I truly don't understand all the negative reviews because I've always had such a positive experience at this Anthropologie. I was looking at all the new arrivals and picked a few to try but they weren't flattering on me. I ended up going to the sales rack again and decided to grab a dress that I didn't quite love at first. As soon as I tried it on, it fit beautifully. They're having an additional 40% off until today so my dress was originally $188 and I paid roughly $80 for it. read more

Incredibly rude customer service. My friend and I came in about 30 min before close (didn't know this at the time) and tried on a few dresses and then when it was 10 minutes to 7pm on a SATURDAY night in Old Town they very aggressively got us out of the top section and we went to check out downstairs. We each bought a very expensive dress and they practically threw us out of there at 7:02....totally appreciate following business hours but there should still be customer service, especially when we're making purchases! Will shop online next time. read more

Was at this location today looking for a skirt (not a sale item) that I tried on in the Georgetown store and didn't see. The sales associate went to look for it, brought back the wrong skirt, and never said, you can order it at the register. She just said, "We don't have it." I ordered it online. Surprising that in a fairly upscale retail store, this is how a customer is treated. Such unbelievable consistent poor service--unimproved since my review last year. read more

A shout out to the manager Mikaela! She gave me wonderful styling tips that I would never have thought of! I'm a new mom so I went for a couple of tops. When she saw them as I was checking out and found out that I was a new mom she gave me several helpful suggestions how to style them, look youthful and still be comfortable! The following is my observation based on my personal experiences in specific stores and not an indictment of the company as a whole. In 20+ years I have never entered any anthropologie store in the DC metropolitan area where the entire staff was 100% caucasian. I have never seen one employee that was male or even identified as male. The absence of seemingly all types of diversity has disturbed me for years and for years I have never spent one cent at any anthropologie because of it. Odd because it is a subsidiary of Urban and they have employees that run the gamut of the diversityspectrum. So is it just a coincidence that only the days I just happened to pop into an anthropologie that all the male and/or other ethnic employes are off or is it that anthropologie has not done the same as their parent Urban Outfitters? I have been in this store a few times and it's been ok. I visited the store today, March 11, and my experience was one of the most awkward I have had. The greeter was cheerful and spoke, fine, that's what she's supposed to do. A cashier looked at me oddly, I thought it was odd, but I kept shopping. I go to the back of store to continue to browse, after picking up a dress, and suddenly the greeter pops up to ask if I need a dressing room. I've worked retail... I have NEVER seen a greeter leave their spot in the front to ask someone in the back if they need a dressing room. I was not about to run out of the store with the dress in my hand. (Before someone says it, the floor was well staffed). When I go to my dressing room, guess what? The greeter is back at the front door. I go upstairs to try on my dress, but honestly by this point I didn't want to complete my purchase, and guess what I see? Someone actually stealing and stuffing items in her sleeve. But they were so worried about me stealing they missed someone actually stealing. I'll probably shop at other locations or online, because this location made me mad today. How about you treat potential customers better? read more

I just had an emergency abdominal surgery two weeks ago. I wanted to get outside to walk around because I will heal faster if I move. I walked inside the store to shop. I wanted to buy a few things, but suddenly I had a very, very strong urge to use the bathroom. The lady could see I didn't look comfortable. I asked her if I could use her bathroom. She called someone on the intercom to see if I could use their bathroom. They said no!!!!! I told them I was in a lot of pain. They said no again!!! Don't expect to use their bathroom or receive empathy from any of the staff members. Smh read more

Two floors of Anthropologie goodness with the top floor being smaller and housing bedding and home products interspersed with clothing. Downstairs is where you can find most of the clothing, jewelry, books, and other home products such as dishes, aprons, and cooking utensils. I found the sale section to be in very tight quarters. As for the rest of the store, ample space to stroll and drool over Anthropologie clothes. It must have been an off day everywhere I went because I did not get greeted by anyone or asked if I needed help. If this is indicative of customer service in Alexandria, VA, I don't think Old Town has quite the charm as it appears to have. read more

Excellent selection at this location! Friendly employees here were available all over the store and made this a pleasant shopping experience! This store may be small, but it has everything I need! I like to compare different locations interiors to one another and this one was warm and inviting without being too warm (or humid) inside. The interior receives a lot of natural light and it really impressed upon the consumer the full experience of shopping at an Anthro - I suppose that's where they came up with their name! read more

