I was really excited after tasting their wonderful cakes and seeing just how amazing their displays looked. After tons of cake tasting, we settled on them and were so excited. Unfortunately, the day of our wedding we were terribly dissappointed with the design that showed up for our wedding. It looked nothing like the drawings we created from their book displays. It looked more like something I could have thrown together with a tube of icing from the store in about 10 minutes. I will say the cake underneath design tasted pretty good. Just extremely dissappointed that the cake looked so bad on such a special day that I will never get back. Took a chance with this place for my son's first birthday, figured we'd give the local guys a shot vs going w/ tired old Von's or Flour Pwr. Wife did not want to experiment, but I vetoed. I assumed huge risk with this move! Well, what a deliciously good outcome. So glad we tried these guys. Cake was moist and tasty. Icing fabulous, smooth and flavorful, right amount of sweetness, no greasy lard aftertaste that can ruin a cake. It was a huge hit among everyone at my son's birthday. Totally unanimous decision, this cake was a 9 out of 10 (I have never had a 10 of 10. Saving this rating for cake heaven). My suggestion, skip the Nothing Bundt, Flour Pwr, go out on a limb and surprise your guests. I'm a cruel reviewer. These guys warrant my top rating. The most wonderful couple you will ever meet! They did my sisters wedding cake and they did an amazing job. They truly are the best cakes in town! They listen to her ideas and created the most beautiful cake around! My sisters was extremely happy and the cake it self was delicious! We had an outdoor wedding ceremony at a park overlooking the beach and then a dinner reception at a restaurant. Because of our San Diego/beach-y theme, we designed a cake with Melina that featured sugar corals and seahorses on the top and chocolate covered strawberries decorating the space between the two layers (we had spacers rather than stacking them). Everything turned out beautifully! It was a unique, gorgeous cake that also tasted really good! We had two layers of white cake with a lemon filling on the top and a raspberry filling on the bottom. I really like their cakes because, since Carl is European, it's not super sweet like American cakes. This suited the tastes of my family really well since many of them are from Vietnam and find American desserts to be far too sweet. I found this place on google, and walked in early this morning to sample some treats with my daughter. I couldn't help but stuff my face full with the croissant before I had even made it home. I am so disappointed. We never should've gotten a cake from here. My go to for years now has been Extraordinary Desserts but since we just moved to the area we thought we'd give them a try for my Moms 70th bday cake. BIG MISTAKE! Strike one, I should've cancelled my order right then and there when she couldn't even give me a pick up date or time! This is after I've already committed and paid for my order. Strike two, a couple days before I call her again to figure out when I can pick up my cake and she still couldn't give me a solid date! This just blew my mind: the day of pickup I was about 15 minutes late, my husband and I were very apologetic when we picked it up and this RUDE disgusting man comes out and is practically pushing us out the door and has the gall to say "get your cake get out and you've already wasted my time". Obviously we didn't even get a chance to look over the cake we purchased. When we got home I was so disappointed that I paid $90 for an undersized cake. I told her I needed to feed 30+ people...only got about 15 servings. Total rip off. Oh BTW the filling was underwhelming, tasted like it came out of a jar. I called her the following week to give her a chance to redeem herself and to complain about the horrendous customer service we received and all she can say was I can give you store credit. My cake was more beautiful than I imagined! We had a whipped cream frosting and it was so good. Everyone had a piece, even people who normally don't like sweets or have wedding cake. After trying to find a Hello Kitty birthday cake for my granddaughter's 5th birthday party at the usual standby places (Albertson's, Vons) and being turned away as if I'd asked for something exotic or unusual....I went to EIC - voila! Not only did they know what Hello Kitty is without an explanation, but were helpful in deciding what size, flavor, filling and suggested whipped cream icing. The cake was ready for pick up when I arrived (early, I might add!) and looked fabulous! Customer service was top notch. From the tasting to the end we loved working with this bakery. The shop has such a family feel and you are so welcomed. I knew it was the right choice to go with them for our wedding cake needs. Everything was delicious. We ordered a three tier cake and cupcakes. We made a few changes throughout the process and it was so easy to do so. We wanted to try seasonal cupcake flavors and it was super easy to order and go in to pick up the flavors. I am so happy with how everything turned out. Our cake was BEAUTIFUL and the cupcakes looked great. I'm so sad that all I got to try was the piece my husband and I fed each other. Everyone loved it all so much there was NOTHING left and we even ordered more servings than the amount of guests we had. Family and friends tell me how delicious it was. I first came across eccentric bakery, in a bridal show I went with my friend that was getting married a few years back. I loved their cake and I also had a good experience chatting with their bakers at the bridal bazaar. When I got engaged, my fiancée and I went to a bridal bazaar looking for a bakery and I was