We visited Anjou bakery a couple of times during our most recent trip to Washington. It's such a cute bakery tucked away just off of the highway in Cashmere. We loved grabbing their sandwiches and pastries with a coffee before our hikes in the area. Fantastic, high quality bread and baked goods. Their cookies are the BEST! Used to be one of my favorites.... But I've noticed the croissants have gotten smaller, dryer, and a lil on the burnt side.... While the prices have gotten higher. ...... Extra bummed today, as I ordered an almond croissant and 3hrs later got home and opened my bag to a burnt dry cinnamon bun. They're definitely not how they looked and tasted 10yrs ago. We were in the mood of grabbing some baked goods in the Wenatchee area and Anjou bakery came up in the searches. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of food: good. The almond croissant was absolutely delicious. It was loaded with a ton of toasted almonds and tasted like it was baked that morning which likely it was. The only thing lacking was any sort of almond cream inside the croissant. I kept expecting to bite into it but that never happened. Décor: cozy. The place is pretty cozy inside and is full of neat kitchen gadgets and art work. There are all sorts of fruit preserves and jams on sale. The outside area is nice and relaxing with seating right next to a little pond. Cleanliness: good. The tables and general area was being kept clean. Service: good. The cashier was super nice and went over the most popular items on the menu and even recommended freshly baked breads which often sells out. Price: expensive. The croissant was almost $7 which is very high for central Washington. This place is way too far away from Seattle to demand Seattle like prices. I think that it should have been more like $5. If you're up for some good and fresh breakfast and don't mind paying high prices then Anjou Bakery is a good option. read more

No gluten free baked goods. No decaf espresso. No place to sit inside. So basically this is a to go place only. Without the drive thru. No dogs allowed outside. Extremely overpriced. This place continues to seriously disappoint. Especially for anyone who remembers what it was when it first opened. My husband and I got back in the car and marveled that this place is even still in business. And I'm off to get coffee and baked goods elsewhere! Only came because I had a gift certificate to use up from someone who clearly doesn't know yet how ugh this place is. I will say they were friendly and pleasant when we went in. I loved their coffee! Vita is my favorite. Also, they did a great job making my latte! I wish they had a restroom inside. More seating will be nice too. Food was great! I have been here and tried everything from bread to pie hoping to like it. For me personally the pastries are just not that great. The small hand pies are good out of all of it. I pass this place all the time but it's forgotten I don't crave it. Service is good and the ambiance is nice with outside seating but they seem to rush you out like the days of COVID. All and all it may be a personal preference but for us it's just not worth a drive or the cost to visit. read more

The food and bread are great. They have good yummy food but the sandwiches are served cold though. When I asked the employees to warm and toast the sandwich they said they "didn't have a toaster". (Are you kidding me! You are a bakery yet you don't have a toaster?) by the way, they used to toast them before. We've been coming here for 20 years and it just keeps getting better! The grounds are really lovely now including tons of flowers and lots of seating options including picnic tables and lots of other seating too. The pastries are to die for. Today I had an almond croissant which was just as good as anything that I had in Paris! The sourdough a blueberry muffin was most excellent too and was loaded with a thick layer of blueberries at the bottom. I highly recommend stopping here on your way in or out of Leavenworth or Wenatchee. Nestled in and amongst the orchards and truly lovely! read more

At first glance, the place looks really nice and quaint, like a little French Bakery. We stopped here at 8:30am. They have freshly baked croissants but they aren't warm so that makes them super dry and crumbly instead of flaky. You can tell they were nice when fresh our of the oven but stacking them up on the shelves on a cold morning does a number on them. The baguette too had the same problem, wish it was fresh and warm instead of cold and dry; it again seemed like it would be excellent fresh but had just been left out to sit for a while. The coffee is fantastic, freshly brewed and very aromatic. Overall it seems a little too pricey for the quality of the food. read more

This place really comes out of nowhere. We were on a cross Washington bike trip and it seemed like once we went over the Cascades, things changed quite a bit. When we came across Anjou Bakery in the middle of an a pear field, it really felt like we were transported back to Portland or Seattle. This place was a dream. The cappuccinos were spot on, the cinnamon rolls gooey, the croissants buttery, laminated, and flakey, and the baguette sandwiches delicious. Looked they had a CSB/weekly bread subscription that I would have signed on to immediately if I lived in the area. Everything here is 1000x better than the faux European bakeries in the ersatz Bavarian village of Leavenworth. read more

I went today for a quick breakfast and it was an awesome experience. The woman making drinks was friendly and helpful and accommodating! The girl who got my sandwich was really polite and friendly as well. The bacon egg sandwich was beyond good- I mean wow. It was on a baguette and the butter layer underneath tied it all together. I'm not even a baguette sandwich fan usually but I was really surprised by how good this sandwich was. The cappuccino I had was also excellent! The outside area is so cute and has plenty of room. When we lived in Wenatchee many years ago but never tried this place out. Back then, we heard how amazing this place was so while visiting back we decided to stop in. All I can say is that I really don't feel like I missed out too much. Coffe drinks were average and the pastries were yummy but nothing that I haven't found elsewhere. Actually the pastry I got was so flaky that it made the biggest mess eating. While in Mexico city I happen to come across Panaderia Rosetta owned by the world's best (2023) female chef. I tried some pastries and the special guava roll. It was good but not as good as the awesome cinnamon roll from Anjou. Wenatchee is fortunate to have such a bakery in their midst. read more

It's the bread that keeps me coming back. We stop here on the way across the mountains for lunch or a snack. Typically we get a roasted tomato and Brie sandwich on a baguette, and one other choice. During our last visit it was tuna, very simple, but delicious. Ham with butter on a baguette? Yes please. Did I mention the bread? Crusty brown exterior with a soft moist crumb inside and just a slight sour tang. Grab a loaf to go, and maybe some croutons for your salad. The pear tart was excellent, and they have a variety of cookies, and other sweet things if you get there in time. Espresso too, if you need a little jolt. read more

This bakery is so yummy! When we're in Leavenworth and dine at the Watershed Café we always get some warmed slices of Anjou's rustic white bread. The pies and flaky crust here are some of the best I've had anywhere!! I personally prefer the mini pies to get more crust. Unashamedly, I've planned hiking trips to Leavenworth just to excuse a pie stop and have quickly realized that they sell out early so after one trip where they ran out of pie early, I've started to order online in advance to make sure you get what you want. If you can't pick it up in time they have a cooler they leave your item in for you to pick up at the end of the day. They don't answer the phones but they do respond to online orders and IG / facebook messages relatively quick. Really lovely cafe in an unexpected spot whose high points are yummy pastries and an inviting space. This would be the perfect place to spend an afternoon catching up with a friend or studying. On a nice day there is a really nice outdoor area where you can chill as well! Strangely, this place is only open Thursday-Sunday from 8-5. We stopped by Anjou on the way home back to the west side. What a great find! We got a couple of baguette sandwiches, a brownie and cold brew. Everything was really delicious and the perfect meal for the road. My bf got the bacon and egg baguette, I got the ham and buerre and we both enjoyed them. The only feedback is that I think his didn't need butter and mine needed a little salt on the butter. The baguette was fantastic and crusty and soft in the right ways. The brownie was super tender and the coffee was Vita and executed perfectly! Would definitely stop here again! read more

My wife and I were vacationing in Leavenworth and stopped in here Friday for the first time. It has an eclectic décor and feel; the staff was very friendly. Mary tried the cinnamon role and I had a Marionberry tart. Both were delicious. I had a Mocha which was also very good; my experience with mochas around the country is that most are not very good, this was an exception to the rule. There selection is limited, but high quality.
