Very causal with outdoor seating and a huge space inside with a lot of seating including a barstool area. The menu is extensive, unfortunately not many vegetarian options but there are some. Dessert showcase as well as an espresso machine of which I didn't try but should have. The veggie arepa was very good. The filling was full of flavor and a nice balance of different ingredients. Popped in for an empanada and will have to come back to try more of their food. We each got a Venezuelan beef empanadas to go. The meat was juicy and delicious - the crust was thick and crispy. Almost had more of a cornmealy texture, which we really enjoyed. Also the green sauce was to die for. Delicious and very filling! I can't tell if the restaurant is new or if it was because it was Friday evening, but the display counter was very sparse with sweet treats that seemed store bought and didn't look very enticing. I'm a food delivery driver. Walked in, got told the order would be two minutes. Five minutes later got told five more minutes. Waited ten more minutes, they tell me they're just packing it up. Waited five more minutes, they try to tell me it's "almost ready." I gave up at that point, unassigned rhe order, and left. I got the street corn- I grew up with this dish in El Salvador but am used to having mole and some mustard, added to it, and wish I asked for hot sauce to add to it. But it was delicious! As always! This is one of my all time favorite foods. In school, this is the lunch meal my sisters and I would bring money to buy. So I'm always excited to see it on menus! I had chicken taco plate- amazing!! I wish i got extra sauce though! More hot sauce the better so just request it. I requested extra cilantro on my Uber eats order but didn't get it, and no limes. But otherwise very good. Good tortillas I didn't need two for. Tortillas one help up perfectly. Lastly I got plantains. Another salvadorian staple-but I saved them for breakfast and they were delicious as always! Stopped in looking for a quick casual meal on a Friday after some errands. The food was incredible. We got a veggie arepa, pork patacones, Mexican corn and fried plantains. Everything was outstanding except for the plantains which were a little oily for my taste (but I'm sensitive to that kind of thing. They're fried after all...) The service was poor. The gentleman working the counter said it would take 15 mins for a carry out order. It actually took 45. There were two people working and they were scattered. It's an order at the counter type of situation. There's also a bar in the back so they're balancing service of those patrons as well. I would definitely call in for an order. Very delicious food! The order we got was great. I am Colombian so I was proud of this food! The churrasco lover is my favorite it comes with arepa, salad with salsa, melted cheese and steak at the bottom. The juices are yummy as well! We got Lulo, passion fruit and mora! It's a great big space and a good amount of people came in! We got there at 8! Recommend!! ALSO THE SALCHIPAPAS ARE THE BOM! We ALWAYS order when we get Uber eats so we switched it up tonight. The food is amazing don't get me wrong! But the service is horrible! When you call to place an order the phone is constantly busy! You can't get through to anybody in there. I go here regularly and every single time it's a hassle to place a phone order and if you do it in person you're sitting there forever! They have to do better or just don't take to go orders at this point. read more

A must go-to place whenever we're in Riverhead. I would definitely drive 25 mins for it. Highlights are the arepas, patacones (Dominican style!), and mofongo. The coffee is refreshingly well done with a comfort feeling of home. And can't forget about the fresh made juices/smoothies. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the food makes you forget you're eating in NY. You are transported to other countries. I simply don't know why it isn't packed every time we go. This is definitely the place to go. They have many bake goods items, smoothies and even have food. The staff Jose Enrique was very friendly and delivered outstanding service. The owner was behind the counter and was extremely caring and explained the dishes. She definitely has an excellent establishment and the food was delicious. Had the patacón it was amazing the sauce was perfect the meat was juicy, the arepa stuffed with roasted pork was an excellent mix of salty and juicy was amazing! Mexican tostada was also amazing the wrap was crispy and the meat was tender. The smoothies Jose Enrique recommended the Sunshine smooth it really brought the sun I have to say fruits were fresh and the drink overall was excellent. Delicious! The birria tacos here are flavorful and my top choice! I'm also a huge fan of the salchipapas. They have cheese curds, hot dog, and lettuce with a delicious sauce. The employees are also very friendly and and helpful. My husband also tried the patacon with shredded beef which was also delicious. For dessert we tried the flan and tres leches. Both hit the spot. This is my go-to eatery when in Riverhead. I love everything about this place and don't usually write reviews. Upon entering, the design and layout of the Antigua Cafe feels immediately friendly and tropical. I am always greeted with genuine care & friendliness, and that is only the beginning. My regular order is a large passion fruit juice, which has pretty much become a non-negotiable, especially as it gets warmer! As for whenever I order food, I am always satisfied with what I get. The food tastes delicious and everything I've tried makes me want to try more on their menu. I love their empanadas and had their BLT with avocado yesterday morning. This cafe has officially replaced what has been my go-to breakfast spot for months, which in comparison, does not compete: mainly comparing cost, ingredient quality and the overall experience. read more
