The Andruss Motel is a charmsplosion! It is borderline unreal the amount of coziness, warmth, welcome, and just overall five-star "aaaaah" you feel when you stay here. The Halloween decorations at the office were adorably festive and Steve (who I unfortunately didn't meet in person but spoke with on the phone) is a funny, kind, patient guy. Their dog policy is very generous and my dog loved having a well-maintained grassy area for his private business. The area itself is just stunning and I regretted not booking more than one night but the one night we did stay was peaceful and quiet. My dog and I felt very safe. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable and we hope to make the Andruss our regular stop on any 395 road trips! read more

Layout of the grounds is intimate. The entrance wraps around, easy in and out access. Walking into our room, smelled fresh. The room: plenty of usb and charging outlets, direct tv, WiFi worked well, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, clean bathroom. The grounds: nostalgic (felt like it was out of the movies), there is a unique lobby filled with board games, small store, outdoor grounds had a fish cleaning station, horse shoe, disc basket, swingset, cornhole, swimming pool, bbq grills, fire pits, an entertainment stage, icebox. Check in and out was a breeze. Walking distance of everything if anything. The night we stayed, he had an entertainer play music. We were stuck and forced to stay the night in town, it turned out to be an amazing experience because of this Motel. This was THE BEST Motel I've ever been to. The owner was such an amazing guy and I can't wait to go back, play some guitar by the pool and throw some horse shoes in the back. Quaint and adorable. What a comfy, quiet and peaceful place to stay. It's clean and has a very peaceful ambiance and setting. The room was perfect and the bed was soft, as were the linens. We fell in love with this motel. I've driven past this motel hundreds of times over the years but never stopped. This time it was mandatory we did. My family and (plus our dog) I pulled right up to our room. Check in was nice and easy. Got everyone some burgers next door at Walker Burger then my wife and I decided to crack pen some cold ones and play some horseshoes to kick off our lil Mother's Day adventure. Place is quiet and clean. No complaints at all. Got a friendly greeting and "happy Mother's Day" shout from the owner as we pulled out the next morning on our way to Bodie then to Mammoth. Great location. Very clean and obviously renovated. Big group freezer for fish. Just off the walker river. I'm glad I was too tired to drive to Minden. This is a way better place in a better location for a better price. Great find. Steve, the new owner was great. Needed a place to stay for a 2-day getaway during 4th of July week. Normally we stay in Bridgeport, but decided to stay on this end of 395. So glad we did, the Andruss is much nicer than anywhere I have stayed along 395. The last time I stayed at this property I was just a kid, now I was back with my small kids. The property is well maintained, beautiful grounds and well cared for. The pool area is nice and clean. The BBQs work great and the fish cleaning station has everything you could possibly need to care for your catch, including a freezer to store them. The rooms were spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was hot. The owner makes you feel like you are right at home. This will be my new home away from home when visiting the Eastern Sierras! And an added bonus, next door to Walker Burger! read more

This place is a gem! The old owners were great and we just met the new owner Steven today, he's just as charming as this motel! Husband comes for the fishing, while we relax by the pool and spend our evenings together playing horseshoes and BBQ-ing. The motel supplies all you need to through some meat or hopefully fish on the grill. Keep your fresh catch on ice in their freezer, or select one of their units with a kitchen. Best motel there is here! Bring the kiddos and play, or leave the kiddos and relax, same options for fido! We love it here and the new owner will keep us coming back in the future. Checked into room 13 and the unit was full of flies! The room smelled like manure. Tv did not work. My husband and I left after 2 hours. No use I'm sure of complaining as all the rooms have a fly problem. Spent an hour smacking flies with the hand towel from the bathroom. At least we're from Gardnerville so we just went home. We booked through hotels.com so we did not get a refund. Update Hotel.com notified owner of said problem. He doesn't want to take responsibility for the fly problem or the sewage smell. I am going to go ahead and notify the health department on this issue. I believe nobody should have to stay in a room that has a multiple fly problem in a sewage smell. He knew about the fly problem and he knew about the TV not working but when you walk in the room how can you miss the sewage smell? It's not about the Price of the room as I got a great deal from hotel.com it's the principal. The health department needs to be notified! read more

