I came here while visiting from out of state and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the wings were! I ordered boneless wings in a milder Buffalo sauce and then the Sharon Harris. Both were good and not too spicy. The restaurant was clean and not too noisy. The waitress was nice, not overly friendly and talkative but that's ok. I tried to go back on a Thursday and it was so packed! There were no tables and the outside seating wasn't open. After waiting by the front door for awhile a waitress finally told us it was trivia night. We decided to leave and go somewhere else. This is a great dive bar and its in the back of a strip mall so keep that in mind when your GPS drops you off and you think youre there. Staff was incredibly friendly and it was pretty funny to see people belting out karaoke at 730 on a Tuesday which is what they do weekly. I dont understand their hours as they close at 9pm usually and its definitely more bar then restaurant. The wings were cooked to perfection and not overly crispy but the sauce was not sticking to them at all. Im going to mark this up to a one time visit but this would something they could address to get top marks on their wings from me. My favorite wing place in town! We each got their 6 piece + side, and although it doesn't sound like much, the wings + drumsticks were a decent size. The mango habanero sauce was delicious - not that hot and more sweet than the sauce at Bdubs, but it was worth it because the chicken is way better (tender, juicy but with a nice crunch on the outside). It comes with generous blue cheese and celery as well. For sides, we ordered hot chips and tots. Both were awesome. They must have the best flash frier because the thin potato chips were hot and crispy without being burnt. The tots were my favorite. Sure, there was grease but it's not as greasy on the inside as poorly done tots - and they're actually served hot and stays hot for awhile. I was very happy with my dinner and it was cheaper than Bdubs to boot! There were plenty of sauce options and the service was great (e.g., we never ran out of our drinks). The restaurant is nice and cozy but does full up fast (as does the shared parking lot), but it was worth it. read more

After reading the reviews I was really excited to go. I work in Apex so I wondered why I had no clue where it is. Well, it's in a terrible location! You would never know it's there unless you were looking for it. It's also annoying that a lot of patrons smoke right outside the door. Thank God there's no smoking inside because it's small and I'd be breathing the smoke no matter where I sat! The wings are pricy...$11.75 for 8 bone in, I think. Luckily my husband noticed the deal where you get 6 boneless and 6 bone in for $9.99 and you can pick a different sauce for each. I chose Thai sweet chili which was good and the garlic Parmesan which I didn't enjoy. The actual wings were good but I should've chosen a different flavor. The kids menu was great with lots of choices. My husband did not enjoy his burger though. He said it didn't have much taste...but that's coming for someone who doesn't put any condiments on it. Just beef, bacon and cheese. He didn't like the bun either. My mom liked her salad but found some yucky bits of lettuce. I am including a picture of the celery that came out way before the wings. Several pieces were gross. I know it's something small to complain about but I actually like eating the celery and this gave me the creeps. The service was good and the food came out very quickly! So, who doesn't love some great wings, right? My favorite flavor is Lemon Pepper and I am always in search of a place that doesn't over season but allows the taste of the chicken to be part of the flavor palette, as well! I cannot emphasize how awful it is to just taste Lemon Pepper when it should just complement the chicken! This was my first time at Apex Wings and it is a very casual bar/eatery! Nothing fancy and definitely not a place you want to bring your sweetie for a romantic date! It's a great place to hang with friends or watch a game! A little loud but I like to laugh and converse loudly, at times, so it was perfect for just having a good time this Friday night! We ordered online, arrived on time for our pick up, and had to wait an additional 25 minutes for our pick up order. There were at least 4 others orders/ people waiting around for their online orders. New to Apex area and wanted to try out this place based on good reviews. What a disappointment!! It was actually YUCK!! Opened the lid and saw the potato wedges drenched in oil, burnt on the outside-soggy in the inside. Didn't even taste it and threw it out. This is definitely the best place to get some wings with your friends. Its inexpensive and well sauced. I usually order from here through 919dine and have never had any issues with taste or quality. They also have amazing burgers. Thick juicy burgers done the way a burger should be. Dont expect to be able to finish the fries that come with the burger unless you are starving. I'm a wings junkie, and this place brings on the wings!. The wings are meaty and delicious, and a nice assortment of sauces, something for almost every taste. That said, neither of the two hottest sauces are hot enough for me, but would satisfy most palates. I also enjoyed the onion rings and fried pickles. My companions had a sandwich and a salad and both very good. Atmosphere is basic pub style, very laid back. I'll definitely be going back, and would have given this place 5 stars if only the hot sauce were higher on the Scoville scale. read more

