For what it is, 1-2 star low cost motor lodge, it ticks the boxes. Clean, accessible and convenient. The bed in my room was wonderful. Very comfortable. Spartan with just the necessities, no coffee in room for example but 200 feet across is a Sinclair minimart with good brew. Definitely would stay here again and recommend. read more

I volunteer as a ranger on some BLM land in Northern Nevada every August since 2000. Every year I can I stay at the Holiday Lodge on my way back. By the time I get there I'm half mad for a hot shower and a night with clean sheets. After this year I will NEVER stay there again. I arrived there this year around 8:30am Labor Day. Usually the lot is full of dust covered cars of people coming home from the Burning Man festival but this year there were just three or four old not dusty clunkers and the rest of the lot was empty. I parked near the office in the street side parking and walked toward the office. As I did so this Minivan pulled in and stopped between me and the office. This mid 50's Indian [the sub continent] fellow got out and got between me and the office door demanding "what do you want?" Jeans, sunglasses, plaid shirt, ballcap. He was really curt about it like he suspected evil or something. I gestured at the motel and said "To get a room" like what do you think I'm doing at a motel? He said he had no rooms and that they were all undergoing renovation. I said that was a shame as I tried to stay there every year on the way home, thanked him and left. There are a few other motels in town so I got in my car and went to the nearest one I could think of, The American Inn. It's lot was empty except for one car. I rang the door bell at the office door and after a while a young Indian man came out to the desk and gestured toward the door which I found was now unlocked. He and I negotiated a price within my budget and as he was getting the paperwork together the Indian guy from the first motel [Holiday Lodge] came into the office lobby from outside. Meeting my eyes he declared that "I run this motel too." He then turned to the younger guy behind the counter and spoke to him in a language I didn't recognize. The young guy answered and then the older guy turned to me and quoted a price higher than what I had just agreed on. I pointed out that my budget wouldn't stretch that far and he lost his cool, majorly. His voice got shrill and loud and he started to claim that I was trying to "rip him off" and stay 36 hours for free. I didn't understand that as you pay in advance at these kind of places and my plan was as always to get up and be on the road by 10am the next morning. It was just very weird and uncomfortable but it got worse when he added "and I have been here six years and I've never seen you before." My trigger is people bullying me and people calling me a liar. This guy was trying both on for size. I leaned down so I could see his face and asked him "Are YOU really calling me a liar? Did you just call ME a liar?" To which he replied the typical yeah, what are you going to do about it. I'm 6'6" and 270 pounds while he was about 5'7" and 155 soaking wet. It would been hilarious if I wasn't so tired and angry. I bid him a hearty FU and got in my car for points south. Checking my records when I got home I found that of the last ten years I'd stayed at the Holiday Lodge every year but 2020 [covid] and 2023 [co-driver wasn't into stopping] and in 2022 I stayed there both on my way up AND on my way back. I don't know what business they're in there at the Holiday Lodge [and the American motel] these days but it's pretty clear to me that it IS NOT renting rooms to weary travelers. Maybe that needs looking at. read more

Would you like to step back in time?!?! The room had a very retro feeling. It would be easy for them to make a couple of the rooms historically correct to 1985. Put in an old TV. Maybe an 80's phone. The room had a fridge and I think it had a microwave and coffeemaker. I took a couple pics with my drone of the Motel and street out front. I'd stay here again. Let's face it. If you're staying in Hawthorne, you're on your way somewhere. Hawthorne is tiny and there aren't a ton of options. If you're headed back after a long dusty week, forget heading to Tonopah and stay here. I discovered prices are about half of what they are in Tonopah. It's not a terribly luxurious hotel but it's clean and the shower power is excellent. Rooms are a mix of vintage-Goodwill chic with odd decor but if you're looking at the walls while you sleep, you aren't doing it right. read more

For a budget friendly room, it had all the amenities a person would need for a comfortable night sleep. The king sized bed was comfy and has several comfortable chairs to lounge on. It has a writing desk, nice sized flat screen TV with lots of channels to choose from. It comes with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. I don't know why it would be rated only 1 star as I have paid more money at other motels that had less to offer. I would certainly stay here again. read more

