This time, the office manager was there and we spoke. I'm sure you have all met people who are in customer service before who don't understand the words "customer" or "service". This woman's mission in life seemed to be to keep as much information to herself as possible. VERY unhelpful. I ended up having to repeat most of my questions twice in order to get her to understand. I am trying to get a sense of what they would charge for propane based on my total propane use for the three houses where I use it. Pretty soon I plan to make an appointment to meet with branch manager. With luck, he will be helpful. I hope never to have to deal with Nurse Ratched again. I currently have a half a dozen propane tanks scattered around three properties. One of them is buried and I am probably stuck with them for that. The woman in the office quoted a very high rate per gallon for propane. I started calling around. Dupuis had a very chill attitude. The price was the lowest I found in RI -- at least 40% lower than Buckley. They didn't require a contract. They showed up as promised, installed a new tank and left a bill. I spoke with Howie, who politely called to inquire how we wanted to handle refills. He even offered to help us research an issue we had with a stove. This is a nice company that wants to earn your respect and business, not scare you or lock you into long-term contracts.

I have never heated a house with propane…read morebefore so I had a lot of questions and Eastern Propane was the most welcoming on the phone taking a lot of time to answer questions that they probably get all the time. They went above and beyond to deal with a situation at our house that required the tanks to be moved and the insufficient copper runs (installed by the house flippers) to get completely replaced. They handled dealing with the town inspector and even dropped off a temporary tank to make sure we had no disruption to hot water while everything got figured out. I was very happy with how thorough they were to make sure everything was up to code and handled as "pretty" as two large tanks can be :) When I was shopping around I found that the prices at Eastern Propane were considerably cheaper than the previous chosen company the previous owner (flipper) had chosen. Despite two separate service calls sending Anthony Watts, this company's "expertise" cost my family over $1,300 in unnecessary expenses and weeks of hardship. The Failure of Due Diligence: During the first visit, the technician dismissed our concerns, claiming the unit was "fine" and that the cold was simply due to having an "old house." Keep in mind our heating system is TWO years old. I was charged $300 for this dismissive and incorrect assessment. When the issue persisted, my young children are freezing, and I called them back for a second look, the technician performed a combustion test and again insisted the system was functioning perfectly. Although the house never broke 57 degrees while the heat was on. The Reality: After two failed diagnostics by this firm, I hired a second company. They identified the issue within minutes: the main supply line for the first floor was completely disconnected. This is a textbook case of professional negligence. For a technician with "10+ years of experience" to miss a detached main trunk line while 80% of my heat was pumping directly into the attic is inexcusable. I have numerous photos for reference. Because of this oversight, my system ran continuously for two weeks trying to heat the outdoors. This resulted in: $1,000 in wasted propane burned in just 14 days. $300 in service fees paid to a company that failed to perform a basic visual inspection of the air delivery system. Safety concerns for my family, as we were left in a freezing home during peak winter. If you are looking for a company that performs thorough troubleshooting and respects your hard-earned money, look ELSEWHERE.
