Not sure what poor customer service others were talking about because I received excellent customer service today at this AT store. I used to shop at the AT Embarcadero store in SF for work clothes. But that store was permanently closed due to COVID. This is the closest AT store to me. I'm in need of new work pants because I gained 10 lbs during the pandemic and I'm now back in the office. Sigh! The COVID belly. So I drove all the way here to this store. The two ladies Ping and Katie went above and beyond trying to help me. I tried at least 15 pairs of pants and finally found a winner. Recently I visited Ann Taylor in Stanford shopping center and then in valley Fair Mall and I was ready to give up on this brand. I'm so glad I drove up to stoneridge. The store is well organized and the merchandise is visible. Best part is the customer service I really want to call out this lovely lady called Ping. Helpful suggestions and genuine desire to give a good experience. I hope she and the store do well. I came away with a new way to work wardrobe. Very happy and satisfied. read more

She was taking her time with her. After she finished my transaction, she immediately greets the next customer while I am still bagging my own stuffs. #67 Such cute styles. I went in today to grab one, maybe two pair of shorts for an upcoming trip to the Dirty South--it is hot down there and I need the right clothing to be comfortable. A girl friend of mine does all her shopping at Ann Taylor and told me that if I could not find a cute pair of shorts there I was insane and had no taste. Challenge accepted. I entered the store after lunch and really wanted to just grab the first thing I saw and get back home. No such luck--they had just put out several pair of new shorts and I felt like I needed to try on a pair--or ten! The lady helped me with all the dresses and shirts I was carrying on hangars, and that gave me ample room to start grabbing every cute pair of shorts I saw. I thought, "I will just try on a few pair and pick the one (or two) that I like best." Simple? Not so simple... Every pair was so super cute in their own way: Blue with polka dots--cute. Black and white gingham--cute. Chartreuse with yellow striped linen--cute. Red and white linen strips--cute. Blue floral--cute. Pink floral--cute. Dark blue thin denim-like material--cute. White linen--cute. I took everything to the counter and the sales associate even commented, "Wow, looks like you liked everything you took into the fitting room." Very poor customer service. I bought a dress online; after trying it on at home, the fit wasn't good so I decided to return the dress the next day. When I brought it into the store, I had no idea why there was a white spot right in the waist area until the associate pointed out to me. The first thing that came right out of her mouth was: we can not take this back. I was speechless. I haven't even worn the dress. I tried it out once at home and didn't really pay attention to anything except for how the dress fit me. They didn't even bother to find out if the item was already like that when it was sent to me. Terrible service by the manager today. The 2 other employees were fine and appeared to be new and unfamiliar with the online ordering system. They really tried but eventually had to get the manager to assist. The manager was on what sounded like a personal call in the back. She continued to be on the call on her cellphone when she came out to attempt to assist. She did not greet me or acknowledge I was waiting. I pretty much had to help the associate navigate their system. She lended minimal help to her staff and even when I asked her to help. The more mature looking lady that assisted me was extremely nice and thanked me a couple times for my patience. The manager never said anything to me except when I asked if my receipt was going to be emailed? She standoffishly responded, yes online orders are emailed and asked if I wanted to take a picture of the receipt on the system; her tone was as if I should have known. GREAT SERVICE BUT B***CHY CUSTOMERS. This place is packed on Saturdays and only 4 people working. I swear today's experience made me write this review, I never write any reviews but I just had to. I walk in there greeted by some girl with short black hair, she was super sweet and awesome did not get her name, but she helped so much, got me the shoes I wanted! Great deal 60% off! So I'm ready to be rung up and out of no where this old rude lady cuts in front of me and is with her sun or young boyfriend idk, and is trying to buy these cheap orange shirts that she kept saying the manager should have put on hold. Shut up and stop your whining, these people are helping a lot of customers. Your adults find your own things. Oh my gosh she was loud and rude calling them idiots. If this was my store I would have called security and have her leave, that is not okay. People like that are trash. Don't go to a classy place dressed like a 3 year old and hair like you just woke up and expect to be treated like a god. Sick.. Very disappointed in the customer service here. So much so I wrote a very detailed letter to the company. I went there this past week and was never greeted or asked if I needed assistance. Funny, though, that other customers were and there was not a lack of staff. I left because I was really put off and figured I could spend my birthday certificate (the company sent me) at Loft. Found out from mall staff that there is no Loft. Well, the certificate expired that day so I had to use it (use it or lose it? Gotta use it!) I went back to the store and what to do you know. No greeting, no assistance. But plenty of staff. Luckily I found something I liked (because no one was certainly going to help me) and bought it. The only time I received acknowledgement was when I was being rung up. The associate was very pleasant but by then, it was too late. Disappointed. I will try my hardest to not shop at this store again because I obviously don't fit their desired demographics. They need some sort of boot camp-style intensive training in customer service and care. read more

