My family and I reserved the Cottage Suite, and it was absolutely perfect for our stay! Although it's located separately from the main hotel, we actually loved the privacy. It felt like having our own cozy little house. The suite included a full kitchen, which made our stay even more convenient, and the outdoor space was beautiful. We especially enjoyed having our own grassy yard and a gas barbecue grill to cook and spend time together as a family. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely stay here again. Still a reliable, comfortably consistent place to stay. Comfortable beds, a fridge, microwave and in room coffee are a plus especially for us early morning risers as the coffee shop is closed on Tuesday and nothing else opens until 7:00 am. It's sad about the lack of decent food in town as the economic downturn has hit them hard. The Rhino is a good option but breakfast choices are nearly non existent. Hopefully we tourists can keep this town going. read more

Worlds cleanest motel and the room had an extra seating area with couch in case some didn't want to share a queen - walker creek runs behind it - gorgeous views and the water came out instantly hot and with tons of pressure I almost too a second shower after my first towels were fresh and clean and the room heated up quickly - ery happy with our stay here - very friendly woman at front desk gave us info about how to get to travertine hot springs - what a great place! We stayed in room facing river. Found room clean, comfortable and liked having access to the deck w chairs! Do not expect four seasons - we are in the mountains! Also has a mini fridge and microwave which was convenient. We brought a cooler for snacks, and the lodge has ice machine which helped. Front desk and staff were helpful and accommodating! Would definitely stay here again. Other pros: pool n hot tub, ac. Con: curtains are not darkening so recommend eye covers if you are light sensitive or want to sleep in. read more

I made a special trip to Bridgeport with friends for a birthday and reserved 2 rooms for about 400.00. Upon check in we were appalled at how dirty and smelly both rooms were. As you can see from my prior reviews, my friends and I are repeat customers who went the extra mile to tell everyone on Yelp how clean and comfy this motel was the last time we stayed. I don't know if this is a new manager or what but the pillows smelled like body odor and the mattresses were lumpy and the bedspreads had lint on them. I went to the office twice and asked for different rooms but the manager said NO. She had other rooms but she still said NO. She was argumentative and told me none of the rooms stink and she said if I didn't like it to pack my bags and leave. It was an awful experience for our group. I won't be returning and just so you know I am being honest, check out the mattress that I slept on. We had to go to the store and buy room deodorizer to spray and open up the doors. It was a little better but it really upset all of us. Water for shower was cold. I ran the water for over 5 minutes but still it didn't warm up. Room 42 and 43. If the business owner would like to see how I was treated, I recorded the conversation with the manager when she tells me she will not give me clean pillows and if I didn't like it I needed to Pack my Bags and Go somewhere else!!!!! I have never in my life been treated like this by a hotel manager! My friends were shocked as well. I don't understand why she was so rude and maybe she didn't like something about me. Stayed at the beginning of November. The price is affordable. The staff were very nice. We were upgraded to a king sized room. Yay! The room was snug but comfortable and quiet. (#27 1-KING) Very clean! Soft pillows and towels. Roomy parking. Great and pretty location. Pet friendly. They have a fenced dog run with grass. Yay!! Will stay again. May seek a river side room next time just for ambiance . read more

Very clean and cozy in the best location in Bridgeport. If you get a river view room there is a lovely view. There is a deck with chairs and a bbq you can use. Just make sure to close the doors and use off. Lots of mosquitos and gnats! So quiet and you can get cross ventilation while sleeping in the fresh air so it was a perfect place for a restorative night. They say they provide breakfast on the website and on their confirmation email but as of July 2022, they do not. Several cute little walkable places are available though. Will definitely stay there again when in Bridgeport. And, we also saw beavers doing their thing in the river when we were sitting on the porch. So cute!! read more

Stayed for a night while heading down 395. It was unseasonably chilly and breezy in Bridgeport when we arrived but the room was cozy. It had a very rustic feel and design to it. The gal checking us in was great and made us feel right at home. We got a room "on the river" so it had a deck and grass area to enjoy. They are dog friendly and I saw many people with their four legged friends - only once was barking an issue and it was during the day and the dog owner quickly nipped it. The bed was very... springy. Hubs and I had a hard time as he moves a lot and I'm a light sleeper but we made it work. My biggest complaint would be the shower. I turned the water on and it was like fire... but within a few minutes, it was luke warm and then it got a little chilly. We both noticed this. I also noticed the next morning at the sink when the neighbor showered, the sink water was ice cold but as soon as they finished, it went to luke warm. I'm not sure how the water set up goes but it is something to keep in mind if you're looking forward to bathing in lava. Overall, it's a cute spot and I enjoyed my visit here. read more

We stayed over Labor Day weekend and will definitely be back. Lovely motel with river view and lush green grass. We stayed while visiting Bodie and Mono Lake. There is so much to explore nearby. We stayed here for two nights with our dog while we played at Twin Lakes. We really loved how dog friendly they are, and they don't charge a crazy fee like other places do. The room was clean and cozy, cabin style with all the amenities. The AC was very loud but did the job. Thank god they have grills there because Bridgeport is lights out by 7. There are still a few dining options open later, but expect to pay $$$ to eat mediocre food. Our second night there we grilled bacon wrapped hotdogs while getting attacked by man eating mosquitos. Obviously the mosquitoes are not their problem, but be warned, this place is by water. The pool and jacuzzi were small and old, but very clean. There were only a few small things we weren't crazy about. The lock on the door when you leave is just on the door handle, you can only deadbolt it while inside. It was very un-sturdy and anyone trying hard enough could break it open. We also didn't like that the deadbolt says "vacant" when it's unlocked. This is the reason we believe staff came into our room one day when we left the AC on while gone for a few hours, it was turned off when we came back. We asked the front desk for an extra pillow and were basically told "what you see is what you get" and they don't have extras. Lastly, some local kids swarmed the pool on the last night and basically forced us to leave. Besides those hiccups, it was still a very lovely stay and we would stay there again. read more

