Most of the time it's pretty good (even though they forget to add the City Grits I choose online) but today again they forgot to add City Grits and the sauce in the grits tasted a little "off" this time around. We decided to try some breakfast here before starting the day hunting for basketball shoes. The wait wasn't bad, especially because we checked in on line (which I would suggest). Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu choices. As far as drinks, we decided on water and coffee, however next time I think I might bebinterested in a mimosa or bloody Mary. The food was great, served just to our liking. I would suggest getting a skillet with one of their crafted filled omelettes. The hubby and I were looking for a place to have a bite to eat while waiting for my car to get serviced - Another Broken Egg Cafe was down the street so we decided to try it out. I'm really glad we did. When you walk into the space - it really reminds me of someone's home with lots of rooms in it. My tummy said southwest scrambler with a side of city grits. Who am I to argue with such wisdom? It was very tasty, though I will say that the tortilla's it came with were a little gummy, but still sandwiched the eggs, chorizo, onions and all the other fixins very nicely. The grits though - bacony, cheesey, gooeyness; yes please. Lastly - the coffee was really good and served in these really cute cups that just say "home". Typically, my husband and I have had a good experience here, but our most recent one was very different. First off, we ordered beignets and were told they would come out before our main course. That didn't happen. We had to ask for them after our main course was delivered to the table. My husband had an omelet. Unfortunately, it was so over cooked that it was brown on the bottom. Furthermore, the seafood tasted very fishy and the sauce was cold. He couldn't even finish his food. My food was even worse since it arrived with a hair cooked into the egg. I sent it back and they prepared a new meal for me. The worst part of all this is that they offered no discount or compensation for our troubles. I have been wanting to try this restaurant and today was my opportunity. I had just had a pedicure next door and followed by breakfast. I am a party of one and the host did not check he just said he would be sitting me at the bar. I didn't happen to want to sit at the bar but they seem Not to have single tables. But no one came to ask about my meal or to warm up the coffee. So for that, they get 3-stars. I will say the young man who served my meal spent a great deal of time at the table behind me. This was our very first visit and we will be back. I always always check the restrooms of wear I will be dining and I will say this was the cleanest restroom I've seen in a restaurant. ( It was first thing in the morning hopefully it stays that way during high traffic times) I also would like to suggest no touch bathroom sink and soap dispenser to match the no touch paper towel dispenser you have... especially during covid. The pound cake French toast needed more strawberries but looked great once I received them. The taste was good, however I expected more of a firm French toast feel.. it was a little too sweet and crumbly for my taste but I'm sure you'll love it if that's your thing. I also ordered the cheese eggs and chicken sausage. It was really good. I ordered the bourbon pancakes to go as replacement for my French toast hopefully that is more my taste. My husband ordered the veggie omelet and loved it. He did modify it along with his potatoes and thoroughly enjoyed it. The mimosa were a bit pricey at 8.00 each but we still got 3 to try. The blueberry lemon is a bit sour so prepare yourself. The Strawberry is a bit sweet while the vanilla black berry was just right. Although mixing the first two we were happy with the combo. Our favorite breakfast/brunch spot! I wish they had a Cincinnati location. I love the variety of unique menu items. I'm also a fan of the boozy breakfast cocktails they offer. Yes it is a bit of a drive from Cincy. Yes you are going to have a wait once you get there. Yes it is worth it all. My favorite item to order is the cinnamon roll French toast. I usually get a side of the baked bacon or house made sausage. My husband tries different things but he loves the seafood omelette. I'm very disappointed. Today is my birthday, and we always come here with our dog. I put my name in for the waitlist, and said "I need patio seating because I have a dog." I went to check in, and was told they were no longer dog friendly. The hostess has the ability to text you and they had all of my other information, but did not reach out to me before I got there with my dog (I live 30 minutes away). I'm very disappointed in the level of customer service. I tried to call the restaurant to speak to a manager, and was put on hold for over 20 minutes before I hung up. Today my husband and I visited Another Broken Egg Cafe for the first time, after much anticipation based on reviews and advertising. This will be our last visit as well. We were greeted on arrival by a hostess who was busy training a new employee and we had to wait until she was ready to seat us. We were asked if we were ok with being seated on the patio, and not knowing what the patio was like, we agreed since indoor dining areas were full. We were taken to the back of the building into a space that resembles the inside of my Dad's very old garage, with brick walls, very high ceilings with fans that were not operating, and overhead garage door-style windows. It was stuffy, so we asked to have some air circulation. The hostess opened one of the windows right by our table which soon proved to be too noisy, windy, and cold so we closed it. The acoustics of the space are terrible for any reasonable conversation, and the space soon filled up with other diners and became extremely noisy. To top things off, employees were carrying bags of garbage and empty cardboard boxes through the space, passing within inches of diners trying to enjoy a meal, to the outside. In addition, the UPS driver came into the space from outside, wheeling a large stack of boxes within inches of our table and food. Had we known we were actually being seated in a loading dock instead of a patio, we would have opted to wait for an indoor table. For our meal, we each ordered a spicy Bloody Mary, which is served with three olives and a slice of bacon. The cocktails were subpar, with little personality and way too much spice. The bacon tasted strange, as though it had been cooked some time ago and sat unrefrigerated. For breakfast, my husband ordered traditional Eggs Benedict served with a side of grits and an order of bacon. The Bennies were just fine, if you don't mind your poached eggs being very overcooked and somewhat cold. The grits had absolutely no seasoning or flavor at all. He had to remind our server to bring the bacon he had ordered. I ordered Smoked Salmon Benedict, which had a nice amount of smoked salmon on a cream cheese covered soft bagel, topped with two again somewhat cold and overcooked poached eggs and garnished with capers, red onions, and green onions. This dish would have been very nice had the eggs been cooked properly. The country potatoes lacked any imagination and flavor and could have come from Kroger's frozen food section. To sum everything up, the food was not good enough to get us to return, and the lack of ambiance put the last nail in the coffin. I could not recommend Another Broken Egg Cafe to anyone looking for an enjoyable experience. read more
