He took really good care of us, made sure we had everything we needed and really went out of his way to make sure we are satisfied. One star this time. We called over there to see about reservations for 14. We had several family members in town for a baptism and wanted to treat to dinner after. We had done something similar 5 years ago without issue. My wife called and was told they couldn't seat us upstairs but they did have an area downstairs they used for large groups. They said their catering director would call us back and make arrangements. Well we didn't receive a call so my wife called back. The "manager" barked at my wife saying it was happy hour during that time and we would be seated based on availability and not together. Um, what? So two tables of 7...no, try multiple tables spread out. And downstairs was no longer an option for unstated reasons. We live in the harbor and have frequented Anthonys in the past especially for the water view when friends and family are in town. We have never had an issue in the past, so I don't know management has changed or what. Definitely could have been handled better. read more

I have been there several times for lunch, dinner and Happy Hour. Last night went for dinner and had the 3 course dinner. Our server was very nice and did a good job. The Cesar salad was very good - fresh and perfectly dressed The desert was also good, bailey chocolate mousse. The main course however was disappointing, it was the salmon w/shrimp and basmati rice and broccoli. The salmon was dry though the flavor was ok, the shrimp was bland and very minimal amount and the broccoli was overcooked. The rice tasted as if it had been sitting for some time. Also, they used to have 1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesdays and now they discontinued that which is really too bad as we were going to get a bottle so they lost that sale, as only got two glasses. I usually like (not love) Anthony's but now I will probably consider other dining options in the Harbor. read more

Went here just for dinner, made a reservation! We got seated down stairs which was totally fine. There is about 6 tables down there and our waitress Melissa was serving two of them. I'm not sure if she was going through something that day but she was absolutely terrible. She maybe came to the table 2 times to take our drinks and food order. She never brought us bread, never asked if we wanted a a refill on our drinks. I called her over one time and she completely ignored me. At one point she just stood at one of the screens for a solid 5 mins. Again I'm sure she was having a rough day or something, but maybe you shouldn't come to work. I was so excited to finally go and eat at Anthony's since so many people in town have recommended it. I'm sad to say that I was disappointed with the experience. Upon arriving we received a delayed and very mediocre, cold welcome from the front of house staff (there were no other patrons waiting to be seated). While we sat waiting to be seated, a new employee (she was starting in the coming days from what we could gather from the conversation happening in front of us) and what seemed to be 2 other known local families came in, all were greeted very warmly and jovially. We were finally seated at our table. The best part of our experience was our waiter. He was friendly, patient and answered our questions with detail. We ordered oysters Rockefeller and the calamari with lemon aoli for our appetizer. The oysters were fresh and were deliciously cooked. The calamari on the other hand was oily, lacked flavor and the lemon aoli was also very bland and seemed a little watery. The bread that we received was hard and not warmed the whole way through. We ordered cider and a pomegranate drop for our drinks. The pomegranate drop was way too sweet. For our main meals, we ordered the crab fettuccine and the steak and tempura shrimp. For the price point, the fettuccine lacked crab meat and was very bland in taste (I had to add Parmesan to give it some taste). My dish also arrived with a generous sprinkling of chopped raw tomato that I had to spend allot of time picking off because I cannot stand raw tomatoes and there was no indication that that would be the garnish or I would have asked for the garnish to be omitted. Also for the price point, my husbands steak while delicious was very small and my husband was given 3 small shrimp tempura's. The baked potato was over cooked which had made it dry. My husband decided to move on to desert, I had decided by that point that I didn't want any because I didn't want to pay any more for 'just ok' food. Unfortunately, the cheesecake that my husband had, tasted extremely bland. It actually tasted more like cream cheese than actual cheesecake. It lacked that tart taste that you expect from cheesecake and tasted like it had no sugar in it. Our bill totaled $130 we tipped our waiter $20, which we were happy to do because he was so nice throughout the entire meal, but the $130 total on bill was hard to swallow given the quality of our meals. And we went to Anthony's with the expectation that our bill would be fairly high, which we have no issue paying if the food met the price tag standard. I wish that I hadn't been so disappointed with this experience. We are locals to GH now and will be calling this town home for many years to come. We may try to visit Anthony's again sometime down the road to give it another shot, but it won't be anytime soon. read more

