The bagel looked plain to me, but it was surprisingly super flavorful. The olive oil and tomato were so yummy. The bagel itself was perfectly chewy and crisp. There is limited seating here but there is a park near by with seating! Service was also pretty fast.

A truly delicious New York must-get when you're around the area. Savory sourdough open face bagels topped with balanced ingredients. I came to Apollo Bagels twice during my trip to New York, and it was worth it. Depending on the time, the line varies, but there will definitely be a line. It does move pretty fast since it's just a quick order system and then you step to the side for them to call out your name. This spot has some tables, but I would recommend preparing for them to not have any available when you are there since they can get pretty packed. On the right there are small tables for you to sit, while on the left there are standing tables. Apollo Bagels specializes in their sourdough bagel and offers 3 variations (plain, sesame, or everything). They have a couple of bagel toppings to choose from, my favorite being the tomatoes, which add a nice refreshing taste balanced with a coating of olive oil and salt and pepper. I added a scallion cream cheese for $1 more and it was great. Heads up, they also have vegan cream cheese that you can sub for $1 more. Other than that, the salmon is good and the whitefish is a silent killer of a combo. The pickled cucumbers mixed with the saltiness of the salad were chef's kiss.
Apollo Bagels is hands down the best bagel I've ever had! We ordered the Everything Bagel with tomato and chive cream cheese (I think), and oh my God--it was absolutely incredible. Jad sea salt and olive oil on top. The bagel was fresh, perfectly chewy, and packed with flavor. Honestly, one of the best things I ate during my trip. The staff was very sweet and welcoming, and the place was clean and well-maintained. I would highly recommend Apollo Bagels to anyone looking for an amazing bagel experience. Can't wait to come back

The lady helping us at the cashier was incredibly friendly and had the most infectious energy. I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Tomato on an everything bagel, and oh my goodness, both were absolutely delicious. The amount of cream cheese was perfect. The toppings on the smoked salmon were paired so well that every bite just came together perfectly. The bagel itself was crispy and not overly thick like your average bagel. The tomato bagel was super refreshing. For the price, it is totally worth it. This spot is now a must visit every time I'm in New York.

I didn't notice any seating inside, so we all walked to the nearby park to eat. My friend and I split an open‑faced lox and cream cheese bagel, and it was the perfect amount. They only offer three bagel flavors -- plain, sesame, and everything -- which keeps things efficient. I was genuinely surprised by the blistered skin on the bagel; it made it crunchy, unique, and incredibly delicious. I've never had a bagel like it. Looking at the menu (and at what people were eating outside), the whitefish sounded amazing and the tomato one looked especially popular. I definitely want to go back.
This was an interesting experience as a visitor from LA--instead of grabbing a famous New York bagel, I wound up here for some LA-style bagels?! Is LA-style a thing? I'm calling it that since I've been to so many bagel shops back home serving bagels almost identical to this. $15 for the lox was a good price, although none of the bagels are heavily topped. Also got a white fish which had a very conservative amount of fish, and a very meh tomato bagel. Our favorite was definitely the lox. The toppings were fresh and the bagel toasted crispy with a nice chew. My friends (not from LA) all loved it, it was just fine for me, although I can see why there's hype since this is way different than the traditional NY bagel. Got here shortly after opening and there was no line. Waited less than 10 min from time of order to receiving our food. The freshly squeezed OJ was kinda expensive but good. At least it's better than Courage and I'll die on that hill.
Wow. An item this simple has no right to be this excellent. Absolutely jaw dropping. I honestly don't know how the vegan cream cheese tastes because the tomato and olive oil and everything bagel were so deeply flavorful - so you can go vegan with no losses! The staff were efficient and quick. I love the simplicity of the venue and straightforward nature of the shop and the menu. I will absolutely be back (whenever I'm back in NYC).
Great stuff! I'd heard so many good things about the tomato bagel, but when I finally took a bite, it still surprised me. The tomato was bursting with rich olive oil flavor, and the cream added even more layers to the experience. It was just as satisfying as one filled with meat. I came here at 2:30 p.m., so there wasn't much of a line, and every staff member was so friendly and nice. The space is small but clean.
I can confidently say this is my favorite bagel in the city. I love the flavor of their sourdough bagels. It really elevates the experience! I've tried everything, and they're all great. My favorite is the tomato bagel with scallion cream cheese. The tomato offers a nice refreshing bite, and when paired with the scallion cream cheese and everything bagel, you get three great flavors culminating together for the perfect bite. Now, the line can be really long, but it moves extremely fast. They have their systems down, which is so nice, and while there is no seating inside, I love just walking right over to Tompkins Square Park and enjoying my delicious bagel there. If you're looking for a great New York bagel experience, I highly recommend Apollo Bagels!