very lucky that eccentric bakery was there! My fiancée and I had a sample of their white raspberry/strawberry cake with whipped cream a and we fell in love with it. We made an appt with them for a tasting and we were very impressed with their professionalism, the cakes and also that it was affordable. We picked a three layer cake with ivory buttercream and a vanilla/ raspberry flavor. I had showed her a picture of a cake I loved, and she immediately grabbed a piece of paper, drew a cake and took all my suggestions until we came across the perfect cake:) our guest loved our cake and we were very happy with the way it turned out:) my husband and I are planning on getting a small cake for our first anniversary since we did not get to eat much of it the day of our wedding! Eccentric International Chefs did our wedding cake and two grooms cakes recently and they did a phenomenal job. We didn't know what we wanted for our wedding cake and after having a cake tasting and a short consultation the owner made a few recommendations to us and we loved the design! I also wanted to surprise my fiance with two grooms cakes that looked like our cats and they did a fantastic job of keeping it a secret. They were able to capture exactly how my cats look (one is a calico so the pattern is extremely difficult) and by creating these cakes I was able to create an unforgettable moment during my wedding when my fiance saw the grooms cakes and also when we both saw our gorgeous wedding cake. After reading the reviews, I decided to do business with EIC. I was really excited about having my granddaughters cake made here. I went to make the arrangements and decribed what I wanted. Carl wrote down and draw out ideas for me. We both agreed,on the colors and choice of buttercream and fondent coverings and favors for the cake. When I picked it up I really didnt get a good look at it until I got it to the party. First thing the the name wasnt spelled right or not ledgeable, I couldnt tell. The "music notes and scale for the notes, were scibbled on with pipe frosting. It looked like a fast job to get it finished. The colors were to be teal blue,purple,pinks. The stars were to be made of fondent, instead were candied stars on wires struck in the top of cake. The only color used in decorating the cake was a bright pink with white trim and a light pink guitar,that was to be placed by me when I arrived to the party, instructions were not given where to place it on the cake,the girl forgot to tell us,so we did the best we could. This was a 2 tier cake. Just thought there would be more to it,for what we paid. :( The one thing that the cake had going for it was the cake favors. Very moist and good. read more

I tasted a cake by these guys at a First Communion party of a friend's and I thought it was quite yummy. Since then, I've used them half a dozen times for various birthday/graduation/church functions. I must say that hands-down, every time, their cakes are the tastiest I've ever had. And I've tried a lot of places: Costco (ick), Vons (ick), Sprinkles, Flour Power, Howard's, etc. They beat them all on taste. No matter what flavor I've ordered, it's just delicious. Friends and family say the same. I will say that their designing and artistry are not as elaborate or sophisticated as say, Flour Power--at least what I've seen. Not bad...just average, imo. Regarding customer service, they've always been nice, and friendly, and helpful to me. They even said "no problem" for my placing a very last minute order for a Confirmation cake. Awesome. We just recently had them make our wedding cake and we got so many complements on how delicious the cake was. In fact, the guests loved it so much that we had no left overs!!! That's totally unheard of for wedding cakes. We had our first taste of these amazing cakes and knew instantly that we needed to make an appointment (as you have to do with everything for weddings) to have a cake testing. At our tasting, they brought out 3 delicious slices of cake and when my husband was not so thrilled about the raspberry they we're more than accommodating about having our middle tier have strawberry instead. For our icing we decided that since no one actually likes fondant we would rather have whipped cream. Granted, you can't do as many intricate designs with whipped cream, but who cares-- people are just going to eat it! Our cake turned out just as we wanted, tasted fantastic, and all the guests raved about it. In addition to our cake we decided to have a dozen cupcakes along with the cake for the kids at the wedding. The cupcakes are just as amazing as their cakes (they're on sale on Tuesdays and Thursdays, by the way!) and the kids loved having their own cakes, We love this bakery. This place is great! I was looking for some sweet treats to bring my mother-in-law as a pick-me-up from having knee surgery. I've passed this place a million times, but never went in. The two people working were very helpful and kind. They were kind of busy, which I always see as a sign of a good place. I was looking for sugar cookies, but they only had one with filling or in the shape of a train with sprinkles. Although I didn't leave with what I was looking for, I walked away very happy with the desserts I did buy. Their salted caramel macaroons are to die for! I decided to splurge on my friend's baby shower and get a special cake, plus based on the reviews thought it would turn out great. The experience was good when ordering the cake and creating the design, but I was very disappointed with how the design was done, very sloppy. I expected more when I am paying for the design and not just tasty cake. The piping on the cake was broken and the writing on the cake was awful and nothing was straight, it looked like it was done in a hurry.
