Working with Darin from the quotation stage to the installation stage, the communication and timeliness of the project went smoothly from start to finish. Darin is a next level master gate builder--he puts in the extra effort to ensure the customer is happy. I wanted a design and installation of 2 modern looking commercial gates with an automatic gate opener that could schedule to open and close the gates at specified times. I knew exactly what I wanted and sent Darin some sample gate photos I found online, and he was able to extrapolate from the photos to sketch up a full design. The quoting experience with Darin was much better than 2 other commercial gate installers I had contacted. (Not shown on Yelp or Lam Welding's website, they have an extensive album of sample photos from completed client projects stored on a tablet. The projects are more modern looking, and you can request to view this to get ideas.) Darin first met me at the location and did his measurements, then mocked up the design, and lastly confirmed everything by visiting the site again with our electrician to ensure everyone was on the same page. There were some challenges because the gate location was located on a slope. Darin was able to problem solve, select the gate motors, provide guidance to the electrical installer and also recommend we purchase fire switches to meet the local fire department's requirements. The fabrication of the gate was expertly welded together. Same with the powder coating. The installation of the gate motors was done smoothly, and everything was connected and worked immediately. Darin, Uncle, and Father worked so hard to getting everything installed. Everything just worked. This was the best project experience I've had this year, and I absolutely loved the end result with a perfect look and quality feel to the gates. Thank you Darin and family. Look at the pictures, business owner! The base of the steel post is not anchored to soil or anything. Why you guys keep blaming to the soil? And what earthquake? After the installation about a month or two, the gates started having problems with closing and opening continuously! After the father's "repair" on my gate, the neighbor's gate couldn't close. After his "repair" on the neighbor's gate, my gate couldn't open!! Now they are unable to fix their terrible job, then blame to earthquake! We have not had any earthquakes recently in Santa Clara! Other houses in my neighborhood don't have the same problems with their gates. Shame on this gate business! Father did the bad job, could not fix it, then disappeared. The son started exchanging emails with customers, wanted to get more money to "repair" his own father's job. This just likes a scam set-up to steal money! The pictures can say thousand words. They saved me hours of work for something that may not have turned out as nice as how they cut it. It took about 20 minutes and the gentleman was nice enough to walk out to the parking lot to find me and let me know. I parked in the back and they brought it out to my car. I changed the specs last minute and they accommodated that too. My buddy told me everyone here is helpful and nice and that's 100% the truth! Everyone here is so nice and polite it felt like I was at a resort. Companies like this will be around forever because of staff like this at Industrial Metal Supply.

Otherwise I had an issue with whoever I talked with over the phone that misquoted the price and wasted my trip.

I wasn't sure who to go to and looking through various reviews and websites Steel Werx looked like the kind of place that could help me out. On the phone Pawl was reassuring and asked me to come in with the plans I had sketched out. I came in that morning with this very rough draft I had drawn up by hand. Pawl studied it and asked some very succinct questions that showed he entirely understood what I was trying to accomplish. He made some recommendations that I agreed to. Discussion only took about all of five minutes. Surprisingly, he said he could have it done by the afternoon! Before he finished the project he called to let me know he thought my plans had an error for what i needed and indeed he was correct. This had to do with the placement of screw holes that would have not aligned correctly with the cabinets. Again Pawl completely understood what I needed more than I did in a way because he had never seen the cabinets this frame was going inbetween. I had measured my frame out to the 16th of an inch and when I went to pick-up the finished product all the measurements came out to the 16th exactly! The price was a little higher than I had hoped it would be but in my experience craftsmanship like Pawl's is worth every penny. Pawl offered correction to make sure it was right but I didn't need it. It was right the very first time! I couldn't be more happy. This work eliminated a major headache I had with my overall project and the experience was excellent.
