Went to Antonio's Upstairs in Maitland last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. I ordered the Chicken Marsala. It was absolutely delicious. Maybe the best I have ever had. The service, as always, was exemplary. I love the white tablecloths and black napkins. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I already have reservations to return for Magical Dining. Reviewing for both lunch and dinner, as I had the opportunity to dine at Antonio's for both recently. DINNER - UPSTAIRS Great service. Amazing food. A great place for a nice dinner out. As a starter, we had the burrata. I love burrata and theirs was great. For the main course, I had the Pappardelle with Salmon and my boyfriend had the Lobster Ravioli. We both LOVED our dishes. Mine had the most delicious and rich cream sauce. And there was enough for leftovers the next day. They have a nice wine selection. What's an Italian meal without wine? And they have a selection of mixed drinks as well. We only ordered from the wine menu so I can't speak to the mixed drinks. And then, we have dessert. I can't go to an Italian restaurant and not order tiramisu. And their tiramisu was delicious. Worth ordering if you enjoy the dessert. LUNCH - DOWNSTAIRS Antonio's serves lunch downstairs in their market. You also have the option to sit outside. When we dined in for lunch, we chose to dine inside because of the Florida heat. Once again, great service and great food. Their lunch menu has a nice mix of some of the same items they offer for dinner but I chose to keep lunch on the lighter side. For a starter, we had the bruschetta and, as my main, I had a lovely salad with goat cheese and balsamic. It was the perfect filling amount for lunch - not too heavy. THE MARKET I love the market downstairs. The perfect place to go to pick up ingredients for making a nice Italian meal at home. They have a selection of meats, sides and desserts. I must say we were impressed with this place. My husband and I decided to try the downstairs cafe out for a change. We found the wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu items. We started out with the antipasto and were informed that a better choice was the Levoni and they were right, it was delicious. Then I am extremely picky about my Cabernets so I described to Will (our server) exactly what taste I was looking for and he selected the Austin Hope - perfect choice - it did not disappoint. I grew up going to Antonio's. My nana use to take me all the time it was her favorite. For the past 22 years I've always ordered pizza, until recently. As I've grown much older my taste buds obviously changed and this entree caught my eye. I'm soooo glad I tried it. It's so full of flavor, the shrimp is seasoned so well. Brought my folks here for a fancy date night. Our table wasn't quite ready yet so we went down to the first floor to shop around. What a nice deli! We were called up in about 15 min and seated at a table with white table cloths and dim lighting. The menu was large and leather appearing. Items can be a bit expensive here, but we came for a fancy night and always remember, you get what you pay for! We started with appetizers and we were not bombarded with our entrees. We had plenty of time to digest and chat before our entrees arrived. I paired my dish with wine but since I was the only one drinking, I ordered by the glass. Mom didn't finish her dish. they did not hesitate when she asked for a box. No dinner is complete without dessert and coffee! Parking is tricky. We were lucky. There isn't much there. Not sure what people do when the lot is full? Bathrooms are clean. Great place to grab an appetizer and share a bottle of wine on the outdoor second floor patio! I wanted to take a client out to dinner and decided on this magical dining menu that looked decent. We had an early dinner around 5:45 so the place wasn't that busy. It has been years since I've been to this Antonio's and I also remember as a kid i went to the Antonio's on sand lake so this place isn't unfamiliar to me. This was the first time coming without my family. Sadly it just did not live up to my expectations. The calamari as the first course was decent, but nothing spectacular. The veal Marsala as my second course tasted nothing like a normal veal marsala, I felt like it had way to much pepper and it was overpowering. I've been to many Italian restaurants all over town and have ordered veal Marsala so I feel like I know what I'm looking for. The mousse was okay, but for some reason after the main course, it took forever for either the server or the runner to come back to our table. My client had another appointment after and it had already been about 1.5 hours for just two course at a very early dinner time. I do love the feel of this place as well as the market downstairs, but I don't see myself returning in the future. read more

