Here's my problem with Anette's: the chocolate itself is really quite good but the fillings leave a lot to be desired. We chose five different chocolates ($1.40 each) and, based on the names alone, expected great things. The Mauna Kea had a super-chewy caramel base and a large macadamia nut covered with milk chocolate and sea salt. There was way too much sea salt and the caramel and macadamia just didn't jive well together. The Peanut Butter Drop was just awful; how do you ruin peanut butter and chocolate?! I have no idea where they got that peanut butter filling but I wish Anette could get her hands on a jar of Jif- anything would be better than what she's putting in there now. The hazelnut offering had teeny-tiny pieces of chopped hazelnut and maybe chopped crisped rice (?); it was too crunchy and not at all hazelnutty. The best piece was dark and milk chocolate blended together; like I said, the chocolate on its own is good, very creamy and rich...I would just stick with that. read more

They have two locations that we know of. 1. oxbow market (smaller outlet) 2. main location (1321 First Street, Napa, CA 94559) We drove to Napa few weeks ago just for Anette's. However it was very disappointing for us. Last year we stayed at the new hotel across street from Anette's. We bought some truffles and they were delicious. However this time we wanted the ultimate experience of getting the best hot chocolate and we thought who could do it better than Anette's. Well that is not the case the girl who made the chocolate for us really skimped on the chocolate -- I had to ask her to put more choco in it. Even then it was not enough. She kept skimping. It needed sugar to make it sweet. Go to any good hot chocolate place and you will know the diff. In fact we have two places so far that we like and I will get those reviews in soon. Now their other chocolate is pretty good and we bought truffles and they were very good. We also bought the chocolate syrup and its awesome on desserts specially vanila ice cream -- But their hot choco sucks so avoid it. Expensive nice chocolate place. they have chocolates/truffles that you buy by the unit. it's 1.25 each. they have really nice ones. we tried a few and really liked them. they have lots of chocolate infused sauces and syrups. these look yummy but they are very very sweet, you can't take more then a drop and it's too overwhelming. too bad. they don't have gelato in Oxbow but they do a few blocks away from there. nothing special. read more

This was an awesome place to go for a chocolate fanatic. I went a couple weekends ago and after sampling their liquors and fudges numerous times, settled on their Belgium chocolate liquor. For Thanksgiving, I tried it with my cheesecake, and it was the perfect mix of chocolate and cheesecake. Do try their brittles! They had a Chili Lime Tequila Tortilla Brittle, and the flavor of the salty tortilla chips and smokiness of the peppers was so unique. The staff there is very friendly, and you can sample nearly everything in their store. read more

Review refers to online store purchase... Husband received Anette's Chocolates from a vendor for Christmas and it was so delicious that I insisted he order some for Valentines. It arrived quickly, packaged perfectly. We had the truffles variety box and it was fabulous - with some very unique flavors (wine infused, etc.). They were fresh, delicious, and the perfect consistency. At Christmas, we had a nuts / chews mix and they were equally high quality and diverse in flavor options. Will be ordering again! read more

aaaaaah - this is a little chocolatier inside the Oxbow Public Market. For me, personally, they are probably more like 3-stars. However, my reality is: I don't care much for chocolate and, in particular, chocolate candies unless they are from See's because See's is what I grew up on. The chocolate's here are skillfully crafted and beautifully displayed, albeit quite expensive for what they are. A group of gals did a chocolate tasting today and we learned so much about the art of tasting chocolate. Anette herself presented cocao nibs and tools used to make chocolate that were educational..Her enthusiasm for her chocolates was amazing. We also tasted lime chocolate brittle and it was amazing.. I like Anette's but they are a bit pricey for me. One small piece of chocolate is almost $2 (something like $1.5 or $1.75 per item). For something smaller than my thumb, that is excessive. I get by weight or multiple pieces but I've had gourmet chocolates that weren't that high. I would rate them much better if their pricing was not so outrageous! read more

everything i tried was De-Lic-iouS!!!! i had a cranberry/pistachio turtle. the bf had a chili truffle (not too spicy)..... it was a tad pricey...but isnt almost everything when you are on vacation!?!?! the counter girl (i didnt catch her name) but we were there about 2:30p sat may 26th.....so whomever was working was asweetheart! very polite and patient as we labored over our final selections...... bought mom a chardonnay truffle & a mimosa truffle- she never did tell mii how they were :/ oh well! i'll go back if i'm around Napa again! read more

