I've been going to Andy at Andy's Barber Shop for about 10 years now and have never been disappointed. I've definitely changed my hairstyle over the years but he's always been able to keep up with the times. I bring my son here too, although he likes to keep his hair longer so it's only for special occasions. The haircuts are priced very fair as well. Andy and the team are extremely friendly and highly respected business in the heart of Vienna. Don't know where I would go if Andy's wasn't still up and running. When everything shut down, I didn't get my haircut for at least 2 months and it was terrible. As soon as they opened back up I was in there immediately. They've had to adapt to the times and now have an easy to use scheduling system online that to book a slot for your hair appointment which has been pretty cool too! I have had haircuts from several of the barbers, and have considered the quality of the cuts satisfactory and the fees standard for the area. However, I have a concern about something that may annoy or even offend some of their customers. All of the barbers appear to have Vietnamese heritage. They are all totally fluent in English. But it is fairly common for some of them to engage in conversations entirely in their native language, including laughing, etc. I suspect this is all innocent back and forth among them, but I think it is fair to say that many Americans would consider it a bit rude. The haircut is a miss most of the time when moving to a different area and have to try out multiple places before finding one hair stylist that works. The first time, a lady helped me and she did a great job with my beard--so good that I gave her a very generous tip and hoped to receive the same, or even better, treatment the second time. Unfortunately, the second time I was with Thung (or Trung), the guy who works at the corner station facing the door, and he completely ruined my beard. I don't understand the "great reviews" of this place. It's good if you want a VERY FAST (like 5 minute) haircut and you want the standard haircut that they give to everyone. I have always gone directly to Andy himself and he is so preoccupied with being on the phone that he doesn't pay any attention to what you need for your actual haircut. This, paired with the "cash only" thing really makes it trivial to me as to why so many five star reviews. Andy's is a great and reasonably priced barber in Vienna. I have been getting my hair cut by Qui for over a year and the cuts have always been consistent. I also can set a clock by how long each haircut takes, 20min in and out every time. Great when trying to get a haircut on a weekday between meetings. $20 is also a great price for a quality cut. You can definitely do walk-in but they also offer an easy appointment system once you find a barber you like. Also is a great place to take your kids for a quick haircut. read more

Their cash only policy is a bit weird in 2023; and my first interaction in the shop I was met with with "how come you're late?" for my appointment although nobody else was in queue for a cut I've got thick skin and didn't mind being former military; the cut wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. Updated review as of March 2021 - This continues to be the best barber shop in the Washington, DC metro area. I've tried about a dozen over the past 20 years and Andy's Barber Shop is simply the best. The shop has top notch barbers, great cleanliness, and a family-friendly atmosphere. Customers include retired folks, parents, young professionals, teenagers, and kids. During the COVID pandemic, they increased the level of cleaning and added enough social distancing and plexiglass to make you feel safe and comfortable. Their new scheduling app is also easy to use to book or change appointments. Best of all, Andy, Hung, Qui, and the other barbers are nice, respectful, and quality individuals. We just went there for a haircut. The guy who cut my sons hair was on his phone half the time. He cut half of my sons eyebrow and did not tell us. We realized it when we got home. I called back and the they refused to connect to owner/manager and hung up on me. The second time they said "what do you want". The third time they did not answer the voicemail. Stay away! Been coming to this great place for over 15 years. Absolutely the best spot for an affordable and consistent haircut. Definitely worth more than they charge. Great for kids too, even my wife was happy with my daughter's haircut. During COVID this place completely transformed. It is the cleanest most aware barber shop you could imagine. Dividers between the stalls, outdoor waiting areas, provide disposable gloves and masks, very thorough cleaning between cuts of tools and seats, single use aprons and more. I continue to be impressed by how well this business is run. Extremely friendly but also know when im in the mood for a quiet cut. Andy's Barber Shop is a great place to get a haircut. You walk in and take a numbered ticket and wait to be called on. The staff members are respectful and have do an amazing job cutting my hair. I have never been disappointed with how my hair is cut here. I can tell that the barbers take their time and make sure every detail of one's hair is in tip-top shape. I am definitely grateful for their precision. The ending is great as they use a straight edge razor blade to cut and shape the hair line of the back of your head. A warm damp towel is then used to clean your face, head, and neck; a great way to end the hair cut as the feeling is soothing. Additionally, I find the prices to be reasonable for the area ($15); but make sure you have cash because debit/credit cards are not accepted here. The atmosphere is casual like any barber shop. Sports will play on the television sets when games are on. If you have small children, there is a play area in the middle of the shop to keep them occupied. Overall, the business is kept clean, the barbers are nice, and the haircuts are on point. read more

Wie has especially taken care of me for a long time, and I appreciate the fact that he will always "squeeze me in" even when the place is super busy. I used to shell out 25 to 35 bucks for a men's cut because I thought I was paying for the stylist's skills. After all these years going to countless studios and stylists I was still left unsatisfied. I thought I had to find somewhere even more expensive in order to get what I needed.. but the thought of paying more for a men's cut just doesn't fit my bill. So after much searching I came across Andy's barbershop and decided to take my chances with a lower price range since all the reviews sounded honest and legit. And man am I glad I took this leap of faith. The place upon entry is unpretentious, the barbers aren't hipsters and the clientele seemed to be normal Joe shmoes so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. As I sat there observing I was told to wait for a man named Hung. I noticed how they all worked efficiently with speed and precision but still took the time to chat up their customers in the seat and the ones waiting. Customers were coming in and out at a good pace and before I knew it, it was my turn to take a seat. I showed hung a series of pictures relating to the style I wanted and he went to work. He probably spent twice as much time on me than a normal cut and thats bc the style I asked for was more time consuming than most the other cuts being given. The fact he didn't rush my cut says a lot and I truly appreciated that. Once the cut was done and styled and I saw the finish product I knew I would be coming back. I normally always come back if it's close to what I want but this time was different than other salons I've been to, I didn't leave Andys barbershop feeling like the cut couldve been a little better, I left knowing that I had found a gem in the rough. Andy's Barber Shop has been my go to place for over 10 years. Here are the ingredients I look for in a barber. First, I want someone with skills. I get my haircut every 2 to 3 weeks so I appreciate their attention to detail. They know your name and remember your cut. Important because I don't want to have to explain my hair cut every time I go (unless I want to try something different). And lastly, I want a place that is affordable. It's a great group of barbers. Try a few different ones until you find your guy or girl. Saturdays can get pretty busy. Parking can be a little tough but Andy hired a parking valet! A barber shop with a valet parker. I went there with my 2 sons for a haircut. One of my sons barber was very distracted and he was on his phone most of the time. When he was looking away, he shaved a decent amount of my older sons eyebrow. He didn't tell my son and my son just noticed. He is now very self conscious,this is not acceptable. read more
