I don't give out very many one star reviews, but this was such an offputting experience that I…read moredon't have much of a choice. I came to Goodale during normal business hours (according to Google anyway) and what I pulled up to looked like an abandoned farm. There was no one to be found anywhere. There was no produce, a few dead plants, a few things that looked like they were going bad in the indoor freezers and refrigerators of this place, some rotting onions and a cash register that was unattended. This all wouldn't be that troubling, but this is a working farm with lots of animals on it, so I wondered how long these guys had been alone for. I took a walk around and everyone seemed to have water at least and some hay that looked decently fresh, but the goats here looked starved for attention. There was some feed left by the front of the store so we threw some in for them. No idea what's going on at this place and whether or not it's actually still running, but it was shocking to see the state this place is in (and surprising to see reviews of people who say they've purchased fresh produce or fresh anything recently).

After ordering produce from them for the first time, I threw everything in the trash. Most of the…read morevegetables had started browning and did not appear to be fresh. Part of my order was in an Aldi bag, which left me confused. The bag that contained the green beans had a gas-like smell. I won't make another purchase from them.

We are back a little earlier this year! This time with my sister, the girls, and Bubs. This will be…read moreone of my forever favorite farms because you can have the kids play for free out by wooden tractors and trains. There is a store to purchase a bunch of pies and produce as well as stands where you can get some goodies like popcorn and cookies. The building all the way to the far right is accessible to the public and when you go in, it a spacious area with a bar. They are waiting on a liquor license so you can get your apple cider slushes and chill for a bit. Apples were available for picking but Bubs for tires by the time we walked over to U-pick. We will be back when the pumpkins are full grown for sure.

I sampled some of the available apples and they were not that sweet but I had already paid for the box ($67 for one peck) so I just picked the ones that were ok. I also picked lots of string beans, so it wasn't a complete waste. I was told it was a rip off but I enjoyed the experience. Fast forward a few days and now the apples are very sweet and crisp! Better than what you get at the supermarket for sure. The green beans are also fresh and not like the mushy bags you get at Trader Joe's. There's nothing like farm to table. They also have a nice bakery with excellent cheese bread and pies. Very fresh and warm when we bought them. The location is closer to Nassau and Manhattan than other farms on Long Island. We wanted to go to Milk Pail but it was a longer drive.