It's a really good place to stay we paid only 56$ for a room with two kingsize beds, shower, tv, refrigerator, and mikrowave. There were also two chairs and a table. The room was really clean and everything worked. The men at the desk was also a friendly guy. And you can park your car free in front of your room. Booking.com customers, despite what you may read while making online reservation, this motel does not have a prepaid option with Booking.com. The first thing the motel asks for upon arrival is your room payment. Can be unnerving when Booking.com stated that the reservation made was a prepaid, non refundable reservation that required agreement and credit card information for charging through them. I booked motel reservation through Southwest Airlines, which routes to Booking.com. I opened a customer service case with Rapid Rewards mileage to ensure I will receive airline miles. With that disclosure, do, do, do stay at this motel. Jay at the front desk is extremely helpful and polite. Excellent customer service if he is working. I recommend calling ahead if you have any special instructions on 3rd party reservation site. They don't necessarily make it to motel either. The room was very clean. It reminded me, (fondly), of visiting my grandma and her pink tile with white grout bathroom. My Grandma was a skilled homemaker with a clean home, and our visit felt just like that. The grout around tile was clean and white, all surfaces were clean and shiny. The carpet in bedroom is new, so I didn't get that gross feeling, I frequently have when opening a door to a carpeted motel room. (We have hard wood floors at home.) There is a small coffee pot with filters and coffee provided, clean microwave and mini fridge. No breakfast provided. My early rising Husband popped over to Safeway and bought fresh fruit and a couple frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls for the microwave. I am a slow starter and loved my, "room service." Holiday Lodge had a hand soap dispenser by sink in our room. It was very efficient and did not make a soapy mess on sink. The faucet worked great, bringing hot or cold water quickly to the basin. The towels were average motel towels, would have enjoyed something plusher, but they were clean. I liked that they provide lotion in desert climate, I had my own, but I always look for lotion in addition to shampoo and conditioner. The products were efficiently packaged in sanitary individual packets, like a condiments. One knows that someone isn't reusing tiny bottles this way. Decent tv channel selection for my hubby and free wi-if for me. I slept very well on the king sized bed. We were visiting during cold weather and the heater was sufficiently warm, my husband turned it down to sleep. There is a Chinese Restaurant right across the street that has good reviews on Yelp, although we didn't eat there ourselves. Convenient location if you are tired of driving. Locals say to order the garlic chicken. I would definitely stay here again if driving through the area. read more

My husband and I stayed at this motel last night. I would have wrote a review then but we were enjoying this place so much! For the price ($50) it is way better than any budget chain motel we have stayed. The nice gentleman at the office let us look at one of the rooms before we checked in. At first we wanted to pass this one up because we usually don't do hole in the wall places but this one is truly a gem. The room is big. The bed was firm and cozy with sheets you can sleep under. The bathroom is very nice. There was plenty of towels. It is nice and quiet. We didn't hear anything while we got sleep from driving for hours. We love the fact that there is a store across the street with gas. There is practically no traffic so you can leisurely walk across. The owners take pride in their establishment. If we ever come through this town again we will definitely be staying here! read more

Wow! I hit the town of Hawthorne on my way back to Oakland. After a long day of driving with several delays, I realized I wasn't going to make it that night. it was about 10 p.m. when I hit town in the pouring rain. there were about four possible lodging accommodations available. the cheapest one, had a no vacancy sign lit but clearly had lots of rooms available however the office had closed. there is also a casino that might have had rooms but I never got that far as to inquiring. I checked at a couple of typical roadside motels let wanted $85 plus taxes for a room. All I really wanted to do was get some sleep take a shower and hit the road again. I saw the lights were on at the holiday lodge office, so I pulled in and they had a room for $49. I must admit I was a little dubious as to how nice the room might be at that price compared to what I had seen for nearly twice that amount. Boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise. the owner came to the desk and was very friendly and accommodating despite it being about 10:30 at night. I am a little jealous because his dinner seem to smell amazing! I was almost hoping he would offer me a plate! But I digress, you readers probably want to know about the room. The room was immaculate, and quite large. I would estimate the main room to be about 16 feet by 16 feet. It had a wonderful king size bed with a great mattress perfectly clean linens that actually felt to be of a decent thread count. there was a nice flat screen TV, a total of four chairs, one of which was a nice office style chair that would have been comfortable should I had work to do. There were plenty of outlets in places where you would actually want them. The television was resting on a very cool piece of retro furniture while not quite big enough to be called a dresser, it did have a seat and a place to sit should one want to put on makeup or fix their hair and had a nice mirror in place. Like many people, the bathroom can make or break a hotel experience. While the holiday lodge is certainly not the Four Seasons, I must say it was way above average. For one thing the shower had plenty of water pressure and hot water. The floor was very nice ceramic tile, the little ones like 1 inch by 1 inch. Ok, yes there was some pink ceramic tile around the bathtub, but let's just call that "retro" and move on. Just outside of the bath/toilet room was a vanity, saint, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, and the usual supplies. Another nice touch, I felt, was a small portable fan. I have been saving what I consider to be one of the very nicest features of this room for last. The walls are constructed of concrete masonry blocks and I believe the ceiling is even hollow concrete slab. As a result there was very, very little sound transmission from rooms on either side or above. This morning I opened the curtains and noticed a spectacular mountain view, okay maybe not spectacular, but very nice none the less. even the little coffee packets which seem to be filled individually by hand produced a pretty darn good cup of coffee. I really can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this place. I am at the tail end of a 6 week road trip and have paid slightly less for a room once or twice, but usually between $60 - $120.00 per night and I must say this place has to be about the best room for the money of the entire trip. And, oh yeah, I am traveling with a service dog which of course is no problem, but I did see a note in the office that pets are welcome , though I am Not sure if they charge an extra fee for pets are not as they did not charge me. We are off to explore the parks and nature around this area and will almost be tempted to come back and stay here at the end of the night if I were not in a hurry to get back to the Bay Area by this evening. I do not see how the previous reviewers could have given this place anything less than 4 or 5 stars. read more

