Not what I expected, but for $35 it was a bit on the pricier side and if I had known it was cash only I would have been more prepared. There's an ATM, however for people who don't use ATMs (me) it doesn't really help. The $35 includes a shampoo along with a wash after the cut. They take appointments but also walk ins. I believe I will skip out the next time I need a haircut. While the haircut was alright, it's just inconvenient with the whole cash situation. So I walk in to get my hair fixed just root bleach and maybe toner to get to the silver look. In SC my lady charges me about 120 dollars for that specially cause is just root work. These people have the audacity to to want to charge me 300 dollars almost to just bleach my maybe 5 inches of root and throw robber on it under the give that they don't want to damage my hair? My wife had her hair re-colored by Johnny today. Oh, that color was SO HOT! AND the price was very reasonable, comparing to a lot of the color bars out there (I know a few charging $100 per hour, imagine if you have long thick hair like my wife, easily a few Benjamins). Btw, my wife is super picky, and she was actually very happy with the final look. I have to say Johnny is very good at what he does, he previously bleached my hair as well, I did platinum blond and silver. My hair was still pretty healthy after two bleaches. Pretty good salon -- expensive because of the location in Tysons Corner, but still pretty reasonable prices (for men at least) It helps if you can speak some Chinese, since the entire staff is Chinese, but you'll still be treated well otherwise. They have most of the hair options you'll want done -- color, perms, etc. Given how expensive the place is...the shop could use some renovations at the very least to make it look like it belongs in Tysons. read more

I've never stuck with one particular hairstylist or salon in the DMV area, but I'll definitely be coming back to get cuts from Ajun. She is great with both long and short cuts; one of my friends comes here to get her hair trimmed often because she has a bob cut, and it looked so on point that I had to check out this place for myself. Haircuts here are priced competitively - mine was $35 shampoo/cut/style excluding tips. Only con? It's cash only (there is a BoA right across from the salon though). Don't go if you want to do ombré. I went to have a haircut and get ombré. I showed Jonny four images with the both straight and curly hair styles with ombré and repetitively showed him the first pic as an example to dye my hair. My hair ended up looking like pics 2-4. I had to go back and have him dye my hair back to its original color. Because of the damage to the hair I won't be able to color my hair for a long time. Jonny insist he did what he was asked to and he didn't screw up. He says the reason why I think it's different is because people see things differently and it's never going to be the same as what's in the pics. Of course I know it's not going to be the same, as I told him. I also told him although it's not going to be 100% the same, it has to be at least reasonably close, that's the point of showing him the pics. If everything is subjective how do people know who is good who is not? There has to be some standards! Anybody can tell that he failed the coloring because the color and the style are both too far from what I expected. I told him I'm fine with the haircut but he should refund the coloring because what did is totally different from what I expected, but he refused. He refunded my tip but refused to refund the coloring. I don't think he is good at ombré style and he probably has a credibility issue. Because if he screws up, he is going to tell you it's because you and him see things differently! You are not getting your money back for what he does after you spend extra time fixing what he did wrong. The real reason that I posted a bad review here is not that he wasn't able to do it well, rather that he keeps saying the difference is solely because different see it differently. And his skills have nothing to do with it! That's a credibility issue. read more

I made an appointment and arrived on time, but they kept me waiting for 30 min and told me no stylist available which made it a horrible experience. Even worse, I saw one stylist had a break, but he told others that he was no interest to do women's cut and apparently, they are only interested in hair dye, hair straightening, and those much more expensive services. Excited to find a hair salon close to home that specialized in asian hair. I have had a few bad hair cut experiences lately and was so happy to find this place thanks to Yelp reviews! All I wanted was a straight blunt cut with about 3 inches off of my length. Lin did a great job! This is a no frills salon, can get fairly loud, but I was in and out of the hair cut chair in 30 minutes. The reason I am deducting 1 star is because even though I had a Saturday appointment for 3:00PM, I was not seen until 3:45PM which made me late for my evening plans. The receptionist was very nice and apologetic, however, I noticed a few regulars come in after me and were seen before me. It was mostly men and they didn't seem to have an appointment based on the interaction I witnessed between them and the stylist. The receptionist advised me to try to come in on weekdays as they are less busy and can adhere to appointment times better. I will try this next time! My haircut was affordable at only $35 and I have long hair. Heads up that they only accept cash but there is an ATM right outside of their door. Update: I have been back a few times now and have been seeing Ajun. She is meticulous and spends extra time to ensure my blunt cut is perfectly straight. You can't go wrong with her! read more

Bad altitude as soon as I walk in to the door, the lady with colored hair is angry and mad for no reason. Not recommended.