I think it's time the sales reps from this store take a class on good customer service or at least decent customer service. I've been in four times and all four times have had a horrible experience! Why do I keep going in? Because I have 2 gift cards that need to be used. My most recent experience was Saturday. I walked in, was looking through the items and the sales lady checking inventory moved all the clothing I filtered through so she can do her job. I looked at her thinking it was a joke. It wasn't. Now that I'm a "working professional" with a decent title, I started shopping at places like Ann Taylor. My beef is with this particular store in Stoneridge. I tried on some slacks near closing time, and I found it odd that the security tag had been cut off and stuffed in the pocket. I didn't think much of it and tossed the tag on the floor. In the end I didn't by the pants and headed out (they were closing, I was trying to be courteous). However, the manager came running after me carrying the pants and the tag and asked if I cut the tag off in a very rude accusatory tone. I told her how I found it - her reaction was "Are you sure??" I'm thinking, if I wanted to steal the pants why would I leave them in the dressing room?? By then the doors had been locked, and she reluctantly let me out. With that kind of treatment, why would I go back? I'd rather shop at the larger (better staffed) Ann Taylor in Valley Fair. read more

I was in Ann Taylor, which was empty, looking at clothes, and suddenly a woman started looking at clothes directly across from me on the other side of the rack. I could sense something was up, she didn't seem like a customer. Feeling uncomfortable, I looked at her, she feigned looking at clothes for a second more and then suddenly said, "Can I help you?" I said, "Do I look like a shoplifter?" I didn't say that, (I should've) but that was what was going on. The customer service in this store is always pretty good and people are there to help you when you need it, but not in that high pressure sales annoying kind of way. They carry petites, which is important for shrimps like me. The petites section is on the small side, but I don't seem to have too much trouble finding what I am looking for. The store is well laid out and carries a great variety of business wear. They have some evening-ish wear as well, but I wouldn't say that is their specialty. For a larger selection (but poorer service), go to their Walnut Creek location. read more

Truthfully, I've never before shopped at Ann Taylor. BUT...I'm getting married in a few short months and it's making me do crazy things. Like pick bridesmaids and force them to suffer though long, unsuccessful shopping trips to bridal boutiques for $$$ taffeta, silky, satiny, lacy dresses. We almost gave up hope of finding a cute, yet "bridesmaidy" dress in time for the big day (did you know it takes 12 weeks to get a dress made?!?) when a friend suggested Ann Taylor. I thought this place just sold mom-appropriate work gear. Oh was I wrong. We found the PERFECT dresses that actually fit and my bridesmaids love them! And instant gratification - no three month wait here. The employees (Rachel in particular) were wonderful - so excited for us and very helpful. Really poor exchange policy. Past 30 days they will give you pennies on the dollar in store credit back. Sure, this is a corporate policy and isn't a reflection of the people working at the store but watching the staff struggle to figure out how much to give you is painful. 30 minutes of struggle latter you will find out it was a fraction of what you paid. read more

