My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night this week during my birthday trip. We stayed in Rosa May's Boudoir room (#7). The hotel is so charming and well kept. The room was clean and bright, beautifully furnished and comfortable. There were two powerful space heaters available to us - one in the main bedroom, the other in the bathroom. They kept us nice and cozy during the cold evening. The owner Jeff welcomed us and was incredibly kind and helpful. He encouraged us to use their saloon area (tequila included!) and the Nespresso machines available on the 2nd floor. The town of Bridgeport is small and walkable. The hotel is central to everything you might need or want to do there. We would absolutely stay here again. read more

Heater though small is mighty! The hotel is charming inside, a bit weathered on the outside. This is a true gem along 395. The Bodie hotel was originally located in the boom town of Bodie California and was subsequently moved to Bridgeport in the 1940s (?). The current inn keepers Jeff and Jo recently purchased the hotel and have meticulously renovated the building and in doing so have saved a unique piece of California history. Jeff is very welcoming and gave us a tour of the hotel and a brief description of the history of the hotel. He also gave excellent recommendations for dinner and things to do in the area (hotsprings, Bodie, old county jail). He and his wife are a big part of the charm of this boutique hotel. The history of the building comes to life as soon as you step through the front doors into the Parlor. Downstairs there is a nice sitting are with books describing the history of the Bodie and the Eastern Sierras. Upstairs are 6 completely renovated rooms - each unique and nicely appointed. We opted to stay in the church room which has an amazing view of the Mono county courthouse across the street. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There is a common area with a shared fridge/freezer, ice maker and espresso machine. There is a coffee machine in the Parlor. There is a shared back porch which is perfect for watching sunrise/sunset over the mountains. If you are traveling 395 or looking for a place to stay prior to spending a day in Bodie this is a place that should NOT be missed. We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Bodie Hotel. I absolutely loved everything about this place.. Jeff and Jo the owners of the hotel are both friendly and informative and take the time to make you feel both welcome and aware of everything that you can do in this amazing little community and the surrounding wilderness. If you let yourself step back in time and enjoy the beauty of the furniture and the wallpaper and the amazing front window that we had that looks across the street at the courthouse, the furniture and the knickknacks all the little touches are absolutely gorgeous. The bed was so comfortable and clean and the water in the shower was wonderfully hot and the bathroom was so clean. I don't know if every bathroom has it, but there was a shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispenser in our shower. We had a fantastic prime rib dinner at the Bridgeport restaurant just a few doors down the street and enjoyed a glass of wine in their courtyard.. We had some dynamite chocolate chip cookies from the bakery across the street and thoroughly enjoyed them with the complementary coffee that's provided at the Bodie Hotel. Remembering that this hotel is from the 1880s over 140 years old and if there's a little creek in one of the floors when you walk by, you just have to embrace it because the hotel is 140 years old. And perfect.. Also when we first checked in, Steve was at the front desk and helped carry our luggage up the stairs. I thought that was a really nice touch.. I truly am looking forward to my next weekend getaway in Bridgeport at the Bodie Hotel. read more

I am so glad we found this place on our way to Lake Tahoe. Such a wonderful change of pace to stay in a treasured location. My sister and I stayed at The Bodie Hotel in September 2023. We were warmly welcomed by Jeff, one of the owners. He helped us with our luggage to the second floor where we stayed in Room 2, the blue room. The room was very comfortable, beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and soft, luxury linens. We loved the wood flooring and blue, flocked wallpaper. The room faces the street which is the main eastern Sierras artery: Highway 395. We were a little worried it would be noisy at night with traffic. However, it was very quiet. Large trucks don't traverse 395 at night and there was little auto traffic. We slept like logs! The bathroom is small and the sink is outside the bath, just as it should be to preserve the historical setting. After breakfast at The Bridgeport Inn, we talked to Jeff about fishing spots. He shared a lot of local knowledge and even shared some bait with us! Bottom line: we loved the room and the owners. We'll be back in 2024. Five stars! read more

