We stopped at Smallwood's Harvest while coming back from Wenatchee. This is one of the local family farm stands in Leavenworth, WA, and is a must-stop for all families. They offers a wide assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables; also carries a diverse selection of local wines and products that are mostly produced in the valley. We picked up a lot of fruits - variety of apples and pears - we never get them in our local store. They were delicious and better than the store-brought fruits. Very impressed by their selections - pickles, relish, wines, honey based products, chocolates. Wow, I lost track of what all they actually offers there. Also, it's a hub for fun activities - cow train, petting farm, and a huge play area with so many activities to keep everyone entertained. Service was fantastic. Kids thoroughly enjoyed stopping there. great time and some nice memories. Easily accessible from Hwy-2. Plenty of parking too. Would love to go back here this season as well. Huge Selection of Goods to Buy and Motivated Animals to Pet & Feed @ Smallwood's Harvest in Peshastin, WA. !! We stopped at this tourist attraction on the way to Leavenworth the day before Thanksgiving and we were happy we did. The store itself had ample space to wander throughout. Well-stocked and organized sections with a wide selection of goods for all savory and sweet palates. The one and only bathroom could use more attention. One attendant present at checkout so you're on your own for the most part. $5.00 entrance fee for petting farm and $1.00 feed bags. Lots of goats of all ages, sheep, turkeys, geese, llamas, donkey, and a cow. All the animals were up close and motivated by food in their enclosures and didn't mind gentle petting. Be aware that they're smart and will grab your whole bag of feed if they get a chance. Wear boots, muddy this time of year. Have wet wipes available to wipe hands after feeding if you hand feed animals, no washing stations. Or go back into the store to wash hands in the bathroom like we did. On the other side of the parking is a good size playground area for kids, but I personally did not check it out. Definitely worth a visit overall. read more

We set out to find petting zoos last Saturday when we were in Leavenworth and drove past Smallwood then circled back and boy was it worth it!! We had a blast feeding the adorable goats and lambs taking Snapchats which I forgot to save. The cow was my favorite! We bought feed for the animals and popcorn for us and some jams to take home. We were only there for 30 minutes but it was super fun and definitely worth a trip if you're in Leavenworth. $5 each to get into the petting zoo and well worth it! read more

The BBQ sauce was good but a little sweeter than I personally prefer. Pickles were good but might be a little too sour for some people's preference. We stopped in to get some locally grown fruits (Cosmic Crisps and Rainier cherries), and some preserved food items. They have an amazing selection of jarred items like cherries, sauerkraut, pickled eggs (chicken and quail), to a variety of mustards. The prices here are fairly priced, and the quality is excellent. I even got a bag of popcorn kernels and we've been eating popcorn nearly everyday now. There's also kid friendly activities on site, which have varied prices. They had a play area ($5), and some animals but we didn't have time to check the rest of the activities out. We'll 100% be back the next time we're in Leavenworth. P.S. Don't drive by this place on your way to and from Leavenworth- this is a must stop. With a petting zoo, shelves and shelves of jams and jellies, vintage coin operated machines like a talking clown and toys that eject with prizes, and weird items like snake jerky, there's something you want to see here. The service is mid- no one asked us if we wanted help and they didn't greet anybody but maybe it's because they'd rather be in town Christmasing, but who cares about that? You go here to check out the inventory and to get scared by the clown and to walk away with some awesome food items. I hear they serve food, but they didn't serve any the day we were there. We've driven by this place many times and just recently realized there's a petting zoo! We got to feed a lot of enthusiastic goats and sheep as well as a donkey we could feed through a little tube. I really don't even know how to describe this store. Actually, it's more than a store - it's an experience. Located just east of Bavaria (er, Leavenworth), it's hard to miss Smallwood's. There's ample signage to tempt you off the highway! Part produce stand, part specialty grocery store, part amusement park - yeah, this place has something for everyone. There's even a little tractor-pulled train to keep the kids occupied while you're wandering around inside the store sampling everything from hot sauce to popcorn to wine. There are even animatronic "talking" displays inside that are mildly amusing (and slightly odd). But what Smallwood's really seems to be known for is their amazing selection of locally made sauces, mustards, pickles, snacks, mixes...I mean, you name it, and they've probably got it. There are rows and rows and shelves and shelves of almost anything you could possibly want in the bottled concoction family. Not to mention, wine, popcorn, the requisite Aplets & Cotlets display, saltwater taffy, soup mixes, wine, and (of course) locally grown fruit and produce. Somehow I managed to spend almost $40 at this place - it was easy to do, as the prices are definitely tourist-oriented. I get it, they have to strike while the iron (and the weather) is hot. I can definitely see myself making this a regular stop when I'm on that side of the mountains - I'm still regretting I didn't buy a certain jar of BBQ sauce! read more

