Came in for lunch on a Sunday based on yelp reviews, and definitely glad we did. We each ordered a Carnitas burrito and it was absolutely fantastic. Each bite was a perfect bite with rice beans carnitas Green sauce over the top with cheese guacamole and sour cream. Had a nice kick but not too hot. Some of the reviews in May 2017 said the place was dirty but we found it to be clean and inviting. Maybe those Bad reviews were an off day. Went to lunch here with a friend after reading all of the positive Yelp reviews of how good the food was. We walked in and we weren't even sure the place was actually open. There were no lights on, the only light was from the windows. We found a place to sit by a window so we could see what we were eating. Everything was sticky. There was a straw wrapper piece stuck to the table on my side and on my friend's side, old dried salsa. We ordered, and when our food came we were not impressed. Neither one of us finished our food. The staff was very friendly, but this place is in need of a very good cleaning. I don't think I'll be back. I have a feeling the positive reviews are left by family and friends of the owners. read more

We were just in town for a night and looking for good Mexican food. We found it! Were able to eat outside. Everything was great-large portions that we had to take with us:). I'm assuming it was Angela herself that greeted, cooked, and served me. She was very sweet the entire time, she even indulged my efforts at speaking Spanish. I got the mole. It was more of a red mole with an emphasis on the chiles, not a chocolate mole or green mole. It was very flavorful, and to my tongue, picante/spicy. It was flavorful, and the thick homemade tortillas were great. I can never have enough beans and rice, and they were very tasty too. read more

We just moved to the area and Angela's is close to our place. I went for the family food run our first night here and all of us were impressed! It's definitely a family run, authentic feel to it place. Angela herself took my to go order and promised we'd love it, which we did! My mother-in-law rates Mexican restaurants by their Chile-relleno and have Angela's a big thumbs up! My husband had the combo burrito with carne-asada and it was not only good but also large enough for two! He and my father-in-law also had tacos de asada which they liked. I had the chicken mole with corn tortillas that looked homemade- so good! The salsa was fresh and all of our plates came with a side salad (only suggestion would be to add pico de gallo to add tomatoes to it) We've not lived in Lompoc a week and already went a second time after unpacking last night. read more