We were unhappy with the possibly illegal treatment received from this motel. Luckily, life is about choices and karma. Hawthorne is such a small place and being an Army depot to boot, I would have expected something different. I am a traveling companion for a disabled, 3X Vietnam Vet and his certified service dog, Sunshine. Sam, the owner/manager of the place had quoted us a price the week before we traveled for the three of us to stay one night, two rooms. Of the four hotels we checked, he gave the cheapest price for the quick, overnight stop-over we needed between Las Vegas and Reno. On the fly, we decided to take Sam up on his offer to stay at Holiday Lodge. July 13, 2017, I called just south of Hawthorne to check availability and he again, gave us the same rate but added a $5 charge for the service dog. Anyone familiar with Service Dog rules knows this is illegal. Sam invited us to stay somewhere else if we didn't like the rate. "No Problem, just stay somewhere else!" Choice and Karma come in to play here: Hassel over $5 vs. a cheap bed, late in the day with an early-out in the AM. Obviously, we opted for the cheap bed. (The next place on the list already was a rate hike of $10, and if they pulled this same thing for a service dog it would be a rate hike of $15.) I hoped I could live with a SMALL bur under my saddle for one night. My companion blew Sam's treatment off knowing Karma can bite like a scorpion in the bottom of one's bag. Sunshine, was completely unfazed, like most Golden Doodles! After a great night's sleep and a quick shower, we were all ready to go. Except, I still had that small bur...... what to do??? I carry Sunshine's official ID card with me which has these guidelines printed on the back: A service animal is any animal individually trained to perform tasks for a person(s) with a disability. Tasks include but are not limited to guiding the blind, assisting the deaf, pulling a wheelchair, picking up items, alerting to seizures, providing balance, bringing medication and carrying emergency information. A service animal is not a pet. A person with a disability may not be asked for special certification, ID cards for the animal or asked about his/her disability. A person with a disability may not be charged additional fees to be accompanied by a service animal. A person acquainted by a service animal must be admitted & may not be isolated, segregated, or treated less favorably than other patrons. With the approval of Sunshine's owner, I decide to politely return the keys with Sunshine in tow wearing her service gear. I thank him for the decent room and present her ID and offer the back of the card for him to read the guidelines. I explained that he is opening himself up for a possible lawsuit in the future by charging extra for a service dog. Sam takes the keys but insists that he has done nothing illegal because he didn't refuse us a room. He retreats from me and refuses to read the guidelines on the ID card. He also stated that he would charge anyone with an extra person, a baby, or a pet the additional $5 because he has "to clean more". Each of our rooms had two queen beds and towels for two. Does that mean that if my spouse was on this trip, I would be charged $5 for him to stay in my room? What could possibly be the "extra cleaning" needed for a baby? Infants don't even touch the carpet. How can dog feet incur MORE cleaning? Sunshine does her business outside, doesn't shower, makes zero trash, and doesn't use the coffee pot, microwave, or refrigerator! Shame on the proprietor of this Holiday Lodge in Hawthorne, NV. Too bad too, the hotel was clean, comfortable, easy to get in and out, ample parking, nice little bags of ice in the lobby ready for the taking, and a very nice wife and young woman at the counter! Not only was he disrespectful to this disabled, retired Army serviceman, but how will other disabled people with and without service animals, travelers with additional occupants in their rooms, travelers with pets or children be treated? Life is about making choices. Karma...well, we all know what she can be. read more

I stayed here for 6 weeks for a job I was working on in Hawthorne. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and have a good sized "mini"-fridges and microwaves. The furiniture is older and sometimes mis-matched but generally in good condition. Most importantly it was clean and I never saw a single bug the entire stay. Hard to beat this place for the price if your in Hawthorne. It is definitely not a Hilton but it is the best bet of all the other options in Hawthorne that I have stayed at. What a nice surprise this place is! From when I called to reserve a room - based on the reviews I read - (What's your name? Okay, I'll hold it for you!) The gentleman who helped me was beyond friendly, The room was fairly large, one king bed that was pretty comfy, and the place was clean! Sure, the place is a little dated and some of the furniture could be upgraded, but it all adds to the charm. This place is CLEAN! Not the Ritz, but the absolute best in Hawthorne, and very reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised. I fell asleep with the sweet smell of clean sheets. The mattresses are on the very firm side, but that was OK for me. The owners were extremely pleasant. The room we had was very spacious, and the little refrigerator was much appreciated. There was also a coffee maker, which we did not use. It was so nice to get a few hours outside of Vegas to break up the trip home. I would stay here again. Sam & Sheila, the owners/on-site managers, are upgrading each room (as the economy allows). I never have had a "dirty room", unworking items, nor any bugs. The furniture is old but very clean. All of the amenities of home are present: coffee, tea, refrigerator, A/C, microwave, toileteries. The king-sized beds are delightful. The Holiday is conveniently located to restauarants, and I've always felt exxtremely safe in staying at the Holiday. read more