Two years later and everything is still just as good! I've never stayed in a cleaner place and the bed and bedding are really comfortable. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, the decor is classic without feeling old, and the shower literally couldn't be cleaner. I love this little motel! My family and I have stayed here the past couple years before we head out for our backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierra. We love it here. The motel is like something from the 60's. It's super cute with perfect little rooms for a quick stay in Walker, CA or if you are visiting anywhere nearby. The current owner, Steve, is such a nice guy and very accommodating. He is really making some nice, more modern improvements to the motel, but it is still great. The rooms are clean and have the amenities that everyone likes in a room. I would love some newer mattresses and bedding, but other than that, I have no complaints. I will definitely be back again next year and would recommend this motel to anyone. And, another perk to this motel...Walker Burger, a legend in this part of the State, is right next door. My review is based on special circumstances so, while the Andruss Motel is a 5 star for me, it may not be fancy enough for others. The reasons I loved our stay there are these: *VERY dog friendly. He charged us a very small amount, like $10 a day or something, for our dogs. There were small garbage receptacles in several places outside which made it convenient for disposing doggie bags. They have a nice lawn area all along the center divide of the motel for picky dogs. *Very clean and tidy. *The bed was quite comfortable although it seemed a little small but maybe that's because it was a queen size. *They were open in winter at Christmas which is hard to find in that area. *Although the room was a little chilly from the air-conditioner vents that allowed cold air in from outside, once we covered the air conditioner face with one of our dog blankets the room heated right up. When I told the owner, Steve, about it later he was very interested in my suggestion on how to fix that cheaply and easily to save on heating costs and to keep his guests more comfortable. He said this was the first winter they were open and he appreciated the input. A lot of businesses might get defensive or ignore your input but he seemed genuinely appreciative. *The owner, Steve, is very friendly, very helpful. He was going away for Christmas, as most of us do, but gave me his cell phone number in the event we had any questions or issues. He also walked me down to our room, which was very kind of him. *Reasonable and affordable, especially considering the room had a microwave, stove and refrigerator. *Free WiFi, if you are so inclined, and since reception for cell phones can be iffy in that area, it's nice to be able to use their WiFi if you need it. *We had a white Christmas!!! You can't get that just anywhere! * They have a children's playground and a swimming pool. We may have to go back in the summertime. It's so beautiful in that area in June. Our family has grown bigger with grandchildren and there just wasn't going to be enough room at my daughter's for everybody. It's nice to have a place where us grandparents can chill away from the hustle and bustle of all the kids and yet it's just a short five minute drive to our kids house. read more

We came here for a weekend getaway to visit the Bridgeport hot springs. I was not expecting the motel to be as cute as it is! The motel is small with a nice layout & the rooms are spacious with patio furniture out front. The place has a friendly laid back vibe & there's even a little playground with tetherball. The grounds were beautifully maintained during our summer visit & there is a fire pit & swimming pool. Steve of the Andruss Motel gave us a port in a storm! When the Caldor Fire blew up on August 17th, and burned down Grizzly Flats, we knew we would need a place to go that would accept pets, in case of the evacuation of South Lake Tahoe. (Since my husband is a retired USFS firefighter, we both knew the odds were very good that the Caldor would reach Tahoe at some point). We didn't want to be put in the position of having to evacuate and to separately put our pets in a shelter, since they are all rescues. I called Steve at the Andruss Motel where I have stayed many times in the past with various family members. He graciously assured me that when the time came, he would have a room for us. Every few days, as the fire got closer, I would call and give updates, always worrying that we were causing him to lose business, since he was holding a room for us and our menagerie. Finally, at 6 p.m. on August 29th, the mandatory evacuation order came for Christmas Valley where we live. I called Steve and told him we were on our way. For the two weeks of our evacuation from South Lake Tahoe, we have stayed mostly at the Andruss, where we have been treated like honored guests or even family members. I had always loved the Andruss Motel because of the wonderful shady maples, the knotty pine interiors (where, in the morning, the sunlight is honey streaming in), the lovely pool, the simple and comfortable rooms and the old Timey feeling of being here. It reminds me of the motels in Wyoming in which my family used to stay when I was a child. Now, my husband and I have even more reason to treasure this quiet motel, which became our refuge for such a long while. What a wonderful place to be, when you're in danger of losing your home. The peace and quiet helped us weather the storm of our evacuation; the camaraderie with other evacuees and Steve and his guests/friends sustained us. We hope to consider Steve a dear friend from here on, and to return soon (and often) to the The Andruss Motel. read more

The couple that runs the place ..need to realize that they are running a motel ...went in our room on some bullshit excuse ..went through our stuff . .who cares about your well water and electricity..we rented a room from you and paid for that room ...if I leave a window open get over it....if we smoke outside the room and the smell went inside..once again get over it ..we were outside like we were told to ..then we use the BBQ..and oh no don't do that ...then don't have them outside for people to use...no phone service there ...they won't even let u use there phone they say it's for business.
