I would give them 0 stars if I could. At the beginning the customer service was good and helpful. I had scheduled my trip prior to the COVID-19 shut down. I had to reach out to them in order to get an update on my reservation. I got the run around a bit - a supervisor was supposed to call me back but never did. Eventually my trip was cancelled, but I somehow received confirmation about the shuttle service to my phone (which should have been cancelled as well). I reached out to them again to confirm everything was cancelled and I requested a refund and received the following response - (this is an actual copy and paste from the email): "We kept $100 deposit and 5% to cover credit card fees." I was not happy with this as I was not informed at any time during the reservation that they will keep $100 + 5% or my total charge - if this would have been disclosed to me, I would have been okay with it. At no time during the conversation and nowhere in the confirmation did it state that they will keep a $100 deposit and 5% of the total charge, especially since I NEVER made a deposit! if this is how they operate, this should have been made aware to me when I made the reservation with a representative, over the phone or even when I submitted my card information. After a bit more emails back and forth, I was told I would receive a full refund of the entire amount and they will not charge me the $100 +5%. They said I should receive the refund in 5-6 days. After 10 days I called, but no one got back to me or answered any of my inquiries. After weeks of not receiving my refund, I got my bank involved. This company had the audacity to send partial email conversations of when we made the reservation to my bank and make it seem like they never offered me a full refund. I had to print the entire thread and mail/fax to my bank - and my bank was able to get me my full refund. This is a POOR way to do business, they are underhanded and unethical. They were dishonest and I would not recommend their services to anyone. Extremely disappointed, it was nothing but a headache working with them. It's unfortunate. read more

I was invited on a trip by the honey's family to Costa Rica that had been booked through Anywhere. While about 80% of it I highly enjoyed, there were a few issues for me with the service. If you've never been to Costa Rica before (or any of Anywhere's getaway locations) you're putting a lot of trust in them to review your tours, your destination hotel, and are using their knowledge of the area to notify you of any issues. To use common sense rationality to plan the trip, or at least you're trusting that they've visited the spaces before and review them yearly to see if they actually match what is being currently advertised, and if not, blacklist the hotel from their lookbook. Due to the area not having Yelp, TripAdvisor was the main source of information for the honey's family choosing our hotels. This turned out to be our trips largest issue as our second hotel had about 30% inaccurate photos, with the other "accurate" photos having been shot in an artistic flaw covering manner. The space was also dirty and my personal stay there was not comfortable, but that's another review. At the end of the day it would make me uncomfortable to travel to another country with Anywhere where Yelp doesn't exist, as I don't feel I could rely on them to have reviewed my trip extensively for any issues. If I used them again it would be simply as a structured base to plan my trip and nothing more. A great example of something I feel was obviously overlooked was that our trip was separated into two hotels, first 3 days at one and then 4 days at another. The first tour of the week (during our stay at the much nicer first hotel) was an 8 hour all day hike off premises. Thus not only did we spend 1 day less at the nice hotel from being on the tour, but we spent an additional day less there than the other hotel. Anywhere should have reviewed and brought this to light. Although the bulk of the tours went off without a hitch, one tour had never reserved our space and our driver didn't show. While we were still able to make the tour (abit late, costing us more lost time at the nice hotel) Anywhere should have had a policy in place to double check all reservations one week prior to day of and it's surprising they didn't do so. Even though there were some bumps, Anywhere was fantastic for seamless transportation. Most of our drivers were early or on time for the tours and transfers. The vehicles weren't always the most comfortable, but they all felt very trustworthy and all our drivers were wonderful! Lastly, the tours were fantastic overall and although different family members had their favorite, I think all were extremely positive experiences with great guides! All in all I would use Anywhere again, but I would definitely check and triple check the advertised hotel and tours you're agreeing to and plan the trip out yourself after they send you some notes. I would never trust or use them as my only "agent" to plan my trip. read more

