My mom bought me a few pairs of leggings that weren't my style so I went to this store to try a few others. I was a bit overwhelmed by all the options -- Honey helped me by asking a bit more about how I planned to wear them, pointing out a few options. I spent amount of time in the store and had multiple follow up questions about warmth, colors and length and Honey answered them all with complete patience. The style I wanted wasn't in stock so she had them sent to my house, free of charge. Great experience -- now I just wish Georgetown parking wasnt such a hassle :) read more

If zero stars was a possible rating I'd pick it. The manager was obnoxious, condescending, and rude and the Georgetown location staff generally gives the impression of not knowing what it's doing. It really sucks to spend a lot of money on merchandise and then hear the store manager complain at me for buying it (I bought it online and wanted to pick it up at the store so I could try some things on in person-- I am under the impression this is the reason the "pickup in store" option exists. Instead of being polite I got a rant about how out of line I was to pick it up in the store. Awesome). I can't agree more with the reviews that highlight the crummy attitudes of the staff here. I really liked your stuff, Athleta, but your customer service and communication is terrible, and I'm taking my money elsewhere from now on. I didn't want to bother going through an exchange for a tank top that I ordered as a tall instead of a regular via mail so I thought I'd stop by the Georgetown store since I was in DC today. Perry was really helpful and worked her magic to help me after letting me know that they don't carry the color of my item for exchange. She was super patient and was able to make the exchange on my behalf despite some technical difficulties with some the ipods not working. In the mean time I did some perusing and tried some other gear on. Usually I try to avoid the fitting room because it can be a frenzy but it was fun here. They wrote my name outside my dressing room which I thought was cute. I guess it's the little things that can actually make shopping enjoyable. Just fyi, when you order from the store, they will ship directly to your residence since they don't do in store pick ups. Overall, it's a neat, tidy, and clean store. Prices are also a bit better than lululemon (a couple of stores away) and it's also solely for women's clothing. read more

I am regular client and I love the clothing there but I Was there yesterday shopping some stuff -august 20th between 5pm-6pm- afore was not busy at all and the cashier 1275756 was completely Mean, paying more attention to his phone and I experience a very poor and terrible customer service. He could not bother himself to even look at me and say hi, didn't ask me if everything was ok with my shopping, during the checking out I was interested in some masks located in the check out area but after seeing his terrible attitude I just wanted to pay for what I really needed and leave. He seemed like he didn't want to be there but guess what? There are other people who would love being there and Doing their job! Very disappointing. Normally I shop in Tyson's corner, this time I was in George Town and wanted to give it a try.... but, never again. read more

Well, to be honest...Athleta is out of comfort zone for my shopping budget. It was my first time stepping foot into a store. Tees are in the range of $50s...long-sleeved tops and zip ups are about $70-90s, etc. I did fall madly in love with their stylishly unique items. The materials are top notch and buttery soft. It's impossible to resist unless you have iron will power! Their merchandise is on the same level as Lululemon but maybe $10 or so cheaper. I prefer Athleta's style better. Although they're supposed to be workout clothes, you can easily wear them as lounge wear for a casual look. To me, they're too nice to sweat in...haha. Just know there's a sales section in the fitting room area. The staff was courteous and very helpful. One of the item I purchase was on sale and had a slight mark on it, and the cashier offered to help get it out with a baby wipe. Great staff at this location. read more

