Quality seafood can be hard to find, but Ans Seafood is a great local option! I stopped in to check out what they had and was happy to find a great selection and friendly staff. They were super helpful with recommendations and cleaned up my whole fish while I waited. They even offered to put it on ice for my ride home. Probably the best seafood store experience I've ever had. Tucked in off the highway, blink and you'll miss ANS. They always look like they're closed because of how the store is laid out, with all of the displays further back; it's also a wholesale place so I doubt they give a shit. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable regardless. Came in needing some little necks for baked clams; had gotten precious at DeCicco's and while they were decent enough quality, they were also huge. Got 2 dozen here which were fresh, perfectly sized, and a good deal. Didn't have a clamming knife so picked one up too. Fresh seafood selection was great as were frozen options. It's been a bit since I was last here- and for good reason. Years ago, I mostly saw frozen packaged seafood and very little fresh. And even then, I was somewhat ok with the frozen Lobster Tails I'd gotten. But part me was also thrown off about buying frozen. Well- things have changed. Hubby stopped by right at the last minute before closing a couple of Saturdays ago and started a conversation with ANS' owner. He picked up 2 frozen Tuna Steaks, a couple of live Lobsters and a whopping 2+1/2lb bag of Steamers just because the owner was closing up shop. What's more, hubby only spent about $50 and change!!! The owner gave my hubby a quick rundown of ANS' seafood business, his Greek background and the rest- is history. ANS Seafood Inc., is slightly off 287 on Rt 9A in Elmsford. Different arrangement from last time I was here- except glass upright freezers with lots of frozen seafood (Tuna Burgers, Shrimp, etc)- are now on the right with glass caddy corner countertops with fresh seafood- straight up. And a room on the left with metal shelves and whatnot. I'm impressed (despite their layout) with their current seafood selection. And I will admit- both frozen Tuna Steaks and live Lobsters hubby had gotten a few weeks ago- were in fact very good! The place looks a bit out of place but I guess, looks aren't everything. Good selection with the basics and very good prices (compared to my fave Seafood Market in PC). So far...ANS seems to be working- close to home. read more

I Just ordered 5 lbs of steamer clams. They held them an additional day for me since I was coming from out of town. The staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. Great fresh seafood at reasonable prices I went in a few days ago to get some shrimp and fish for a pair of ceviches we were making for a party. Both the red snapper and shrimp were delicious and the service at the counter was great. On the downside there wasn't that much variety. Only one size of shrimp (I'd guess around 20s) and either six or seven fishes (Halibut, Swordfish, Salmon, Flounder, Scrod, Red Snapper, and maybe something else). Plus some soft shell blues and lobster. And a bunch of frozen stuff. So if you're looking for 20+ kinds of oysters or a dozen different whole fishes you'll have to look elsewhere. But for what it is ANS is great. read more

I don't remember how I found out about ANS, but I'm glad I did, and by now I've been shopping there for years---weekly, bi-weekly untl the pandemic, when, like many people, I moved toward "one-stop shopping." Recently I returned for the first time in a long time. What a pleasure! The place has not changed: the staff are friendly and helpful; the fish on display are enticing; watching the fish being cleaned and prepared ("two branzini, please--gutted, but with head and tail still on") is a nice little show for younger customers (like grandchildren); prices are excellent--and everything is FRESH FRESH FRESH. Staff also give good advice on cooking. I'm so glad to have stopped in again and now have ANS back on my (short) list of regular stops! read more