I dined at Antonio's last night for the first time and had a wonderful experience. This place is a true fine dining experience, but the prices are very reasonable. We had bruschetta and calamari to start and I had the best chicken parmesan I've ever had as an entree. For dessert, we ordered the coconut cake and chocolate cake and both were delicious. My husband and I stumbled on this place for Date Night and boy were we pleased!!! It's very cool that they have a Deli downstairs where you can buy Italian goodies, wines, meats and spirits. Upstairs feels like a whole different location! It's cozy and welcoming and the service is impeccable! Our server, David, was kind, knowledgeable and always ensured our needs were met. Well I was a fan and visited many times. My last experience was not so pleasant as we were denied a table by the manager because we informed him we were going to have a couple of cocktails and place a to go order. We have done this a few times to date but they insisted on making room for others who planned on eating there.!!! If this is about money how did they know I wasn't ordering for 10-20 people along with a bottle of wine? Makes zero sense. We went outside to wait with our drinks from the takeout line and it was pretty cold out and nobody was sitting outside when another employee came out and said they would allow it this time since nobody is out there! Really??? Would you like us to drink in the back kitchen perhaps while we wait for our order? Quite comical and won't be visiting there anytime soon. Antonio's was incredible! I came here with my boyfriend for lunch on a Saturday in the downstairs market. I didn't really know what to expect walking in, it looks like a wine and small food market. It was divided into food cases on the right, walls of wine on the right as well as three seating areas for dining. The two gentlemen hosts inside the door were friendly, welcoming and engaging. They spoke to us briefly about the wine and scotch offerings and asked great questions to be able to recommend a wine to purchase from their many, many options on the wall to enjoy with lunch. We sat in one of the three seating sections they have divided off with a half wall of shelving with things for sale: jams, salsas, crackers, dried pasta etc. The section we sat in was lower lighting, more intimate and cozy with smaller tables and less of them, which I appreciated. The other two areas are larger and seemed better fit for groups of four or more and were louder. Our waitress came right over with bread, butter and water. She was attentive and checked back with us often as we took some time to order as I was looking at the menu and talking a little too much. The bread was soft, warm and they gave us a few varieties. The menu offered a little of everything. Appetizers included caprese, garlic knots, bruschetta and a few others. Main dishes included Italian classics: lasagna with meat & red sauce or chicken lasagna with white sauce, eggplant parmesan, ravioli, spaghetti, penne, lots of chicken options, soups, salads, pizza, and fish options. It was very hard to choose, but I had the chicken lasagna and my boyfriend had the eggplant parmesan. My chicken lasagna was huge! I should have cut it in half but we had plans after lunch so I couldn't take it with me. Naturally, I didn't want to waste it so I ate the whole thing! It was several layers with lots of creamy, incredible white sauce. I dipped several pieces of bread in the sauce also. It was very flavorful and filling. My boyfriends eggplant parmesan was crispy and delicious. The portions were very generous. After the entrees, they offered dessert from the menu or you could choose anything from the cases in the market also. We were way too full to indulge but I will be trying something in the future. Great food and atmosphere! This is our go-to restaurant for Italian food. Always consistent!

Decided to try this highly recommended restaurant. We came in at the tail end of happy hour and although it doesn't say it on the menu our waitress let us know that all wine and cocktails were $2 off and beer was a $1 off for happy hour. I tried the 1786 Martini and my husband tried the speakeasy. They were good cocktails but nothing special. We also tried the steak tips from the bar menu. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and the sauce was tasty. For our entrees we tried the veal piccata and veal marsala. The marsala dishes were recommended by the waitress as the marsala sauce is simmered for hours to create a reduction. Unfortunately, the sauce for having been reduced I felt it was on the thin side and not as flavorful as I hoped. The vegetable side was cooked perfectly, in that sweet spot of being cooked but still crispy. The mashed potatoes were also fresh and tasted homemade. Overall the portions are a good size and the food taste good and is presented nicely, a solid 4 stars. read more

Thank goodness this place is close to where I work. It's my and my coworkers' favorite for work lunches when we want to treat ourselves. We always head upstairs because it's a nice, relaxing atmosphere. You can get a lot of quality food for a decent price. Just park in the back parking lot and head up the stairs. I always struggle not to fill up on bread. It comes out warm with olive oil and herbs for dipping, so it's tough to turn down. I usually order the Pappardelle with Salmon and a wedge salad (included with the entree). It's a decadent dish which will make you want a nap afterwards, but it's worth it. Just order an espresso at the end of your meal to offset it. My coworkers love the Eggplant Involtini, so I'd recommend that pasta dish as well. I've tried some of their specials and they were all good too, so I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu honestly. If you're looking for a more casual setting, check out the downstairs market which also has several tables available. Just be prepared for it to be busy. read more