I give five stars to the blond woman who helped me find the perfect fit in pants and suiting. Her knowledge and suiting were truly exceptional. She was funny and engaging as well which made the experience more fun. I give negative fifty stars to the woman who arnb me up at the end. The receipt says "Michelle," so I assume she was the person who put a very negative end to an otherwise positive experience. First she'd asked me about 5 times whether I'd paid for the merchandise that I'd exchanged earlier for the correct fit and size. I didn't appreciate the somewhat accusatory tone. Also, she would not accept a coupon I had received through email because she said it looked like one that only Ann Taylor credit card customers would get and if I didn't have an Ann Taylor card, I shouldn't have gotten it. I'd never heard of such a thing. I would have made a stink out of it, but this woman was so unpleasant, I just wanted to get out of there. Since she would not accept my coupon I told her to put back the $120 shoes I was going to buy and she didn't seem to care at all. Then she rang me up for the 3 shirts I assumed were 50% off because there were signs all over the store that said "Tops 50% off". She failed to tell me that one of the shirts was not part of the promotion and I didn't notice until I got home that I'd been charged $79.50 for a basic button down work shirt. I'll be returning that today. Anyways, after this whole debacle, the woman pushed me to sign up for the store credit card even though I said "no" several times. I ended up telling her to stop pushing me about the card and that I wasn't interested. Ugh what a terrible ending to such a fabulous suit fitting experience. Michelle should not be working with the public. I hope I don't have to deal with her when I return the shirt she failed to tell me was full price when it was obvious that I was buying the tops because they were 50% off. Although I LOVE the way Ann Taylor fits my bod, I'm disappointed with the selection of petites at this location. It's severely anorexic, so I rarely get to purchase much in terms of clothing here. Every time I go into this store, I swear to myself I'm never going back. The customer service is horrible and if you try to return anything they immediately try to tell you why they can't return the item or give you a guilt trip for returning it. I don't think I've ever had an employee say hi or how can I help you or can I start a room or ask if they could find another size. And omg can the checkout line be any slower. There's always only one person checking out customers and a long slow line. And to make it worse, every time I've tried on clothes they ask everyone a million times to take the clothes out of the dressing rooms and hang them on the rack outside. I mean why even have employees? What do they even do? Why should customers do their work? I can understand a cheap discount store asking customers to bring their clothes out but don't charge premium rates for your clothes then run like a discount store. The only reason I even gave it two stars is because they occasionally have cute items that draw me back in. But I'll never pay full price because the quality isn't there and they have 40% off sales every two weeks practically. And occasionally I'll get a semi friendly sales clerk but then I never seen them again. The good ones must leave to go work at Nordstrom. read more

