They don't have a variety like they used to! Things are so expensive! Like the cherries don't taste that great

What a horrific experience, fruit and vegetables were very poor quality and very expensive, the fruit was the same, non-English speaking workers truly didn't know what they were doing and throwing the fruit aside and in small clear plastic containers for individual sale. Went to the deli, the attendant was dirty and had a mouth with rotten and missing teeth, disgusting ‼‼ Proceeded to the checkout and the attendant spoke to us in Spanish, she proceeded to stuff our entire purchase in one bag giving no regard to crushing anything we bought! My wife expressed give us another bag, she answered 5 cents more‼ How ridiculous, we will never go there again, this store was once the cleanest produce market and deli and fish market in our area‼ Although I truly don't know how the store became so disgraceful and filthy dirty. read more

It's not bad , have been going there for years if not decades great prices. The deli & seafood sections are great. Seafood section is an independent operation. The prices deli products are great, compared to Wegmans, same product, granted they do not carry as many variates as Wegmans does. All in all great place for fresh produce read more

I can only comment on the meat/seafood counter because I have only shopped at this section of the store. The shrimp selection is beyond amazing. The fact that they have an option to get the shrimp cleaned or not is just the icing on the cake. They do this quickly too. You are in and out. And the salmon is perfect also. Even before Hmart came to White Plains 3 years ago, Apple Farm has been THE only trailblazer carrying produce+super fresh seafood+deli dept in this market with some Asian items. Right in the same strip with Off 5th on one side and Bowlmor Lanes on the other off Route 100, this family continues to offer nice prices and great service after coming here on and off for 19 years. Another Apple Farm advantage is that it has 2 wide entrances with one by the produce and the other leading closer to the deli department. Fish department is towards back left with a decent selection. By the way- seafood needs to be paid at the fish dept and not at the front of the house. But here's the kicker though, their deli dept- not only has the typical Boar's Head products- but they have a nice selection of Italian cheeses, mixed olives, a very good tasting Eggplant Parmesan platter and a few other Italian side dishes. Apple Farm may not be a super big market, but these guys have enough to keep me coming back. read more

Not even 1 star. Check your receipt. Today was the second time I was charged for an item I didn't purchase. The cashiers rush through the process and don't allow for you to check your receipt before starting to check out the next person. Last time it was a few dollars so I assumed it was an innocent mistake, today was an $8 plus item I didn't buy and wasn't accidentally added to my bag. I don't think it was so innocent this time. Here I go again and again! If you must ask why I left Yelp and back again is because I seldom gone to places anymore so I had to find some excitement. Because of COVID-19, I had to do the shopping for the sake of my family, particularly for groceries. I went in to shop after my brother drove me there to get pears, tomatoes, scallions, onions, a cabbage, mangoes and bananas. Afterwards, I went to the cashier to pay for the groceries while bagging them in reusable bags and left. I really don't have much to say, but they got a fish and meat section as well as the flowers. This is my "Go to" fresh fruit and veggie spot. I love the tomatoes and peaches the most, they are so testy and juicy! The tomatoes taste like they did when I was young, not like the once's you buy in the supermarkets. The peaches are soooo SWEET AND GOOD! They sell fresh fruit pies as well, I love the peach and blueberry ones. The pies and apple cider donuts are a wonderful experience. The Farm is a bit pricey but isn't everything right now? I've been shopping here for decades...then it really was excellent, but it's sadly falling off my go to place. Only 1 maybe 2 out of 10 visits I'm not throwing away my purchase. Today 2 pints of blackberries...I am in the area and shop sometimes 4 times a week so it's not like the fruit is sitting around... I'm most often disappointed with my purchase. The apples are mealy...everything looks great on the outside, but more often than not moldy...not just these 2 pints...strawberries, grapes too. The deli needs a real gooooooood cleaning as well...the guys wear gloves and the turn over on the cold cuts is unbelievable. Everything is fresh and reasonably priced. The fish dept is outstanding. there is plenty of parking, no need to complain...walk a few feet. I'm only voicing my opinion in hopes some badly needed changes will be made. read more

I dig it. When the local supermarkets are selling eggs for $2-3 a dozen Apple Farms has JUMBO eggs at $1.59 per. Generally their prices are on fresh produce are very good, and they have plenty of stock. Fresh fish counter in the back that sells live crabs (in season), and whole fish (which they will clean and filet for you). Pretty good little deli counter. This place is a zoo, but their produce is pretty cheap. Some things are even cheaper than at my supermarket of choice, H Mart. However, there's a trade off: not everything is great quality. I bought some grapes here and even though they looked good, they tasted terrible. And, the green peppers which were an amazing 69 cents a pound were rotting inside. Most things were fine, but not all. Oh yeah, they also only take cash, something I didn't realize until I got to the register. Some clear sinage would be helpful. read more