The best crab cake on the planet! I've had crab cakes in multiple cities on both the East and West coast and these were by far the best! I also enjoyed the seasonal salad and desert. The cheesecake was incredibly creamy and melted on the tongue to give you entire mouth a treat before you swallowed. Anthony's provides a wonderful view as you're dining which adds to the experience. My wife and I had our wedding reception here years ago. Since then, apparently, Anthony's has declined. We came for our anniversary and checked in for our reservation. Twenty minutes later we were seated and ignored for another 15-20 minutes. Service was slow in this half empty place. When our food did arrive, it was lukewarm and overcooked. My scallops were swimming in a sea of oil. My wife's steak had so much salt on it that it was unpalatable. She felt bad doing so, but we ended up sending it back. When we were finally able to flag down the waiter, she sent the manager over, who used the moment to make passive aggressive comments at us. The worst thing about a situation like this is that, had I said something to him about what he was doing, I feel like I would have been painted as rude or difficult. What I hope is that Anthony's is going through some transitions and senior management can do some quality control and retraining. read more

Came here with my friend as a late birthday dinner. We were seated at a booth by large windows offering a great view of the water. Our host was friendly and nice asking us about our day and making sure to watch our steps as we descended several small flights of stairs before reaching our table. Doing a quick look around the restaurant looked very busy, it looked like there were only a few tables that were empty. We ordered the seafood artichoke dip and calamari both were really good. For entrees I got off the fresh sheet the Northwest Duet and my friend got the Crab Cakes. This is probably some of the best seafood I've ever had in any restaurant and I am someone who only orders seafood things anywhere I go. We were checked up on, and finished plates were cleared away/packed up for us by our wait staff which was really nice. If I were to find something to complain about, my lemon drop (which was really good) some of the sugar ended up on the side of my glass upon arrival and when I first picked it up, I touched sugar on the side. Not a big deal I just took my napkin and wiped it off. And when I asked my server what side came with the Northwest Duet she said it was broccoli and rice pilaf but when it came out I got mashed potatoes instead of rice. I'm unsure if this is an error by our server or maybe a plating error by the kitchen. I didn't make a point of bringing it up because I still enjoyed the mashed potatoes so I found it unnecessary to bring it up. For desserts I got a strawberry shortcake and my friend ordered the chocolate lava cake. It took 10 minutes for it to come out but that was fine because our server let us know that the lava cake takes a longer time to prepare. Both were absolutely amazing. Despite being full after a salad, two appetizers and my entree I still finished my dessert as well as my friends. At the end of it all it was a $160 tab for the two of us. I'll definitely be back to try some other seafood. I've only been to two other Anthony's, one in Seattle and one in Bremerton and I felt like this was here in Gig Harbor really knocked it out of the park especially with the crab cakes. read more

This was the most embarrassing experience I've had at a restaurant. Can't speak for the quality of the food because we were cut off and essentially thrown out. NO ONE IN OUR PARTY HAD A DROP TO DRINK. We are a large group of siblings on a family reunion hoping to cap off a fun day on the local sightseeing boat with a nice dinner at this nearby restaurant. Wow were we treated poorly. Accused of bringing in outside beverages. Are you kidding?! One of our group had a 1/2 full plastic water bottle from our boat trip! Yelled at for trying to move tables together ourselves. And then the bartender telling us he didn't have glassware to serve a group of our size (10). Really!!?? Rude! And when told so, he turned to yell "rude? You want to see rude? I'll give you rude" Finally, the manager showed up and was taking the side of his staff to which we said, fine. They didn't need our business if this is how they treat their customers. We willingly left. The other customers were asking what was up because they couldn't believe a group like ours was leaving. Don't need to reward this behavior - it would have been way too uncomfortable to stay. Who wants to worry about staff spitting in your soup after an episode like this! The night was just a disappointment. My husband and I came here for dinner and I called ahead to get a reservation. We arrived and checked in at the front desk. The guy host gave us a smug look and said it would be a few minutes. About 20 minutes later, we checked back in with the host. The male host walked away mid sentence when the female hostess was talking to him. Very rude I must say. The wait staff were all rude, including the passive aggressive manager. The food was prepared very sloppily. My plate was just pathetic. My steak, (which I ordered medium rare) came out as well done. They put salted butter on top of the over-salted filet. Green beans was raw and drowned in salt. The lobster was cold and tough. The only thing that was not messed up was the potato. We told the waitress, and she was passive aggressive about our opinion of the food. She got the manager and he also made some snide comment including "if the food portion were big enough". This chain has gone down hill for years now. I have given up on this location and the Tacoma one. read more