This was a very solid bagel but to be honest, kind of let me down. I thought my mind was gonna be blown on how much better nyc bagels are, but there's not much of a difference to me. At first I thought I'd be able to notice the difference like how I can notice the difference between shitty McDonald's fries and amazing McDonald's fries but this was kind of like the difference between warm McDonald's fries and hot McDonald's fries. Scallion cream cheese was good though but nothing crazy as well
We are always on the hunt for the best bagel in NYC, so naturally we had to add Apollo Bagels to the list. We've tried PopUp Bagels, Best Bagel & Coffee, Liberty Bagels and plenty of others, and Apollo ended up being our absolute favorite. The menu is really unique and had us ordering things we never would have thought to put on a bagel, including tomato and whitefish. The bagels had the perfect balance of fluffiness on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside that we haven't found anywhere else. There tends to be a line, but it moves pretty quickly. I loved it enough that on my next trip to NYC, I brought a dozen home with me through the airport! read more
About a 1-1.5: Sorry, not sorry, but we weren't fans. Apollo Bagels is described as a 'new-school bagel shop' - Their menu is pretty limited, which is great for indecisive individuals - you can do bagels and spreads, or their sandwiches. We came here early in the morning and ordered: +an Everything bagel with scallion cream cheese - super stingy on the shmear +a Bagel with whitefish salad, pickled peppers, mustard, and cucumber 'sandwich' - this was more of an 'open-faced' version; the Everything bagel was just way too salty and didn't taste fresh - way too chewy; the toppings were okay, but the cucumbers were super wet and made the whole thing soggy; a little stingy on the whitefish spread Staff and service could be friendlier. It's simple but tasty. Minimal but yet filling. Went here for breakfast and it was a great choice over all. Went to this location since a fan of "Friends" show. Big, spacious and yet elegant decor and set up's. Staff are nice and friendly. Not a big menu but enough to choose from for each day of the week. Got just simple everything double toasted with cream cheese and a lox on everything bagel too. The bagel simple delish, well textured and chewy but yet soft inside. With so many busting favor on each bite. The cream cheese is tasty and adding extra layer creamy rich favor onto the bagel. The lox is fresh and simply delish, reminded me of the one I had in Denmark ask for breakfast too. Yum! read more
The first time I had Apollo Bagels last June at their Williamsburg location, it genuinely changed my life. The sesame bagel with cream cheese and tomato was phenomenal. The tomatoes were insanely sweet and juicy, perfectly seasoned, and the bagel itself had that loud, crispy crunch in every bite. My friend and I went to this Apollo Bagels location this past Sunday for lunch. There was a short line, but we ordered and received our bagels within 20 minutes. Fortunately, we found a spot next to the door to enjoy them. BAGEL WITH CREAM CHEESE AND TOMATO - 7 While there was still sparks, there was no fireworks this time. It didn't quite have the same magic as the first time. The bagel was still perfectly crispy, but the tomatoes just weren't as good. They're probably not in season, which made a noticeable difference. BAGEL WITH SMOKED SALMON, CREAM CHEESE, CAPER, RED ONION, DILL - 15 This was was pretty mediocre. The salmon was a bit plain, not really smoky or buttery, and overall it tasted like something I could easily make at home. Still a solid spot with one of the best bagels I've had in NYC. Worth the hype! So yummy and filling The bagel was crisped to perfection while maintaining a soft and fluffy interior. I loved the oil and pepper bits that came through with the tomato. (Could've used more pepper but I think that about everything) The whitefish salad was also yummy (there are some bones in there). It was almost giving mashed potato to me. Not very salty, which I appreciated. We got it on the side and added it to the tomato bagel. No complaints There's no seating inside and like one seating area outside so you might have to go to the park nearby to eat. read more
I always thought bagels were just decent--not something I'd go out of my way for or consider a must-stop while food touring. This place completely changed my mind. I couldn't believe I went back twice. The prices are unbelievably fair, especially compared to other spots that tend to overcharge. Not too much of a line when you go in the afternoon!! The bagels here are definitely crispier than your normal bagel, which I love. But there definitely are times when I'm craving the breadier chew. I wish I was hungrier, I definitely would have tried the whitefish which im always a sucker for. But I went for the scallion cream cheese and tomato instead, and ended up loving the tomato more than I thought I would. read more

