The restaurant's decor is very nice! Cozy yet sophisticated, like a welcoming library. While the salmon burger was delish, the fries were lacking in crispiness and flavor. The shishito peppers were nice, as well. The big issue for us is this was a business lunch, and service was verrrrrrrry slow. Anson Eleven needs our attention and support, as the traffic downtown has come to a halt. With a difficult migrants situation many people were afraid to go downtown. I was there today and our downtown is safe. It is time to support our local businesses and Ansen Eleven offers a great lunch menu with diverse salads and affordable starters. Their mussels fries and dégustation pork belly tacos with Kimchi were excellent. Their salmon salad with a lemon Dijon vinaigrette was fantastic! The decor is modern high end Brasserie style. I went here for my birthday this year to celebrate my 26th birthday with a big group of friends because I wanted to dress up and then go to el Mirador after for drinks. Atmosphere: Anson 11 has a pretty decently paced, yet poised speed to it while hosting a variety of different people leaning closer to fancy than not. The decor is really extravagant with a hint of polished gentlemen as it's muse. I really enjoyed the way it looked but also couldn't help but feel a little squished in with how small the bottom floor is and the amount of tables inside. Food: $$$ The food I got was the black cod which sat on a bed of risotto and small salad. The ingredients were all really fresh and the fish was cooked to perfection. However, there was much lacking in terms of flavor. The fish itself was cooked great but lacked any real taste. The risotto underneath was squishy and just tasted more like a mush to sit the fish on rather than a legitimate compliment. Most of my table also agreed that the flavors from the food were lacking and we are pretty sure my girlfriend got food poisoning that night from the chicken. For that reason, it lost another star. Overall: I probably would have given this place benefit of the doubt and given 4 stars to it but My girlfriend getting food poisoning sent that down. Probably won't go for a while because of that so hopefully they will improve on their cooking. I've enjoyed their brunch in the past which is probably what we will get the next time we go. read more

Anson 11 was the perfect spot for dinner on my birthday last week. My boyfriend had made a reservation, and we were seated right away. We both ordered the lamb shank, which came with mushroom lamb jus, polenta, & arugula salad. The lamb itself was delicious, and it was so tender that it came right off the bone with a fork. We felt like it could have been slightly more seasoned, but the rich flavor of the meat made up for it. This was my first time trying polenta, and that along with the salad went super well with the lamb. We also ordered the shrimp mac & cheese, which I highly recommend trying. It was one of the best mac & cheese variations I've had! The jalapeño taste really stood out without being overpowering. Even though the lamb was amazing (my boyfriend's favorite), our dessert would have to be my personal favorite. We shared the A11 tiramisu, and it was incredible. The mascarpone cream was infused with coconut, and it was like a creamy cloud. I for sure couldn't come back without ordering this. A few other tips. The night we were there, the booths had already been reserved, so if you are a fan of booths I would request one when making a reservation beforehand. We dined in the early evening. Waite staff was friendly and helpful with favorite dishes when I ask. We started with the calamari. The batter was a little heavier than the standard batter at other restaurants however that did not take away from the fact that the dish was delicious with the aioli dipping sauce. Main dishes we ordered were the meatloaf and the steak fritter dish. Personally I would sub in mash potatoes or a green veggie instead of fries next time. The steak was tender and the sauce on top of delicious. We finished our dinner off with chocolate cake with berries and gelato. I wish I could eat this dessert everyday. It was delicious. We will definitely return for a repeat experience next time we are in El Paso. read more

