Pistachio doughnut - A pistachio-flavored doughnut dusted with powdered sugar, with a bite taken out, revealing a creamy filling inside, served on a white plate.

I was really excited to try this place and I am pleased by what I found! The ambience is so nice, great atmosphere, decor, and background music. During my visit, I saw couples grabbing coffee, families (with kids) having breakfast, friends taking coffee to go, and singles working, or just enjoying their coffee - as I was. I was looking for a breakfast sandwich, but unfortunately vegetarian options were limited...so I ordered a pistachio donut that was really good. Definitely one for those with a sweet tooth! I also ordered a vanilla iced latte with oat milk that I really enjoyed! I appreciated that it was not sweet so it balanced well with my donut. And everyone was very friendly. It will likely become my go to for coffee, but I really hope to see more vegetarian options in the future.

Inside picture - A cafe interior features a curved wooden counter with black accents, decorative shelving with plants and objects, and customers ordering or waiting.

Absolutely lovely cafe right by the Hudson River. Would be a gem anywhere and so a complete marvel in Poughkeepsie. Excellent craft coffee, friendly staff and calming vibe. Just fantastic.

Caramel latte is my absolute fave!!! The best coffee shop in Poughkeepsie hands down. Coffee smooth and tasty. I'm such a sucker for decor and this place is gorgeous and the pricing (relative to who you are) super affordable. Let's think luxury coffee!!! The service is quick and polite. Def give this place a visit.

Flat white - A hand holds a white cup of flat white coffee with foam, in a contemporary cafe with minimalist decor and seating.

In the Hudson valley area for the day, we stopped by for some coffee and a break with the kids. The cafe boasts a beautiful new modern construction. We loved the interior design and furniture. I grabbed a flat white and we ordered a croissant for the kids. Everything was fresh and delicious. Gigi was bubbly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. They have a book shelf with children's books as well. Service was fast and extremely friendly. We also loved the view of the river and the Empire State trail! We will be back here for coffee and pastries when we are in the area!

First time here, we were looking for a place to grab a coffee and found Anna Et Pierre. If you haven't been down to the One Dutchess area it can be a little bit of a maze but worth it! The Iced Americano was very good and everyone was friendly and helpful. Clean, modern vibes with great Hudson views. Will have to come back when we have time to try the food.

Beautiful River front views - A cafe interior features large windows with a view of parked cars, a bridge, and greenery outside, with leather sofas and potted plants.

This is the elevated coffee shop experience you didn't know you needed. They use fresh organic local and foreign ingredients and the owners and service is amazing.

Seems like ample parking along the sidewalk

Such a cozy space with beautiful views. Busy yet relaxing vibes. Delicious cinnamon roll and friendly, inviting faces! Looking forward to returning to try more of the menu.

Iced vanilla latte - An iced vanilla latte in a glass jar with a straw, accompanied by a small cup and saucer on a wooden tray, inside a cafe with large windows.

Awesome coffee shop with great views of the Hudson. Staff is always super sweet and helpful! I got an iced vanilla latte and they brew the flavor into the espresso so it's not overly sweet/sugary (you can add simple syrup/more sugar though if that's your preference). Little hard to find but if you go to the dutchess landing apartment complex it is a shop on the first floor where other storefronts are too

Passion fruit puff pastry and an americano to go. - A coffee cup with a lid and a dessert with a scoop of ice cream are on a car's center console, near the start/stop button.

Going back for the second time was like going back to bed and your good dream continued! My blood type is coffee so I was so excited when this coffee shop opened so close to home! The lounge like vibes, interior design, staff that feels like family, delicious pastries, and perfection of Nespresso will have me coming back regularly. If I don't buy them all, get the passion fruit puff!

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.

One of the most unique cafes I've been to in recent memories. From the Ground Up, is located deep inside a 55+ senior living townhouse community. It was a little tricky to find driving through the different buildings in the complex. Once we figured it out, we were greated with a very large dining area that was super clean with big windows and plenty of natural light. They have a few cases of baked goods and coffee, as well as weekly specials. One look at the menu and I knew my order. Shakshuka (traditionally African or Middle Eastern) is a dish of eggs poached in a spiced tomato sauce with onions, peppers, garlic, chickpeas, and kale served with bread to soak up that wonderful red sauce and egg yolk. At $14, this was a steal. The Rueben and fries were pretty standard and my iced latte was decent. Finished things off with a chocolate chip cookie skillet topped with vanilla ice cream. Had plenty of leftovers to bring home. They do a lot of catering and use the cafe as a home base for their 2 food trucks. The chef is a CIA grad. Seems with the 100s of townhouses, they have a built in customer base. They offer some pretty standard stuff like paninis, waffles, omelettes, and burgers. Next time, I want to try the shepherds pie, fish and chips, or chicken and waffles. #highland #fromthegroundupcafe #shakshuka #coffee #reuben #hveats #hvfoodies #eater #igeats #ulster #hudsonvalley #ulstereateriesunited #cookieskillet #ulstereateriesunfiltered #cafe #townhouses @above_weddings

I do wonder though if the things get smoother (i.e. did class just come into session when I visited?) the food offerings were good but the management of ordering flow was a bit of a mess. I don't know if they set things up with a weird flow and then hopefully the students figure out the flaw, but it certainly feels like they're set up with a disadvantage. You can only order pastries right at the pastry window, but they can't check you out. You then have to go to one of the other checkout registers, but then it feels like you're cutting someone off who just wanted to order a coffee. I've never walked into a bakery with this level of disorganization so it was like really? I'm hoping this is a matter of training for the students, but from an outside entity walking in, it's confusing and it doesn't display the institution in the best light.

The location is near Marist College and I'm sure that the students would love this place. I'm just wondering if they plan to have hot options as the weather chills down. It feels more seasonal to me. Perhaps adding some spiced cider or hot Matcha or masala chai I could get them a boost for Fall and Winter. Today's visit was around the noon hour and I was the only customer for about 10 minutes. They offer special discounts for students and teachers as well as first responders which I think it's really great.
