Metal Stair in Residence addition. Metal shops are very busy these days. Juan was good in responding from day one of getting some pricing over in a week. Relationship was good and professional till the end. Interior stairs in general, and mine in particular was certainly some challenge as site conditions where not all parallel. It took the shop a bit of time & site visits to make sure they got it all correct. A bit more feedback on where we are going may have been good at some point. Also reading the drawings was skipped a bit and some corrections had to be made. But Juan did also make some changes that made the stair nicer. These are steel artists not only constructors. Contacted Yeswelding about leak issues and They must be on-site welding. They informed that it will be 4 hours minimum charge, $220/hr and total $880. I agreed to pay. On Monday, they are here for the job. Before hand, removed and cleaned all near by parts components due to accessibility. Now, they informed price is now $1,200. For my, there is no choice nothing but pay. Yeswelding did not commit what they said initially. I do not recommend. read more

Yes Welding did a great job fabricating a 1/2" thick welded steel frame providing an invisible support for our solid surface countertop with a 16" cantilever. I stopped by their shop on a Wednesday with a dimensioned sketch and a tight time constraint. Juan provided a very reasonable quote and thought he could have the job done by the weekend assuming the material was available. The frame was complete on Friday afternoon and his crew loaded the very heavy item into the back of my van. The frame fit perfectly and the countertop installers were impressed. I call and made an appt for him to come quote our commercial office for a security gate because multiple businesses have been broken into and we were desperate in fear of us being next. So he comes the next day and takes a few minutes to measure and promises to email us an estimate. I send him our email immediately and 4 days after. There is no estimate in my email. I text him and he says he got our email and he says he is working on it. Its been a month and i never heard from him. So i found another guy who quoted and ordered us a gate the same say. My railings that were installed started to show signs of surface rust, specifically the top railing where people grab. It looked extremely bad and not like something you should see inside a home. Yet another successful tradesperson who doesn't know how to manage his schedule, and cavalierly abuses the schedule of others in order to compensate. I took in a simple job (a crankshaft for a pottery wheel, constructed of 1" rod and 1/2 plate) the week before Thanksgiving. This is a project for my kid's school, for which I'd done a bunch of research, had photographs, drawings, dimensions, everything, even brought my kid in to show him the shop since I'd had such a good experience here years ago. Apparently things have changed. . . Was told by Juan that they were busy and couldn't get it done before Thanksgiving. I said fine, a week or two after would be fine. Called back last week (12/8?), parts are in and will probably get to it this week. Called this week(12/15), it's not done. Asked if it would be done by Christmas, answer was no. Reason given "Very busy with other customers" No commitment as to when it would be done, no answer for why money/project isn't as good as someone else's, etc. etc. Juan claims to have told me something like "We will try to get to it, but I can't guarantee anything" back before Thanksgiving. Very simply, if this had been what he said, I wouldn't have given him the project. This because of the timeline for my project: the completed wheel is needed for use starting in January. Thanks a lot for making this policy crystal clear though, repeatedly, Juan. It really helped me to understand what kind of so-and-so I am dealing with. I strongly advise anyone reading this review to take into careful consideration the *EXPRESSED POLICY* of *UNRELIABLE* delivery before hiring this company. They are simply not trustworthy. As the other reviewer noted, these guys are unreliable. I called them for an appointment and they asked me to text them my address. I texted it to them so they have my address and phone number. I waited at home on a weekday when I should be working. They never showed up and they didn't have the decency to call to let me know. Guess what, if you guys can't even make an appointment, or have the courtesy to tell me you won't take the job rather than just leaving me hanging like that, then I don't think you can be trusted to do proper work and follow through with complete customer satisfaction. Update 5/18/14: So the owner Juan sent me this message from Yelp: "I'm tired of stupid people like you who think it is perfect and looked at your message tell me where it says that I had to meet you at 8 am in the morning on a Friday" Mind you, this was after I texted him my address to confirm the meeting which he confirmed with me via PHONE that