What a nice store. Always great employees and they have a good selection. I like how they have one size for each item so I always have the correct size to try on. Very happy to have this store in the area. I've received their catalog for the past couple years but always refrained from ordering because I like to try things on. I'm not a size 0, slim fit girl so not just everything will fit. It was fun to be able to try many of the items I've drooled over in the catalog. The store was very well stocked with options and sizes which was a welcomed change from many of the DC stores where all you find are 0 and 2. The people working were very nice and while there was often a line for the dressing room it seemed to go quickly. The pieces themselves are pretty pricey but very high quality. I ended up buying a Smart Wool shirt which was close to $100 but it's striped and awesome! Tip for the fellas out there....there were NO men in this store sans one poor guy carrying his wife's purse. They say you learn something new every day. This is true. I learned that Athleta has an amazing policy that allows you to return or exchange an item that you are not satisfied with even after testing it out. I'm not one to ever abuse a policy like this, but similarly to Nordys, I tend to buy more $$$ items at an establishment such as this for the risk-free factor. I've ordered quite a few items from the Athleta catalog, but never bothered to return a few items that I just didn't *love*. I've always considered myself a "small" for most sizes, and would never, ever, ever consider even trying on an XXS.... but for some of the sweater dresses, the super small size fits the best. And I would have never known that unless I could walk in and try on multiple sizes. Which is what I did last week and did find that some items are perfectly fine in a Small, while others need some significant sizing down. I brought back two dresses that I failed to return last season because they were roomier than I'd like, but was afraid that ordering an XS or XXS would affect the shoulders and other areas I thought I needed more room with. I was able to exchange them for two other items that fit much better. While the process was a little laborious, it was worth the effort and I can't tell you how satisfied I am to know that this customer service exists. I love that I don't have to pay S&H charges to return things anymore - that was always my biggest hesitation to place an order in the first place knowing that I didn't *love* those dresses!! So happy. I love their lifestyle clothes the best.... cute corduroy skirts, leggings, knee socks, and those sweater dresses - they are just perfect for so many occasions... or non occasions!! Okay so I love this store and for a few years now I have ordered online. I was happy to hear that Georgetown had a location and wanted to stop in to check it out on my lunchhour. I thought the staff was watching me like a hawk. Now, I have nice clothes on and was checking the clothes out like a normal shopper. I was asked multiple times if I needed help and I had kept saying no. I didn't make a purchase since I just wanted to check it out. Athleta is a Gap-owned athletic wear shop. It's more stylish than Lucy and has more options than Lululemon. Most of the sportswear is for yoga and running, but that's all I do, so bully for me. Oh, and ski wear, but I hate anything to do with snow, so I can't comment on that. And really cute swim stuff in season. I love the Athleta catalog and have ordered from them for years. Shipping from the catalog is free, but returns are $7, so that starts to add up, especially since their sizing is kind of inconsistent. Four stars because parking is a hassle (obviously, it's Georgetown!) and the clothes are a little on the pricey side. It just opened today so there didn't appear to be a sale rack, but hopefully, they'll have one soon! read more

I love this store. like another reviewer said, their no hassle return policy makes me more apt to buy clothes here knowing that if theres an issue with an item for some reason i can return it for something else, even if its been worn. this is great knowing you pay so much for these items, if they are defective, or just dont perform as promised its easy to get something else (which is very different from a similar store down the block *cough*lulu*cough* - aka return nightmare). I got a couple items here in my last visit. the sales people were super nice and very helpful, the fitting rooms were roomy as well. they offer free hemming for your pants - which is awesome. and their clothes are simple classic and very tasteful. I am thinking i will be spending many a paycheck here in the future. bravo Athleta for bringing customer service back. you have gained a loyal customer :) read more

I probably wouldn't have ever thought to shop at Georgetown Athleta, but I stopped in to use a gift certificate, and I'm sure glad I did. I stopped by on a weekday afternoon was was impressed with the cleanliness of the shop. Everything was neatly folded or hung. The staff greeted me as I arrived and offered to help me. One of the associated walked me through their current apparel selections made specifically for running and made appropriate sizing suggestions. She opened a room for me and came back frequently to see if I needed assistance. The clothing seems very well made, soft, and comfortable. I was impressed by the selection from shorts to pants to tops as well as accessories, clothing for hiking, and some athlesiure type outfits. The colors of their clothing were rich and bright, some pieces had very interesting patterns without being tacky. Just a tip, most of what they have runs a little larger than usual, so I would recommend a size down. In the end, I walked out very satisfied with just my 1 purchase. I definitely would have walked away with the store, but the clothing is very expensive. I'll be back. read more

