We had a very unsettling experience with this animal control company. They sent a local contractor to our home, and from the start his behavior was odd and unprofessional. He made a big show of holstering a firearm when he arrived(showing off). During the removal of a dead animal from the attic, he handled the situation in a completely inappropriate manner and threw the animal toward us instead of disposing of it properly. This was unsanitary and entirely unnecessary. Given the nature of this type of work, I expected professionalism and basic respect for the homeowner. That was not what we received. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company and would advise others to proceed with caution. read more

They must spend a lot of money on internet marketing because they show up on the first page of every search! It paid off in my case because I ended up scheduling with them to remove birds from a bathroom vent. I chose them because their webpage was so detailed about how they treat specific wildlife problems but mainly because they advertise a special vacuum for bird nests in vents. A man came out on our scheduled day. He manually removed a trash bag full of nesting and dead birds through the fan hole on the ceiling, placed a vent cover on the exterior & we paid to borrow a glorified air purifier as recommended. While he did negotiate with my bf on the pricing, we still ended up paying around $450 and never had our vent vacuumed. I'm positive there is nesting left behind. The website states that the affected area will be "disinfected with an insecticide and disinfectant to kill all the possible health hazards posed by birds in you vents." This literally consists of spraying the reachable areas with plain old alcohol. I did a good amount of the cleanup & disinfecting over the following few days as my bathroom was left a mess. I totally expected my vent to be thoroughly cleaned & disinfected as we had dead birds, bugs & all. I kept bags over the vent for months after because dead bugs were still falling out. I was not at home for this service so I called shortly after the visit to inquire about the vacuum since that is the main reason I chose them AND specifically asked for it when scheduling. I let him know bugs were still falling from the vent. In so many words I was told the employee who scheduled my appt gave me the wrong info and no longer works there. What!?! I can't properly express in print how shady that convo was. He said I would have to shell out an additional $250 for the vacuum. No thanks. Not only because I did not receive the service I requested but because of your super shady explanation. While I'm very glad to of had the main issue resolved, I will never use this company again and recommend for others to do research. They have low stars for a reason. read more

Called them to inquire about pricing because it sounded like I had an animal in my chimney. When I got pricing, I decided to check out another company to compare. The guy on the phone said he would come out to inspect my chimney for free because it was on his way home. He came out, didn't really do anything but listen to our stories of what we were hearing (it wasn't happening at the time he was there), and he left without payment. In the following weeks I get a call from the company asking where the payment for the visit was. After I explained to them the situation they simply said "He doesn't work here anymore, you still owe us the payment for inspection". This is the a pretty crappy way to treat your customers even if they reneg on their promise to inspect my chimney for free. Now I will never give this business another dime of my money. They have shown what type of business they are. I wouldn't even trust them to completely remove the animal from the premises based on their actions. Terrible company. read more

The true test of good workmanship is the evaluation of the work performed after a short period of time. Basically, did it last. When I noticed a bat Animal Control Solutions relocated had returned, I came to the following observations. I hired them for two item, my comments are below. Item 1 - Disinfect & Deodorize area where bat house is currently stationed. Comment: The tech did not clear the area, he sprayed the area with something he said would make the bat guano/droppings inert. He did not, however, clear the bat feces from a light fixture directly in line with the former location of the bat house. I consider this implementation to be incomplete. Item 2 - Bat house relocation. Comment: This one makes me laugh, shame on me for not noticing prior to today. Upon calling another company to relocate the bat that WAS outside of my house that's now living in my attic, I noticed Animal Control Solutions HUNG MY OUTDOOR BAT HOUSE UP SIDE DOWN!!!! No wonder the bat keeps looking for someplace to roost. I am now paying another company to remediate a problem that is compounded by the ineptness of Animal Control Solutions!! This company removed old insulation and replaced it with new insulation late last Fall. In the process, they apparently broke the condensation pipe off of the A/C unit in the attic. The broken pipe was buried under the new insulation so there was no way for me to see the damage until I turned the A/C back on in the Spring. After a few weeks, the broken pipe caused significant leaks which damaged the new insulation and the ceilings below. I had to call several times and no one returned my call. The ONLY call they returned was when I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. They refused to offer any compromise. I had not entered that section of the attic (nor had anyone else) since they had completed the work. There is no other possible cause for the damage. Buyer beware of poor workmanship and poor accountability on the part of ownership. Update: when I had my ceiling repaired, I also discovered that the old insulation was NOT actually removed (despite that fact that I was charged for removal). New insulation was simply sprayed on top. This company did not complete the work I was charged for and caused over $1,000 in damage. read more