I'm glad my mom convinced me to come in here and let her be my personal shopper. I'll admit that I am guilty of living in jeans and a t-shirt all the time and don't venture much outside that but I decided to expand my wardrobe for once. The store is beautiful and much bigger than it appears from King Street. I found a whole bunch of cute items here that are light and airy (perfect for summer) with a feminine touch. They aren't cheap but aren't cheaply made either so you get what you pay for. The sizes run somewhat big and the styles flatter all kinds of body shapes and sizes from stick thin to curvy. The ladies in the dressing room were super nice - thanks! I will be back as soon as possible. read more

Good selection. Very clean. Neat layout. Nice and bright interior makes you want to spend money. The entire vibe of the store is good down to the music. Choices here are better than Reston and similar to the much larger Georgetown location. read more

Every time I'm in Old Town, I am here. They have a fairly decent sales rack -- BUT, prepared to be squished when there are markdowns. The area is too small to host the crowds that pile in there! The store is a bit confusing with the upstairs, though. If you can manage the stairs, it can be worth it. Good selection of home items, esp. vases. read more

By far one of the best stocked Anthropologies in the area. I've visited the Reston, Georgetown, Penn Quarter and Alexandria locations (I kinda like Anthropologie a lot) and the Alexandria location is one of the best ones, only second to Georgetown. Staff is friendly and parking is very easy which cannot be said about Georgetown (Parking, not the staff). read more

I'm visiting from California. Our DC/Old Town Alexandria trip plan didn't include King St. shopping, but because of the inclement weather, my family and I strolled from our hotel down to the Banana Republic, Gap, & Anthropologie stores before lunch. I'm writing to let you know that the 3 staff members were too busy to greet me or the only other shopper that was in the store at the time. I picked up a bottle of bubble bath from the "sale" area to use in my jacuzzi tub and a pair of sunglasses... when I went to check out, the (Asian female) employee rang me up with the worst RBF-- no "how are you" or typical pleasantries at the beginning or end of the transaction. I don't advise shopping here if you don't have to. The stock & selection is limited compared to my San Fran locale & service is poor. read more

Biggest Anthropologie I've been to in the area. I'm used to the one in Georgetown, which is a packed sardine can. This location is a wonderful alternative and much, much easier to get to. I was able to park right outside the store on a Friday around 5:30. The store has a large selection of home goods like aprons, mugs, servewear, etc., that I actually like better than then clothing. The staff is extremely helpful as well. Top-notch location. read more

It's (obviously) not a mom-and-pop or locally-owned business, but it's a nice addition to the area. Like many of the other chain-retail stores on/around King Street (Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, etc.) this Anthropologie is much smaller than other locations, but a lot larger than it appears to be from the outside. They have a nice selection and staff is pretty helpful. read more

I have shopped at almost every Anthropologie location in the DMV and have been a customer since the early 2000's. The store in Old Town leaves a lot to desired due to very poor customer service. My mom and I shopped there today for my birthday discount as an Anthro perks member. One associate in particular, the one who rang us up had a very unfriendly and unwelcoming disposition. She attempted to tell me that Anthro had my birthday in July, when I informed her I already had my birthday perk email for June in my phone and my birthday was yesterday. She was like a sour lemon. Also other associates repeatedly asked if I wanted to try on the two items I selected for purchase while I was still browsing. I almost felt as we were being profiled as potential thieves or something. Get it together Old Town, the DMV is very diverse. Ladies of all races and ethnicities with income to spend, appreciate the modern, cute and quirky aesthetic of Anthro. Every customer should feel welcomed to shop and provided with great customer service which includes a pleasant demeanor. Do better and be best! read more

I love Anthro, but this store is not worth your time if you have other options. While it is nicely decorated and embodies the Anthropologie aesthetic, it isn't one of the better stores in the area. It's small and the selection is not nearly as good as the Tysons or Georgetown locations. They also have issues with keeping a range of sizes in stock, which other Anthro stores seem to be able to do just fine. Overall, I'd avoid this location in favor of another area Anthro. read more
