Ohh my god this is the best pizza I have had for a long time in Pittsburgh. Th sauce was fantastic and was amazed I have never been here before. I ordered 2 slices of pizza to go. The store is on the very small side a few seats by window and that is it. I have to say I was very surprised about the service it was terrible overall. I went in ordered, The girl at the register took my order and I paid and that was it for her as that is all she did was take the money. i would say I waited about 15 minutes for the guys in the back who did all the actual pizza stuff to take 2 slices from the counter and put it in the oven. That is a joke any other pizza place I have ever been if you are just getting slices and there is already a open pie on there counter and you are not waiting for a fresh pie to come out then it should take 1 minute for the guys to take 2 slices through in oven and be done. I can not believe I was there for almost 20 minutes waiting for pizza. There were like 4 guys making stuff and they were busy but are they too busy to take care of a walk in customer.??????????? I was very upset waiting and waiting. this was a very tough one to review as the pizza was amazing and super highly recommended, But the service is among the worst I have ever had at a pizza place. Normally I would have given them 4-5 stars for the pizza as it was delicious, But they get 1-2 stars for service. We ordered takeout and tried their pepperoni and Buffalo chicken pizza. It was very oily and not great. My first bite was just a bite of pure oil and I had to really blot the rest of my slices. The pepperoni pizza was very bland and flavorless, which is weird since pepperoni is supposed to be cured and salty. The buffalo chicken was fine, they use a lot of hot sauce in it. We asked for the ranch on the side but there was still ranch on the pie. The dough wasn't bad. The chicken they use isn't fried, it might be grilled chicken. Pickup was pretty easy and didn't take long. It's nice that they open late until 10pm too. read more

The quality of food at this establishment gets worse every time I order. I've been sold an old reheated whole pizza, overpriced hoagies that don't taste as good they used to and they never have sicilian white slices or whole scicilians anymore. At my most recent visit I had to settle for a traditional white pizza. The young lady who took my order over the phone specifically asked if I wanted spinach and I said yes only to find out after I got back to the office that they forgot it and the pizza was disgusting. It tasted old, the cheese was extra stiff and salt, tomatoes mushy and not seasoned/marinated like they usually are. Overall, Angelos pizza is not overly exciting, but is decent. The best flavor they have has to be the white which is topped with tomato and ricotta. Staff is always nice! They get pretty busy during lunchtime because the have a lot of orders come in from the hospital across the way. read more

I volunteer at the Bloomfield Saturday Market, which is a few blocks up the street. I typically schedule my pick up by bus at the close of the market, at 1 PM. This Saturday, I couldn't get a ride until 1:30, so I thought it would be the perfect time to try Angelo's. I will admit to being picky about my subs, especially meatballs and sausage. I was born and raised in McKees Rocks, where Ricci's sausage is a staple. When I owned a local deli in the same area, I made my own meatballs and sold out every week. I'm always on the look out for a great sub. I've checked out local places since I've been working in the vicinity, but I've been familiar with the area for quite a while, since I lived not far from there years ago. I tend to map the interesting places near my destinations, especially food related locations, both restaurants and grocery type stores. As a result, I've looked this shop up several times. The negative reviews always seem to be more about service and people issues than food, so I wanted to try it for myself. The place was pretty busy, which to me is a good sign. There are a few tables outside and inside, typical of the smaller places along the main street. It is called 'Little Italy', so you get a lot of the bistro feel in the area. I was concerned about time, so I asked how long my order would take. I was originally told 20 minutes or so, but when I looked concerned about my ride pick up, the woman behind the counter offered to cut that down to 10 or 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure that my being at the front counter may have helped my order along. My time ran out and I got my order just in time to catch my ride. I took the order with me, deciding to eat at home. I decided to give consideration in reviewing toward the freshness and temperature due to my own limitations about my travel plans. While I was waiting, I watched them making pizzas. They had a rack of ready pizzas to serve by the slice, and I was able to see the staff assemble both types, for orders and for slices right in front of me. The guy was in a rhythm and it was obvious that he knew his craft. Most of the items were hand tossed, with some folded over to become calzones. It made me want to try other things featured there. I thought the prices were a bit high, but not outrageous. It came to about $28 for a whole meatball, a half sausage and a 2 liter soda from the case at the front of the store. Both subs were great in my opinion. Many subs don't work because they aren't filled properly. Here, they know their craft. Where necessary, they slice the proteins to make sure the sub is filled end to end and side to side. The bread is good, the sauce excellent and the additions of onions and peppers are enough to enhance the experience and not to overpower the main ingredients. The sausage is a good quality and the meatballs are well seasoned. I love that you get the proper combination of garlic, oregano and basil that make a balanced recipe. It is without a doubt, one of the better meatball subs I've had in a while. I thought that it was a reasonable value at $15 for a whole meatball sub. It is a busy place for being a small store front, and that speaks volumes, since there are a lot of options nearby. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt for the time involved to get quality. I think it is well worth a few extra minutes to get it right. Personally, I'm returning to try the pizza. I highly recommend this place for the food. read more