I had a really really bad experience at this salon today. I gat a hair cut from the lady in the middle of the room, the one facing the wall. At the end of the hair cut, my front hair looks quite unnatural, so I asked her to fix it. Instead of using scissor, she used a razor that and got rid of my front hair! She said the reason my front hair looks weird is because it has too much hair?! I was astonished by the way she fix this and I was speechless at the moment. If I need someone to cut my hair using a razor, I would have do it myself, not to pay someone to do it! Worst experience ever! I got my hair cut from the others and they are quite professional and good at their jobs. But this time, I was shocked. Summer (July 1st - Aug 31st) is a relatively calm period to come here to get your hair cut as most students are out for vacations. read more

This is now my go-to place to get my hair done! I used to go to Japanese salons in New York city, because I couldn't find any good ones around the DMV area. Salon Lullaby is now the only place I'd revisit after living in the region for three years! It's a small Asian salon located in an office complex near Tysons Corner Mall, owned by four young Asian hair designers. I always look for Johnny, and it's recommended to call ahead for reservations. Ordinary salons don't do Asian hair too well, but not all Asian salons are good as well. I've tried Koreans, Cantonese, and Taiwanese around here, Salon Lullaby does by far the best job out of all. Overall, I would recommend Salon Lullaby to all those Asians out there, whose tired of traveling to New York just to get their hair done!!! Price here is also reasonable :-) read more

I just got my hair color done by Johnny, he took very good care of my hair and very patient. I got long hair and it took 6 hours for my hair done .. Super long time but worth it. My hair was not as damage as I thought after bleaching 3 times and then colored, it's still pretty good and shiny. This is my 2nd times here, the first time I did haircut with Johnny also and it was great. If you are looking for good salon with the right price, this place would be the answer. I made my first two appointments with Johnny, as recommended by my coworker, and both times I've been content with the results. He is very diligent in cutting my hair. He pays attention to how I want my hair done and spends time getting the layers & bangs to my liking while offering helpful suggestions. Recently, I decided to walk in without making any appointment bc my hair was getting too long. I believe the guy who did my hair was named Reese (?). Although he didn't speak English, the other guy Jacky was able to translate for me. Despite the barrier, I was satisfied with my cut as well as the service. I used to go to Rockville's Beautiful Life Salon with no particular favorite as my hair stylist. This is a great alternative if you are seeking a new Asian hair salon. It's close to Tysons Corner Mall so it's never really out of your way :). Salon Lullaby offers professional service at reasonable pricing. For my long hair, I paid $30 + 5 for tips (wash/cut/blow dry). I have low hair maintenance so I prefer this place over really expensive hair salons. read more

So, similar to the other reviewers here, I was looking for an alternative to Beautiful Life Salon in Rockville. I am Chinese and my hair is thick and honestly, I don't trust non-Asians to do my hair. When I went to an American hair salon once, they were baffled by my hair and didn't know what to do with it since I had so much and it was so thick. The salon is rather small but intimate and clean. English is limited to only some of the hairdressers, so I had to explain what I wanted in broken Mandarin--but my hairdresser was very diligent and careful with my hair and he always asked lots of questions to make sure that he was cutting it how I wanted it. Also, his partner (I think Johnny) was always willing to translate if I wanted to explain it in English. All of the hairdressers are extremely courteous, polite, and friendly. I really enjoyed my experience there--wholly satisfied. I am tempted also to say that they are slightly cheaper than Beautiful Life (I'm not sure since it has been a while since I've gotten my hair cut at Beautiful Life). My cut was around $35 (for a female cut - long hair) which is pretty good considering how long he spent on my hair. I would definitely come back. read more

I came in to get a haircut. I was pretty nervous about goin to a new place. I used to go to a korean place. They do a great job but they dont speak english so it's hard to communicate. The people here speak fluent mandarin and canto. I got ryan as my hair dresser. He took awhile cutting hair. I asked for little layer and thats what i got. Im very satisfied with what i got. I called and made an appointment at 15:20. Because it was my first time visiting there, it took me longer than I thought. I arrived at 15:25. And the guy (I should have asked his name and posted here) who made appointment for me canceled mine and complained I was late for 20 minutes. So ridiculous. And he told me to wait for another 40 mins because there was a lady came just now and she would have the hair cut before me. Ok, that's fine. Then my co-worker told me about Salon Lullaby when I needed a fix-up after a bad haircut from somewhere else, and I immediately fell in love with it. Jacky did my hair for the first time and the response I got from my husband after going home with the haircut is that I looked 10 years younger. Johny is the other partner and he is good too.
