I stayed here this past weekend for a night. It was superbowl Sunday. I spoke with the owner Todd on the phone, he was really sweet. The room was very clean and had a good smell to it. The towels smelled like a good detergent or fabric softener, had an at home smell to them. The bed was very comfortable, and clean. There was a good sized t.v in the room and a chair, coat rack and the heat worked well. There was also a mini fridge. The only thing it didn't have was a microwave. Maybe some rooms have microwaves, but mine didn't. Other that that is was a perfect room. I' stay here again for the cleanliness, hospitality and the close proximity to the town. The Cut throat Tavern is literally next door. The general store is across the street. There is also a beautiful creek right behind the lodge, I could hear it from my room. read more

Super impressed with our stay this past weekend. From start to finish this place exceeded our expectations. We were a bit worried about what the temp would be like in the room since the outside temp was sub 20. Heater in the room was perfect and at times was actually too toasty where we needed to turn it down. Smart Tv in room with Netflix and a bunch of other streaming services. The beds are very comfortable with great pillows, blankets, etc. Bathroom has an overhead heater that you can turn on prior so you don't freeze on the tile-like floor, and the water temp was great. They have great customer service with the Lodge being ran by Todd, and Jeanie. It felt like they genuinely cared about how your stay was, and asked all the right questions. The Creekside Lodge is a find and Todd the innkeeper is an absolute GEM! He's warm and personable, funny and helpful! I wish he wouldn't work so hard, though. It doesn't look like much as you drive past, but once you're inside... it's very cozy and relaxing. But that goes for the whole town! Jeanie and Todd that run Creekside are absolutely awesome. Very accommodating, very nice and so much hospitality. Todd is very knowledgeable about the fishing. Only downside, is once the town is closing down, there's no tv in the room so bring your iPad or smart phone and watch Hulu or Netflix or do like I and enjoy the peace and quiet after some drinks at J. Not air conditioned. No sound insulation. The only way to get fresh air into the room is to leave a window open. Unfortunately, this window is open to all of the passers-by, as well as all of their conversations - Whatever time of day or night. Towels were nice. Beds and bedding pretty low quality. I know that prices were elevated because we were there for a special weekend, but they were unconscionable - given the quality of our experience. My girlfriend and I just took a birthday getaway to Creekside Lodge this past weekend. We booked it last minute as our lives were hectic and just wanted to get away to Nature and our busy lives. The owner from the get-go was super communicative friendly, and welcoming. We had a late arrival which they accommodated beautifully for us the room was one of the most cleanest rooms I've stayed at and I travel frequently. And a double bonus the king size bed was one of the best beds I've stayed at it was like sleeping on a cloud. The hospitality here hands down is some of the best I've experienced. We also brought our two small dogs which they accommodated four and are all pet friendly. Without them even knowing it was a birthday stay they gifted us a free dinner at this amazing restaurant across the way called stonefly which I highly recommend! We are so excited to come back, I highly recommend staying here if it was a 10-star option I would give them 10! We had come into town for my brother's wedding and had a great stay. I had called a few days ahead and spoke to Todd to see if we could check in earlier because we had brought our young son with us. Great little spot in the middle of town. Todd is a delight and the folks who work here are all super friendly. It's basic, no frills, and clean. Sparkling clean. Beds are comfortable and you have world class hiking, biking, and fishing all within a quick drive. Grover Hotsprings are nearby and there are 4 different dining options all within walking distance (with varying hours). Most people seemed to be there either for hiking or fishing. It's worth noting there is no fridge, but there is a communal ice maker. They also have a communal microwave and water dispenser. Wifi is spotty-- particularly in the front rooms. Not a great work from anywhere spot (I.e. no way to do zoom calls). Also there is no AC so you need to keep the windows open at night if you like to sleep cool in the summer. Mostly not a problem but can get loud with motorcyclists coming through town. Overall, it's a great place and we look forward to returning. read more