Apollo Bagels is the best bagel I ever had. It was so good! Crunchy and salty. I got the cream cheese tomato one. Next time I'll get the smocked salmon bagel. There was a line when I arrived on a Sunday at around 10am, but I didn't wait long, maybe 10 min. There is a park nearby the store. I would recommend to eat the bagel there. Went to Apollo on Thursday around 11am, there was no line. Ordered right away and we got our food in less than 10 minutes! The staff was very friendly and a bit on the chattier side which is awesome (: Ordered the lox everything bagel with scallion cream cheese (which was worth the upgrade as it added to the taste). The ratio of toppings to bread was ideal, so the flavor and texture profile was quite balanced. The fish was very fresh, not slimy whatsoever. I was honestly surprised by the capers they used too! I can tell they were very top quality. The fresh dill on top also tied everything together amazingly. The bagel itself was lightly toasted on the outside with a puffy yeasty center. Fresh OJ with really good bagels and can't complain! Was pleasantly surprised with the tomato's (not a huge tomato fan) and I loved the crunch of the everything bagel. Was light and refreshing so I would come here again. I would definitely come here again the service was quick the vibes in there were nice. If you're looking for the "it" bagel in NYC right now, this is it. Apollo Bagels is a very hip, minimalist spot in the East Village, and yes--it is definitely crowded! Expect a line, but it moves fairly quickly and the payoff is worth it. We kept it classic with our order: Everything Bagel with Lox, Cream Cheese, and Tomato: The bagel itself is incredible--perfectly chewy with a sourdough tang. The lox was fresh and the tomato added that perfect juicy crunch. Bagel with Cream Cheese and Tomato: Simple, but you can really taste the quality of their ingredients when it's not hidden under a million toppings. The vibe is very "downtown NYC," and even with the crowds, we enjoyed the experience very much. If you're a bagel purist, you have to add this to your list! Apollo is unique because they don't use commercial yeast; they use a sourdough starter. It is definitely a bagel that you have to chew which is definitely positive! Soft as well! I had just eaten Thompson St. Bagels with my friends, and while walking around that area in East Village, we stumbled upon Apollo Bagels. There was a huge line, of at least 50 people, waiting outside on the sidewalk. At that time, I couldn't stomach another Lox Sandwich for my short 3-day trip in NYC. But I vowed that next time I came to NYC, I would return, as the Yelp pictures looked amazing. So I came back this time with my husband, and there was literally no line outside. What happened?! There was a small line inside of 5 people, I probably waited 5 mins line to order. It maybe took another 6-7 mins to receive my order. I got the Smoked Salmon bagel with the dill, capers, and red onion. I ordered the sesame bun, which was nicely toasted. It comes out cut already, served open-face in the to-go box provided. It was good, but I can't say it was amazing. The smoked salmon on the bagel was just a thin layer too, not much. The bagel was nicely toasted though, nice and hot. Overall, even though it was a good lox, I felt disappointed that it wasn't better, after all that anticipation. I really need to stick to my favorite, Russ & Daughters, for my next trip to NYC and wanting a good Lox. read more

This is my favorite bagel in NYC. The bagel is sourdough based that makes it special. Nice crust with chewiness of the sourdough. I bought the smoked salmon there to make the sandwich at home. The smoke salmon with capers is their popular sandwich. I highly recommended it. Staff members are nice and friendly. I came there early so there was no line. I sadly don't like a classic NY style or Long Island style bagel (I know). I find them to dense, doughy, and hard to get through. I was told to try Apollo's since the sourdough makes them fluffy. I really loved mine. Tried the tomato and scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel. The everything seasoning was generous, the bagel was perfectly toasted without burning the seasoning, and the salt and pepper on top if the tomato was perfection too. Cream cheese generous but not too heavy. The open face presentation makes both halves of the bagel well balanced and easier to eat. Apollo bagels was very high on my list of spots to try in New York! I've heard some mixed reviews from people saying that the bagels were too hard, but mine was perfect. The outside was very crunchy but the inside still doughy (if you wait to eat it definitely does get harder). I got lox on an everything bagel. Perfect ratio of lox and cream cheese, and the toppings were very fresh. No seating inside aside from some bartops to stand at, but there are a few benches outside. read more
