Terrible company with zero respect for our neighborhood "No Soliciting " sign at the entrance to our neighborhood and no respect for homes displaying "No soliciting" signs. Their aggressive salespeople will ring the bell and disturb you with clear signage right by the bell. Very disrespectful. Today David Caldwell, rang the bell of a home with a no soliciting sign. Of course, when no one answered he left a card hanger on the door. When their daughter left to get in her car to leave, he saw her and actually had the nerve to pull his car back around and stop her to ask if her parents were busy. If a company can't read a "No Soliciting" sign, then they probably can't be trusted to install widows. read more

We had a salesman, Garrett, come to our home at 1:27pm on 9/26. We have a very prominently displayed no soliciting sign. We work from home and have many meetings during the day. Garrett proceeded to ignore our sign, I have him on video looking right at it. My dog obviously went berserk in the middle of a very important meeting. I told Garrett through the ring camera we have a no soliciting sign please go, to which he responded "I'll just leave my info for you in case." There's absolutely zero chance we will be using this company and our neighbors will know about it as we take our no soliciting signs very seriously in our community. Installed nearly 50 windows in one day! Very courteous and helpful. Windows look great. I have crown moulding around all my windows and was worried about it getting damaged, but they were very careful and did an excellent job touching up afterwards--I didn't need to do any painting. Installer gave me a walk-through afterwards and showed me how to open/clean the windows. The next day, we had condensation on the outside of some of the windows, which had never happened with the old windows. Brad's knock on my door wasn't at the most convenient time, but my 45 year old house desperately needs new windows and I'm glad I scheduled a follow-up appointment with Apex's sales person, Nathan Rouse. Nathan was accomodating of Covid-19 concerns as well as interruptions from a 7 year old. The sales process wasn't high pressure and the quote was better than my window sales friend could match for a similar product. You do have to make up your mind pretty quickly to lock in the quote, but honestly, I'm relieved to have the process started. Creepy door to door salesman that prey upon people doing construction to their homes. We have video surveillance of an Apex guy coming to our door and aggressively ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door repeatedly. Then he stepped back and walked to our front windows peering into our house, totally not acceptable and just plain creepy. read more

It's been over a year now since we had their "Premium triple-paned" windows installed in our house (which they "discounted" to $15,000), and our electric bills haven't improved. On the contrary, our year-over-year Duke Energy bill actually went up an average of $5.50/month. But I will say, our house *looks* better than it did and the windows are nicer than what we had- so at least there's some consolation in that. The windows themselves are very nice, but I can't say they're superior to what anyone else is selling. Still, was hoping to see an improvement in energy efficiency, and am left feeling like I was stupid for believing all the things they told me during the sales process. Not saying these guys are bad (I did like the people we worked with) but before you buy from anyone that tells you you'll see an improvement in your electric bills, ask them if they have any guarantee to back up their claims, that they'll put in writing. This is a review of Apex's business practices, not their products. We were approached by an Apex salesman who told us we'd been chosen as a "promo home," meaning we'd get a massive discount in exchange for letting Apex use our house for advertising purposes. We scheduled a sales meeting, which lasted about 2 hours. The salesman offered one window option--a triple-pane, double-hung window manufactured by Alside, branded as "Insignia"--and said that under the "promo home" deal Apex would absorb all labor and disposal costs, plus part of the cost of supplies, giving us a total of 58% off their usual price. In exchange, we were supposed to keep their sign in our yard for 3 months and let them use photos of our home for marketing. To emphasize what a good deal we were getting, the salesman quoted prices ranging from about $24,000 to $27,000 that he said would be charged by three other window companies for the same work; the price he quoted us for Apex was around $11,000, or about $650 to $700 per window. When I asked to make a copy of the sheet the salesman had been writing on, he said I could only copy the final Apex quote, not any of the prices estimated for other companies. We were given three days to sign a contract (originally two--I had to ask for an extra day), and we weren't supposed to tell anyone about the deal we were getting. Over the next three days, I did some rushed online research that suggested that Apex had been using the same "promo home" spiel pretty regularly. I also talked to another contractor who happened to be at my house for unrelated work; the information this contractor gave me about window pricing made it pretty clear that, while the $11k price Apex had quoted me wasn't outrageous, the representations the Apex salesman made about absorbing labor and supply costs were extremely misleading, if not outright false. When I emailed the Apex salesman to let him know we wouldn't be using Apex, he got snippy, annoyed that we were turning him down after acting so interested during the sales meeting. The next week, I got a full quote from another company for a double-paned Alside window with the same warranty for around $8,000. The representative from this company told us triple-paned windows were overkill for this region, since we have relatively mild weather for most of the year. Again, it's not that I think there's something wrong with Apex's products or installation. It's that I'm pretty sure I've been lied to--at the very least, their business practices are SUPER questionable. If you're considering using Apex, just know you're not getting nearly as good a deal as they're telling you. This is an expensive decision that will affect you for many years; do your research. read more

We recently (this week) had our windows replaced by Apex Energy Solutions. We had talked with them three years ago and due to the numerous projects we had with our "new to us" house had to push out new windows. Fortunately for us, and for Austin, he contacted us again and we were ready to move forward with them. Austin came in and showed my wife the sample window (which is exactly the same as the windows they installed) and she loved the easy open latches for cleaning the outside of the windows for both the top and bottom. One aspect that was very important to us was that have the screens included (others had screens as add-ons) because we like to open them up for fresh air when the weather allows. The process was very easy. They have financing options as well if needed which took just a few minutes. The crew (4 guys) showed up on time and installed the windows (24) in the first day as our old windows just popped out when the 3/4 inch piece of wood that held them in was removed. The new windows are screwed in and then foamed and caulked - much more secure. Most windows have 2 locks unless they are skinny and then they have one but they are so well installed in the frame and with 3 panes of glass we feel much more secure. The crew were courteous and informative and most importantly friendly. They answered all of my questions and put up with my watching to see how it is all done. We had some wood rot in our sill and brick mold and they replaced that with good wood before they wrapped the outside molding with anodized/powder coated aluminum - which is surprisingly thick! They have a bending machine and custom bend it for each window. Then they caulk it all up to weather seal it some more and it looks fantastic! We even had a manager from the office show up during the install to make sure everything was going smoothly and we were happy. Anyway, thanks to Austin and the crew for a great experience with this home improvement as I know there are some questionable dealers out there. Apex was great!