Just got back from my trip to Everest Base Camp and I am blown away by the thoughtfulness of the Anywhere team! The communication was seamless prior to the trip. We were given a detailed packing list, along with everything we may possibly need to know upon arrival. The group met in Kathmandu, and we were greeted with a duffle bag full of practical goodies which ended up being life savers on the trip (ie: cold weather outdoor clothes and accessories, toiletries, Nepali phrase book, prayer flags, wipes, roughly 100 USD worth of local currency, a postcard to send home with a stamp already on it, etc). Even though the website said "all-inclusive", this was a pleasant surprise and way beyond my expectation. Karl, our guide and super hero, is extremely knowledgeable about the area and shared his personal story of why he is leading this expedition (I won't spoil it here but it is very touching!) His passion for Nepal and enthusiasm for the outdoors is truly contagious, along with his sense of humor, even the steepest mountains surprisingly does not seem so difficult to summit. Due to the relationships Karl have fostered in the region over the years, we were able to trek the less-traveled roads and had a true immersion to the culture and people during this trip. Many times, we were the only people on the trails and a professional photographer was included, which allowed us to soak in every moment of the scenery while he captured memorable candid moments of the group. I can't quite express the experience. It was educational and insightful, and beyond the beauty of the Himalayas. I felt like I walked out of the journey with more patience, a better understanding of how the world works, and more appreciative than ever of the relationships in life. After trying to put together a Christmas vacation to Costa Rica with my family of 4 I stumbled upon Anywhere.com. I had read a lot of blogs and talked with friends who had been there. I had an idea of what I wanted to do but once I spoke to Jessica at Anywhere she was able to put together a perfect itinerary! She talked me into going to Uvita from Arenal which is around a 6 hour drive (since are driving through mountains on two lane highways). I told her my husband likes to drive so I know that is why she suggested it. I was hesitant at first since I didn't want to take a whole day driving with my 23 and 24 year old. Uvita turned out to be the highlight of our trip! What an amazing beautiful spot! An untouched area in Costa Rica that is a must visit before it becomes discovered. The drive was fun too! The scenery was gorgeous and it was fun driving through all the small towns. Everything went without a hitch. The drivers for all our excursions arrived right on time and I even had a driver pick my daughter up early and take her to the airport (she wanted to spend New Years Eve with her boyfriend) and he arrived right on time and got her to the airport in a very timely manner. The hotels were all beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The hotel in Uvita (The Tiki Lodge) was spectacular. Just 9 bungalows built into a mountain in the rainforest overlooking the Pacific Ocean with an outstanding staff. All of our excursions were great with great guides (which can make a difference). I will definitely go back to Costa Rica since there is so much more to explore and I will be using Anywhere for sure!! read more

We used anywhere to book our Costa Rican vacation. Our agent's name was Harold and he did an amazing job. You fill out a simple questionnaire at the beginning. 12 hours later they sent us an itinerary to review. We went back and forth a couple times but every time Harold was able to make the adjustments we asked for. Once they get the itinerary right you pay and they book everything. Have been to a number of places around the planet over the years with several tour operators. Anywhere has been one of the best. I found anywhere.com as I was searching for Costa Rica vacation packages. AAA had some cookie cutter packages we had access to - nothing wrong with them - but I wanted alternatives. Then I found anywhere.com - and looked into putting an itinerary together for our family group. Being in the Internet software business myself - I was impressed how good the workflow was! Every step of our inquiry and customization was personalized by a knowledgeable representative - and we got a very competitive package rate, including everything except airfare. Itinerary and details were very clearly communicated, all online. Phone consulting was available and used early in the process, but rest of it was online and stress free. When we landed in San Juan, we met our first driver, friendly and helpful like everyone we met during our week long trip. The first hotel (Spa At Arenal) was absolutely outstanding. Huge suite, with a hot tub on the porch! Had a great three days there. That hotel is a tough act to follow - stay there last! :) Remaining days were at another resort in Quepos - next to a rainforest reserve chock full of monkeys and other animals. The hotel was nice and our huge suite was very roomy - but the decoration was a bit eclectic (no desk in master suite to work on?) and it was bordering a more urban area - which has pros (walk to restaurants, etc.) and cons (road nearby). All the essentials - A/C, Laundry, Elevator, responsive staff - were there. Enjoyed our time there as well. During the week, excursion and transportation representatives showed up right on time or earlier, with comfortable transfer vehicles - with one exception - the excursion operator had not put us on the correct date. Calling them over the phone, they could not find our reservation. Then - calling Anywhere - they were able to understand and resolve the issue pronto! A nice van showed up in minutes - and we were off to our zipline adventure. The operator owned up to the mistake and apologized - offering to