Top notch seafood right in our neighborhood! They have the lowest pricing on the best quality seafood- quality cannot even compare to big chain supermarkets and big box retailers. I've tried many other seafood retailers in Westchester and ANS always has the best, freshest selection. Staff is friendly and store is clean. Fair price for perhaps the freshest fish in Westchester! I have to agree with the previous reviewer who stated about being surprised regarding "Fresh" and "Elmsford." I believe I've been buying direct from them a few years ago when they started selling directly to the public (in addition to supplying restaurants), and I am not just a fan, I'm an addict. Everything is of very high quality. I've bought frozen octopus and shrimp; as well as fresh scungili, and trout. I will tell you this, once you've tried their scallops, you will NEVER buy scallops from anyone or anywhere else again. Always sweet and clean and taste like the sea, no grit, no bad taste, and I have YET to lay my tastebuds on a bad scallop from ANS. Truly my favorite item they sell. The place is scrupulously clean, the service is attentive, and Nick is perhaps the most neighborly person you will find in Elmsford. My husband and I are such fans, now he's been tagging along with me on "fish shopping day" (Saturday). I better click post now, so I can get on with thinking about how to get to ANS in the morning, back home to drop off my fish in the fridge, all before I go to work tomorrow! read more

They are family owned by a Greek gentlemen named Andy and his son, I think his name is Nick They sell fresh supply to a the major supermarkets and restaurants in Northern NJ Rockland , Westchester, Putnum and the Bronx. what makes them so great s the seafood is the freshest you can find anywhere and I mean anywhere. Try WHATEVER IS YOUR FAVORITE FISH! Simply incredible and the prices are lower than anywhere you cn find seafood in the tri state area. I'm a little reluctant to review ANS - it's a hidden gem I'd like to keep for myself! This place is amazing ... they're mainly wholesale so the fish is fresher than you'll find at any retail market and the prices are better. If you enjoy "meaty" fish like - Chilean Sea Bass, Tuna and Swordfish you will not be able to eat supermarket bought fish ever again after you go to ANS. There's literally no comparison. And while I'd probably put up with less than great service for a product this good ... the staff / service at ANS is fantastic. Nick (i think) the owner is a great guy who obviously knows his stuff and the rest of staff are all super nice and very helpful. First rate freshness! I went to ANS Seafood this past week for a special Valentine's dinner at home. I was greeted by Nick (the owner) who took fantastic care of me -- I just pulled into their parking lot and there he was opening the door as I approached. After speaking with him for a few moments about the kind of special dinner I was planning, Nick got some ideas and he was able to get me two really substantial lobsters, a few dozen Little Neck clams, and some absolutely awesome lump crabmeat for my special feast. Their prices were quite competetive and, as I said before, the quality of the seafood was really outstanding. I couldn't believe that lobsters that big could retain such sweetness. My girlfriend could not agree more and, because she's from New England originally, I know that she knows what she's talking about, regarding clams and lobsters. I know that they recently opened to the public and that a lot most of their stuff goes to provisioning some really excellent restaurants in Westchester and NY, so you know that they need to take their quality seriously. But, if you need really top-quality, super fresh seafood for your kitchen, they really should be on your short list. They are basicaly located in Elmsford right on 9-A -- north of Tarrytown Rd. and just south of I-287 -- Just past the Wendy's on the right if you're southbound on 9-A. I was looking for red prawns for my husband. I called all the fish markets in westchester. I spoke to the owner and he was the NICEST person to talk to me out of all the markets in westchester. When I showed up, he remembered me and told me how to cook the fish. I was very shocked by how reasonable the prices were. The place was VERY clean. It did not even smell like a fish market. There was plenty to chose from and if I wanted a special item they could order it for me on Sunday or Monday. They rock!!! I will return and buy fish from here. BTW the product I bought was extremely fresh and delicious tonight! I don't know why I passes this place so many times and never went in. As an avid fish consumer, I applaud ANS for its superbly fresh fish and friendly and responsive customer service. The swordfish I purchased yesterday had come in that morning. Delicious, moist and grilled to perfection at home. Starting with the best fish makes it worth it. Appetizers were dry scallops from ANS, seared and served in a chili, lemon grass butter sauce. Freezers with frozen food were blowing warm air and the products were thawed. Raw fish was also not properly stored (all the ice had melted). My fillet was spoiled and had to be thrown out. They don't fillet whole fish on the weekends. Low quality operation, would not trust anything I bought there because of quality control. read more
