Stopped in for lunch about 1 PM on a Sunday. We were seated in the bar side and the bartender had at least 6 tables, with more than 25 customers...so we were patient, and fortunately, not in a hurry. He was doing all he could to keep up, and they do have runners other than the waitstaff who deliver the food. At any rate, service was a bit slow, but the food came out fast and we were never left wanting anything. The booth was comfortable, the place clean, and there is a cafe-like side and a bar side. I got the Southern Chicken Wrap. It had a nice tang and the veggies were fresh, as was the chicken. My wife had the Strawberry Salad. It was full of fresh fruit and veggies, with good blue cheese, and was very flavorful. All in all very good! read more

First off, please note that although iPhone MAP app said open until 9 PM, they actually close at 8 during the week. My bad. So I ordered their fried pickles as an appetizer. Incredibly delicious with a cold beer ! Then, before the steam was off the pickles, I was served my entree of braised lamb shank. Again, very tasty with exotic spices that left me craving more. The restaurant has a great staff. They were very friendly taking our order and had good recommendations. The restaurant was quiet with good music on the background. I tried the Wednesday special, fried chichen with smash potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables were well seasoned, the smash potato with the gravy was really good, and the chicken was crispy and with good taste. However, the chicken breast was a bit dry. They have a large variety of options. They serve lunch or breakfast even in the afternoon. So, I will check it again if I am in the area. read more

Was seated immediately but no menus for 10 minutes. Then the owner came over and I asked if they had fresh juice to achieve mocked me and said of course his juice was fresh. I I guess I should've said fresh squeezed, because I didn't want Tropicana but he's still decided to mock me and then brought me the water I ended up with saying it was fresh from the mountain. Some days, you're just not in the mood for sarcasm and that was this day for me. After the waters were delivered absolutely no one came to take our order or even acknowledged us even though both the owner and the waitress passed our table several times. We just got up and left. We have been here for dinner multiple times, which was great. My dad always gets the catfish. I like the turkey and dressing. But I'm writing now because we just came for breakfast now for the second time. I just had the biscuits and gravy and it was delicious! And I'm kind of a biscuits and gravy snob... We shared the cheese blintz crepes to start - (Sunday splurge)- and it was delicious too! The staff is just unbelievably friendly and a joy to be around, on top of the fact the food is yummy and down home style. Everything I had was good. Ham and eggs with oven baked potatoes was quite good. Mrs. K's BLT missed her mark with the bacon not crispy and the french fries undercooked. If it were my dish the bacon would be fine and the french fries were also good. Just different expectations I suppose. While the name is Southern Grill it has a very Greek vibe going on. Would love to come back and try the Gyro as it looked great. The cook/chef puts on a show with his flaming frying pan. I had no idea what he was preparing but loved the big flames. read more

My husband and I stopped for dinner on our way home to Lee county and we love to support local family owned restaurants. It was our first time at Angelos and we have seen the good reviews so we gave it a try. The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and welcoming. The service was OK and she followed up with us to see if there was anything we needed. The chicken soup was good and hot, the Southern style shrimp and grits were nothing like we have had before. It is made with stone ground grits topped with grilled shrimp, bell peppers, andouille sausage, cream cheese and cajun spices. The grits did not have any flavor and I did not taste any cream cheese, it was also very light on the cajun seasoning. The jambalaya wasn't terrible and more of a New Orlean's red jambalaya than a Cajun brown jambalaya that I am use to. The jambalaya was heavy on the crushed tomatoes and I did noticed they used carrots instead of celery. The amount of protein in the jambalaya was good. read more

We came in about 2:30 in the afternoon and the two men in the group were happy to learn breakfast was served all day. One had blueberry pancakes, the other sausage, biscuits and eggs. Ladies had cranberry chicken salad and a turkey BLT. Our meals came quickly and portions were large. Beverages were refilled quickly without asking. Our server (owner or manager) was friendly and offered sightseeing suggestions. We enjoyed ourselves so much we came back for breakfast two days later. My corn beef eggs Benedict was served just the way I liked it. Spouse's pancakes pleased him. Waffles with strawberries was not quite warm enough for our friends. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is the sun was brutal. It was that way at all the outdoor tables, and most of the indoor tables. Brand new restaurant. Recently opened. I'm only the second review. It's in the "Marketplace Plaza in Pelican Bay, close to Stein Mart a few doors down. Opened for Breakfast and Lunch only. This restaurant replaced the former LuLu B's in this strip mall just south of Vanderbilt ave a few blocks on the West side off Route 41. The staff were very welcoming and had great service. They have a VERY EXTENSIVE menu. Daily Specials section included for the week. They have two dining rooms with booths and tables plus the counter and outdoor seating areas. Prices are very reasonable for the generous portions. Saw the pancakes, now looking forward to having breakfast there. We were here for lunch but again, can also order breakfast all day. She had the Bacon and Swiss cheese omelette and I had the special: Half Corned Beef Reuben sandwich with french fries AND salad with Greek dressing. VG!! In town for a wedding. Of course bridesmaids turnup too much so we were seeking a hangover cure before we got dolled up for the main event. This place was the saved us all! We have no idea what we wanted - so when the 6 of us took a seat we ordered 6 different plates and had a buffet of both lunch and dinner on our table. Would have loved to have sat outside and take in the nice weather but our group fit better inside. I can't remember a few moments the night before (more from exhaustion than drinking) but one of the servers said our faces were familiar. She took extra special care with us. :-) Food was just a tad better than average but the service is easily worth the additional star. No beer or wine. Very casual atmosphere, a tv playing the news and the crowd is older - closer to the 50+ but they also very accommodating for children and younger families. We were immediately greeted and told to sit anywhere (love that). The menu is huge and they serve both breakfast and lunch til 3pm daily. The waitress was patient and helpful making suggestions of some popular dishes. I saw a few wraps go out to other table and chose to have one of those. My boyfriend went for the corned beef hash and eggs (traditional!). Everything was hot and tasty. The open kitchen concept lets you see who is cooking your food and you know it's going to be homemade and fast. Definitely nothing pretentious here, you get exactly what you want it's going to be hot, tasty and good southern home cooking.
