And he said the menu will expand again soon. Since I was by myself and he had some time, he sat down and we chatted for awhile. The seating at both restaurants, and you can call them that now since they do not just sell drinks anymore, has been greatly expanded both indoors and outside. He also told me they are working on opening a Plainfield location. I ordered my usual The Slugger on a biscuit for my bread choice (4) with sausage for my meat choice (3) and provolone for my cheese choice (5). It was superb and just how I remembered it from the other location when I was eating breakfast there several days a week about a year ago. I also ordered one Biscuit & Gravy which was excellent as well. I love small local business establishments and cooking. They always have great service and a friendly atmosphere. I parked in the public parking lot across the street since it was a Saturday and street parking was full. The restroom was clean, well stocked and had a pleasant fragrance.

Par for the course, I made sure to check them out on Yelp first. It's a pretty good sized place with additional outdoor seating. It's very spacious and spread out without the tables being crammed together, including the booth space. It had a fresh looking and clean appearance too. The decor is pleasant. The place seemed to have an ample sized crowd when we arrived. We were seated right away and we had a kind and informative server. Dale's only serves breakfast and lunch and then they shut down early. They do not do dinner apparently. It seems they serve breakfast all day along with some lunch options. We decided to eat lunch because we got there a little bit after noon. The special of the day was sloppy Joe's. I decided to have a pork tenderloin sandwich with fries and coleslaw and my guest decided to get the sloppy Joe's special with fries. On a 10 scale, the coleslaw was a seven, the tenderloin sandwich was a nine, and the fries were an eight. The sloppy joe was a six. I think the reason why the sloppy Joe didn't rank higher is because it was just dry loose seasoned hamburger meat. It didn't have any sauce in it whatsoever to hold it together. It was more like a loose meat sandwich or a taco burger. Those sandwiches are generally drier and crumbly in texture. I also like the option of having some cheddar cheese with a sloppy joe, or any similar hamburger type of sandwich. I would definitely consider coming again and trying something different. I noticed they had some comfort food classics on their menu like ex: chicken and dumplings and meatloaf. I hear they're usually pretty busy and packed when it comes to their breakfast crowd. This restaurant is doing things the right way from what I can tell at this point. The bathroom was average in cleanliness, presentation/appearance. I stand by giving them a strong 4 star rating for them which stays on course with their already established 4 star rating.

She even has a menu item named after her" Peggy's Pancakes" which my son noticed right after she introduced herself. I thought that was a cute touch. The dining area has both booths and tables, and they had a fun Dalmatian fire hydrant decoration near the host/hostess stand that added character to the space. They serve Pepsi products for drinks. My son got lemonade and I just got water. I ordered the Sami, which came with country fried steak, two eggs over medium, hash browns, and two pancakes for $14.99. Peggy said that was a good choice, and my meal was tasty. The portion was filling and the pricing seemed reasonable. My son got the Big Daddy for $13.99, which came with two meats (he chose sausage and bacon), three eggs, hash browns, and two pancakes. He really enjoyed his meal and we both left completely full.

It should have been $6.00, but the waitress charged for an egg entree instead of the sides only. For me a return visit for dry toast and eggs is not worth it. I was worried when we couldn't make any reservations, but we got right in - nobody was waiting, they weren't busy, but they did seem to be scrambling to find a server for us, which I thought was a little odd. After a weird start, the rest of the visit was fantastic - service was great, food was excellent, and we had a lovely time on a date night. Restrooms are on the first floor (an older review says the women's is downstairs in a creepy hallway, but this must have been renovated) and are single-occupancy and unisex, which is an interesting experience depending on who has visited before you -- this was probably the low point of the experience, that restroom could use some upkeep. Not just an unpleasant previous visitor, but structurally. For such a nice place, that part was sketchy. Definitely will be coming back overall.