I wish I would have found this place sooner. I am always down for a good brunch spot. Brunch was surprisingly affordable at Anson Eleven. For $18 you are able to choose a drink (coffee, flavored waters, or fresh squeezed orange juice) & a brunch entrée. Tack on an additional $6 to choose a drink from the "boozy beverages" section (refills included, yay!): mimosa, sangria, or Bloody Mary. I chose a hibiscus mimosa to start. It was delicious. I followed the hibiscus mimosa with a watermelon mimosa. I wasn't as big of a fan of the watermelon mimosa as I was the hibiscus. The watermelon mimosa was a tad bit bitter but the watermelon ball at the bottom of my champagne flute was enjoyable. The food tasted amazing. I ordered the Cochinita Pibil & Eggs Benedict, delicious. It was a tad on the sweeter side than traditional bennies but still savory, at the same time. My brunchmates tried the Roasted Chicken Crepes & Nutella French Toast. Both said their meals were delicious. They certainly looked so. Judging from how quiet our table was after the food was served, I think it's safe to say we all enjoyed our meals. Downtown El Paso doesn't seem to get as much attention as other areas of the city. In our case, this worked out well as we didn't venture down for brunch until after 11:30am but, we were still able to be seated right away. Located in the heart of downtown, the restaurant space looks really nice. Downstairs there's a bar with a fairly large dining area, but upstairs is the "fine dining" area with white table cloth and several rooms for private events. The downstairs had this really cool vibe with Top 40 music playing in the background and seemed like a perfect spot for happy hour or a date night. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. I easily found a seat at the bar and they brought over fresh bread after I ordered a drink. I got the rib eye and crab cake for dinner. The crab cake came with a side arugula salad and was really meaty and had little filler. The rib eye was pretty delicious also; it's a bit on the fatty side which you might love and definitely decadent. The menu says steak fries but they're actually string; I'm a fan of potatoes fried in any form so no complaints there. All the food that I saw brought out looked amazing so I'm sure that everything on the menu is a winner. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop in. read more

We love this place. They have a really good meatloaf, a steak and fries option, and really good soup and appetizers. We reserved a table at lunchtime for a large party which they were able to accommodate. Definitely on the more pricey side, but it's great for a date night, for brunch, or any other opportunities that you have when you're downtown. Service is great too. Alright. I get it now. I get why Judy B. visits this place for dinner the same way I visit Sam's Club for gas. Well...that analogy was probably a bit weak. But the point is...I can aptly validate this place is truly top notch. At least...at what they do. Let's discuss. So, we finally got around to checking out the fine dining side of the force and sampled the best of what they had to offer (or what spoke to our personal palates). In true "Menace" fashion, I shall break this down dish by dish. Jumbo Prawns: Holy shit! These are by FAR the most deliciously seasoned shrimp I have ever tasted! So far. This year. No, really though...these things were perfect! The sauce is almost indescribably orgasmic with a bit of a kick toward the end. I'm only sorry I got so overwhelmed by the enticing flavor of these shrimp, I forgot to take a picture. Solid 10 out of 10 here. Filet: Again, this one kinda shocked me. See, despite ordering medium, I assumed because filets are thicker than most cuts, it would come out mid-rare (as they somehow do in most El Paso restaurants for some reason) and I'd have to send it back or something. But no...the filet was cooked perfectly medium as requested. Also, it was seasoned to the heavens with a nob of savory melted butter on top. I was really worried this one would maybe come out under seasoned like the filet we ordered during our brunch visit. Evidently, everything was turned up to the nines tonight. Even the pureé was stellar. Another rock solid 10 out of 10. Trio of Lamb: Even though the wife ordered this one, I still sampled it. All I can say is...juicy, well seasoned and more tender than baby back ribs. The lamb wonton was weird though. 9 out of 10. Truffle Mac n' Cheese: I remember reading a review here where the customer claimed they're a "mac n' cheese connoisseur", yet they weren't that impressed with this one. As a man of culture myself, I can tell you that customer should get their taste buds checked. Because this side dish is pretty damn awesome. However, it's not perfect. It still could have used just a touch more salt. Other than that, the cheese blend was nothing short of exquisite. 9 out of 10. Overall, I gotta say the fine dining floor was mostly impressive. But I have 3 minor nitpicks. 1.) Service toward the beginning was rather slow. Though to their credit, I think the fine dining floor only had like, one main waiter. So, that point could be moot, depending on how you look at it. 2.) Both display plates at our table were dirty. But, once again to their credit, this issue was immediately corrected the minute it was raised to our waiter. The really impressive thing was how much contrition he expressed towards the situation. And it wasn't even his fault. 