he can stop by at 8AM on Friday. We hired Juan to fabricate and install 120 feet of stainless steel cable railing for our patio. Juan said stainless steel was superior to any other railing material because it would not RUST and he guaranteed top quality work. Unfortunately, we did not receive the results he had promised. At least 4 times his guys did not show up on the appointed day or time he said they would come. And he did not bother to email or call to let us know. It was very apparent that he was behind on his other jobs because his guys would show up whenever and seemed rushed. The installation was very poorly done. First, they did not drill the holes into the concrete patio in a straight line, so when they started piecing together the rails, it came out crooked. They did a lousy job smoothing out the areas where they welded and left open cracks and black welding marks on rail and cable. And for whatever reason, they kept using different grade sandpaper when polishing the rail so everything looks inconsistent. When I brought up these issues to Juan his response was "this is the best we can do". About a week after they left the railings started to RUST. I sent Juan pictures and he said that stainless steel can rust. Say again?! That is the opposite of what he said when he was bidding for the job. Juan sent his guys back to clean the rust off but the rust returned. I again sent Juan pictures and let him know we were very unhappy with the results and he has ignored us. Perhaps Juan has gotten too big and busy to care about his customers or his reputation anymore. I have posted pictures of their "quality work". read more

Juan is unreliable. I would not hire this contractor. I wasted my time. I took time off work to meet with Juan. He was on time. I spent an hour with him evaluating the project. He was supposed to send me an estimate within two days. I called him two days later, and he said, he would send it the next day. It been over a week, and no estimate. I probably dogged a bullet. I really recommend Juan for any project to be honest. We were installing a new hood and we had a problem with the hood duct cover since we have vaulted ceilings. My contractor wanted me to buy another cover and he was going to Frankenstine the two together. I of course declined. I contacted Juan and he was very prompt to respond. He came to my house, gave me an estimate and took the existing duct cover. He was able to seamlessly incorporate another piece of stainless steel to the existing cover and you cannot even tell he did any work on it. Juan came out the next day after my initial call and gave me an estimate for a custom handrail. The handrail traversed stairs two short landings and curves. It exceeded my expectations. Unbeknownst to me, the handrail included hidden remote control lighting, which was a very nice touch. Per my request, they reconfigured the lighting to accommodate to my existing electrical power source. I read other reviews regarding delays. From start to finish my project took one month; in this fast paced society may sound like a long time. Last November I came to Juan for assistance in two things. Lower door repair and install rear seats in my Land Rover. He told me he was busy, can I wait a month? I said sure, that is doable. A month goes by, and ring him up, he tells me come in next Monday, and we can fit you in. I say,sure, that will work. I did advise him that i have an appointment scheduled with my mechanic the following week, so can he finish in a week. "No problem" Juan says. He told me up front he would have to do the doors himself, since he was the only one technically qualified to do them. Juan gets sick, cannot fault him for that, but then delay after delay. He wouldn't return my calls, I would stop by, he wasn't there, no updates to my Land Rover. I decided to use another phone to call, he picks right up. I told Juan, as my mechanic was also busy at the time, don't worry about the doors being fixed, I will come back later to get them done, I had more pressing issues to work on, we can revisit them when you are less busy. He says, fine, you can pick up your car in the morning. Next morning comes along and one of his journeyman is welding on my doors, after I told them to not move forward. I was also confused as he told me he was the only one that could do it. He charges me $1200. I asked for an itemized invoice so i can keep it for my file. Again, "no problem. - he would get it to me that afternoon." I emailed him twice afterwards, through his website, respectfully asking for a copy of the detailed invoice. No responses. It wasn't the work in question, as he knows his stuff, it was all the b/s that was involved. It would have been better for both parties if he just said no and referred me to a different fabricator. My 12 year old son recently got introduced to blacksmithing. To start him off my, boyfriend made him an anvil and it required a welding of steel pieces together creating a stable structure to adjust the height of the anvil as he grows.
