Walking into this place I met Steven the owner. A very psychedelic and knowledgeable man. He was friendly and polite. He answered all my questions regarding personal health. I got a smoothie and he added some things that he didn't mention, but it was well worth it, it was delicious. I walked around and noticed the place wasn't the most organized, but everything he sold was related to personal health and enlightenment. This place has been in Riverhead for awhile now. I definitely plan to go back. Next time I go I wonder if Austin Powers will be there?

I was only shopping for the ingredients for dinner and zucchini bread, so just quickly explored the store. Service was friendly and helpful. There's a sense of order, as opposed to the chaos of Lidl. This is reminiscent of the Sprouts chain in Colorado, maybe slightly more upscale. Very clean store.

There was no produce, a few dead plants, a few things that looked like they were going bad in the indoor freezers and refrigerators of this place, some rotting onions and a cash register that was unattended. This all wouldn't be that troubling, but this is a working farm with lots of animals on it, so I wondered how long these guys had been alone for. I took a walk around and everyone seemed to have water at least and some hay that looked decently fresh, but the goats here looked starved for attention. There was some feed left by the front of the store so we threw some in for them. No idea what's going on at this place and whether or not it's actually still running, but it was shocking to see the state this place is in (and surprising to see reviews of people who say they've purchased fresh produce or fresh anything recently).

They have local produce, cheeses, pickles, nut bars, baked goods and other items. It looks like they have 25 to 30 vendors. Some vendors are not local but in NYS such as Springbrook farm distillery. It's located in the Adirondacks. Today they had samples of their bourbon, gin, orangecello and cowboy coffee. I recommend the Cowboy coffee made from locally roasted coffee, sort of a cross between kalua and bailys. Each week there is live entertainment from a local musician. Worth a visit if you are in the area, only 15 minutes from Tanger.

The store is not well-lit though it's a barn so take it with a grain of salt. They have some unique items if you take a look. Came here last year during the pandemic after Mother's Day weekend, there were plenty of plants and vegetable plants to choose from. Guess not a lot of people came to buy plants last year so we got a unique items last year including black cherry tomatoes, yellow watermelon, various types of lavenders, and bunch of other plants. We took a chance on a dried up banana tree that was for $10 and gave it as a gift as well as the other items we brought ($4 each, I believe). The tree survived. It's currently thriving and we are waiting for the tree to produce bananas. Last year and this year they also had baby chicks in the greenhouse. It's makes my day to see the chicks and you know it's Springtime. We went again this year after Mother's Day weekend and there were a few places and vegetables available. I picked up lavender grotto ($5), citronella ($5), and some succulents ($10). No dying or last leg plants this year. The choices were more limited since folks came out to buy the fruits and vegetables early this year now that places are opening up again. Guess we need to go early.

Produce section was seriously picked over, but I did get spring mix and a couple of other things. They don't have GF tortillas (Lidl does), or bread. They didn't have any GF pizza dough, either. They DID have fresh boneless SKINLESS salmon, and a YUMMY fresh GF lemon basil tortellini!! Skinless salmon isn't easy to find. I don't like skinning it. I either blacken it, or grind it and make burgers, so I don't want the skin. So this was a most excellent trip. Blackened salmon, tortellini, and a salad were a perfect dinner. Cashiers are swift and efficient. Alas, one has to bag one's own groceries, and I don't like that. But that's the norm everywhere, except Costco. ALDI has sort of a bargain-store ambience. I can't quite figure out how they manage that with a grocery store.

I actually have anxiety before going there. There's a woman who works there & runs around like nut, doesn't care if you are in her way - she's going for it. I dread when she's on register & I get her. She's snippy, rushes you like the place is going to blow up any minute. Snapped at the very elderly man behind me because he didn't realize or hear what she had said. From now on I will wait around for a different register line to open. And No, I'm not putting my card in the machine until I'm ready to pay.