LOVE downstairs, eaten there a million times. Always great. My husband treated me to a birthday dinner upstairs, as I have always wanted to try. We are not picky people but this was the most unpleasant experience we have ever had at a restaurant that I can remember. Our server was simply awful. She looked ill and maybe that was the reason our service was nonexistent. Our filled wine glasses sat up at the bar for 20 min. before she brought them over to us. She must have walked past them 5 times. Later my husband wanted to order another glass, but she completely ignored us. Unfortunately most of our dishes were not good either. My veal marsala was so salty I could not eat it. My friend's roasted chicken was so dry, she barely touched it. My husband said his veal parm was good but he was so furious about the lack of service on this special occasion, I could see him steaming. (She never once came back over to ask how everything was or if we needed anything, never offered dessert inspite of being my b-day) We got our bill, left and bought desserts downstairs to take home. I went here on Magical Dining for my bf's birthday. He and greatly enjoyed it. The options I chose were Smoked Salmon, NY Strip Steak, Tiramisu. My drink was the Whatsa Matta U. My drink taste tends to be leaning for Whiskey and Bailey's which it had. The coffee taste was nice. The smoke salmon was a bit small. Two small crostini. This for me was good since I wanted more space for the other two dishes. Just a fair warning for anybody ordering. My bf ordered the fried calamari and it was very yummy. My New York Strip steak was medium rare (my preference). Great quality and nice and red. Enjoyed the mash potatoes with it. The tiramisu was very huge. It was very good and soft. Antonio's was mid at best. I got chicken parm and we split calamari as an appetizer. The chicken breading kept falling off and it was way too saucy. The calamari was very chewy, did not taste fresh at all. The server stated himself that the kitchen was slow, and indeed the service was extremely slow. The interior of the restaurant was a bit outdated, just not my vibe for an italian restaurant. I almost never write reviews but feel compelled to do so after my experience this Friday. We've been customers and even advocates of Antonio's, both upstairs and down, for over 25 years. And when it's 'pizza night', we drive the 10+ miles every 3-4 weeks to get theirs as take out from the Cafe. Despite the dozens of closer alternatives, we've enjoyed theirs so much it was worth the effort. Until now. As usual, we ordered two par-cooked pies to reheat ourselves, a pasta, Caesar salad and an extra bottle of dressing ($91 for all). A couple hours later, getting everything ready for dinner guests, we realize the dressing was never bagged, and the pre-packaged salad greens were wilted beyond recovery. (Dark green and some soft to the point of nearly mushy). My spouse called first and spoke with a representative who apologized and recalled the dressing not being bagged and had already issued a credit....great and thank you! But this is where things also went south. She advised that for the salad, we'd have to drive it back to them to see it before they could do anything. Thinking this a bit unreasonable (who asks for takeout to be returned for inspection?), I called back and spoke with "A" (name withheld... manager I think, but not sure) who reiterated 'the policy'. Frustrated, I explained that I was not inclined to drive an hour round trip to return a salad to prove it was rotting and also, our dinner guests were now arriving as we were on the phone. I offered to send a photo, which he refused. Over the next few minutes, he twice asked why I had not checked it when I took it from the case. I explained that we even took one from the back, assuming fresher and colder, and that the expiration was still 3 days from now. I also suggested that A customer shouldn't have to check their quality and freshness on a premade side salad they're charging $9 for. Again, I'd have to drive it back. " it's our policy and only the owner can authorize a refund". After a bit more exasperating back and forth, I mentioned that maybe I should just do a review on Yelp instead. In response, he yelled "are you threatening me?!" twice. I ended the call shortly after this and threw the salad out to focus on enjoying dinner with our friends. As I mentioned, I rarely write reviews and just move on from a poor experience, but it was this reaction that has prompted me to do so in this case. I initially wrote this thinking it may have been a bad moment for them. But then, after seeing the owner's shockingly argumentative responses on other unfavorable reviews (particularly on Google, like: "... maybe you should eat at Golden Corral"), it's pretty clear their service culture is that THEY are always right. Unappreciative customers be damned. I would truly welcome them to prove this wrong. read more