Went in there end of August 21 To buy Produce/Deli Well the Cauliflower was all spotted, the broccoli crowns were pale green, [ old ] the apples were bruised, the pkg. corn looked dried. Ok, lets try Deli, only 1 person ahead of me, ok 1 man serving a customer, 1 man working on the side, so I'm waiting for the guy on the side to look up, and say the Magic words, 'can I help you. I rarely leave reviews that are not positive but this was hands down the worst customer service I've ever received. I waited online for 30 minutes one morning, weekday 8am not at all busy, for the deli counter. There were two people ahead of me and the person behind the counter who was serving was slow, no big deal. Then I start my order, first Proscuitto which he slices up for me, then the Sopressata and I ask him to slice it for me. "No we don't do that". I've never heard of a deli that doesn't slice it for you. We have pre-sliced he says and tosses me a plastic container which had obviously been sitting on top of of the counter for quite some time, and looked black and moldy. This type of salami must be refrigerated once it's been sliced as bacteria will start to build and you can get food poisoning. I ask for the manager and he points to the other guy behind the counter who looks at me and walks away. Needless to say I won't be back. If you want great customer service make the trip to Cosmo & Alex in Mamaroneck or any of your local Deciccos. read more

Poor cashier service. They treated me very badly. The machine broke down and the cashier passed my card twice. When I realized that I was deducted twice from my card. I returned to Apple Farm to get my money back. The cashier who is Latina like me didn't want to give me any solution. I told her to please give me a solution. She said that is not her problem. Also, she didn't want to tell the manager what happened. She wanted me to tell the manager what was the problem. The cashier speaks English very well, and I don't speak that much. I asked her to please tell the manager her mistake, to get my money back. And she with the cashier next to me started yelling that this was not their problem. Parking can be tedious, although if it's not really packed you can usually get a spot pretty close by, but the parking is tight. close, tight rows of parking. Some of their items are a great deal, better than you'll find anywhere else, and other things are expensive and you're better off getting at ShopRite. I got a really nice, meaty hunk of blue fish fillet at their fish market in the back for $6/lb which is the best price I've seen in the area. Their almonds and rainbow cookies are also random items which are normally really expensive and they have them for great prices ($4-$5 for a half pound tin of almonds and $5-$6 for a container of rainbow cookies that would normally run close to or more than $10) They have a great selection of fresh fish in the fish section (you pay for the fish here affter you order, it's sort of like it's own entity), and quality items in the deli. Grated pecorino romano cheese is another item they have for a bargain that can be expensive most other places. They also have a variety of breads, and vegetables, and some one-off pastas, seasonings and olive oils. They finally woke up and started accepting debit/credit cards in the front. Only downside is it can get really cramped, the aisles are tight and when it gets busy it's a game of shopping cart bumper cars. dropping my rating to 2 stars because of what I saw a few days ago. - Lady drops a container of strawberries onto the floor - She doesn't pick them up and walks away - Foot traffic continues around/very close to the strawberries - A worker comes by puts the strawberries back into the container, and places it back on the shelf (GROSS!) That's not OK in my book. I don't want to buy stuff that's been on the floor, especially my strawberries. I wash everything before I eat it anyway, but that's just not right. read more

I'm updating my review from yesterday because, like the father in Dirty Dancing, when I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong. I thought I had been scammed by the Seafood Dept. when I went in specifically for Wild Alaskan Salmon for $19.99/lb. (which I thought was the same or more than Whole Foods - although he corrected me on that too saying WF is $27.99 which I would never pay so I probably bought there on sale) Anyway, I thought i had paid $19I but gotten a regular piece of Farm-raised Norwegian salmon but turns out it was wild "King" salmon and not, we deduced the very orange and meatier wild "Sockeye" that I eat and am familiar with. This piece looked like regular farm-raised salmon to me. And tasted like it too. Since I was paying $19.99/lb. I brought it back today and questioned its validity at which point the fishmonger schooled me on the different types of wild salmon, which honestly I hadn't thought about since it turns out the only wild salmon I had ever had was sockeye. So i humbly took my piece of fish back and thought "never mind" and thanked him for the education. Now it makes me want to go to Alaska and try every different variety of salmon that I never knew existed and have the real deal fresh from the local waters. Ok, don't know if this review helps anyone because I don't know if anyone would make the same mistake but either way i needed to edit my previous thumbs down review and maybe there are other laypeople who also wouldn't be aware of the differences between the various varieties of wild salmon. The piece I did eat was excellent and now I'm very relieved to know it wasn't farm-raised. read more