Came here on a whim (we finally tried someplace new!!) and I am SO happy. 1. Angela is the sweetest, nicest, friendliest person I think I have ever met. My bf was wanting a particular 2 item combo we didn't see on the menu. Her answer? We can do whatever you want. 2. The food. The food! The man got a pork tamale and it had a sauce on it which he wasn't expecting. It was spicy, lol. That being said, he ate the entire thing. The quality was amazing. I was thrilled with my food. Delicious. I cannot wait to come back and try new things. 3. As great as our entire experience was, the most exciting part was when Angela told us that their house dressing for the salads was the same as the old Don Pepe's. People with digestive problems beware. I ordered a simple bacon cheeseburger and they did not follow my order correctly. I have a sensitive diet and they included lettuce and onions which I cannot properly digest. Also about 15 minutes after eating, I ended up in the bathroom with liquid diarrhea. We chose this place because of the ratings on Yelp, so I figured this little hole-in-the wall dive would have some EXCELLENT food. I was wrong. I mean it's not "bad", but the options here on Yelp are "Meh. I've experienced better" or "A-OK which more sounds like it's pretty good. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but to me it's a 2.5 stars. ... "Meh ... Just okay." I ordered #19 (I believe) a Tamale and two Asada Tacos. Except for the 1/4 cup of tasty guacamole on each taco, there was nothing positively memorable about the meal. The tamale was falling apart and tasteless - I doubt they make these here. I'm not sure what the taco meat tasted like - must've been bland? The rice was dried out and hard and the beans without much flavor. Their regular salsa was just okay and their "hot" salsa was about the only thing that had a nice bite to it - so I used it to pour all over everything to give it some flavor. Total was $13.00 with tax and tip, so that's not bad for a touristy area ... I guess. Sorry, but I wouldn't go here again in hopes that I can find better quality food for a similar price. Tonight I decided to try a New Mexican restaurant in Lompoc, CA. It was a low end 4 star rating. The staff was a local family. The family vibe helps deliver the extra star. I can distinctly remember the first time I ate at Angela's in Lompoc. My best friend Meagan was home for her first break from college and she picked me up so we could go to dinner. We decided to eat Mexican and she suggested this tiny little place that I had never heard of before. "No, you'll love it!" she said. Well, Meagan has always known me better than I know myself and I have been enjoying Angela's ever since! Buried in a tiny strip mall behind Lompoc's main seafood restaurant, The Jetty, Angela's give you what I can only describe as the most authentic Mexican food I have ever tasted. I am not a very daring person so I haven't had everything on the menu but I can honestly say of what I have had, each of those dishes give Angela's my ranking of "Best Anywhere". From the minute you enter you are greeted by a sweet Mexican family. The matriarch, Alma, immediately brings you a basket of chips and takes your drink order. Most meals come with a salad which is consistently the freshest salad I've ever tasted. The lettuce is so crisp you'd think it was freshly printed money. Alma is so nice and when she brings out the main course she always warns you that the plate is "Very hot! Be careful!" The atmosphere at Angela's is excellent too. It looks like the cantina's you see in old movies set in Mexico and there's usually a football (soccer) game playing on the projector that's mounted to the ceiling. There are plenty of tables and I've never seen it get so busy that you can't just walk in and sit down. Drink Tip: The frozen margaritas are excellent and you can get a bucket of ice cold Jose Cuervo's for a couple of bucks. Price wise, Angela's is a steal! It's very hard to find such good food for such a good price. I always leave satisfied and never feel as though I'm not getting my money's worth. They even to take out so I can bring some dishes home to my family if they don't feel like going out. I have come to enjoy Angela's so much that I try to follow in my friend Meagan's footsteps. Whenever my friends come to town I always suggest it to them. I've taken people from Sweden, England, Hawaii, Colorado and New York to Angela's and each of them have enjoyed it just as much as me. read more

I loved this place. No frills, just awesome Mexican fare. I had the chicken burrito, but I could barely finish it. The spicy salsa they deliver to your table when you arrive is quite hot (good for me), but they also have a mild an flavorful option. Stopped in for dinner on a family trip up from Los Angeles. Tried this place based on a family members recommendation. I was really blown away- actually we all were. There aren't many food options in Lompoc, and after eating the food at the AIDS/LifeCycle camp for 5 days, we were all looking for something different. A friend's boyfriend made reservations at this place, and even though it doesn't look like much from the outside, the food and service were top notch. Came in during a thunderstorm on a Saturday night during a soccer tournament with several families. Service was tremendously helpful despite the large number of customers in the family owned business. "Angela's" is the best of the best for Mexican food. All their food is made fresh and has GREAT flavor. As far as some people complain of the salsa they have a hot and mild. Some might complain of the hot so then ask for the mild. I love hot salsa and this one is fierce with flavor. I spoke with the owner, Alma. She's a genuine, sweet lady who makes all the food with her friend. Restaurant is actually named after her daughter. Every time I go in she always had a smile on her face. Last night I called in for take out. I got the beef chimichanga combo and my wife had the beef flautas combo. We both loved the food! Every part of our meal was excellent. I usually don't care for take out because I feel like the food just isn't that good by the time I get to eat it. In this case, if the food tasted this good after a solid 25 min wait, I could only imagine how good it would be right out of the kitchen. The service was wonderful as well. The young woman who took my order was very patient and helpful while I placed my order. And the owner was great! It's apparent that she takes pride in her food and her rest, as she should. This is definitely a whole in the wall place. In fact if you didn't know better you would think it is closed down. When we entered we were greeted by a whole family but what we noticed right away was the.lack of customers. This kinda worried us but we thought lets give it a chance. Sad to say our table was dirty and the complimentary chips and salsa were bad. They had no salt but tons of oil. The food was badly prepared and they reheated portions of our food on the very visible microwave. I didn't eat most of my meal which if you know me is hard to believe. Would not go back which is sad because i like that it's a family business and i like to support that. read more