We rolled in here on a drizzly Sunday and had to turn around a couple times since it is tucked away in the corner of a nearly defunct strip mall. We opted to sit at the bar, and there was one other couple dining in the restaurant. For those of you that know me...I'm all about some wings. I wanted to start with something healthy so Brit and I ordered the "side" salad. A mammoth salad came out, iceburg galore with some small garnish vegetables to add a bit of flavor to the watery crunch of iceburg. The balsamic vinagrette was pretty thin, and was way over spiced. It was almost inedible with the amount of spice in the concoction. They were running a special on the 25 piece wing order. The wings showed up and upon inital appearance were in my opinion over sauced. This always leads me to believe that something was being hidden. over aged wings, discoloration etc. The wings are crispy and moist, some broken bones which isn't all that fun to deal with, but for the most part way too much sauce. It masks any flavor of the chicken and the after a bit the crunch is lost as the wings become soggy. The flavors that we had - Jaimaican Jerk, Sweet Habanero and Sweet and Spicy Thai Chili were all well balanced and tasted pretty good. However the wings were turned into a vehicle to deliver sauce to your mouth instead of vice versa. Not bad, not the greatest. For a local option, they were a 3 stars. I do want to knock the female bartender who started bad-mouthing some call in orders while we were there. No one, especially customers should overhear a staff member calling customers stupid. No matter how frustrating or rude customers are and can be, the rest of the establishment customers should not think..."Hmm, I wonder what they'll say when we leave?" My favorite wing joint! Em-R Wings had to change their name to Apex Wings (something about another restaurant by the same name), but they'll always be Em-R Wings to me. They've changed their sign to one that features a somewhat crazed looking chicken with red rimmed eyes. This place is a super casual hole on the wall that's usually pretty quiet- you come into this dimly lit place and there are usually a couple of regulars sitting at the bar, and if you turn to the left there's a separate area with tables, booths, and a TV. It's fine for kids and they have no problem accommodating large families. Onto the wings- I think they're great, not gristly or slimy like other wings! I like to order mine Hot for a nice peppery kick, and "extra well done" so they're nice and crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. The Shearon Harris wings always come to our table with jalepenos on top, but maybe just to differentiate them from the Hot wings. I was stoked at the thought of finding a local wings place as an alternative to Buffalo Wild Wings and the other chains and I was encouraged by the good reviews, but the wings were a disappointment. Service was fine and the beer battered fries weren't bad, but it really comes down to whether or not the wings were good, and they weren't, at least not this batch. We tried the BBQ, Sweet Habanero, Jamaican Jerk, and Medium. The BBQ were smothered in really sweet sauce, the Medium were just ok, and I didn't like the flavors of the Jerk and Habanero. I would try other flavors but the meat on all the wings was just dry. I will have to keep looking for a local wings spot. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. The wings are always fresh and cooked perfectly. I usually get the mild wings but we've had the garlic parm/lemon pepper and teriyaki. Their APP to order online is hands down one of the best and adds to the convenience of ordering. I've come back to Apex Wings many many times since my last review and I know people have bad days, but it's been consistently bad. Service has always been meh, but it's a divey-type of places, so whatever. But what irks me the most is the quality of food. I love their sauces, the flavor is great. But the wings they put it on? It's usually undercooked or the bones are broken causing the meat to taste off and also have brittle pieces in a bite. Still, I kept recommending Apex Wings but said, let's go with the boneless wings instead. Well, those were undercooked too! TL;DR: I'm no longer giving Apex Wings my recommendation or going back until I consistently hear better things. So I'm leaving my review cause of the service last night ( super bowl) . Last night I ordered wings online and showed up only to find out it would be another 60-90 mins from the quoted time. The guy was very apologetic and incredibly nice. This is only second time I ordered from you ( the first my online order was lost on a different Sunday ) . Ate here last night with my wife. I had 15 wings, a mix of mango habanero and Thai chili. Both flavors were good but fairly mild. The wings were large and meaty, cooked perfectly. Tater tots and onion rings for sides. The tots were nice and crispy, the onion rings were a tad over cooked, plus, I expected better rings. These were the same as you'd find in the frozen section at the super market. My wife got a burger that was large and thick, cooked just right for her. Done, but still juicy. She as got a side of the potato wedges. They were seasoned and she liked the taste. Lastly, the service was AWESOME. The staff works as a team and they look out for everyone's tables. read more

Im giving only 3 stars because I ordered 15 wings and did half n half and I wondered which flavor would get the extra I only counted 14 hmmmm.....I bet this happens often and $20.00 for 15 wings that is not cheap!!!! Normally when I see small independent "mom and pop" restaurants, I get excited because I have found some delicious food this way. The wings I got and the wings the wife got were certainly on par. They were a little in the small size, but adequate for average hum drum wings. The kicker here is that 10 wings were 9.ish dollars. When I got my check for 37 dollars I had some sticker shock because this is what I pay at Outback for salad, steak, potato and bread and cokes for the wife and me. For 37 dollars. 44 with tip, I got 10 wings for me, 10 for wifey, coke, one beer, half basket fries, and for 6 dollars I got seven fried mushrooms. With average wings I had found myself wishing I had not gambled on Apex Wings for the price. I gave two stars instead of one because the waitress rocked. She was friendly and let us taste 3 beer options in shot glasses to decide which beer to have. I would give it another shot, but the wing price is outrageous. read more