host us at the cafe at the location (we had no time). All and all, the mistake cost us 45 minutes - insignificant in the scheme of things. All hotels, excursion operators arranged by anywhere were conscious of the fact we were anywhere.com guests and definitely went the extra mile - if it was called for. At the end of every day, anywhere.com kept in touch to verify all went according to plan and we were happy. Had a great time - and will definitely work with anywhere.com I did not even realize they were a hometown (Seattle) operation until later. One tangential tip: I used the TEP 3G wifi modem rental (tepwireless.com) and that worked exceptionally well to keep in touch over the Internet - despite many coverage dark spots. Got the modem in the mail - and returned via mail. That helped a lot to stay on top of things in this heavily connected era, including making calls over the data link (Skype, WhatsApp, etc.) when needed. read more

Recently my family and I vacationed in Costa Rica as a surprise trip I had been planning for quite some time. Prior to even learning of Anywhere Costa Rica's existence, I did an immense amount of research utilizing the various blogs and informational outlets on the Web. Only after my days of research did I stumble across the Anywhere Costa Rica website. When I arrived at the website, I quickly assessed that it is a company that aids would-be travelers in planning their trip. Since I had already crafted my entire vacation including: hotels, excursions, rental vehicle, etc., I decided I would input all of my information into their system and see what they came back with for me. The custom created a vacation plan based upon my preferences, and within hours a representative unobtrusively contacted me via email with the plan. I reviewed the plan quite thoroughly and was shocked to find that the plan they had put together very similarly resembled the plan I had crafted - hotels, excursions, and all. The main difference was in one of the cities that I wanted to visit. They had me going to Manuel Antonio, but I decided a while back that I wanted to finish the vacation in Tamarindo. Additionally, that I only wanted to spend one night in Monteverde, because the accommodations and overall number of activities seemed to be lacking. My personal Anywhere Costa Rica consultant quickly made the changes I mentioned and further bolstered my confidence by agreeing with all of my rationales for choosing what I chose. She was informative and helpful; while also being very judicious in guiding me toward something that made sense. Travelling to a foreign country is scary when you are someone like me who likes to know all of the preventable dangers and issues that could arise. Anywhere Costa Rica really helped settle my nerves and guide me to an unforgettable vacation. In terms of issues, I can only say that I had one. One of the activities that my consultant had planned did not accept children under 8. In the form, I plainly stated that my daughter was 4. I am astute and detail oriented enough to catch this mistake, someone else may not have been so lucky and arrived at their activity to be disappointed when their child was ineligible. In our case, it was related to a canyoneering activity. Yes, I would have loved it, but if we got there and couldn't do it, the experience would have been really a bummer. My only advice, is although they are professionals, they are also prone to mistakes - like all humans. So double-check their work! So how was the adventure? It was genuinely and adventure. From hiking volcanos, to seeing the Rain/Cloud Forest, to ATV'ing perilous paths and riding horses across the beautiful countryside - all the way to our final activity/destination in Tamarindo on the Pacific Coast to get some much needed beach relaxation and sun - this was the best vacation I have ever been on. Costa Rica is not a country for those not wanting an immense adventure. If you want to get out, enjoy an incredibly ecologically diverse country, while seeing and experiencing completely foreign things - this is your vacation. I could never be the type of person to sit at a resort for 7 days. This was amazing, and Anywhere Costa Rica was a pleasure to work with. Should I ever decide to travel to another locale that the 'Anywhere' brand services, I will most definitely use their service. Not only did they help me plan the ultimate adventure and getaway, they made me feel comfortable, safe, reassured me, and also saved me money. Anywhere is an amazing resource for trip planning. We just returned from our second trip to Costa Rica using their trip planning services. We did not feel comfortable renting a car in Costa Rica, so we relied on Anywhere to book our transfers as well as our excursions. Our drivers to and from the airport both spoke impeccable English, they offered breaks along the way for food, restrooms, and anything else we needed. They stopped when they saw wildlife in the trees or a nice view where they thought we might like to take a photo. The vans they drove us in could have fit ten people, even though there were only four of us. They were new and comfortable vans to ride in. Our excursions were all amazing. Anywhere was in communication with us regarding pick up and drop off times at our hotel/house rental and all of the drivers (associated with the excursion companies) showed up within about a 5-10 minute window of when they were supposed to arrive. Everyone was very professional. The excursions