I'm so glad they opened their location in Kirby! I went to the Sugar Land location when it opened, loved it, and wasn't able to go back before they closed. The inside is beautiful, inviting, clean, and cute! As always you MUST try the ekmek dessert (I would suggest one for each person bc you won't want to share it!) This time we also ordered other lunch foods and they did not disappoint! Everything was fresh and delicious. Plus the portions were very generous! I came here on a random weekday after work. There's a free parking garage available across the street. The lighting inside was pretty good. I wish there could've been more natural light pouring in. Seating was ample and it was quiet. I heard a lot about their homemade desserts, specifically their Ekmeck. So, I ordered this dessert and a flat white. The Ekmeck was delicious, although I do have to say it can feed two people. I ate it all by myself, and it was a little too much. The roasted almonds and strands of phyllo dough added such a wonderful cinnamon spice flavor and a contrast in texture to the vanilla custard. However, the flat white needed work, though. The espresso wasn't as smooth as I would've liked, but it was a strong drink nonetheless. Next time, I may try their honey spiced walnut cookies and iced coffee drinks. read more

The building is located under a Baylor of College of Medicine family practice clinic, so it is initially difficult to find, but once you turn the corner off the main street, the big windows and restaurant title stand out. Inside the restaurant, there are subtle and thoughtful touches all over the place. From the freshly cut flowers on the tables to the Greek music in the background, the cafe embodies high quality. I had the owner and his wife take my order, and I was able to chat with them a bit. They were wonderfully friendly--the husband is Greek (moved here 5 years ago). I ordered a cup of coffee along with the Hoagie. I wanted something light, and I would order it again. I opted not to get bacon, but it is available as a $2 add on ($4.95 without the bacon!). There were also ridiculously delicious looking pastries that tempted. I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of selection on their menu, something that is difficult to come by in a cafe such as this. I recommend you try it too. read more

Amazing. I was just browsing yelp for a coffee place I haven't yet been to in the area and this one popped up. We go on coffee dates pretty often so I've been to all the spots near montrose/upper Kirby but I'd never heard of this place. Once I read some reviews I guess they used to have a shop in sugar land but reopened here. I'm glad cause I ain't driving to sugarland! But everything was really good! They have a good variety of lunch food and I saw other people's dishes and they all looked and smelled amazing but I was just there for the coffee. Turns out that the pastries/desserts were too good to pass up so we got the famous ekmeck and a walnut spiced cookie to go with our drinks. The ekmeck was out of this world. I could have eaten the whole casserole. Everything was homemade and the flavors and textures went so well together! The cookie was also amazing but it was much smaller and the ekmeck definitely took the prize. We also got a latte and a mocha and they were good as well. The coffee wasn't overroasted so I was happy about that and they have a variety of milk so I got mine with oat milk and it was very smooth and tasty. I will definitely be going back! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I first visited Anonymous when they were in Sugar Land, and found the cafe charming and the owners even more so. I was so happy for them when the cafe got news attention, but sad that they closed to relocate. After much antipication, it's reopened! The cafe is only about a week old, and my first visit was 5 days after they opened. The new space is absolutely gorgeous. I can tell that the decor was thought out in detail, and I love the aesthetic and presentation. It's perfect for any occasion--studying, socializing, grabbing a drink, or having a meal. There are outlets if you want to get work done. Everything is clean, bright, and modern. As for food and drink... Get!!! the!!!! Ekmek!!!!! It's their specialty greek dessert, and it will change your life. It's so delicious, and 90% of that is because you can tell that it was homemade and made with love. I love their iced mochas as well, the taste down to the presentation and attention to detail. Every dish and drink is just made with so much care. Which brings me to the most important part of my review of Anonymous Cafe. The owners are two of the sweetest and most gracious people you'll ever meet. The husband-wife duo are seriously relationship goals, and complement each other so well. Patricia is so friendly and ALWAYS chatting up customers. Tasos is soft spoken, but very attentive and warm. And get this: he RECOGNIZED me when I popped in the new location, even though the last time he saw me was years ago at the Sugar Land location (which I only went to a couple of times). That says everything about a person and an establishment. They are so personable, genuine, and welcoming. They care about you, and you can't help but care about them back! In fact, I feel personally invested in their happiness and their business's well-being LOL I want them to succeed, and I know that they undoubtedly will. I was sad when the Sugar Land location closed & they relocated to Kirby. Finally got a chance to visit this location this past week! I got the lunch special of the day -- meatballs with red sauce, rice, and salad. It may sound simple, but I really enjoyed it. J got their gyro wrap with chicken & enjoyed it. I thought it was all right. If this is your first visit here, you must try their signature dessert, the ekmeck (did I spell that right?!). It has almonds on it but is so delicious. Also, their feta cheese is imported from Greece & is creamy and not as pungent as the typical feta that you find in the US. I liked it a lot. And the owner was nice enough to go and read the container (written in Greek) to verify that YES it is pasteurized -- yay for the pregnant women out there. Their pound cake was delicious too -- the owner recommended the vanilla cinnamon one or the lemon one as their most popular flavors. We got the vanilla cinnamon one and it was great -- moist, perfectly sweet without being overly sweet, with a touch of cinnamon. J said it reminded him of coffee cake but without the crunchy topping. read more

