ABO is a hidden gem in Winter Park! Small cozy spot hidden behind Park Ave - the restaurant is small with tables outside as well. We've been here several times and always get the seafood tower! It has a nice variety of options from oysters, Dungeness crab, lobster dip and shrimp. Soooo good and very fresh!! I came by here unexpectedly as I was walking Winter Park and noticed that they had a happy hour offering that was too good to refuse. I ordered myself some oysters at the bar and they were extremely fresh in the service was amazing. The special price they were offering for the oysters was amazing with $1.50 each. Once we walked into this establishment - Ervin greeted us and made us feel right at home. The venue makes you feel like you are near beach houses at a restaurant - bar on the water. Picture parking in a city in central Florida but once you walk in you feel like you are in South Florida on the water - enjoying some oysters before you go fishing. I ordered the seacuterie (a little bit of everything -- my go-to) and the Lime in the Coconut cocktail, which was absolutely delicious. Enjoyed a weekday lunch at ABO on a lovely day without crowds in downtown WP. Food was good, our server was excellent, however service from the kitchen was surprisingly slow. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived, and two other parties came in after we ordered. I'm assuming the same kitchen serves both ABO and Boca, and perhaps they were busier on the Boca side. There is about 4 tables inside plus 4 seats at the bar. A few tables outside. Everyone is so friendly! Happy hour is fantastic! Can get half a dozen oysters for $9 and it's fresh and delicious, they had two kinds the night we were there. Peel and eat shrimp was also $9 at happy hour, great flavor and they were cooked perfectly and had great flavors. We also got the crab legs which was also good (not happy hour included). This place was tiny, crowded and actually a little challenging to find. But once you get there it is most definitely worth the wait. This looks like a typical oyster bar stand. The restaurant had six tables inside and a couple outside. Needless to say it is small! Servers had to walk sideways to get through the few tables that were there. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp. They came out quick. Cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and absolutely delicious. And, they were decent sized. Next we ordered the lobster bruschetta and the lobster wontons. The bruschetta was very fresh and clean, not heavy with sauces or fillers. The cucumbers gave it a delicious brightness. The wontons were completely different. They also were not heavily filled with useless mayo sauces. There was a citrus undertone with soy sauce. Again, absolutely delicious. Finally we ate the fish and chips. Perfectly cooked. But the fries!!!!! They were so good! They were not greasy or too salty, they were perfect. My only complaint was I felt my cocktail was watered down and the service was slow. Sad to write this review as a Winter Park native who has recommended this restaurant to others. We went to sit down at a table after the waitress said it was first come, first serve. Then we were quickly approached by what seemed to be the manager and were told rudely to "get up" because there were three other parties outside waiting. We then tried to explain what the waitress told us and received a snarky response of "okay, buddy" directed at my boyfriend.