I called them because I had something in my attic. I paid $65 for them to come out but chose them bc they came out the same day. The technician told me that squirrels were in there at some point and we both saw the birds there now. There was a hornets nest the size of a bottle cap and some issues with the screens over the vents. He told me he could repair the holes for $25 each ($50 total), the insulation replacement would be $3300, hornets nest removal $350, and replace the screens for $600. I chose to get the holes replaced and have my pest control company disinfect and take care of the hornets nest. Got on the schedule and had a voicemail left on Friday May 11th that I was on the schedule for the following Monday and I would get a call 24-48 hours before to tell me my time block. Monday morning I never received this call and called. The nice girl that answered said she would call the technician and get back to me. Never did. As I was leaving my house for a doctors appt, he showed up and we had to reschedule. Reschedule day comes around and I got a phone call a few days prior confirming the time. It was scheduled for Tuesday May 22nd between 3-5pm. I left work early to make sure I was home. 5pm comes around and no technician. I call stating how upset I am and all i was told was to call the technician. I called left a voicemail and nothing. 7:15 he calls asking if I would like to get put on the schedule for another time. I asked if he could come Wednesday and he said he would check with the scheduling office and let me know. Never heard anything. I got home from work on Wednesday with a note saying he had left 20 mins earlier. I call them and again tell them how upset I am and she apologized (first time anyone had) and gave me the technicians number again. Called left a voicemail. No response. I just got off the phone with them and got an apology and heard that there has been an issue with the specific technician and she would be taking it to his manager on my behalf. She was very apologetic and put me on the top priority for a different day that thankfully worked for my schedule. Halfway through writing this I called them and got it sorted. When I first started I left 1 star because I could leave 0. I called bc I thought there's no way this is the norm for a company this big. My advice if you hire them and have any issues call the number, not the call center, but the actual scheduling number and most of the ladies will be very helpful. read more

Terrible. I contracted with ACS to install steel mesh, concreted in, and lattice work to prevent a groundhog from living under my deck. It seemed like they did the work.......until the ground hog returned, while the work was still under warranty. How can a ground hog dig through concrete? After multiple phone calls, numerous pictures, and even a conversation with the owner, they put in a minimal amount of concrete, which only diverted the ground hog to another entry point to dig. The problem was never fixed and thankfully it did not delay closing on the sale of this home. I engaged the BBB for remedy and then ACS was untruthful with them, claiming they'd done the work. Stay away from Animal Control Solutions if you want the work done properly and want good service. read more

We had our house in Montgomery County MD serviced by Animal Control Solutions--Ken. We had a raccoon in the attic, which climbed in and out through a soffit vent. Ken and ACS charged over a thousand dollars for this: 1. Apply a couple of tbsp of raccoon urine to deter the raccoon from revisiting 2. Fix new wire screens on the three soffit vents, with six wood screws each Ken fixed the screws into rotten wood frames. Some of the screws didn't even go in. Three weeks later, the raccoon has removed the screen and climbed back in from the same spot. The frame around the vent is even more damaged now, from the screws that were forcibly put in and removed. We also have two gable vents, and Ken didn't bother to replace or re-attach the screens on them. I've called Animal Control back and they say they'll have someone fix it in the next 48 hours. I'll update on if that actually happens and how well. Would highly recommend a different firm than this one. For example Humane Trapping. Update (8/8/18): ACS responded in the next 48 hours and re-fixed the screen. No issue since, fingers crossed on the three other, flimsy screens. Reinfestation was entirely due to the screens not being fixed properly the first time around. I stand by my review--buyer beware. read more

I'm adding to the list of complaints below that this company is shady. I called them because of squirrels in my rowhouse roof. They told us we had rats, sealed a small hole (that squirrels can't fit through) and "sealed our roofline". They charged us to seal the entire 4 sides of our roof ($1800!!) which we now know after hiring two additional contractors to help us isn't possible. They never fixed the problem and we continued to have squirrels (which we also confirmed with a second contractor) for MONTHS. We called them to complain twice, they finally came back out and said there were no new holes in the roof and the animals would eventually leave (now we know that they would have actually died if they couldn't get in and out). Finally we hired a second contractor after getting no where with ACS. This contractor confirmed we had squirrels, found the entry point within 10 minutes and confirmed that it's not actually possible to seal the sides of a rowhouse roof. This company completely ripped us off and won't call us back. I would strongly advise doing some additional research to find someone that actually knows what they are talking about. I've now had two contractors confirm the same details after ACS and wish I would have hired one of them to begin with. read more