were fantastic. I especially recommend the Sky Trek in Monteverde and the Toucan Tours rafting company in Manuel Antonio that Anywhere planned for us. Anywhere clearly works with excursion companies that are very reputable and have wonderful business practices. On a side note, one of our children got sick with the flu the day before our trip and remained sick with a high fever for the first 3 days of our trip to Costa Rica. As a result, she and one parent were unable to participate in our prepaid/prescheduled tours scheduled through Anywhere. I contacted Anywhere prior to each day's tours to let them know that we had an issue with one of our children. They responded with concern and reached out to each company we had scheduled excursions with. They were able to negotiate refunds for those unused tickets in almost every case. I was very grateful for this since one parent had to stay behind at the hotel with a sick child in less than ideal circumstances. It certainly made it much more easy to enjoy ourselves knowing were being taken care of. I am looking forward to booking another trip through Anywhere in the future. Next time I think we will explore one of the other countries where this travel agency has a presence. read more

Upon planning this Belize trip for my boss and her sister, I spent many hours researching "adventures in Belize", "must sees", "best food experiences", snorkeling, scuba, tours, etc... Recently my wife and I travelled to the Bocas Del Torro area of Jessica Carvajal, arranged a great trip for us an we had a wonderful time because everything she arranged happened as she said it would - EXCEPT for one very important transportation to the airport for our flight to Panama City. Through no fault of Jessica or Anywhere travel the hotel did not live up to their commitment and my wife and I had to walk a mile and a half carrying and pulling our luggage along the road and barely made our flight. After arriving in Panama City I called Jessica and informed her of the situation. She immediately contacted the hotel and not only did the hotel refund the transportation charge, but Jessica's supervisor insisted on adding an extra amount for our inconvenience. These people are great to work with and while travelling from the United States it is comforting knowing we have a company that stands behind their product even when it was somebody else mistake - THANK YOU ANYWHERE TRAVEL. FANTASTIC - If you are planning to travel in Central America, I advise you to use Anywhere to plan your trip. Anywhere.com makes it easy to have your perfect vacation. We started the plan online and then had phone conversations and email exchanges with our rep, Rodrigo, to make sure we got exactly what we wanted! Rodrigo was also available to talk to when the day for one of our activities was changed by the hotel. A friend and I spent 9 days in Belize. We stayed in Placencia, Corozal, and Ambergris Caye - all of the transportation was arranged as we requested, using inter-country flights, a personal driver, and a water taxi back to Belize City (we were very sad to be leaving). Someone met us at each transportation location to make sure everything was perfect and we were taken care of. Our accommodations were exactly what we asked for - each hotel had a wonderful restaurant for when we wanted to eat "at home" and easy access to things to do on our own. The planned activities were great fun with great companies and great people - snorkeling, touring Mayan ruins, catamaran cruising at sunset. The only issue we had was WiFi in the Placencia hotel (I understand this can be an issue in Belize in general - so this is not a complaint). If you are going to Costa Rica, you MUST use Anywhere for all your travel and booking needs. They were absolutely amazing, and it did not cost us any $ to use their services. In fact, all their excursions and transportation were by far cheaper than other companies (including booking directly at the hotels). If you are traveling from Arenal to Monteverde or vice versa, I would highly recommend taking the boat across Arenal Lake (it was $25 pp) and that in itself was like an excursion with spectacular views plus it got us to our next destination far more quicker than by car. I did immense amount of research on my own prior to going to Costa Rica, but once I discovered Anywhere, I scrapped all my efforts and booked directly with them. 'Anywhere' is hands down the most amazing travel planning site we've ever used! We used it to plan our honeymoon in Costa Rica, and I can't possibly fit all the wonderful things I'd like to share into this review. But to name a few... first off, it's super personal travel planning: transportation, accommodation, activities, etc for FREE. (Yes I know this already sounds like an ad or too good to be true, but I'm honestly just still in shock at how amazing this service was.) Second you have both the website to guide you, and also live chat and phone calls with a local guide to help you. The person I spoke to (perfect English, but actually from Costa Rica) was super helpful and intuitive about what I wanted. I gave her a list of places and activities I was interested in, and she made a beautiful suggested itinerary for us. She even suggested a catamaran tour she thought we'd like, and it turned out to be our favorite part of the trip!! We also had an extremely positive experience with the private and group shuttles we used across country, the drivers were so timely and sooooo nice.
