Dake Welding has become our to go place when we have welding needs. They do large projects also, but we have used them for repairs. The first time a L-shaped steel bracket on a larger mower twisted and tore. I took the part in and they had it fixed by the next morning. They seem to understand that small businesses need to get broken items fixed and back in service quickly. Since then, we have used them several times. The weld had broken loose at the base of the cylinder on my metal stool. I took it in to Drake Welding they repaired it right there. I appreciate the attention they gave to my small job. In fact, the owner, Joe, is the one who did the work for me. He also had me first remove the cylinder mechanism because he was concerned the heat from the welding would damage it. I brought them a small stainless steel job which required mitering, welding and cleaning. I needed to make up a dog protector for a large sliding screen door (see pic). The work was done quickly and well. The two folks I dealt with (one over the phone and the other in person) to explain and execute my order were friendly. Here's why I only give it 4 stars - the person in the office I dealt with (I inferred she is part of the family which owns the place) for payment etc was chatty but she made it clear she didn't like how little I was charged for the work. Rather than keeping this to herself and taking it up with her staff, she decided to vent to me, the customer. This was not a good idea and it left me feeling awkward. Had she kept this to herself, I would have left 100% happy instead of 90% happy. That said, I'll be back. They were easy to deal with and did nice work. read more

My ladder rack broke last year and I've used their service to get it fixed for 80 bucks. It recently broke again and they were asking for 140 bucks. I've explained that I got it fixed for 80 bucks at their place and would like to fix it for the same price. Needed some brackets welded onto a car part. Called late in the day and spoke to Sue who asked me to send an email with some pics and a scope of work. Got a response back first thing in the morning confirming they can do the work. Went in and spoke to Don who was very observant and detail oriented. He gave me an estimate and told me to come back in an hour to pick up the part. He gave me a call in 50 minutes telling me my part was done, and ready for pick up, and even better news the project didn't take as long as expected and charged me less than he quoted which was a fair price. The work required precise alignment of brackets which were welded on, and the job came out absolutely perfect. Very nice, precise clean welds. Based on my experience, I'll save prospective customers and Drake some time. This is NOT a welding/fabrication shop to approach with small jobs. I prepared an isometric drawing that was fully dimensioned and provided it to Drake. I needed 4 parts made. It was made very clear, meaning, directly told to me that Drake has plenty of work to do and that my small job was not of interest. As a consumer, I found the tone of the discussion to be downright disrespectful. Me: "I understand that you don't want to make these parts. Do you know any shops that can?" Drake: "Yeah, me! The problem is that I need to make these parts out of three pieces because of the 5 inch dimension. That's not a stock size" Me: "OK, what if we go to the next smallest stock size? What if I get the material?" Drake: "Listen, I don't mean to be rude but I'm not your guy. I have lots of other work to get to." Click! He hung up. When I encounter a company with an attitude like that, I think about the people who are hungry for customers and I think about how some people can be arrogant and disrespectful when they have ability - instead of being good people even when it's not ringing a cash register. I took my truck to Drake Welding to get a custom designed truck rack built. I provided the design. Don at Drake reviewed the design and suggested modifications. Working together we came up with a modified design which was better. Then Drake built the rack to the design specifications. The rack is perfect, thanks to Drake Welding and Don. As to the workload, I too had read in previous reviews that Drake Welding has more work than they can handle. A crack had developed in the center stand of my scooter, and there was room for improvement by adding some additional welds. I called to see if I could get the center stand welded, and Don said to bring it over. Don said he would fix the crack and also said he would do the additional welds to strengthen the center stand. I have a squat rack for my home gym in my garage but I needed two side safety bars (hard to explain but bare with me), which led me to Drake Welding. The two safety bars I originally had were not long enough so I needed more length. Upon arriving, I was politely greeted by Don, who I believe is the owner. He was very courteous and gave me an exact quote. 115 per hour for labor, plus materials etc. The total cost would be anywhere between 450-785 or something of that nature. Now I'm always a bit cautious b/c you will never know how long a project will take. That being said, Don called me a few days later and told me he found a better way to make the safety bars, which will cut down on the labor rate. He didn't promise me anything but said he would try his best. A week later and he calls and it's ready. The entire cost was 345, much lower than his original quote. He could have easily lied, did the job the hard way and charge me more but he did an honest and good job and for that, I commend him and his fellow workers. I highly recommend this place for all your welding needs. I may need some additional things for my home gym and if so, I will not hesitate to come here again. Job well done. read more

For me, 5 stars is a pretty damn good review reserved for truly excellent companies. I brought my travel trailer in to get a couple of brackets welded onto the frame. The owner of the company backed the trailer in for me like a pro (I was a little reluctant as it was a thread the needle type of long backup job). They did the work very quickly and right. And the icing on the cake - the owner charged me less than he quoted on the phone because he said he finished it quicker than expected. I had a 2" square trailer hitch that I needed shortened. I assumed it would need to be cut with a welding torch. The first place I called said they would have to call me back (they never did). I called Drake Welding and was told to "come on down". I did, and they looked at my hitch and said they could cut it more easily with their band saw. This they did, while I waited and charged me $10! I went to Drake Welding after doing research about welding shops in my area. Drake welding seemed to have the best reviews so I decided to give them a shot. I needed some sub-frame reinforcements welded in for my car and after getting my sub-frame back I am extremely pleased with their work. I am by no means an expert on welding, but I do know enough about it to recognize a good weld when I see one and all of the new welds on my sub-frame look great. I can't wait to get this installed and I will have no worries about the quality or strength of the welds when driving my car. Best of all, the prices were great and the customer service was perfect; the people I spoke with when getting an estimate, dropping off, and picking up my sub-frame were extremely nice and I enjoyed talking to them.