A group of us (6 adults and 3 children) were trying to make our way to our rented condo in South Lake Tahoe on New Years Eve, on what happened to be one of the biggest snow storms in years. We were just 1.5 miles away from our condo when a state patrol had us turn around and back down the mountain due to unsafe roads and road closures. When trying to find a different route, we hit another road closure. At this point, we found ourselves in the town of Markleeville, CA at about 10:00 PM (again on New Year's Eve). Exhausted from being in a blizzard and on the road for 10 hours, we decided to call Creekside Lodge in the hope that they would have a room for us so late in the night and on a holiday. Tim, the owner, was so accommodating and able to get us a room for the night. We were incredibly grateful! The room itself was very clean and cozy. Very rustic on the outside, yet very nice on the inside. The host(s) are very attentive. If you have a question, just ask Todd! The room was very clean, and the bed was oh so comfortable. I loved the heater (it is winter and cold)...only about 5 minutes to heat the entire room. Lots of bathroom amenities. My favorite? A very quiet motel. My husband and I stayed at Creekside Lodge this past weekend. The room was very comfortable and had an awesome fan to keep the room cool. The rooms are decorated with the outdoor theme "cabin like style." Very nice. There is a utility room that has a microwave and hot and cold water dispenser . They usually add a few extra goodies there for your enjoyment. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, popcorn. Joann cleans the rooms very well. She is friendly and makes sure you have everything you need for your stay. She interacts with the guests and takes an interest in their conversations and always seems to have a smile on her face. Very welcoming. The entire Lodge is well kept . There are seating areas around the outside perimeter, to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or just visit with friends. The location is perfect. The fresh , cool air in the mornings are wonderful. Need food? no problem, there is a small grocery store and a few restaurants right in town. They all serve good food. We enjoy all of them. Todd makes himself available to answer questions that guests may have about the Lodge, food, fishing etc... He makes sure they have what they need to make their stay comfortable. He even has some good tips on fishing. The new owner has made many improvements in the last couple years. Double- pane windows, new blinds, new flooring and new ceiling fans. These have all been great! Thank you for providing a comfortable getaway for all of us who come from the big cities. It feels like home away from home. We will be back again soon! read more

My first visit this past week to the Creekside Lodge in Markleeville was a great time in a beautiful location. My room was very nice, very clean, and provided great heat and a warm bed on my two chilly nights. Todd and Jeanie were super hosts. Very friendly, welcoming, and Todd has all the info on where to fish as he plants the fish on the East Fork of the Carson River that runs by just outside of town. The fishing was good and I enjoyed fishing both the East Carson and the West Fork of the Walker River as well. Markleeville is like stepping back in time as it has a rich history and lots to see and do. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful in this Old West town that has lots of character. I'll give it 4 stars because the rooms are very nicely decorated, owner was super friendly and accommodating, it is priced right, and it is located in the middle of town. There is also free wi-fi. Motel is really cute and has a laundry and room with coffee pot and microwave that you can use. Free ice. That said, this room did not work for us, a family of four with two young children. I'm not sure what my husband was thinking booking it at the time (he booked it some time ago so didn't remember that it had only a king bed). The room is tiny. Barely room in it for the bed. The owner brought out a futon so that helped but there was really no room for the four of us to move around. There is no dedicated parking. The lot next to the motel belongs to the restaurant next door. No TV essentially (just something to be aware of if you have kids like ours). Also, it is located in the middle of town. OK so I put that as a plus earlier. Honestly, there really isn't much to Markleeville. Being in the middle of town doesn't buy you any convenience except that it was super easy going across the street to the general store and the deli. Plus being located right next to the only saloon in town is not the most desirable thing if you have early bedtimes like we do. The very loud motorcyles did not help either. We found this place last minute when we decided to Ski Kirkwood. We decided to make a weekend of it and searched on Airbnb and up popped Creekside Lodge. We booked based on reviews and so glad we did. Creekside was the sweetest little place in the cutest town ever. Very clean, very charming and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. It made a last minute ski day turn into a romantic weekend getaway. The decor is very rustic and true to the feel of the town. Great people, great place! Markleeville is a gem of a town that you can only experience by being there. And the best way to do that is to stay in one of the most historic sites right in the middle of everything. Being a sun bird, I was concerned about being too cold, but the heater took care of business for me. Everything was walking distance and perfectly located for a brisk walk. Todd and Genie were fantastic hosts who really want to make sure you feel comfortable at the lodge and will give you all the best advice on how to spend your time there. Its got the perfect mix of comfort. Bathrooms are very clean and well built. I noticed there was even one of those heating fans installed in the ceiling to make any shower on a cold morning just great. Something that also stood out was the smallest of details like the lamps, furniture and photos on the walls which have this really cool character. Well done you guys. This was a delight in all ways! To start, the owner, Jeannie, was very hospitable, friendly, informative, and always had a smile! We were in Room 7 - a conservative, yet cozy room. I loved that there was no television, and we sat outside on chairs and put our feet up on the bench. From here we sat with our drinks and listened to the melodious sound of the river. The room was impeccably clean, and I am a fan of having your room cleaned, bed made, and towels changed when you want and need, not as a matter of fact - good for me and the environment! The hotel is only four miles from Grover Hot Springs! Perfect! We dined across the street in a lovely restaurant- Stone Fly - had coffee at the only cafe in town - also quaint and frequented the Markleeville market - all nicely suggested by Jeannie! The whole experience was fantastic- one last word about Todd who checked us out - he's was just as friendly and kind as Jeannie. A most wonderful experience! read more