I purchased a dress for my wife. I live out of the area and I like to surprise her with things since there is not an Ann Taylor near our home. The dress I chose wasn't right. The next time I was in town they would not let me return the dress because it was a few days past their arbitrary 45 day return policy. I work in retail myself so I know it would have been easy to take back. The lady at the counter was rude and the manager wouldn't come out from the back to speak to me. I will never shop here again and I will be reversing the charge on my credit card. It doesn't make sense to lose a customer over such a small issue. Ann Taylor does NOT understand customer service This particular store has some very unhelpful sales associates and management I had a necklace that I wore once and several months later I went to put it on and it broke spilling beads all over.When I looked at the broken cotton thread I knew it was far to thin a material to hold the weight of the beads I did not think it would be an issue to bring in a necklace that you can visually see was not constructed correctly. The necklace cost arount 59$ dollars which should have meant it was a quality piece To my disappointment the person who claimed to be in management came out after I waited about 8 minutes and was NOT at all helpful My feeling is if you sold me an item that did not hold up you need to make it right for your customer Her attitude was we had a similiar necklace in blue on the clearance section a few weeks ago.He attitude seemed to be why are you bringing back this necklace we have a 60 day return policy My statement was you sold a defectively made product I expect this matter to be taken care of. Unfortunately it did not occur to me that the necklace would break on its second wearing so although I looked and looked I could not locate my receipt So let that be an expensive lesson NEVER NEVER MISPLACE YOUR RECEIPT FROM ANN TAYLOR they are not Nordstrom and will do nothing to help you I asked the saleslady / management for her name so I could contact Ann Taylor She refused to give it saying she did not have to Keep in mind my voice was never raised I was calm through the entire discussion So I left went home and called the 800 number A pleasant man answered documented the matter and said corporate would get back to me I than called the Valley Fair Ann Taylor asked for contact information for the district manager.Imagine my surprise to be told they could not give me this information I never heard of a store that wont connect you with a district manager Corporate did not contact me until I wrote 2 emails and received 2 responses both not helpful This man who reponded in email did not understand that when you sell a product dont tell me about your return policy tell me how you would like to make sure your products were quality controlled I wore the necklace once and yes it may have been a few months later before I attempted a second wearing but people often wait to wear items.They recognized the necklace in the store they knew it was not sold years ago so their concern and corporates concern should have been we have an unhappy customer who has taken time to tell us about this issue lets try to help her not reitterate the 60 day return policy which should not pertain to DEFECTIVE items I will no longer shop at Ann Taylor and if you do inspect the quality of whatever you purchase Thanks for reading this really long post read more

This store is awful! Why is this store still open? I use to shop at the Ann Taylor store in Blackhawk and Walnut Creek and now they are gone I have shopped at the Pleasanton store and the sales people, including the manager are not helpful at all and the morale is very low, thus lack of good customer service. My other issue is with Ann Taylor clothes. The styles and quality are not up to par like they were 20 years' ago as far as career clothes. The sizes are not consistent and clothes are boring looking and cheap. I still shop at Ann Taylor for casual clothes but will go to the San Leandro or Livermore outlet store where I know I will get a higher level of service and a pleasant shopping experience. read more

Went into the store on Thursday 10/5 after they opened to return a dress and pick up an online order AFTER I received an email indicating the order was ready. I was astounded at how they treated me. The dress i needed to exchange was Stained when I purchased it. I had a note from the manager on duty indicating the item was stained at purchase AND could be exchanged. They REFUSED to look at the note and told me the item would not be returned. In addition, they cancelled my online order after speaking racist obsenities. I asked to speak to the store manager and was told the she was the store manager. I left the store feeling dejected and angrey. I will NEVER walk into that store again! DO NOT GO IN THIS STORE! The sales people are rude and they are "selective" on who they greet when you walk into the store. Lilia is the sales rep that helped me earlier today. She is rude and unprofessional . She forgot to apply the proper discount to my merchandises but told me that she already did. After checking the receipt , I came back to tell her that the discount was not applied as she said . She did not even care to apologize for her error , had a cold attitude and was not engaged with her customer in the professional way . I told her that I do not like her rude and unprofessional attitude by not acknowledging her error and apologizing for it . She finally apologized for her error in a reluctant way! The store has good sales and the clothes are of good quality. However , the service is so lousy. Upper management should have trained staff to do a better job in assisting customer! read more

Horrible customer service! I never wrote bad reviews. I think the company should know that they will lose loyal customers if they don't improve services. I live near by and went to the store very often. A lot of bad experiences. When I walked in today, the sales lady looked at me with an angry face and no greetings. At check out, I asked the price of the top, she said: can't you see it on the screen? She made me feel I own her $100. I told her the price is not correct since I saw another same top with a lower price. She gave me that face again and made me feel I was lying. At my request, She went to the shelf and found the same top with a lower price. She told me it must be a customer who peeled the clearance tag and stick on it. I had this kind of experience with other stores before. Some stores just gave me the lower price since it's their mistake. Some stores won't do that but at least they say sorry for disappointing the customer. But in this store, this saleslady didn't feel sorry at all and gave me a mad face.
