Swung by after dinner on a Saturday, and there was a line out the door. The line moved steadily, giving us enough time to take a look at the different chocolates and chocolate-flavored treats that are sold in the store. There were some samples of chocolate syrup on display. When we got to the front, we sampled a few flavors and settled on a chocolate and a strawberries and cream split scoop to split. The chocolate was very rich and flavorful, while the strawberry was a little lighter on the strawberry flavor than we would've liked. Both were not too sweet, which was perfect. I'd definitely come back to try out some of the other flavors, as the worker let us know they rotate out different flavors day to day as the previous flavors get finished. read more

It's chocolate. There's not much not to like! They have plenty of options, their display cases are organized and well stocked. They have chocolate wine bottles and other goodies as well. The customer service was great. The lady was patient with our indecisiveness in picking our chocolates. We tried a number of pieces. But specifically I liked the glazed almond crunch, which tasted almost like nestle crunch but with flakes of almond, and the peanut crunch, which was pretty much chocolate covered peanut brittle. It was delicious. Yelp check in also got us a free truffle, so we opted for the cappuccino truffle, and is was so yummy, just the right balance of coffee flavor and sweetness with that perfect chocolate shell. I am reviewing the location in Oxbow Public Market. My wife and I just spent a weekend in Napa and while at Oxbow we stopped by for some chocolates. We decided to do a six piece box. We both tried the cappuccino and dark caramels. The cappuccino had nice chocolate flavor and good coffee flavor but not overwhelming. The Dark Caramels were my favorite of the three I tried this visit. Dark chocolate gave a nice bitter note to the caramel. The reason I am giving 4/5 stars is once in a while you will find a flavor that doesn't match up to the rest. The Belmont sounded like it would be my favorite. Described as "vanilla cream rolled in roasted almonds and chocolate". The outside was great! The inside disappointed me. It was one note. Overall we will definitely come back when in the area. I LOVE your dark chocolate. It's why I'm giving you four stars. That said...WHAT have you done to the Caramel Corn? You used to have REAL dark chocolate on caramel corn. It was the bomb. There is no longer any "real" chocolate to be found. It's as if you've cooked the chocolate on to the corn or some other crazy thing. You have ruined one of my favorite snacks. Service was fine enough as I only dropped in for the chocolates (they have a full ice cream bar which seems popular). The chocolates are high dollar for what they are. I got a premade box and a few of the "fresh" ones from the counter. Both were lackluster; the flavor of the chocolate itself was nearly absent in all but their chocolate wine ganaches. The lemon bonbons tasted like flavorless paste. And upon closer inspection of the ingredients used, it's no wonder: lots of cheap fillers and syrups. My friend Parcia and I stumbled across this place while we were on a weekend adventure to napa Valley. There was a yelp check in offer for a free truffle. They had the most friendly service and they actually had a giant selection of choclate to choose from. I got my free truffle and a few other chocolates to snack on. I took a bite and the choclates were packed with flavor and just made me supe happy. This is just the best place and im so happy to have found it. I do not like these chocolate truffles. We purchased a variety of truffles/bonbons from the glass case like mint, port, winter cabernet, almondi sabori, chocolate velvet, etc. They were disappointing in texture. The fillings or ganache that you expect to be rich and creamy... they were sandy and not smooth. I think the only redeeming bonbon was the almondi sabori. It had a nice toffee flavor. It was better than the other bonbons because it had a crunchy filling. The truffles that were supposed to be dark (my favorite) were meh. The couverture chocolate they used did not have that nice dark chocolate flavor and snap you expect from high quality bonbons. read more

Its location in the Oxbow makes it a convenient stop while exploring the market. They have some interesting items - lots of wine infused candy (of course) and even beer brittle! They do have samples to try like their fudge sauces, chocolate sauces, and some candy samples. I really enjoy their chocolate sauces like their port chocolate sauce. My friend did buy a box of 6 chocolates for us to sample - we had the raspberry truffle and the coconut truffle, but nothing to write home about compared to other chocolate shops in the Bay Area. I did really like their mango/raspberry squares - they were like jelly candy covered in sugar. It was like eating jellied dried mango covered with sugar, same with the raspberry. Super tasty and would recommend trying some of those. Also their dark chocolate honeycomb is really good too - sweet and crunchy inside paired perfectly with the bitterness of dark chocolate. I'll have to check out their DT Napa location, since I've read it has a bigger store and there's even an ice cream shop inside. While I enjoyed tasting their chocolate sauces, I couldn't justify buying one whole bottle for myself knowing it wouldn't get a lot of use, especially when the bottles are a bit expensive (their 5 oz bottle is $10). I think having them on a sundae would be great though... Don't get me wrong. It's a great chocolate shop to check out while at Oxbow... but it doesn't quite compare to other chocolatiers in the Bay Area as far as price and flavors go. It gets stars for their convenient location, samples, and those fruity sugared squares (funny how the one candy i enjoyed from them was NOT chocolate... and I love chocolate!). read more