For the price, it's a bargain and the amenities are really nice ($86/night for full size bed, $96/night for king size), none of that double-occupancy crap. It looks like it had a recent remodeling and such nice touches in the room with hand-made quilt bedspread, comfy club chair covered in upholstery with moose figures and a modern, upgraded bathroom - towels are white and fluffy too. So very clean and homey. Next door is the bar/restaurant and the food is great, staff very friendly; had dinner and breakfast there. Four miles from the Grover Hot Springs, across the street from the local market and deli and I also called upon a local masseuse for a much needed massage (her info posted at the market). read more

Stayed here for one night so my sample size is small. I was in room 3 (two twin beds). It was on New Years night (e.g. 1/1/17) and price was $99 including tax. Compared to Stateline where rooms were almost $400 that was good. It's also closer to Kirkwood than South Lake Tahoe. Decor was decent. Clean room, firm bed (not too hard but comfortable). The bathroom was remodeled nicely. Only drawback is the walls are a bit thin. When people talked outside, you'd easily hear them. You could hear some room noise from the other guests (talking, etc). Since I arrived later (after 6pm) the owner simply left the door unlocked and had turned on the heater. So, I arrived to a cozy, warm room. I left early so check out was a similar process : Leave the key inside the room, lock the door and off you go. They just charge your credit card. Only other ding I can think of is the WiFi is so-so. When I first scanned for the network, nothing turned up. I tried a few minutes later and got connected with a signal strength of 2 out of 3. Sorry, I didn't think to run speedtest, but my guess is there's one centrally located router shared by all rooms. Still, it worked well enough but I wouldn't try to play any ping-critical games like FPSs on it. There was a sign on the hotel saying it was for sale by the owner. Take that for what it's worth. One other item worth mentioning: There's a gas station with a sign "Open 24 Hours" across the street. I say this because I wanted to fill up after Kirkwood. Google maps showed a couple of gas stations, but not this one. I ended up getting gas in Gardinerville which is only ~15 miles away, but had I known I would've gone to the gas station right by the hotel... read more

We always stay at the Creekside Lodge when we visit Markleeville. The rooms are warm and cozy with nice beds and plenty of room. They offer internet which is great. Staying in Markleeville is great if your looking for trout in the numerous lakes and streams including Markleeville Creek which is a trophy Trout stream running right behind the hotel. Everything in town is in walking distance from the lodge like a general store, bar, grill and breakfast eatery. Did I mention the fish? Lots of fish. read more
