Such good prices, and good, British food like mum would make, but I come back because they're just so kind!

This place was as typical as a hotel restaurant could get!! Classy, good service, and dishes with…read morehigh quality ingredients. But it is lacking in atmosphere, something that I think is never possible to have in a hotel dining establishment. The bar is truly stunningly designed, and had a pretty big crowd on a Saturday evening, although I suspect most of the patrons were guests at the hotel and not locals. It is somewhat of a trek to get to this place from anywhere, but if one is looking for a quiet quality dinner or a relaxing drink, this is the place. I had the roast cod for dinner, and my girlfriend had the fish pie. The were both really good; the cod was well cooked and was quite a generous portion, but the sauce tasted like Bovril/Marmite which kinda ruined the taste. However, after the first taste it was better. I suspect that the chef used some kind of salty sauce, sort of a westernized miso paste, but miso would have been a much better, and safer, choice. My partner's fish pie was better than the cod, and if I ever go back I would probably order that. It comes in a nice ceramic pot, and was full of flavour and fish. The only downside was that it was so small. it looked more like a side dish than a main course, and I'm sure I could have finished two or three of them!! I'm not quite decided if I will go back again. Certainly not worth traveling very far for. But they do serve good quality seafood. Price wise its cheaper than seafood restaurants downtown, but still quite pricey.

The bar is very contemporary in design, sitting along side the Crowne Plaza, so I can appreciate the need to ensure the look and feel fit with the associated hotel. I was served promptly by helpful bar staff - they were down to earth and didn't think it strange when I asked which of their beers had the lower alchohol content - they quickly provided the answer and didn't look at me as though I'd lost my marbles. I felt relaxed and would have stayed longer, but my train was calling. Perhaps I'll give the grill a try next time, the aroma which lingered a while just to one side of the bar area smelled very good. Hmmmmyes I think I'll be back.

So, this was quite an adventure! I had organised a dinner…read moreand a movie Valentines day date with 18 friends to see Deadpool. As this year V-Day happened to fall on a Sunday, I was struggling to bookna large table, despite starting to call around a full month before the event. I called almost every restaurant in the O2 and received a shower of nopes. Finally, the man I talked to on the phone at the Harvester said it wouldn't be a problem, so I booked the table for 6pm. The Wednesday before our planned outing I called them again to confirm the table. The man I spoke to seemed rushed, but he confirmed my booking, so I figured all was good to go. However, when I arrived on Sunday, a little early to get organised before everyone showed up, they had no record of a large booking. The restaurant was incredibly busy and there was a long queue outside... Great! I spoke to the manager and she looked through their booking system to see if it was put on the wrong day, but couldn't find anything either. She took down the details of when I made my calls so she could inquire with her staff and asked us to wait a little so she could make enough room for our large group. Despite it being one of their busiest day, she made it happen! Within fifteen minutes we had a large table for those of us who had shown up early, ten minutes after that we had further tables nearby to accommodate the rest of our group. I was very impressed with how well the manager handled the situation, so extra stars for that! The food was unremarkable but enjoyable, regular pub-style fare. Unfortunately they were out of a few items, but seeing as it was Sunday evening on a super busy weekend, I can't fault them for that. All in all we were quite content with our meal here.