I got to try their chocolate Cabernet sauce w/ some Three Twins ice cream-I thought the sauce was just ok. I liked and got their Firey Beer Brittle for $9.95. You can try it at the counter - just ask. They also have regular Beer Brittle and a Cabernet Brittle. Credit cards taken. The bag they gave me fell apart by the time I got to the car so be careful. We visited the shop whole visiting Napa! It was lovely to try all the samples. The chocolates looked amazing! We were drawn to the wine chocolate syrups and the brittle! We fell in love with the lime chili peanut brittle and bought 3! Very yummy! I would recommend the brittle! We have talked about checking out the bigger shop a few blocks down! After spending the afternoon at Oxbow Public Market and the surrounding areas, I decided to end the day with a few pieces of chocolate for later that night after our drive back to San Jose. I picked about 6 pieces from their display cases. While I don't consider myself the chocolate expert, I have been to many good chocolatiers in my life (Teuscher and Cocoabella are at the top of my list, but I'm definitely not too good for Sees. Stay away from Godiva though). In short, the chocolate here was a little too sweet and didn't have that "oomph" factor. It wasn't horrible, but just didn't have enough to make me want to come back and try other things. With Three Twins Ice Cream and Ca Momi in the same shopping area, I'd much rather go to those places first for my sweet tooth craving. read more

This is yet another store in the Oxbow Market in Napa They have a selection of hand made candy. They usually have one type of candy that is being handed out has samples. The most amazing section is chocolate sauce tasting, most of them have alcohol in them: Dark Chocolate Merlot Fudge, Dark Belgian Chocolate Fudge, Italian Cherry Chocolate Sauce with Merlot and Smooth Caramel Brandy sauce and you can taste all of them. Tried to find something left from my childhood when this was Partrick's Candy. That has been swept away. Now, you will find pretentious chocolate and service. The chocolate is not very good either with very odd choices and combinations. There is better chocolate choices found at Costco during the holidays. It was a sad visit. They have a variety of different truffles and wrapped bars as well. I was particularly interested in trying the Peruvian chocolate - as Ninja is from Peru. I did a proper sampling - several truffles from the case plus a sampler of their 65% cacao bars from different countries.. Overall, they're pricy & just okay. Not bad...but not Nuubia. read more

Here's my problem with Anette's: the chocolate itself is really quite good but the fillings leave a lot to be desired. We chose five different chocolates ($1.40 each) and, based on the names alone, expected great things. The Mauna Kea had a super-chewy caramel base and a large macadamia nut covered with milk chocolate and sea salt. There was way too much sea salt and the caramel and macadamia just didn't jive well together. The Peanut Butter Drop was just awful; how do you ruin peanut butter and chocolate?! I have no idea where they got that peanut butter filling but I wish Anette could get her hands on a jar of Jif- anything would be better than what she's putting in there now. The hazelnut offering had teeny-tiny pieces of chopped hazelnut and maybe chopped crisped rice (?); it was too crunchy and not at all hazelnutty. The best piece was dark and milk chocolate blended together; like I said, the chocolate on its own is good, very creamy and rich...I would just stick with that. read more

They have two locations that we know of. 1. oxbow market (smaller outlet) 2. main location (1321 First Street, Napa, CA 94559) We drove to Napa few weeks ago just for Anette's. However it was very disappointing for us. Last year we stayed at the new hotel across street from Anette's. We bought some truffles and they were delicious. However this time we wanted the ultimate experience of getting the best hot chocolate and we thought who could do it better than Anette's. Well that is not the case the girl who made the chocolate for us really skimped on the chocolate -- I had to ask her to put more choco in it. Even then it was not enough. She kept skimping. It needed sugar to make it sweet. Go to any good hot chocolate place and you will know the diff. In fact we have two places so far that we like and I will get those reviews in soon. Now their other chocolate is pretty good and we bought truffles and they were very good. We also bought the chocolate syrup and its awesome on desserts specially vanila ice cream -- But their hot choco sucks so avoid it.
