Friendly people, good service, fresh product. Each chicken goes by $16 per. They are decent size, it is freshly slaughtered in halal way. This is about the freshest chicken can get possibly. Very exciting to see how it taste. They also sells eggs, of both duck chicken quail. Chicken eggs are 30 for $11. They also sell honey as well as goat milk, sheep cheese etc exotic stuff. Also sells turkey birds etc.

This market happens every Sunday along Lake Eola and features tons of local produce stalls as well as prepared food and drinks stalls and artisans selling their wares. It's a pleasure to walk around and look through the diversity of offerings. It's massive and one of the larger markets I've ever been to. Plus- they have shaded areas under trees with picnic tables for enjoying your food. It's also dog-friendly, so be prepared to enjoy the vast sizes and breeds strolling along with their owners. Overall, a great market for a fun morning. I wouldn't consider it the best market for dropping by to quickly grab produce, rather it's more of an experience to enjoy on a Sunday.

There is no better way to spend a Sunday than by supporting small, local business and having a picnic on the various lawns. My go-to are Cedar Hive Honey, Worthy Snacks, and House of Jerk Cedar Hive Honey has great honey flavors at a very reasonable price for locally sourced honey! Worthy Snacks have the absolute BEST pork rind flavors. You must get the salt & vinegar and garlic Parmesan- WOW. You get a massive bag for $8 or 2 for $15. House of Jerk has some really unique jerky flavors that my husband and I love. They have a 9 for $20 deal on jerky. A new spot I tried recently was Soulful Sazon. Definitely get their chicken pinchos and seafood egg rolls- yum! Don't forget to stop by and get a fresh coconut water. Very hydrating on a hot day!

I had been here before, but this time I truly realized how reasonably priced the fresh fruits and…read morevegetables are. They also have a great meat section. I ended up having a little cheat day and enjoyed a delicious soft serve with fresh strawberries -- it was so good! The staff members were very friendly, especially the cashier who helped me at the register. Her smile felt so genuine, and it honestly made me want to come back again. I even decided to pick up some peanut butter while I was there. The store was very clean and well organized, which made shopping comfortable and enjoyable. I shop at other grocery stores too, but this place is definitely becoming one of my favorites. You can also bring your own reusable bags, which is a nice bonus. The parking lot can be a little difficult on weekends, but overall I highly recommend this place!

I live about two…read morehours away, and whenever I'm in Orlando I usually get sucked into the whole Disney Springs vibe and never make it to all the other amazing local businesses. This trip, though, there was absolutely no Disney involved -- and we finally stopped here on our way home Sunday morning. I feel like you know you're getting older when you get excited about grocery shopping. Normally when I go to Publix, I'm irritated before I even get inside. But this place? A completely different experience. Walking through and seeing all the locally grown vegetables and the meat selection -- clearly labeled as hormone-free and without all the extra junk you get at typical grocery stores -- was honestly mind-blowing. The prices were so reasonable I couldn't believe it. I purposely brought a cooler for the two-hour drive home, and even with everything I bought, I didn't spend over $100. If I had purchased the same items at Publix, I'm convinced I would've been close to (or over) $200. Beyond the prices, the quality and overall vibe made it so enjoyable. You're not breaking the bank feeding your family, and you feel good knowing you're getting better-quality food. The staff was incredibly sweet and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. I was looking for boneless chicken, and one of the employees asked if that's what I needed. A few minutes later, he came back with multiple packs in his hands to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and I really appreciated it. One thing to know: the produce and meat sections are in two separate, unconnected rooms, so you check out separately in each. And if you're still riding that high from all the money you saved, there's soft-serve ice cream outside with seating -- which just makes the experience even better. For someone who truly despises grocery shopping, this was actually fun. I will absolutely make a special trip to Orlando just to come back here -- and next time, I'm bringing a bigger cooler.

Sanford State Farmers Market

Sanford State Farmers Market

While I am very familiar with the blue markers of the state wide Florida Historical Marker Program,…read moreoccasionally I will come across a county or city historic marker. On my way to downtown Sanford I discovered this marker on the side of the road giving the history of the first state owned Farmers' Market in the nation which was located near this site. Historic markers are a great way to learn about the formative people, buildings, and events in Florida's history. The Sanford State Farmer's Market opened on December 18, 1934 at the corner of 13th and French Avenue, Sanford, Florida. It was created in order to provide a central location for farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers. The idea for the market was developed by Fred Dorner and Gus Schmach who were both members of the Seminole Agricultural Club. Sanford Chamber of Commerce President Harry Papworth also contributed to the development of the market. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) authorized construction of the market on June 11, 1934. That same year the City of Sanford donated 20 acres of the Alex V. and Katherine K. French properties to the Florida State Marketing Board which approved the installation of telegraph and telephone equipment and a three pump filling station. The first wood buildings were constructed with loans from the Federal Emergency Relief Agency. One hundred and eight stalls rented for 50 cents a day, $3.00 per week, or $10.00 per month. Railroad service to the market was provided to the market by an Atlantic Coastline Railroad spur. In time, the market complex grew to as many as ten units, with the filling station, restaurant, vegetable cooling room, citrus packing house, barber shop, telegraph agency, and a 35 ton weighing station. Truckers could avail themselves of free showers, soap, and towels. The large volume of the market led to 27 similar agricultural markets popping up all over the state. On April 4, 1957, a fire destroyed the building and caused damages estimated at $2.5 million. The wood buildings were replaced by a more fireproof concrete structure that is still here today. For almost 70 years this market was wholesale. In 2003, a new farmers' facility was added to provide retail produce to the public.

The farmers market used to be great but now half of the spots are empty and when people inquire for…read morea spot they get declined as "no new vendors are currently accepted". It got so bad that at contract renewal they were forced to accept new vendors but the quality of stands has been declining and the cost of goods is insanely high. Example $25 for a sourdough bread - I'm dead serious. Staff is very rude. A lot of locals like myself have been staying away for quite a while now. Too bad the town loses a lot of its charm because outsiders bring a bad vibe in.

We were pleasantly surprized to find a mix of food, crafts, and drinks on offer at the market. All the vendors we spoke to we're very friendly and gave a lot of information about their products. We ended up buying from multiple stands, and will definitely return for future markets. From honey, to 3D printing, to slime, to pastries, we found a wide variety of appealing products, vendors and people. I've always been a fan of supporting small businesses so it's great to see and hear from a lot of local ones. Looking forward to returning and seeing what is on offer the next Sunday we attend. Parking can be a little tricky in downtown celebration sometimes so always allow extra time and be prepared to have a short walk.
