We stumbled upon ANNA by accident.. Delicious!!!!!!!! The service was wonderful as well as the atmosphere. Everything we ordered was full of taste and freshness. Loved this place. It's located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a hip and " smoky" area not far from the red light district and train station. Sophisticated and well heeled Dutchies were enjoying themselves

    Some table snacks.

I was in the same group of eaters as Kim V. and as much as I enjoyed the company, I didn't really enjoy where we were. I had a vegetarian amuse bouche which was a few shreds of lettuce, parmesan, a crouton and some green liquid I guess basil oil, which was nothing special. After that I had a vegetarian main course of which I was under the impression that it was a starter given the portion size. But I thought this of all the dishes at our table as we at first had chosen some starters from the menu which apparently somewhere in the process had changed to mains. My dish was good, there where a lot of things on my plate that I normally don't eat but I finished it all. However, as Kim also mentioned her mother's cooking, I'm certain my father could have made this and taken it to the next level. Granted, my dad's a chef but if you don't have the talent or passion for cooking, that certificate doesn't mean anything to anyone. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food, but also had some comments on details in the dishes. Mathias was at least smart enough to order two dishes as he hadn't had lunch. Knowing that we were going to taste all the ice cream at Metropolitan Deli after our dinner made the portion size acceptable, but for a regular meal it wouldn't have sufficed. Also, since when does it cost more to make a vegetarian dish than a duck dish?? I paid twenty five euro's for some ravioli and vegetables whereas the duck cost twenty four euro's. Seems odd to me. Now, my suggestions for improvement at Anna. *Add more vegetarian dishes to your menu! One starter isn't enough and if you decide to give me a dish that isn't on the menu, please let me know in advance. Nobody ever asked the vegetarians (or non-veggies for that matter) if there where any food allergies to take into consideration. Luckily my only allergy is meat, but it may as well have bean corn, courgette or something else on the plate. *Just change the entire interior design, it's cold and impersonal. Or at least add some art, flowers, better lighting, use more friendly materials and just make the place more inviting. Table setting is perfect though, keep that. *A special shout out to the toilet. I love the fact that they use little towels, no paper, no dryer, just towels and a hidden hamper. However, the toilet itself; black and square... It FREAKS me out! Seriously, black toilets are creepy. And with the square shape it was also uncomfortable to sit on. Plus, what happens when the seat breaks? Do they stockpile these things or is the toilet unavailable while they wait for a special square seat to be conjured from somewhere?? So many questions. All unnecessary questions, just get a nice looking toilet with a normal shape and that isn't black. I have officially decided I hate black toilets. So in conclusion, if you have a butt load of money to spend, want small portions of decent tasting food and a nice bottle of wine then Anna is your kind of restaurant. I'd still rather go to a great Italian or French place for similar food with a better ambiance and price.

This place came highly recommended to us by Restaurant de Kas (arguably THE best resto in A'dam) and we arrived with high expectations. Maybe too high. Although the experience was nice, I'm not sure how many times I will return or recommend it. It was too expensive for what you got, and too busy to feel cozy and tended to. We left feeling like it was a nice enough night, but not excited.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

Located on the Rozengracht, it's super central and easy to get to from just about anywhere in the Jordaan or the Center. * The Atmosphere: It's dark, moody, and has a very cool "late-night" energy. Even if you aren't sure what it is from the street, the vibe inside is unmistakable. * The Food: If you like meat, this is your spot. The burgers are massive and juicy, and the ribs literally fall off the bone. * The Vibe: It's a bit louder and more energetic than a standard restaurant, making it perfect for a night out with a group or a casual date with great cocktails. It gets incredibly busy, so even though it feels like a "hidden" spot from the outside, you'll definitely want to book a table ahead of time. Overall: A total neighborhood win. Don't make the mistake of walking past it for as long as I did!

We entered and seated ourselves, and within 5 minutes, a staff person greeted us, brought us a flask of tap water (tastes great and clean) and two glasses, and gave us menus. We ordered a short rib sandwich for him and a chicken Caesar sandwich for me. These come à la carte but you can add sides if you want. I was glad we didn't because the portion was generous. One thing I've noticed here is that the bread is always high quality--our sandwiches came in baguettes about 8 inches long --I had to cut mine in half to eat it lol. Both were savory and flavorful and satisfying. The meat was tender and well seasoned. We savored every bite! They both had crispy bacon in them as well. Very filling! Just what we needed to energize us after our morning at Keukenhof!