The rat whisperer Ken Morgan and his associate Ryan Niebart came to my house and took their time and walked the entire property and gave me their assessment of not only what was happening at my house, but also the entire neighborhood. After their assessment, they came up with a plan of attack, told me to be patient and I must say, it worked. These guys know their stuff and no task is too small or big for them to handle. Everyone from this company was polite and did a good job. This would have been a higher star review if there was better communication from the office. I was given the wrong time window for the workers to arrive, which was frustrating and the office personnel never called back to tell me where they were. Once they showed up the work was done quickly. Now, three months later, I'm waiting for them to come back to remove the temporary critter "doors' attached to my vents and soffit. We had a family of raccoons born and raised in our attic. I tried another animal control company and they were absolutely terrible. We ended up catching all the animals ourselves, however we needed to clean up the mess in the attic and make sure this didn't happen again. I called for an appointment and was able to get on within days. (Keep in mind, the other company made me wait 2 weeks.) Nate came to inspect our home. He was on time, friendly and completed a very thorough check. When he gave me the estimate, he explained each item in detail, including the purpose of his suggestion. He also did not pressure me into getting any of the items and answered any questions I had. After doing some research, I emailed the company to confirm the work we would like to have completed. Within hour, we had an appointment set up for that week. Shon completed our repairs. Just like our first inspector, he was on time, friendly, and walk me through everything he was doing. Again, I was very impressed by Animal Control Solutions. (Especially after I had a very poor experience with one of their highly rated competitors!) I would highly recommend them and we will definitely be using them if there are any additional problems going forward. read more

Terrible people to deal with. I regret contacting them. Customer service and communication stinks, and their charges are questionable at best. They misdiagnosed the animal issue I had and claimed it would take an enormous amount of work to resolve it. When it was discovered they were wrong about the animal problem, and the eradication work involved would be a lot less complex, they still wanted to charge the ultra-high price for work I no longer needed. With the exception of the first "technician" I dealt with, and they send multiple workers at times that suit them, not you, the other workers were slip shod. If you call to raise concerns, they never call back, but they are very communicative when it comes to calling and emailing about payment for their overpriced invoice. Oh, and the person who calls you about getting their money can't help with any concerns, they'll have someone get back to you, and they never do. I wish I had checked them out on Yelp before calling them. I would have steered clear. read more

Very expensive mistake. Thought we had some sort of animals in our attic and didn't know if they were raccoons or squirrels. Inspector came and looked at our home and made recommendations as to what kind of repairs were needed and the trapping plan to catch the squirrels. It's been two months and the repairs were partially completed, nothing was caught, and there are still squirrels running around in our attic. I would not recommend their services. read more

Do yourself a favor and look around, do research. Nice enough people but rates are ridiculous. $65 to come out and look. Quoted over $6k for a bird barrier installation of materials worth $200! Said the $65 would goes towards the work but when I said I just wanted the pest removed and not the barrier for $275 they only would credit the $65 if I went with the 6K bird barrier! I bought a house 6 months ago in fairfax. I heard some noises in my walls in my master bedroom. I thought maybe mice or a squirrel had gotten in somewhere and was making a nest. I did some looking and found Animal Control Solutions. I called and a nice lady answered the phone and explained what their process was for identifying the animal and their removal process. I scheduled an appointment with them and the next day a technician came out on time and did an inspection. Turned out I had a family of squirrels who made my attic their home. The man at my house was very professional and personable and explained what needed to be done to remove the animal, fix the areas where the squirrel was getting in, and clean up any droppings in the attic. After the repairs and insulation work were done I haven't heard a single thing. Great company, great people, I would highly recommend. read more

We had ACS "remove" a bird nest in bathroom vent piping on June 12, 2018. We had to remove the fan from the inside this weekend since it wasn't working properly. We found pretty much a full nest. Service guy only tried to remove with a tool to pull nest material out (birds had already hatched and left). He should have tried to vacuum it out. I have a photo - have to figure out how to attach to this review. I should have read Casey L's review of 4/4/2018 before I called ACS. All of the recent reviews (last two years) are very negative. Will use Yelp next time. read more

Subject: Install an underground barrier around our garden shed to keep animals from living under the floor. At the time we had a family of foxes living under the garden shed. Animal Control Solutions (ACS), did not finish the services we contracted for. My wife and I finished the job, cleaned up the mess they left. This agreement was agreed to April 1, 2017. ACS came out the following week did 3/4 of the job, had my wife sign off on it. They told her they would be back in 3 days to finish and clean up. They did not come back until I called 3weeks later. ACS then told me they needed to leave it open for a period of time, so the animals could leave. I made another phone call about a week later, they said they would be out the next day to lnstall a oneway door. ACS came out, did not install the one way door, they set a trap...which I was told was not needed. I called again and complained. Was told they would be out to finish. Now it is almost September and they never came back. The balance owed is$400.00 which I will not pay... ACS has now registered a mechanics lean for 427.00. They are absolutely insane. They really don't care about the customers. Very sad very sad... read more