The sales staff are super friendly and approachable. Last winter, it was a really cold week and I was disappointed that the Polartec leggings were out of stock in the Georgetown store. (Those leggings have been one of my favorite winter gear investments!) The manager called an old colleague in Texas, honored my discount, and placed my order with free shipping! I've been a fan ever since. I continue shopping online, but enjoy the Georgetown store for the various free workouts or shopping events. It's always a good idea to see the inventory in-person, so that I can later track down items on sale. My favorite items are the leggings, capris, Athleta swimsuits, and post-workout dresses. read more

The people who work at the Washington, DC store are AWESOME. Each time I visit this store the service is great, but when I went tonight the service was extra special. Two people stand out from my visit: Craig and Anna. There was a third person working that night; I didn't interact with her, but based on the service I got from Craig and Anna I bet that woman is also a superstar. I came in about 25 minutes to closing time looking for two particular items: an autumn/transitional to-from yoga jacket and running leggings. I was immediately greeted by Anna and Craig, and Craig asked me what I was looking for and made some size suggestions (one kind of leggings runs small). When I went to try on the knickers I chatted with Anna about Athleta's running leggings/knickers line and Anna mentioned when the next collection would come out (I was impressed that she knew - at some stores the sales associates only know what's on the floor that day and that's it). I ended up getting the same pair of running knickers that she was wearing. After I paid for the jacket and the knickers, I asked about a particular dress that I saw in the catalog which was sold out in my size both online and in store. When I asked this it was 9pm/closing time and I only mentioned the dress casually, but Craig mentioned that he could check other stores' inventories and call them to see if they had it. He found one store with the dress in a size small and another with a size medium (this was after calling a couple of different places!). I'm not sure of my size so I got both and will return the extra (because Athleta's return policy is wonderful). As for the product itself, the prices may be high, but the quality is just as good, if not better, than another similarly themed yoga/running/athletic lifestyle brand down M Street AND you don't have to deal with That Other Brand's strange predilection for Ayn Rand objectivism and Landmark Forum indoctrination. read more

Not hospitable at all. Walked in and they said nothing, not even a good morning. Someone walked in right behind me and they gave them a friendly greeting. I brushed that off thinking maybe they're busy but the store just opened so NO. Walked the entire store and they spoke to other patrons but never once did they acknowledge that I was there. They even had the nerve to watch me and stare. I will not be shopping there. The Reston store was great which is where I will be going. read more

This is the store that got me HOOKED on Athleta! I've been a GAP/Banana shopper for years and yes, I visit their websites, so I knew about Athleta. Being that I workout 6-7 days/week, I love me some workout clothing. I also tend to wear workout clothing after work and on the weekends as well. But before Athleta, I've been a Target/Old Navy workout gear person. In other words, I wrote it on the cheap. After all, I'm just going to sweat in it, right? We went into this location on a winter day while roaming around Georgetown. I didn't plan on buying anything because, to be honest, the clothing on their website did not impress me, nor did I feel like paying $80 for a pair of yoga pants. It just so happened that they were having a sale when we came in! So I tried a few things on, including a jacket, a headband and a pair of yoga pants. I walked out with ALL of it. High quality, flattering stuff I tell 'ya! The customer service was excellent - everyone was so friendly! Plus, you can't beat their return policy. I'll always pay more for something when a store GUARANTEES their stuff, whether or not you take the tags off and wash it. (For this reason alone, I do not shop at that "L" store down the road). This store made me a fan for life. And now I spend far too much money on their stuff! :) The only thing I didnt like, is that when I came back here in the summer, they had nothing on sale (despite having a sale section on the website). An associate told me that they do not carry sale items in the stores, except during select times of the year. This is a bummer and knocks off a star. I love shopping Athleta online, and I was very excited about the new store in Tucson at La Encantada mall. I went to the store recently and I was appalled at the customer service and the lack there of! 4 employees in the store and none of them said hello to anyone! They acted like customers were an inconvenience! Not one offer to help anyone. Several customers walked out in disgust, I left as well! This store needs to train its employees or fire them, and FAST! Several of my friends have had similar experiences. read more

