The food here is good - bet on it - as are the drinks. Several flavors of tea are available, lotsa lattes, coffee, soda, and water (this might not be an exhaustive list). The staff here is wonderful! There's that "local coffee shop vibe." Very nice and I stopped going to other coffee shops even though this one is about 1.5mi further from my house than the nearest chain store location. It's well worth the extra few minutes. Lastly, I've introduced friends to this place, ergo I highly recommend it!

    Eating area!

Friendly staff, drinks were good, but breakfast sandwich was bland, overcooked eggs, and bacon did not taste fresh.

Wow! What a gem! My daughter recommended the Nutmeg Cafe since she wanted to try it out for the longest time. We made a lunch date - and here we were. The cafe doesn't look much from the outside but is super pretty. The staff soo nice!!!!! The food is sheer amazing. We both ordered a salad. It was so fresh and sooo delicious! I also opted for an order for a cup of squash soup- it was heaven on earth!

Yum! Met a client at Nutmeg this morning. It was the first visit for both of us and we were delighted! I had a jasmine tea, which was wonderful. The client ordered a Millionaire Bar and made me eat half...and I was okay with that! Definitely too rich for breakfast. I will be back!

The pictures on Google make this cafe look super old but I was really surprised that everything is very modern and cute in person! Farmhouse sandwich was gigantic with fluffy soft eggs. It was thoughtful that they served the cappuccino with a piece of chocolate like in Italy. Nutmeg steamer was 12/10! Sweet but not too sweet for those who lean away from coffee. I'm glad the money went to a family business that puts so much energy into their work.

It's a little hidden and hard to spot. It's worth looking for though. New place that opened up at the shopping center next to the paint store (same side as McDonalds and across street from Kroger). The coffee was spot on and it's good to see another local coffee shop that's not a Starbucks. It was a little busy so that's a good sign, but help support this local business. Again, it's hard to see and the signage isn't the most conspicuous. We wouldn't have noticed it if we weren't shopping for paint.

The food at this place is insane, I've been many times and every time I eat here it just gets better and raises my standards for other restaurants. They have two full sides of menu, and there's not a single dud. Their burritos are flavorful and perfectly curated, their pancakes are sweet and huge, and their chicken makes me understand why people explode to 500 pounds. I could go on forever. The service in this establishment is so excellent. The waitresses are super kind and fun, as well as helpful. Art fills the walls creating a beautiful space that Is intensified by tasteful music picks. This place feels straight out of a movie. Every choice they make for their business is so wonderful and you can tell it's a real team effort. This is what Ohio is, this is culture and community, and this is the unity food should bring.

You can tell they're aiming to put a unique twist on classic brunch dishes, which I can appreciate, even if it wasn't quite my style. I ordered the Gravy'd Cheddar Tots, and my friend ordered the Breakfast Burrito. While the food was well-prepared, I personally found the value a bit lacking for the price. The Gravy'd Cheddar Tots consisted mostly of tater tots topped with eggs, white cheddar, and gravy. I basically paid $16 for 2 eggs; I left more hungry leaving than I did coming in. I understand that their menu is designed to be creative and different from a traditional brunch spot, but I found myself missing some of the more classic breakfast elements. In the end, it just wasn't the right fit for my preferences, and I left wishing the meal had been a bit more filling.

The theme is around their biscuits. They make the food in front of you. One thing to note is they don't have a stove! Everything is made freshly plated or in the oven. It's YE Gurl @ Salt Block Biscuit Co., Dayton…read more Dayton, we need to talk -- because YE Gurl went on a little Nov. 4th wander through your downtown, trying to get a feel for the actual city, and stumbled across the sweetest little gem: Salt Block Biscuit Co. Picture this: a tiny café tucked into the artsy, alternative side of town, the kind of spot you only find when you're really out here walking. Inside? A large, 1950s-style counter wrapping around the whole operation -- ovens humming, ingredients flying, and a crew of women running the place with the ease and precision of folks who either trained classically or cooked their way into mastery. You could feel there's a backstory here... something like "We left the industry to build the space we wished existed." I'd watch the documentary. Now let's talk food, because YE Gurl came to taste. Portobello Florentine Soup -- $6 Hearty. Homey. Creamy. Thick with mushrooms, a flour + cream roux, spinach, cheese, and herbs. Flavor was there, seasoning was on point -- no salt, no pepper needed. What I did want? A little heat, a little acidic lift, something to brighten that rich base. Still, for six bucks? A win. Paired it with the Strawberry Black Tea (unsweetened) -- $4 which cut the richness just right. Sweet Honey on the Lox -- $18 Now THIS was the moment. A thick, everything biscuit layered with: maple-smoked salmon, boursin, pickled beets, beet-pickled egg, greens, and spicy honey. The biscuit alone? Large and unapologetic -- classic Salt Block flex. The sandwich was flavorful and hefty; so hefty I ate half and tucked the rest away for my beau (sharing is caring but also... survival). The only note? That spicy honey was a touch aggressive for me. I get the concept -- the Dayton crowd probably sees this as edgy culinary innovation -- but I wanted the boursin to have more kick or tang to balance everything out. Oh I also had the Cinnamon Bun - $6 which was okay. I could tell there was good ingredients in it though so not the ugh feeling after say a Cinnabon. And here's the real tea: I noticed the clientele -- mostly older local men -- and it made me think. The food style here is more advanced than the typical café, but I can see how the everyday patron base might keep the menu playing it a little safe. Salt Block has the talent for bigger, bolder plates. YE Gurl's Suggestion: Give these chefs a "stretch item" -- a place on the menu where they can go all out. A seasonal dish. A holiday special. A monthly flex. Let them show what they can really do. Because the bones? The skill? The vibe? Already here. Salt Block Biscuit Co. is one creative spark away from being the downtown Dayton destination.

So glad I did ... it would be easy to become a regular if I lived 250 miles closer. The parking lot was crowded. Lots of people waiting for tables, but I found a seat at the counter. Service was friendly and instantaneous. My Reuben was perfectly grilled on a flat top and appropriately greasy. The corned beef was coarsely shredded and also grilled to perfection. Ditto the Swiss cheese. My only complaint? I like my sauerkraut to have serious tangy kick and this sauerkraut was Ohio-mild. The ambiance has a bit of a rural farmhouse vibe. The others seated at the counter were friendly and chatty. The dining room and restroom were both clean. Will I return? Yes!