So I rang my boyfriend and said "There's a Harvester deal for 20% off, let's go" and he was like…read more"well they also have a £9.99 deal", and either one I'm cool with, so whetever, so I get the bus and he gets the tube and we meet at North Greenwich station. Firstly it took us forever to find it and we nearly gave up before we got to it, all the way at the end of the o2, which was a surprise as there was no indication anywhere, either on their website or in the o2, that it even existed, but that's their own poor marketing to blame... We walked in to the restaurant and the waiter who had been standing by the door and looking at us as we were approaching, promptly walked off and just left us there - that should've been my first alarm bell. It looked pretty busy and we were like "it's okay though, I'm there's enough staff to handle it" because there was about two people behind the bar, two waiters, and a manager who was clearly being a full-on waiter for the night, but let's make it clear, only about 5 of the tables had people at them. So eventually another waiter appeared and lazily pointed down the restaurant and said "do you wanna take a seat over there?" in the most blasé way possible, and practically threw the menus on the table when we sat down. At this point we were starving and had gotten all excited about ribs and couldn't face finding somewhere else to eat, and remembered how amazing their ribs are, so we stayed. We then waited a good 10/15 minutes to be acknowledged again before the manager finally came over, while another waiter stood nearby on his phone, casually texting for a good minute or two - later on we saw him at the other end getting his phone out every now and then, and every time we saw the manager catch him, we kept expecting one of them to do something about the situation and neither did - and hurriedly took our order before running off. We were sat there after we ordered like "...shall we go to the salad bar now then?" and I went and grabbed a bit of everything - which wasn't actually very much - and it all tasted like water. As I said, we were hungry, and decided to graze on it for a bit while we waited for our food. Now, as I mentioned, there wasn't an unusually large number of people in the restaurant, and we were sat directly in front of the hot plate of the kitchen, so we could see when our food was ready. Every order we watched going out looked burnt and just wasn't ours, time and time again. Then our drinks arrived and the coke was flat and the lemonade tasted like dusty water. This is something, from my extensive hospitality experience, I understand is not necessarily their fault, but when my experience was already so unpleasant, it was a worse situation than usual. Eventually, over half an hour later, our food arrived, and I ate one rib and immediately said to my boyfriend "this isn't cooked". He made me feel a bit paranoid, said "are you sure it's not just the marinade?", but even looking at the texture, it was burnt on the outside but 90% raw on the inside. At this point I said to my boyfriend, who'd eaten about three of his ribs "stop eating, we're not paying" and he replied "I'm not going to just walk out", while I, meanwhile, started to feel queasy. The waiters, the bar staff, the chefs (for some reason they weren't in the kitchen, which might explain the food wait), and the manager, continued to mill around us for another 15/20 minutes while we had stopped eating, actively tried to get their attention, and verbally made our grievances clear enough for them to hear us. At NO POINT did a waiter come to ask us if things were okay. Quite a few of them walked past and saw us not eating or having an engaged conversation, yet chose to ignore us, and then I was actually a little sick. My boyfriend is the calmest person ever, hates to create a fuss, but even at this point he was angry. I said to him "let's just leave" and he insisted on leaving a note to say I'd been sick after we'd waited half an hour for uncooked food, as he had also started to feel sick, and we walked out. Nobody stopped us, which proves how much attention they pay to their guests, and I would put it down as the worst "dining" experience I ever had, which even caused us to not be able to eat for the rest of the night because we now felt too ill to fulfil our hunger.

However, this restaurant did not. So, on one hand it was good that we were able to get food in time, but also probably meant other people knew the food isn't as good. I ordered the BBQ Burger and asked for no tomato. The waiter repeated/confirmed this. When the food came, there was half a tomato inside, which was mildly annoying. What was actually annoying was that the burger was just so sad. The meat was big enough and the bun was toasted, but there was a microscopic piece of lettuce and only one sliver of onion. If the chef competed on Hell's Kitchen, they would've been ground to a pulp. The only final criticism is that when we were finished, and as the show was about to start, we had to wait quite a while for the bill to arrive. I had actually raised my hand all the way up like a school child and was still ignored. The servers were more busy clearing tables (even though no new customers were coming) than getting patrons out the door. We eventually made it, but it seemed like a lack in priority for a restaurant based on O2 performance ticket holder customers.

I peered longingly over at my immediate diners hoping to see if there were any onglet untouched. Not such luck. These discerning diners knew their food! Unfortunately, I was not served more of this wine with this dish because either there was not enough to go round or I was supposed to save the minute drop for this dish. I would have liked to have tasted how the same white would have paired with this beautiful piece of meat. deconstructed Vinothec cheesecake paired with Rivesaltes 1971 (Grenache Rouge, Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc) - Deconstructed desserts often suggest more playful plates of food that encompass all the flavours of the classic dish. This dessert I'd say in my own words was cheese with crumble toppings. It was a beautifully fortified dessert wine and as for the cheesecake, I happily passed this on to the other diners who were longing for more. Lucky them and hope they don't think I am not discerning in their books.

We arrived and were approached by a server . We told her we needed a table for 2 and, despite there being several open tables, she asked us to have a seat in the bar area. We did, and when my husband tried to get a drink at the bar, the bartender told him he didn't serve drinks at the bar. What? Fine, whatever. We'll wait for a table. We waited about 10-15 before someone who appeared to be a manager or owner came over to see if we'd been helped. We told him we'd been asked to wait and he apologized, saying it never should have happened. Finally, we were seated. The manager apologized again as he handed us a menu and asked if we wanted anything to drink. My husband got as far as "sure, jack and--" when the manager interrupted to say our server would be over in a minute. Thanks for your concern, guy! We ordered our food, which was good, tho very overpriced. I had a veggie burger and my husband had chicken. Rated on the taste alone, I'd give 4 stars.