I was standing at the register waiting to ask one of the two employees whether they carry menswear. The two were having a protracted conversation about store matters (schedule, etc). Clearly they knew I was there; there were no other customers in line and they continued to talk, making eye contact with me but never acknowledging me. I finally interrupted and said "excuse me do you have menswear?" - one of the two said employee's looked visibly annoyed; the other politely said "no" and suggested Lululemon. Here's a suggestion: put customers first. If one is standing waiting to address you, try to do your job and help them rather than acting like a celebrity because you fold overpriced workout gear. read more

This was the first time as I had shopped in an Athleta store, having done most of my shopping online thanks to free shipping if you spend more than $50 and free returns. However, based on my wonderful shopping experience at the Georgetown Athleta store, I'll definitely be back! While wandering around the store, my friend and I were asked if we needed any assistance, which was great, but unlike other stores where people constantly come by and ask you again and again if you want help and all you want to do is be able to shop, Athleta struck the perfect balance. They asked if we wanted help and then when we did need help, they were easily available. The best part of our shopping experience was being assisted by Shara in the fitting room. She was incredibly friendly and willing to help get us different sizes or even came back with a couple of suggested options of different shirts that would work well with the sports bra my friend had picked out with a fun back, which wasn't visible with the shirt she had originally picked out to try it on with. She brought us a few different sizes, offered helpful comments and tips and the best part was, she was there when we needed her and checked back a few times, but it wasn't overbearing and she didn't hover. My friend and I could still consult on our outfits in front of the fabulous huge mirror in the fitting room and didn't feel as though any of the staff was being pushy or checking in too many times. When I went to check out, all of a sudden a line started to spring up behind me, as I was second in line. However, Athleta quickly had 2 other associates come over to check people out (one of which was Shara who had previously been helping us in the fitting room). I was very impressed because a lot of stores either just have a huge line or when the staff finally does realize they should come over and help ring people out, people have been waiting way too long at that point and start to get annoyed. Athleta didn't have one of the items I wanted in the size I needed in stock in the store. While they offered to look whether it was in stock at a nearby Athleta location, I wouldn't have been able to get to any of the other locations in the next week, so I opted to order the item online and have it shipped to me. They brought me over to a little computer kiosk where they quickly located the item on the Athleta website and I was able to place my order right there and have it shipped to me. For future reference, the associates told me I could always have an item transferred from another store to the Georgetown store and pick it up. Good to know for the future because I will definitely be back to this Athleta store again soon! read more

As a long time lululemon devotee, I thought I would break free from the uniform and try Athleta out. Compared to lululemon, the staff are certainly not 'educators' but that is the company's fault, not theirs. The girls working here were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The return policy is unbeatable (especially compared to lululemon's 2 week cap). The clothes are comparable, but I would say they probably cost the same if not more for a slightly inferior product. Nevertheless, check out the Georgetown shop for superior service if you are so inclined. read more

I as well am a long time Athleta lover, unfortunately I am very disappointed in this store. Customer service was horrible!! Let's just say I was the only one in the store that day, and all they did was standing around knowing that I circled the store 3 times to look for this particular item that was sold out online. After my attempts of looking for the shirt that I wanted I didn't see any, I go to the counter and asked of they had the sidetrack, the lady responds to hm no we don't, then proceeds with whatever she was doing. No thanks to the store, I will keep my shopping online, or bring a closer store to Tyson's, so I don't waste my time going to Georgetown. read more