We just moved to Gig Harbor from California and one of the things I was most excited about is all the fresh fish that is plentiful in this part of the country. Anthony's has always been a staple in our "what's for dinner" options when we come to Washington so when we finally moved here, we were happy to see Anthony's was just right down the road from us. We've dined here a few times since living here and I'm not impressed with this location's service or food preparation. Each time we've dined here we have the complaint that the food is drastically under seasoned and bland. I don't love adding salt and pepper to my dishes. The other disappointing thing was the fact that they are advertising that they offer breakfast and yet we've headed there twice and it's been closed for breakfast. Kind of a bummer when you've loaded up the family only to find it's not available. Either way, we've been happy with the other Anthony's locations but the GH one Doesn't seem to be run the same. read more

Our short trip to Gig Harbor kicked off with dinner at Anthony's. One whole wall of the restaurant is windows over the harbor, so a great view was had by all. On a clear day, Mt. Ranier is visible off in the distance which is probably very cool to see. This is a good seafood restaurant. I opted for the steak due to some menu and pallet limitations, but the seafood is what Anthony's does well. The rest of my party loved their dinners, and I admit it all looked really good. The steak was nice, but I probably wouldn't go that route again. I liked how bright and friendly the restaurant was with all the natural sunlight coming in. We had friendly service and good company. So I want to give it 4 stars just for the view and the service. The food gets 3 stars which together in my book=3 1/2 Stars. Since I can't give a half star I'll round down simply because of the price point for the seafood here. Stopped by with the folks while driving around Gig Harbor after our hike a Point Defiance Park. It was a beautiful here so lots of sun shining through from every angle in place. There truly isn't a bad seat in the house. The bar area is under construction at the moment so just be aware some of the space is blocked off. We were greeted by the friendly hostess and promptly seated. The food I feel like I may have expected more due to the fact that this is a fishing community. I mean how hard is it to get fresh fish in the pacific northwest? The calamari was tasty but nothing spectacular. The crab, shrimp, and spinach dip seemed a little soupy in my opinion but I know to ask that more crab be added is a big ask for any restaurant. They get cool points for having a gluten-free menu that my mom could eat off of, although she did say the steak was really dry. The fish and chips were nothing to write home about either. I tried the Cioppino which was the best part of the meal but a little sad that some of the ingredients were a tad overcooked. All in all an ok place to stop for a bite. I'm sure if I'm in Gig Harbor again I'll stop for the view alone but at least this time I'll know what to expect. read more

I had some trouble deciding how I would rate this restaurant. I've wanted to go there for a very long time. But I was seriously disappointed. The bad: The service was terrible. We decided to eat in the bar and the manager came around to ask us how things were more than our server did. And unfortunately, my hubby prefers to 'play nice' rather than tell the truth and beat me to the reply. After we were done eating, we shoved our plates to the edge of the table to let them know we were done and probably had to wait about 15 minutes to get our check. It was horribly loud, but my bad, I already had a slight headache. The loud music and the people trying to talk over the music made it 10 times worse. The mussels were disappointing. But to be fair, I've never had them before so I don't know what to compare them to. But I've always loved seafood and I imagined them to be comparable to clams, but instead they were mushy. I will have to try mussels again somewhere else to try and judge them fairly. The bread they serve with your food was lacking as well. It was really tough bread. And the french fries were frozen. REALLY??? With those prices I would expect fresh french fries. The good: The clams were DELISH. The view was very nice. All in all, if I hadn't had a gift card, I would have been extremely disappointed in the experience. read more

Personally I think this location is highly overrated. I've been here many times throughout the years and although I wish I could say that their consistency is average, it's really not. They're asking top dollar for average or below average consistency of food. And at times the service is really not consistent either. They've got some beautiful views of the harbor however and that is always a nice adage. But it just doesn't justify the cost of top notch food and service. It's not that I even have anything against Anthony's as a whole it's just that time and time again I have gone here and been consistently disappointed. I've stopped going here and it's been a few years I have to admit. So maybe it's time for a new review. But I'll tell you that my wallet is not happy when I go in for a gourmet dinner and the ambience and I walk away disappointed. So it does leave me a little hesitant to go in to pay for something I am not getting every time. read more

The staff, the food, the atmosphere - all absolutely fantastic. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting or looking for a great place to have lunch or dinner or even just drinks and a snack. Huckleberry season is my favorite. The huckleberry pie and cheesecake is a must. And the seafood is always super fresh and well prepared. I've never been let down here. Wow, Gig Harbor seems to have been hit by hard times. I remembered this place so fondly as a kid that I almost went to Puget Sound University and this last week, I went there to see if I'd want to live there (scouting Pacific northwest). Sadly, my memories were much richer than the current reality. Example: Anthony's was the only restaurant alive and open on the entire harbor front. No choice. It was Anthony's or nothing. The clam chowder, though extremely thick, did not appeal to me. It was a bit chewy and fishy. The scallops and rice pilaf were good, but not a lot on the plate for $21.95. I think they survive because they have a captive audience. If you want to eat with a view of the harbor, this is your only option that I could see. read more