Hired this company to eradicate raccoons from attic. They did 5 day "trapping treatment" with no results. Two days later the animal was back. Their rep said I would have to pay full price for second round of treatment. Why would I pay again when you didn't catch it first time? They said they could positively catch it this time,they had other types of treatment as well as a trained dog. Why wasn't all that used first time? I was told if I agree to let their company to do the $4200 worth of repair work to the attic,they would credit the second charge of $350. I don't think anybody likes to be 'pushed' into choosing a contractor. read more

Their communication with their customers is poor! I have contacted them 3 times to come out to remove my bat door and all I hear every time I call is that "I have your name down and someone will call you to schedule a day to come out." It's been 2 weeks and I have yet to receive a call. Each time I call, I get no where! If you have a wildlife problem, do not use this company! Very unprofessional and poor communication. read more

Scheduling was done without my knowledge, requiring reschedule. Workers arrived late, no call to let me know they were coming, and they had no ladder, so had to use mine. Workers had no tarp, so used my blanket to step on my couch with dirty shoes. They did not wear protective gear or booties, and tracked contaminated insulation through my house. Hoses used were dragged across window sill, gouging wood and removing paint. Hose had numerous holes which had been duck-taped, but still allowed contaminated insulation dust to be released into my home. Used one of my plastic bags for the dead animals, then left it open on my bedroom floor carpet. I believe I was short-changed on insulation because the workers ran out of gas for their generator. They said they sprayed 1 gal. disinfectant, but I saw the amount, and it was more like 16-20 oz. Workers moved furniture and never moved it back. Invoicing and billing was totally messed up. I told the company about the issues I was unhappy with, but they either failed to address the issues or failed to follow up with me on any actions taken. They sent the same workers out to scrub my window sill with Mr. Clean that I complained about without telling me, and again, no call ahead to let me know they were arriving. No paint or patch of the damaged area. The company tried repeatedly to get me to sign a receipt of the work saying I was satisfied when I was not. Workers kept writing on their invoices that the customer was satisfied when I clearly was not. Be aware that ACS operates under a number of different names, so if you think you are using a different company for animal removal/clean-up, it is probably still ACS. read more

The best customer service I have received in a very long time! They are very professional, prompt and get the job done. We had snakes in our backyard and they came and sprayed the entire premise, making sure to get rid of the food chain (killing the bugs will get rid of the snakes because there won't be ay food there for them). The owner, Mike, is a gem! He personally called me a few times to make sure I was satisfied with the work we received. If you have any pest issues, make sure to call them and have your mind at ease! I found this company by accident -- was originally looking for my local animal control dept. So glad I got in touch with ACS! They proved to be a one-stop-shopping solution to (1) trapping a raccoon from the infestation in my attic, (2) sealing off the three (!) entry points into my attic and leaving a temporary one-way exit in case anyone was left behind, and (3) suctioning out all of the infested, raccoon-poop-ridden insulation in my attic and replacing it with new, up-to-par insulation. They accommodated my schedule and were uniformly polite, professional, knowledgeable, prompt, and friendly at every stage. My insurance covered their entire estimate. I caution that everyone avoid this company. I had a terrible experience with this company also. I had a pigeon control problem as well as a problem with bees. They told me their technician would come to my home, do an analysis and provide me with a quote for a charge of $65.00. The technician came, looked around and said he would email me the quote within 3 days. The quote never came. After 10 days passed, I called and emailed requesting the quote. I got nothing. I continued to call and request the quote. 4 weeks has passed. The company refuses to do anything. I have now requested a refund of my $65.00. I got nothing and no services were rendered. I feel that the management of this company is indifferent. I have been left with no choice but to dispute the charge to my credit card. They have caused me delay in dealing with my animal control problem and have 65 of my hard earned bucks. Nice way to do business! read more

We have had Don come to our home on several occasions and every time he has done a very thorough job, making sure that our home remains rat free. This company is expensive, but worth the peace of mind to remove the rats from our roof (we had recently moved in and had no idea there were rats). It was initially hard to convince ACS to remove the rats and reinstall the insulation the way we wanted, but in the end they complied. They were unable to offer a warranty on their work (they only have one year long warranties anyhow), but Don has gone above and beyond to care for our home despite not having a warranty. Since the initial pest removal we have had no issues. Don has reinspected our home several times since and he has done quite a few of these inspections free of charge. He has even repaired a piece of siding that must have warped in the wonderful Virginia spring rain weather and added caulk to other areas for safe keeping. We are very satisfied with the care we have gotten from Animal Control Solutions. read more