Upon entering the staff was sooo personable and nice. Like, super super great! We were in a rush so only got to try a slice of the Sicilian and a regular slice, but both were fantastic. A spontaneous late night pizza run turned into a full me when my pal and I discovered their sandwich selection. We rolled into Angelo's. Masks on, plexiglass up, bellies ready. Pizza was delicious, so good that we forgot to take a picture. They had some slices read in the case to heat up if need be. This was nice to see, really reminded me of being home in New Jersey, where Italian places always seem to have slices ready in the case. We got olive and mushroom on our pizza. Not sure if the mushrooms were fresh. The hoagie (I still hate calling them that, they're subs) was good. I think the chicken was breaded and cut in house. It had a homemade quality to it. Angelos is great for a quick slice or full order for ten the night of a game. The mural of Italian mobsters seem to oversee the high quality of the food churned out by this kitchen. I'm not above admitting mistakes. Accordingly, I can admit that I made a huge mistake by not visiting Angelo's until this week, as I live less than a 5 minute walk away from their shop. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and wanting to take a break from cooking, I finally gave Angelo's a long overdue visit this week. My wife and I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and an Angelo's Special half hoagie for takeout. Both were still hot and absolutely delicious after our short walk home. Their pizza is my favorite kind from a local shop: traditional crust, a generous amount of flavorful cheese, and pepperoni that curls up for a wonderfully crisp bite. A one-topping large is around $16, and is well worth it. It's tasty, and large enough that we had enough leftovers for dinner the next day (it reheated quite well, too). I've heard great things about their hoagies, so we decided to split an Angelo's Special steak hoagie to try them out. Again, I'm sad that I waited this long to eat their amazing hoagies. The mayo sauce on the hoagie was perfect, and their was a solid filling-to-bread ratio. The bun is key- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I can't imagine a pizza shop making a better hoagie than this. Their staff was friendly and professional, and their shop was very clean in the midst of the COVID-19 shutdown madness. If you're in the Bloomfield area and are in the mood for outstanding pizza or hoagies, what are you waiting for? Go to Angelo's- you won't regret it. We were visiting the "Burgh" this past January, 2025 and stayed at a lovely hotel with no room service and limited kitchen/bar hours. We were getting hungery and asked for advice. The bartender recommended a few places including Angelo's as an option for delivery. Her personal preference, which we asked about, was for Angelo's. Being very hungry, we ordered 2 items from Angelo's, I got the Italian Calzone and my husband ordered the Italian Hoagie. Although it took about an hour for delivery, we didn't care. We were not on any timeline and knew we wouldn't starve to death. The delivery arrived and our meals were hot enough that we needed time for them to cool down. Both meals were extremely flavorful, had an abundance of ingredients and did not leave us wanting for anything. I was unable to finish 3/4 of my Calzone so I stored it in the mini fridge in the room and brought it home to Oakland, CA the next morning. It stayed cold throughout transportation.At home, I put it into my refrigerator and warmed it in the oven later the next day. It held up beautifully! I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Pizza for pickup since were in a stay at home order. Overall, my experience was okay! I'd get pizza here again, but it's not my favorite. Food - The Buffalo Chicken Pizza was okay. Unfortunately it wasn't super hot. The sauces on top weren't distributed evenly, but that could be good depending on whether or not you prefer sauce!‍ Service - The Pizza took longer to prepare than anticipated for a pickup order (about an hour and a half). It was in the middle of a severe thunderstorm and as we're weren't familiar with the area we looked for another option. So glad we stopped by Angelo's that night. Simply put, the cuts from here are fantastic! Joe the owner is such a great guy and comes around the tables to ensure everyone's food tastes great! I really enjoy the vibe of this place as it's full of local members of the community and the food is reasonably priced but tastes excellent. The pizza reminds me of my years spent in New York as it has the perfect amount of thickness, a great sauce and a nice firm crust! Be sure to try their Sicilian cut as well as their regular cut as both are quite different but both taste excellent. I was quoted 15-20 minutes for it to be ready when I placed my order at 4:50pm. 5:20pm rolls around and I come back to the restaurant to pick it up to find the chef is refusing to make the order because the cashier never gave the ticket to them. Another 20 minutes of bickering between the cashier and chef ensue as the cashier struggles to use the register to reprint our orders. I luckily asked for a copy of my receipt which I offered up to show that I paid and the chef then finally began making my order at 5:50pm. I got my single slice of pizza an entire hour after I ordered it on a slow Tuesday when I was originally quoted 15-20 minutes. If the order for 1 slice of pizza is going to be an hour, please quote an hour as the wait time. I work at West Penn Hospital and this was my first time trying this pizzeria out.