Our experience was great. Jeff the owner was super friendly and full of information about the area. He even started his player piano for us. Jeff really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. It is an older hotel that has been renovated but they kept the same charm of the old Bodi hotel. This hotel has a lot of character like I said they kept the aesthetics of the vintage hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms have a window ac. I didn't see any ghosts but once I fall asleep I'm out. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Had no idea what it would be like, was greeted so warmly by Jeff, the historic building has really cool and interesting antiques from the original hotel, and they've upgraded it to be quite modernized and comfortable. For example there was a multiple port usb charger in the room, an awesome espresso maker for the morning jolt, the sheets and pillows are soft and luxurious. The shower was very hot and strong, as a good shower should be. We stayed before and after a backpacking trip and that strong hot shower was *just* what I needed after the trip! I love the idea of the old world charm but this was a bit disappointing. Know that it is basically self-service. It could've been better kept inside and out but was severely lacking. For the price we expected much more. You have to bring your dirty towels to them daily and ask for new ones which you have to get yourself, you have to take out your own trash, and in 4 days Noone even offered to change bedding or clean. The toilet is clearly linked to very old plumbing which is obvious by the brightly marked clean outs in the rear of the building yet staff will try to blame any type of blockage or problems on the guests. Staff was friendly until this review was submitted and come to find out they are extremely rude and unprofessional incorrectly commenting on clothing and cleanliness and children is absolutely insane! Be careful if you stay here as they are most likely listening through the walls and watching your every move. A bit creepy if you ask me. They also tries to come after us for plumbing expenses of $250 for their old plumbing clogging up lying about us flushing baby wipes that we have never done. All because we left a negative review. Owners that do this should never be allowed to run a business. Pretty sure dude was cracked out on some type of upper as well. Just read their response to my review and tell me if you would want to stay somewhere where they treat their customers like that? At the very least I should be owed an apology if not a refund! read more

We had a wonderful time at the Bodie hotel. Our downstairs room was amazingly spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large and bright and clean. The beds lulled us to sleep and the coolness of the room was such a nice contrast to outside. We were so appreciative of the coffee choices the next morning, it helped fuel our start. The look of the hotel was such a treat with the antique furniture, wallpaper, beautiful red lush carpet in the lobby and the adorable tv room. Our teenage daughter is in to everything victorian / old timey and this was a dream for her. Thank you so much for the in room framed card that highlighted the town offerings with types of food available and open close times, that was a HUGE help. We understood and were prepared for this being an older building but it was so bright and clean, we have stayed at name brand hotels in san simeon that were tired and dreary looking so kudos to you. We saw comments about the sloping or leaning in the rooms/stairs but this is an historic building and felt completely safe. Again, we so enjoyed our stay, it was a fresh, bright, clean room and made our adventure through your area such a delight. read more

This hotel is historic and the room are well decorated. The owner very nice. We booked a room thru Hotels.com. When we arrived we noticed dry rot on the outside western wall. The stairs were very steep, uneven, and rickety. Our room on the 2nd floor sloped down as did the outside deck. Although the pictures show modern electrical switches, our bathroom had old fashioned push button switches. My husbands asthma started acting up after 15 minutes in the property. We requested a refund and the owner refused. read more

Can't wait to revisit! Absolutely loved our overnight stay at the Bodie Hotel on our way to Tahoe. The owners are so welcoming, I felt like we were staying with family! The Victorian decor was authentic while still providing modern day comfort with new bedding and AC units. The new owners just reopened a few weeks ago and were so excited about all their plans to continue fixing up the place. I can't wait to keep coming back to see the progress they've made. They had some awesome local stories to share and great recommendations for where to eat and what to check out while in the area. Definitely will be recommending this hotel to others and will be coming back soon! If you're looking for modern day Boujee resort feels, this place may not be for you. But then again, if that's your jam, I'm not sure why you'd be traveling down 395 in the first place. If you love small towns, history and antique decor, this place is a must visit. read more

Our usual go to road-side motel in Bridgeport was sold out and The Bodie Motel was the first to have a room after calling a handful of others and since we've been wanting to check out the local abandoned mines since learning about them last year, we decided to take a chance. We knew we weren't getting the Ritz (the owner cautioned us), but sometimes you have to compromise comfort when exploring. The Bodie Motel certainly has character, with it's red carpeted, red walled lobby and display of antiques. Once upstairs in this old Victorian style house, each room has it's own flavor. We stayed in #4 -- the green room which included wall to wall white and green velvet wallpaper. Even though it was musty, it was mostly clean. The bed was much too soft for my taste and the walls fairly thin so you could hear your surroundings. And I doubt I could be comfortable at Bodie Motel for longer than a night, but I appreciated the hot shower, the decent rate considering the town was sold out ($89 +tax) and the experience. read more