Cute cafe! Well decorated and lit. The couple behind the counter are very sweet - I learned how to say spanakopita properly when trying to order. My boyfriend and I stopped in to grab a quick breakfast - cappuccino, mocha, spanakopita, almond croissant, and breakfast croissant. All delicious! We were surprised with homemade strawberry butter to go along with the almond croissant. (Super good.) One thing to keep in mind is that the location is a little harder to find - we drove past it before we realized it was the cafe we were looking for. It's the first floor of a business building, on the corner, with one of the entry doors facing the parking garage. Find your parking (which we found easily) and get inside! read more

I drive past the spot all the time but never noticed it because it's so tucked away, I'm so glad I finally discovered it, definitely will be a regular spot of mine now. Parking is easy with a huge free parking deck directly across from the door. Inside is clean, airy and pretty. Super small but somehow more than enough seating with cute outside tables too. The menu is simple and balanced with options for every palate or time of day. I got the spinach quiche, "the villager" a sourdough/goat cheese situation and a caramel macchiato. The food was great, everything definitely tasted fresh and like it was made with care and thought. The Caramel macchiato was by far the best I've ever had. Friendly service too. This has to be on of the best hidden gems in upper Kirby. My partner and I had breakfast here and it was phenomenal. The breakfast menu is limited but what they do have is done very well. I had the four egg omelette stuffed with the freshest crispiest vegetables I have ever had. I had a very good cut of bacon to go along with it along with one of the tastiest, warmest croissants. Their coffee is very good and they have a huge selection of tasty pastries. The staff is super friendly, I believe the owners themselves work here and they are just the best. The environment is very clean and very bright. We went on Veterans Day and the crowd was pretty thin but I imagine during the week it's pretty busy. Even if there is a wait it is well worth it. I highly recommend this place for breakfast and definitely trying their desserts. I will be making this one of my go to breakfast places. read more

The cafe is almost hidden from the main street but it's so convenient that there is visitor parking in a parking garage right next to it. The caramel macchiato is always good and you can get it iced. I'm giving Anonymous Cafe four stars with a caveat--I'm recommending it as a coffee/snack/pastry shop, not as a full-blown counter-service restaurant (I'd give it three stars in that scenario). The coffee was great and came out quickly, but the food, while pretty good, was very slow to arrive, and they didn't seem to have the manpower to fully serve the tables. As I wrote, the coffee was perfect--my friends raved about their lattes. However, our food took about 20+ minutes to come out, even though it was late in the lunch cycle (after 1pm). The chicken and waffles were definitely very good, but they forgot to take off one part of the dish that I'd asked them to remove. The place is very cute, and the servers are very nice, though they may want to build up their staff if they want to cater to meal service. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This place had the worst frappe and even worse customer service. I kindly asked to exchange it (as a scoop of instant coffee and milk cost roughly .50 cents) and I knew it's was the instant they are using so I simply wanted to exchange. They refused? I even tipped a dollar when I initially paid. The customer service isn't about the customer, clearly. I have worked in hospitality my entire life and never would I say no to simply making a different coffee drink for someone. Really interesting to me. Anyways it's a weird location not much ambiance and bad frappe with management that doesn't believe in the most simple customer service. Wouldn't suggest, wouldn't go. I was told about this coffee shop before, and I am so upset with myself that I haven't come sooner. This space is quaint and cozy. It's a good place to grab a bite to eat, grab some coffee, or get some work done. I will say the space kind of echoes, so it can get a little noisy, so if you can't handle noise while you're working, then maybe only go for the food or drinks. What a cute place! I love how friendly and nice everyone is here. At times, the service can be slow, but they make it up with the atmosphere. If you come to do work, it may be a little tough during lunch time as it gets loud and the cafe can feel slightly cramped with people moving around. However, there are plenty of outlets and big tables. Food: I got the hoagie and fries. Both were okay, and not seasoned the best. Based on these items, I probably would have given this cafe 3 stars. My friend got the chicken and waffles with the seasoned waffle fries - she enjoyed it and those fries were much more tasty. We stayed for some time doing work - and I decided to try the EKMEK, this was sooooooooo good. I don't usually like custard, but this was delicious! Highly recommend it for anyone who comes here. Coffee: I got the cappuccino and nitro cold brew, both were so delicious and exactly what I wanted. I also really enjoy Illy coffee and they serve it here. There are a few two seater tables at the back that have outlets, great for laptops and those that want to get some work done. The wifi is also strong and reliable.
