Stopped in as a 6 top about 9am on a Tuesday and were seated right away. Pleanty of booths and tables to choose from with a casual atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Don't judge a book by its cover! I have driven past Trail Cafe and Grill (TCG) many times and thought it was just a diner-like place for breakfast and lunch (which I seldom eat out). Recently, I learned that TCG serves dinner now. The menu looked interesting, so early last evening we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Entering, we were delighted to notice that pleasant ambiance. Anthony was our very attentive and personable waiter. We had glasses of the house Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, $8 each. Good. We started with a Crab Cake appetizer, $15., good but rather small to share. For entrees we had Lemon Pepper Snapper and Mediterranean Branzino, $33 each. Both entrees were absolutely delicious. We cleaned our plates and had no room for dessert. We will certainly be back in the near future. Try TCG once and I will bet you will return too. read more

Trail Cafe is now open for dinner! And the interior has been revamped from a daytime only breakfast vibe to one with a pretty decent atmosphere. We recently dined there early in a weekday and it was packed. We had the scallops and the seafood pasta and both were fantastic. They also have a decent wine list (no liquor). I've been to this restaurant several times now and feel it is a little hidden gem in the North Naples area. Unfortunately, so do A LOT of folks, and the place has become crowded, noisy, and understaffed. The food is excellent, in my opinion. The scallops and salmon are two of my favorites, and a good friend of mine raves about the lamb chops! The service is my big complaint, with only a couple of servers for the entire restaurant. It can take a VERY long time (too long, in my opinion) to place an order or to get your food. Our waiter took 30 minutes to take our order... and this was just for drinks. We asked if he would also take our meal orders at the same time since we had been waiting so long and were hungry! In all of the times I have come to this restaurant (6+), it's the same situation, so this wasn't a one-off experience... it's just slow and feels somewhat disrespectful to me, the patron. The delay in service makes this only a 3-star review for me, but if they can fix the problem, my review would quickly jump to 5-star! read more

My husband and I thought the Trail Cafe looked very cute both inside and outside the restaurant and decided to have dinner there last Saturday night. My husband's and my dinner were the worst we've ever had. My husband had Roast Chicken -- the texture and flavor were horrible. I had the Meatloaf which was tough and had half cooked bacon on top (almost raw). I've never had tough Meatloaf which I didn't eat. The waitress never commented on why all the Meatloaf was left on my plate and took the plate away. Don't waste your money at this restaurant. My wife likes thus place a lot; to me it is OK. They specialize in breakfast and lunch, but neither one knocks my sox off. Breakfast is eggs, omelettes, pancakes and etc. Nothing very innovative. Lunch is mostly traditional sandwiches--BLTs, ham and cheese, hamburgers, etc. The decor is nicer than average and the service is very prompt and attentive. It deserves about a 3.5 but shading it to 4 to factor in my wife's POV. read more

Went with friends for dinner. The setting is so much nicer and unexpected than the exterior. Our waitress, Amaya, was excellent. Got us delicious bread and water immediately. The calamari appetizer was tender and crispy. It came with a tasty side sauce. The seafood pasta was full of fish and mussels in a delicious sauce. The portion could feed 2 people. The branzino was cooked perfectly. It was accompanied by spinach and risotto in a beautiful sauce. So good. The prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Trail Cafe for dinner. read more

They seem to be doing a better business than ever and I'm happy for them but it was more charming when the Latino folks were running the dining room. Downgrading to a 3 because they no longer have banana Foster French toast, which was my favorite. A lot of skinny, old butts sit in the chairs so I get the need for seat pads, but they are real crumb magnets (see pic). Still a solid place to eat. We ordered the Caprese Salad(ok), Filet(delicious, but closer to well done than medium that was ordered). and Salmon (fantastic). My only complaints are they had no almond milk / milk alternatives or skim milk - only 2% And I really didn't enjoy making my own bagel. The Caesar salad was our starter and was excellent. The main dish was a sirloin steak perfectly cooked with wonderful mushrooms, and the most delicious roast potatoes prepared perfectly and hot. the food quantity was very large and very and hot. We had Keylime pie, which was outstanding not too sweet, but perfectly prepared the pie came from Sarasota, so it must be something special.