We didn't by here for as long as we wanted; however we made sure to at least drop in on our way home from Leavenworth. It is a couple minute drive from downtown Leavenworth, and a must-do if you have children. The site has multiple colorful displays and a small petting zoo. The petting zoo fee is very reasonable and I think they also give you food to give to the animals. We didn't do the petting zoo because we have a dog and were not there for a long stay. We did go into the store which is mostly food - and lots of homemade and/or local options so that was great. Be wary of the "for dogs" section which admittedly is very small and not meant to be their forte at all - we get that - we appreciate they even had a dog section. They had various sort of niche dog treats - our dog liked the "dogstoppers" but wouldn't touch the doggy wine. A fun stop and we'd definitely stop there again and try out the petting zoo next time as well as spend more time browsing the grounds. read more

Great place to stop by and feed some animals. We stop by anytime we're in the area. The downside - a lot of tourists stop by to pick up local and homemade products but all of the products sold are from a central distributor in the mid-west and are rebranded by local stands to appear local. What a fun place this is! I stop here every time I'm in Leavenworth as it's just a couple miles down the road. I brought my husband here this time and we visited the little petting zoo. My husband was delighted with this because there were goats. He and one of the goats became BFF's pretty quickly. Of course this is because he had a bag of grain in his hand, but hey, it works. The shop here sells bags of grain that you can feed to the animals and they see you coming and they come running to greet you. It was a wet muddy day when we were there but we still had fun. We also enjoyed picking out some fresh produce and checking out all the cool food items they have for purchase in their shop. This is a nice fruit stand but it's much, much more than that. It has great jams and jellies of all kinds - seriously, probably more than you've ever seen in any one place, honey, candy, ice cream, sauces, syrups, vegies, and much, much more. If that's not your thing there's a petting zoo with adorable farm animals including my favorite, a MINITURE DONKEY! ... I happen to love mini donkeys. I want one...with a pink tutu. With or without kids, if you like spending time with pushy, begging, adorable animals, this is a fun little stop-off. The people at this business are super friendly. It was odd- we were driving around and needed to go into Wenatchee for some items we forgot back at home, and as we drove past the many properties that had llamas, I told Claire "I wanna go play with llamas. Wonder what the property owners would say if I went to their door and told them that?" About five minutes later we pass a sign that offers to allow you to feed and pet... LLAMAS! Among other animals. We were tired of being in the car and we're overgrown children, so we turned in and went to spend some time with goats, pigs, freaking precious mini cows, a bratty mini horse who loves to agitate a very sensitive mini donkey, said agitated mini donkey, poultry of all types, bunnies, and a smiley little pig with her sparkling new baby piglet. We easily killed an hour here. I got to play with my llamas. Claire got to spoil her favorites- the chickens. read more

OMG. What a find! Just stumbled upon this stand/store as we were departing Leavenworth for home. It is freaking amazing! You'd think my kids, 12 & 15 yr old girls who are jaded in most "kiddie" things, you'd think they'd not be so interested in the "cow ride" (individual cow carts connected together and driven around fields by a guy driving a John Deere tractor). You'd think they'd not be interested in tire swings and photo placards with holes to put your face through. You'd think they'd not be interested in duck ponds and alpacas and petting zoos. You'd be wrong! They were as excited as kids in a candy store. Literally and figuratively! This brings me to the store... Wow. This place is huge. And it has the largest selection of condiments, mixes and jams and jellies of any place I've ever been. Salad dressings, barbeque rubs and sauces, mustards, oils, pickled everything, pastas, I could go on and on. Seriously, I could. Because there are SO many gourmet foods here, it was a little overwhelming for me. There are chocolates and fudges and gourmet pretzels. Scone and muffin and bread mixes. Everything looks so beautiful, too, displayed clearly and very appetizingly. When you enter the store, there is an area with Anne Taintor merchandise (sooo funny) and women's jewelry, and then some body lotions and scrubs and lip glosses. Connected to the store to the north is a small but awesome kitchen goods section, with the coolest Bodum salt and pepper shakers and all sorts of cooking and baking tools. I got my mom a fabulous kitchen towel (great place for gifts!), and I saw lots of cooking items I personally would love but haven't the room for (or the need, quite frankly. But I love this stuff!). Sleek kitchen timers, silicone measuring spoons, butter crocks, etc. If we didn't have to hit the road, we could easily have spent many hours here. As is, we were here an hour, and it passed in a flash. Give yourself time to explore! read more
