Good place to have your breakfast and read the morning news. It's elegant, quiet and not so expensive.

    Watery French Onion Soup

For some reason, when I "Checked In" to do a review of this restaurant, it put 4 stars by my remarks about how it is awful and overpriced. The French Onion soup was watery, the garlic/cheese bread and Chicken Risotto were too greasy to eat (the photos are what was LEFT on our plates!) and the "Special" of Beef Stroganoff was tasteless, also greasy, and cost 16.50 pounds sterling. The hostess was surly, and there was just one, very over-worked waitress for the front of the restaurant, including the outside tables. At those prices, we could have fared much better elsewhere.

Oh yeah! Americans…read morefrom California here. Who would've known that mashed potatoes, sausages, and gravy would go so well together! Loved every bite. Got the gravy on the side, didn't think I'd use all of it, before I knew it, it was all gone. And you wouldn't think that the type of mash or type of gravy or type of sausage would matter that much, but they really do all have distinct flavors! I will be mixing mustard into my mashed potatoes from now on. Originally came for the sticky toffee pudding, so of course we ended with that. Marvelous! The toffee sauce is so comforting and rich, the cake was so moist, and it was perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Didn't detect any dates, maybe they were too finely chopped. Also the apple and blackberry crumble just didn't hit the same; it was slightly dry and on the sour side (maybe don't take a bite directly after the pudding!) Service was so helpful and friendly; I'm sure they love watching people fall in love with their food. Quick with refills and offered extra condiments if needed. Great air conditioning as well (always a plus), and I loved the green blacksplash and blackboard caligraphy on the walls as well. Bangin'

Ultimate London comfort food!…read more On a Saturday night around 7:30PM, the wait for a party of five was 45 minutes. The food was well worth the wait. The Steak and Blackheart Stout Pie was delicious. The steak was tender and the mash was smooth. Definitely get the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The pudding was sweet, soft, and warm, pairing perfectly with the silky pudding and cold vanilla ice cream.

I was in London for a short 4 days but landed on a Sunday so I knew I had to try a Sunday roast! By…read morethe time I was planning, the only open reservation was at 2pm so I ended up coming for a late lunch. I opted for the all-in which includes a portion of the beef, lamb and pork roasts. A really great way to try their variety of meats. First, the portion was absolutely huge - I definitely appreciated how much vegetables there were, the roasted brussels and carrots were delicious. Sides were all good - including the roasted potatoes and yorkshire pudding. The star was the meat of course, my favorite ended up being the lamb which was super tender and flavorful. Loved the crispy pork rind that comes with the pork roast slices and the gravy and sauces on the side really rounded out the meal, added a ton of flavor and made it fun to try the different sauces with the variety of meats. Service was great and everything came out really quickly! Definitely would recommend Blacklock to try the famous Sunday roast in London, you can't go wrong here!

The gravy was so delicious and paired well with the beef and vegetables. We also got the mushroom toast which was creamy and umami with the mushrooms - we even dipped our beef in the mushroom sauce too, excellent!