The best thing about this place is the location and view... the food, not so good! It seems to be a local favorite because almost everyone I talked to told me to eat here. Not sure what the appeal is. The food is definitely quantity over quality. We started with the mussels which were pretty tasty. I had a hearts of romaine salad which was also pretty tasty! But, the entree. Ohhhh they killed that Salmon twice! It was cooked to death with that lovely appealing white goo coming out of it when it was served to me. It had NO seasoning at all and the mashed potatoes served with it were like paste. AND I was charged $25 for this. Not a fan. read more

My wife was stoked to see a gluten free menu, that's always a plus. Started with the "award winning" chowder...not! Not bad, but not an award winner. For the main I went for the blackened rockfish with a mango pineapple chutney, great concept but the outcome was a little overdone and small. They also offer a few crafts on draft. I went here for dinner. I had the crab cake appetizer and the swordfish. Both were pretty good. The crab cakes were not as good as I have had in Maryland, but were still pretty good. The swordfish was good as well. The only thing that really brings my rating down was the service. It was easy to find a seat, but almost impossible to nail down a waiter to serve us. When we did get someone to finally acknowledge that we were there, they seemed uninterested in taking our order or anything else. I hope that this was just an off day for them because the food was pretty good and the atmosphere wasn't too bad. read more

The chef's complete disregard for gluten-free safety measures in his own kitchen. ----- I ordered the Bun-Free Kobe Burger from the gluten-free menu, being very sensitive to gluten. 1. The burger came, with a wheat bun on it. I explained that I need a new burger made due to the cross-contamination issues. 2. It came back, without the bun. I couldn't tell if it was a freshly made plate or the same plate where the chef merely removed the bun and sent it back. I heard the waiter say to the food server to refire it. 3. The plate didn't have the coleslaw as stated on the gluten-free menu so I asked for it. 4. The coleslaw came on a separate plate, with three fried tortilla strips. A friend tasted the strip and it was wheat, not corn. So I asked the waiter for a fresh coleslaw plate without gluten. 5. A fresh plate of coleslaw was brought back. I became very ill soon after and had to drive home to deal with the cross-contamination issues. read more

For New Years Eve I made reservations for myself and my wife. We love this place. Our reservation was for 7:15pm but didn't get seated until 7:20. Minor but noticeable lateness. But here's where it gets a little odd..... We were sitting for 5 minutes with no greeting whatsoever from our server. Had to stop another server to ask. That really is unacceptable. Saving grace was the server showed up within 30 seconds of asking and was EXTREMELY apologetic and took care of us the rest of the night. Good job Allie. Food ordered was filet mignon for both (she the 6 oz well done, me the 8 oz medium). Garlic mashed potatoes with onion "strips" on top (even though we were told it was baked potato...another oddity), green beans (absolutely awesome!!!!!), and I.had a lobster tail with mine. Filet was great, sourdough bread was great......buy the lobster tail.was DINKY!! It'd been nice to get my moneys worth. Tasted fine....but way way wayyyyyyyy too small for the price. Had the blackberry cobbler for dessert. Awesome dessert.....simply awesome. My wife and I were seated down near the front bay window on the lowest level of the main room. It seemed particularly noisy. Not the restaurant's fault. Just was loud. I like the decor inside. Simple and dark. I like that. Some other yelper said it was horrible as if it was from a set in "Saved By The Bell"....odd and stupid reference. The place has an understated nautical theme inside. And the view of Gig Harbor at night is very nice and romantic. During the day in the summer I would.imagine is awwwwwwesome. One last side note.....kudos to the water boy who."stole" a lit candle from another table for our table. Very cool.....and funny. Back again last night to Anthony's in Gig Harbor, my husband and I had an exceptionally nice dinner. Our starters were Ceasar salad for him and mussels for me. My husband went for the 6 ounce Filet Mignon with baked potato and green bean/corn combination. His plate was cleaned. Since they had fresh Dungeness crab on the menu, that's what I had. The presentation of the steamed crab was excellent - cleaned enough for me to access plenty of sweet crabmeat. Our waiter did a great job - he was attentive enough without being around too much. We even had a chat with the manager who let us know when crab comes in. One complaint I had in the past was that they would make us wait in the reception area - even if we had a reservation. Last night, we were taken to our table immediately upon arriving. That's the whole idea of a reservation and I appreciate this improvement. read more
