German pretzel
Coral P.

There are a few places you can get a German pretzel in downtown Leavenworth, but the Danish Bakery is the best place to get them! They have salted and unsalted options, a coffee with other hot beverages. The pretzel comes with either a side of mustard or cheese. I opted for the salted pretzel with ground mustard. It was perfectly salted, not too much like when you get one at a movie theatre, this was bakery level for sure. The mustard paired deliciously, and it was a nice sit-down break inside from shopping and street chaos with people and carriage rides.

Cute little shop for bakery. Overall a good sweets place with reasonable collection. Tried a few items both were decent. Very sweet though.

This is a small bakery with some high quality treats. The staff is very friendly and the shop is clean and well lit with overhead lighting and a large storefront window. There are several tables for taking a walking break while tasting the baked goods. We picked up several items to take back to our room, but that cream cheese danish didn't make it out the door. The flavor was an excellent lemon and the pastry was flaky yet held together well. There was an almost crisp crunch to bits of the pastry that was excellent. Considering we just stopped by for a quickie, I was floored by the staff's friendly attitude and the quality of the goods. We ended up staying and picked up more to take out. We haven't been here in Leavenworth for about couple of years, so I was surprised that I forgot this place and glad to have rediscovered it.

I really wanted to like this place, but it fell far short of the hype. We ordered a Cafe Mocha and a Latte, and both were incredibly bland. The coffee felt diluted and "watered down"--there was no richness or strength to the espresso at all. To make matters worse, the bread didn't even taste fresh. Even at around 8:30 AM, when you'd expect everything to be coming straight from the oven, the bread had a stale quality to it. Given the high price point, I expected a much higher standard of quality. Definitely overrated and not worth the visit.

TLDR: skip. I was honestly not impressed. My mom got a raspberry cream cheese danish, but I didn't enjoy either my florentina or almond Kringle. There was not even a HINT of almond cream or custard!!! Just a dry Kringle. So sad. Not worth it at all. I don't like caramel so the florentina tasted burnt to me. Not enjoyed at all. Service was as expected. There is seating inside.

We had a fun time ordering a selection of their delicious baked goods while on a day-trip to Leavenworth. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we had enough to enjoy for breakfast a few days. Don't really think you can go wrong, so let your tummy be your guide!

During a great holiday visit to Leavenworth, we tried out many great foods. The Danish Bakery was on the list of places to go. It was super crowded and there was a long line. I found a seat and my daughters went to get sweets. I got an almond Kringle and it was just OK. Pastries are so much better if they're warmed up. One of my daughters got a raspberry scone and the other one got a lemon scone. Not entirely sure if they were scones because they were wrapped in a circle like a typical danish. I think they said that's what they were. The lemon one was the best. The raspberry ones sadly wasn't all that. And again it was thin, hard and cold. I only went to one bakery, but with all the choices there you might want to consider something else because it's not worth a long wait in line in my opinion.

Came into this place because it had a good smell. The service is friendly and helpful. They're very on it. Only downside is I wish they had more options. Overall, good place. The lemon danish is good. I'd recommend it.

Disappointing Food and Service @ The Danish Bakery in Leavenworth, WA. We tried a soft pretzel here the day before Thanksgiving and were disappointed indeed. Even though the line to order was long, it moved rather quickly. We ordered a salted soft pretzel with hot mustard and cheese sauce. After we paid, I asked the employee for a couple of napkins, since she didn't include any with our order, and were located directly behind her. Instead of handing me some, she told me there were napkins further down the counter, where I had to maneuver around other patrons and then back out across the narrow space. The pretzel itself was not warm, nor were we asked if we wanted it warmed up. It tasted like white bread with salt. Stale white bread. The cheese sauce tasted like literally nothing, but the hot mustard was good. The only good thing here was the .85 cent condiment cup of hot mustard. We would not return or recommend this bakery.

Yummy everything. Yesterday we got a Danish and a strudel. Sorry no pic but still delicious!

Great little place for pastries. Friendly service and good coffee to go with the food. Decent prices. Keep going strong everybody! You rock!

The desserts that we got were so good. We also got some coffees to enjoy with our dessert . The staff were nice and friendly and got our items out as soon as possible. Very nice place dawning German flare.

We've been here three times, always getting something different. We love the Bavarian waffle and have enjoyed the all the pastries we've had. We had not read the reviews but now see that the soft pretzel is disappointing. It's bland, not really warm (even though they said it was) and the cheese is a side of orange nacho cheese. Would recommend avoiding getting a pretzel. We got an eggnog latte (seasonal) and it was drastically different in flavor back to back days. Would still recommend stopping by for a pastry.

All the pastries we bought were super stale. We decided to toss it all after a few bites and save the calories for something else.

The bakery is old and small with limited seating, which actually reminds us of the authentic grab-and-go spots in Germany. We always go for the Bienenstich (bee sting cake). The server at the counter was really sweet and helpful; she cut us a big 'ole slice knowing we were sharing. We devoured that incredible slice, which delivered a perfect bite of creamy vanilla custard nestled between soft yeast cake and a crunchy, caramelized honey-almond topping. The contrast of the smooth filling and the sticky, nutty 'sting' makes for a truly memorable dessert experience, perfect every time. We also snagged a mini pretzel loaf. We were only missing mustard, but honestly, my husband said it was so good it didn't even need anything. It was fun to see the baker hard at work making bread, and the whole place smelled amazing. If you go, get there early--they sell out fast!

Everything looks so good it's hard to choose! We ended up ordering three cookies per person and happily stretched them out over the next few days. Before heading back to Seattle, we made one last stop to grab a to-go box for the road and for home. Totally worth it. Yummo! Also, there is a small Gift Shop all things Gingerbread.

I got the savory biscuit and it was delicious. Super flaky, buttery and flavorful. It also tastes freshly made. I got the lavender and honey coffee and that was delicious as well. Not too sweet, good balance with the honey. Super quaint but small indoor seating area and a large outdoor patio makes a good hangout spot. Theres also plenty of merchandise inside the coffee shop too, and all seem to be of great quality which is a plus. My favorite thing about this place is the business model. Gratuity is not expected. It's listed that the workers there get a living wage and a percentage of the daily sales. More a reason to support this local establishment.