We were staying in Bridgeport and were walking down Main Street looking at Hotels. Checked out the Bodie Hotel. Owner was very friendly and informative and talked to us for awhile about the purchase and hard work put into repopening the Hotel. He and his wife have done an amazing job on this place to make it truly special, their hearts are into making this a memorable stay. He gave us a tour and gave us the history of the Hotel. This hotel, built in the 1800s, oozes character and really takes you back in time. We stayed here en route to Yosemite, and it was absolutely ideal. It reminded us of a similar place we stayed at in Seward in 2022. Jeff - the owner - checked us in and was super friendly and helpful. The place has been lovingly restored, retaining period style without sacrificing comfort. There is a nice balcony at the back of the second floor where you can crack open a beer and look at the stars twinkling over the Sierra. read more

We booked this hotel for 3 days but left after one night. The room was dusty, dirty, crawling with ants. We website does not truthfully represent this hotel. The shower floor was stained. There is charming old and then there is just flea market quality old. We complained to the owner at checkout. If possible, try and reserve the "School Room." It is a 5 star room! The wall paper, believe it or not, is an absolute work of art and the pictures don't do it justice. The beds are so comfortable! What makes this a overall 5 star hotel is the uniqueness. Each room is done in a different color scheme with beautiful antique furnishings. The details and the hard work, Jo and her husband put into this place is what makes it special. We visited the boomtown of Bodie and tried to picture where the hotel stood in it's hay-day. Overall, we had a restful two days back in time and are now ready to face the modern world again. We are looking forward to returning to this magnificent place with it's beauty and grace. read more

We found this weirdly wonderful hotel by accident and would go out of our way to stay here again. Jean, the owner was warm and welcoming. We rented her last room, room #5, with 3 beds; a queen and two twins. Her prices are good for the area. We slept well, it was so quiet. Lots of water pressure made for a really good shower. I loved the style, the funky charm. It was old but clean. If you are bored, like I am, by generic, bland, corporate motels give this place a try. If you hate adventure, maybe not. read more

We had the best time staying here. We loved the atmosphere and can tell the new owners Jeff and Jolissa have put so much effort into making it nice but also maintaining the original Victorian feel. We enjoyed exploring the towns gift shops and eating at the different restaurants. Great fishing spots close by. The Bodie Ghost Town is only about 30 mins away and didn't disappoint. The floors slant, the walls are thin, the stairs creak. It is old. I was very happy to get the last room while passing through Bridgeport. I slept well, the room was clean, the shower was warm. My sister, niece and her friend from Norway totally loved this place! So out of the 1800s. Alot of character! Loved the narrow staircase, the velvet wallpaper, the antique furniture... Our room looked out to one of the oldest courthouses in the U.S.. the rooms were clean, beds comfortable, plenty of toilet paper for us chicks.. LOL.. ... just a hop skip and a jump to the Travertine Hotsprings which was very neato as well.. Jean the owner was super sweet, giving us the scoop of the town.. It's decided: I'm staying here every time I visit Yosemite or the nearby Travertine Hot Springs.It's funky, with decor ranging from a vintage organ, to Billy The Bass, to wallpaper you have to see to believe - it's that amazing. It's a place with character and it suits the area perfectly. The caretaker is very friendly, and was extremely helpful with the only snag in the visit. We booked online through the hotel's website, but were told the price we booked for was incorrect when we arrived. I recommend calling to confirm prices before booking, and a quick call to the owner cleared things up, and we were ready for our stay. While the rooms have not been updated for quite some time, it's part of the hotel's charm. Each room has a different decor so each stay can be a unique experience - although I have a feeling that folks who stay a few times quickly find a favorite and stick with it. For me, it's a let down to have a fantastic day out and about, then return to a generic hotel room and stare at the TV. I can do that at home. I can't get a place like this at home, and that alone makes the stay worth it. The price is very reasonable - no more expensive than anything else in the area, and quite likely less. It's a quick drive to Travertine Hot Springs, or a short walk to any of the friendly establishments in town. Take a chance on an unconventional hidden gem; you won't regret it. read more