3.) This restaurant has possibly the dimmest lighting in all of El Paso. Maybe even America. It's romantic, yeah, but....let's just say if I were Carl Winslow in that one episode where he needed glasses, I'd have been squinting at the menu till both my temples exploded like Betty Crocker Fruit Gushers. Well anyway, I'm real glad we got a chance to give dinner a taste here. After months and months of wondering about all the hype, I totally get it. I was in El Paso for work and staying at the Paso del Norte. On our first night here, we drove past Anson Eleven and our coworker (an El Paso native) recommended it. My one coworker wanted to dine at the hotel on our first night. I was bummed since I wanted to try this place out (it's SO close to the hotel). So the next night, my coworker didn't want to eat until after 8p and since that's too late for me, I opted to head to dinner alone. I didn't even look anything else on Yelp- I knew Anson would be the place for me! I am actually really grateful that I was even able to dine here. Because as soon as I walked in (6:30p on a Wednesday night in May), the place was packed! I told the hostess that it would just be me. She said "I'm sorry but we're all booked up for the night. If you want, you can maybe wait for a place at the bar?" I was so sad! The bar was full and I couldn't believe that they were all booked up on a Wednesday. But I knew that meant this place had to be good. Luckily, I waited for 5 minutes and a big groups of guys left the bar. I was so happy to get a seat! This seemed like more of a cocktail place to me (and I was sitting at the bar), so I opted for a Mango Cantarito. I had no idea what it even was, but I knew I liked mangos, so I went for it. Honestly, this drink alone is why this is a 5 star rating for me. This was possibly the best cocktail I've ever had! My absolute favorite thing was the chili salt rim they use. It looked like it was just a bunch of pepper flakes on the edge, so I didn't even try it for the first half of the drink. But then I wanted to assess if it added anything to the flavor of the drink and it blew my mind!! I was seriously trying to suck every last drop out of that drink. In hindsight, I wish I had ordered a second one! I also got the ribeye for dinner. I wanted a steak but was disappointed they didn't have any other cuts of meat. I had looked on Yelp and I had seen lots of other steaks. But I went for the Ribeye since I was in the mood for beef. It ended up being fantastic! The best Ribeye I've ever had (although I don't really order ribeye ever, but this will be the bar going forward...). It was so flavorful and came with the perfect amount of steak sauce smothered on the plate. The fries were good too. They came out pretty hot, so I burned my mouth a few times attempting to eat them, but that's mostly my impatience. All told, I will definitely make it a priority to come here if I'm ever in El Paso for work. That Cantarito is calling my name! read more

Meatloaf was amazing. Chilean sea bass was good enough to jump off my seat and kiss the chef. Parpadelle was a little underwhelming although good. The Tieramisu you cannot miss! Order this at all cost. You will not be disappointed. Service was great. We asked to sit at a booth but the waitress said there was reservations. I frequent Anson 11 when I am in town & always had pleasant experiences with great atmosphere, service, music and drinks. Last night all the above was good with exception of the food which was horrendous for my party of 4. None of us even ate 1/4 of the food. Flatbread was cold & tasted like stell dough. Chicken Alfredo , chicken was hard dry & foul tasting while noodles & mushrooms were cold like several days old Brocilli was not cooked, potatoes were stale & old. Meatloaf was days old and fish was foul. It's been yrs since I ve had food this bad across the board and for $100 a person it was ridiculous. We went there for a holiday event, several of us from out of town and I just wasn't impressed at all. While one of my coworkers ordered the beef tenderloin and received a good slice on their plate, I on the other hand, had to scrap my plate of the paper thin shavings of beef tenderloin that I'm assuming was the very last of it. The wine pour became less and less than the first one. The bottle that was to come around to refresh the wine glasses never came. And I've never had the filler bread come out after the main course was just about completed. Some had just ordered dessert when they brought bread out. It was VERY, VERY disappointing. The service was decent if you want to be served by one waiter for a table of 18 and dinner ending 3 1/2 hours later.