This place is my favorite market to come to. Food is fresh, reasonably priced, and now they take Visa or MasterCard. I usually buy meats, cheese, fruits, vegetables, and bread here. They make their own sausage and dried sausage which are both amazing. I have ordered from the fish counter before, that area specifically is CASH only. Worth it but I find it annoying that the rest of the store takes credit and this area doesn't. I never go in with a cart, I always opt for a basket, the store is small so it doesn't make sense. I would say that I much prefer this experience then going to a full blown grocery store but this place doesn't have everything so the grocery store is a necessary evil eventually. read more

CAVEAT EMPTOR! The prices are good, if you are very careful with the produce. The other things are quite good, and at quite good prices. Especially the fish. The cold cuts are like everywhere else, and the prices on the Italian cheeses they stock in a limited variety are quite good usually. However, I've had the experience a few times now with greens and fruits going bad in 3 days. The things that turn over rapidly are usually fresher, so stick to lettuce, escarole, and basil, etc. and watch out for soft peppers and overripe grape tomatoes. read more

Boars head is considerably cheaper than Stop & Shop. This place is INSANITY, unless you get there within the first hour of opening or last hour before closing. If you MUST go during peak time, try to use a basket instead of shopping cart. Otherwise it's like bumper cars and will EASILY add another 10 minutes to your shopping time. I SWEAR a bus must come and drop off a LOAD of senior citizens several times a day. I also recommend parking FAR FAR away...like the LAST row. The parking lot is even MORE insane. I feel like every crappy car you can imagine is in this lot and they won't think TWICE about smacking the door of their wood paneled grocery getter into your shiny new car. Pick a spot where you can pull through too and don't have to back up, so you can avoid getting hit by GRANDMA, who can't see her own dashboard, let alone YOU. I'm only writing this review because there seem to be so many misconceptions being put forth by others which need to be corrected. This place is a GREAT alternative to the usual corporate chain grocery or even the farmer's markets which seem to be so hit or miss in this area. I love how people complain about the produce not being perfect. Hello! You get what you pay for. You will find every fruit here being sold between 99 cents and 2.99 per pound. Like everyplace else, the prices vary according to what is in season and what kind of deal they can get from their suppliers. All of the fruit here is the same stuff you get everywhere else. Check the stickers folks. Some of the fruit is perfect and some of it has been squeezed one too many times. The produce is also sold in big bins where you have to sort through 'Grandma' style to find the best items. Yes, you will see people squeezing the fruit and putting it back or even picking up stuff that fell on the floor and putting it back on the pile. Get over it! This happens everywhere, even Whole Foods. The aisles are far too small to use a cart. Only stupid people try to ram their way through using one. Most people bring a bag of their own and only buy as much as they can carry. Its that kind of place, small and old timey. If this offends you, go to one of the chains. The rest of us will be happier that you and your cart aren't in our way. Parking is like anyplace else in the world. Its in a strip mall. There are stupid people everywhere and parking here is no different than anyplace else. I don't understand the drama so many people have. Try using your mirrors and put your cell phone down and you will be fine. As others have noted you will find some bargains here - the fresh pasta and cheeses can be a steal if you know what you are looking for. Likewise the deli meats. I don't know the going cost of fresh fish but given its popularity Id say the pricing is good. Oh yeah, you will smell lots of different scents. Don't let it put you off. It doesn't mean you are getting rotten food. You might come across an item that is moldy or spoiling that they missed when doing inventory. Just put it aside or alert the staff if you feel its a health hazard. If you do think you got a tapeworm from eating something here I noticed they do have a return policy on the receipt so hang on to it. You won't find that at a farmers market! Use your common sense, look at what you are buying, smell it, feel it and if it don't seem right, put it back like everyone else does. No big whoop. Our Grandmas did this kind of thing 50 years ago and they survived. read more

These scammers in White Plains charge a 3% charge when you use you credit card!....and they don't tell you about the charge when you hand them your card. Its the only place around that I know of that does that. And the manager Peter is also very rude. I would suggest shopping elsewhere. read more

I shop at the Port Chester Apple Farm location. I just moved to the area from out of state and have been searching around for the best prices when it comes to my staples, which are fresh fruits and vegetables. I went to several places around town and was shocked by the high prices. I heard about Apple Farm and decided to stop in, the store is very quaint and is by no means a full grocery store but it serves it's purpose. What you will mostly find is fresh fruit and vegetables with a small selection of pasta, sauces other staples and fridge items. They have a great selection of fresh herbs and fresh tofu as well! Apple Farm is seriously 1/3 the price of all of the stores I have been to so far in the area. When I arrived I was one of 3 people in the store so there was plenty of room to get around and shop leisurely. If you are trying to save some $$$$ I highly recommend checking out Apple Farm. read more

I love love love this place. Everything is cheap and fresh. The produce here is significantly cheaper than buying at the local food stores. They also have a great selection of fish/deli meats/cheeses. The only thing that stinks is that they only take cash, but they do have an ATM in the store. Try and avoid on the weekends unless you can get there when they open. The place gets very busy and crowded. read more