Then a night in the Bodie Hotel to top off the trip. This hotel was brought over to Bridgeport by the owners mother many years ago board by board. Original furniture & much more to this day.... My husband surprised me with a trip to Bridgeport, for three nights, for our anniversary. Our trip did not start well..... nor did it end at this hotel. We pulled up and went inside the Bodie Hotel. It was very interesting in the "lobby", and I was looking for some information regarding the hotel itself and didn't see any. I LOVE history and LOVE staying at hotels like that, I have traveled through many countries and LOVE quirky places. We checked in and went to our room, which faced the main road. The place had a really awesome Victorian feel, the stairs are a little crooked which I thought was neat, and the room had a lot of charm, although you can't open or use some of the furniture in the room, which I thought was rather a waste. My husband and I sat down on the bed and I instantly thought... oh crap. We wanted to take a short nap, after a long drive and laid down. Between the very load traffic noise from the main room, and the mattress springs and sagging I was feeling after lying down for 60 seconds, I had a feeling it was going to be a loonnnnnggg night. I went to the (musty and kind of gross) bathroom and could hear our neighbors clearly through the walls as well as the people in the lobby below...... awesome. So we got up and walked the short distance around the town and had dinner at the oh so wonderful bar next door which came highly recommended by the owner, whom my husband made the reservation with. We later found out that she was the owner of both the Hotel and bar/restaurant, shocker. After our not so wonderful dinner, we went back to our room. There is no cable, but there are VHS's, which is fine but the bed-frame was too tall and we would not have been able to sit in the uncomfortable bed and watch anything. AND the internet barely worked, so we couldn't watch a movie on netflix. So we laid down and talked and read. My husband fell asleep so I tried to sleep too. It was so noisy it sounded like cars were going to drive through our room. It was hot and I put the window unit on and it was super loud and woke my husband up. He was tossing and turning and I could not get comfortable for anything. I took the top comforter and laid on the floor, seriously fun! Since the building is so old, the floor sloped so I was sleeping on an old shaggy carpeted, sloping floor. I woke up about 6am to find my husband on the computer trying to find another place for us to stay as we were not going to ruin our trip from lack of sleep. He felt so bad that he folded up the blankets and got out of bed so that I could try and sleep for a couple hours, because I was exhausted (as was he). He went downstairs to try and find internet reception, bcause it barely worked in the room and had the person who worked there call the owner. This is where it REALLY went down hill. The person explained that we had a horrible night there and was wondering if we could get our money back for one or two of the remaining nights, as he had found a condo in Mammoth, for us to stay in and hopefully enjoy the rest of our trip. When my husband got the phone, the owner Jean started SCREAMING at him. I could hear it all in the bedroom above my head. My husband is a VERY patient person and the owner made accusations that we had gotten into a fight and that we wanted to end or trip early and made stories up in her head while screaming them to my husband. She apparently went on for minutes at a time, while my husband was trying to calmly talk to her, then he lost his temper. She finally calmed down and gave us our last night's money back and promised to send a check if they rented it out for that night. This was after she had screamed at him for over 10 minutes. They did rent it out and we got a check, however I don't care how much history, charm or whatever your business has, there is NO EXCUSSE to treat your customers like that, it was horrible! And on top of it, it seems like she has something against the competion in the town, as she has nothing nice to say about anything but her own businesses. I would unfortunately steer clear of this historical hotel, unless you want a bad nights sleep and a possible screaming match with a crazy person. There might be less charm and history but I would definitely go elsewhere. read more

I walked in and rented a room. It was off-season and a bit of a chore to find the proprietor, but I eventually found her in the bar next door, and she was very friendly and helpful. She showed me two rooms and I took the one out back, a little house. It's a bit funky, and I had to open the tank on the back of the toilet and jiggle the chain to make the toilet stop running, but it was clean and comfortable and it was the cheapest place in town, which isn't saying much, because everything in town is overpriced, including this place. read more

We had a reservation to stay for a night, but ended up not staying due to the owner Jean did not make us feel wanted. We were on the phone with her close to 5 pm which we wanted to check in. We booked at a price of 88 dollars in our confirmation and when we got to the location, she told us to pay at 120. We are not cheap to pay at her rates, but feels unsafe to stay at a hotel with an owner who changed their mind at last minute. read more