Stopped in the Oxbow Public Market after eating at Gotts and noticed the little chocolate counter. The smell of chocolate filled the air so I of course had to buy something. Everything was extremely fresh and tasted like a slice of heaven or at least what I would assume heaven tastes like. The first bite you take will send you into a trance with its perfection and unique combinations. I can't remember the last time I tried chocolate candies that tasted so good. It is pricey but worth every penny. read more

I love love love this place! Delicious artisan chocolate and great gift packaging! The ambiance is relaxing and very fitting for a chocolate shop. It's pricey but so worth it for what you get, I mean it's hand made artisanal chocolate!!!! The customer service is great! A charming young lady I think named Beth helped me find the perfect chocolate to go with the wine I served at my dinner party! The guests loved it!! The Cab truffles are amazing! We went in to buy ice cream in this place and it is our first time. The owner was there talking to a bunch of other customers and serving them. We heard those customers called her by name, Anette. We got excited that we get to see and perhaps meet the chef behind these chocolates. The staff were friendly and helpful however the owner were snobbish and arrogant. We bought a total of four ice cream. My son dropped some ice cream on the floor and I happened to step on it. He cleaned the floor and I wiped my shoe, however there were some left over under my shoe that happened to spread around as I walked. I saw the owner cleaning it up and all the way to our table without saying hi or giving an eye contact. The whole time we were there she was walking around without saying hi or checking if we liked her ice cream or not. We stepped out of the store and I could see her talking to her staff and pointing on the floor and the table where we sat. My thoughts were that she was complaining to her staff about the ice cream on the floor incident. Poor customer service from the owner herself. read more

Delicious chocolates. Purchased several sets for Christmas gifts. Not the best chocolate I've ever had but very nice.

Anette's was absolutely amazing! I had their winter Cabernet truffle and instantly fell in love. Along with their delicious chocolates, Anette's also serves some incredible homemade ice cream. I had the mint truffle and had to go back the next day for another scoop( I feel so guilty lol)! Not only were the treats delicious, but the service was incredible. I was helped by a super nice young man with an infectious smile, amazing eyes, and really good hair. His service was fast and extremely curtious. Overall Anette's is a MUST see If you're in Napa! 10/10! Will definitley be coming back. read more

Overrated and overpriced like most of Oxbow itself but I wanted to leave a review of Anette's since it was by far the worst of any of the other eateries we tried, the others being the Cheese and Wine Merchant and Hog Island Oyster Bar. First off, let's get this out of the way, the girl working at Annette's on the evening of September 17th was rude to many of the people in line ahead of us which is always 'interesting' if you are a person who works in a customer service, I don't worry about that to much but that's just some FYI for you. Most importantly we paid $8 for two small-ish pieces of chocolate to serve as a post meal treat after eating oysters and consuming some meats and cheeses. The chocolate was a total disappointment, it tasted old, cheap and seemed like it had been sitting around for months. It is almost like Anette decided to be cheap and bought some candy that didn't sell at real candy shops around the valley. She must have got them for 75% and then marked them up to full price while passing them off as 'gourmet'...that's what the quality was like in my opinion. read more

while roaming around downtown Napa i spotted this chocolate shop. the store had an old fashioned type feel to it and the girls behind the counter were really sweet and approachable. i got the english toffee cookie(?) and the doodlesnicker cookie(?). the question marks are because they tasted and felt like cookies but they were more round and thick. around the blog world i've seen similar things called "dough balls." whether a cookie or a dough ball, they satisfied my sweet tooth. read more