This review is long overdue. I just spent three nights with seven friends at the Walker River Lodge. We have stayed there for more than 40 Labor Day Weekends and it just keeps getting better and better. Roxanne, in particular, gets a five-plus rating. In these days when customer service is often taken for granted, she goes over the top to make our stay pleasant--whether it is over the phone, by email, or in person. She always has time for us. She is such a great point person for the WRL. And thanks to Erinn for all she has done for us over the years. By the way, we are not the only groups who come back to the WRL every Labor Day Weekend. This was my second time staying at Walker and it did not disappoint. The room was clean, the patio in the back adorable. Bridgeport is a stop over town, and there is not a lot to do there. If you are venturing to Bodie or Yosemite it is a great place. If you need a good breakfast in the morning the Bridgeport inn on main street has a solid breakfast. This is your basic 1960s style drive up motel that has been updated. I liked the convenience of just pulling up to the room and unloading the vehicle right there. This is a basic drive through area with a functioning motel. Thats it. It does not boast major amenities and that is fine by me. It's a good place to rest your head. read more

We have stayed in the lodge twice on our way to Bodie. Both times were great. We took our dogs this time and it was so nice to just open the back doors so they could go out.(on leash of course) rooms were good, only downside was the bed was really lumpy. Such a cute little spot. Love the deck overlooking river. If the place is full it's not too private. There is one room with a side deck/yard. There is a smoking deck right in front of 43 &44 so be aware of that if it bothers you. It's so quiet here ! There is an a/c which we enjoyed using the fan at night . Sprinkler game is strong , real wet grass I'd choose this spot if you're going to use the deck , otherwise I'd prob go cheaper @ $200/night Bed ok. Pillows weak. THE PICTURES OF THIS PLACE ARE A LIE! On a recent road trip we chose this place in advance because it looked pretty good. Believe me, it's not. From the check-in until departure the next morning, it was just awful. The woman who checked us in was aloof and certainly not welcoming in any way and the room (and premises) were broken down and dirty. I don't know where these photos were taken and when, but they're night and day from the crappy beat-up room we were given. RAMSHACKLE is the best way to describe it. No privacy, either - the decks off each room are all connected, so you step outside and there's your neighbor(s) five feet away. No food of any kind was offered for a snack or breakfast, and the swimming pool was completely drained. And don't be fooled by the Walker River advertising - the river looked like some drainage canal in an urban area. I definitely would not recommend this place. Plus, there is no decent place to eat or drink in the town. Pass this place on by! read more

This was my second stay at this little hotel and I'm just as happy as my first stay. I adore this tiny motel style hotel. The rooms are super clean and have a log cabin style decor that is unique and so appropriate for the area. There's a pool, which always makes me happy, free wi-fi, and continental breakfast. The tiny town here is pretty cool, just know the hours of restaurants/bars during this time as they seem to change. The hotel is in convenient proximity to Yosemite which makes it a great place to stop before continuing on. No, this hotel isn't your typical chain hotel, it isn't supposed to be. It's an adorably unique motel type of stay that you're supposed to have in the middle of nowhere along your pursuit of one of our greatest national parks. Yes, prices are higher in this area due to the close proximity of Yosemite and few available hotels, classic supply and demand. If you prefer cookie-cutter chain hotels then I suggest you stay closer to bigger cities and just drive through. Personally, I adore this hotel and will come back again if life permits. read more

Having read reviews we were disappointed, to say the least. The air conditioning was so loud we couldn't sleep (and it was too hot to leave it off). Also, we had the room closest to the curved highway out front with cars and trucks passing most hours of the day and night. Something bit me as soon as I lay down on the bed. Not sure what kind of bug it was, but I searched to make sure there were no more (that I could see, at least). We were glad we only spent one night here. If you want to visit the pictures hot springs in Bridgeport (of which there are two), know that they are a few miles away, and you will be driving on rough dirt roads. Just a heads up. read more

I would give it a 5 star but my room smelled like dogs. Management, it would be so easy to shampoo the carpets of put pet odorizer out. Exceeded expectations, but not cheap. The room was comfortable. Motel location is great. Parking was outside my door. There's even a swimming pool and hot tub. This is an old-school, 1950s-style motel, but it's got the modern amenities. Wifi is super-fast. Plenty of electrical power plugs in the room (a power strip). DirectTV. And the shower has amazing water pressure. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely stay here again. read more

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The pool was nice perfect temperature. This place is so close to everything. You can walk along the main street. There are natural hot springs just a few minutes drive away. There is Bodie ghost town close by. Also Twin Lakes and Yosemite are close as well. Terrific place to spend time in a gorgeous area! The Walker River Lodge offers a welcome, friendly, clean, comfortable and perfect spot for our family to settle while we discovered all the beauty of Mono County. The pool is kept in great condition, the sheets are really comfortable and our suite was ample for our group. The staff was amazing and accommodating when our reservations were made incorrectly. I would assume prices would be way less for this deserted area, but i was wrong. Anyhow, this place appeared to be amongst the higher rated and affordable options. Staff was amazing, cancelled my 2nd night reservation (due to plan changes) when, technically, i was passed the cancellation period. I think that's awesome. Place was definitely quiet, cute little town located by the lake and beautiful sierras to the west, short walk north. We really had a nice 2 night stay. There's a 2pm check in and Check out is 11:00. It is a clean well maintained lodge. They gave us a AAA discount. We enjoyed staying in a river view room, it was very peaceful. They had a very small refrigerator and an in room coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable. They have a nice continental breakfast with toast, bagels, instant oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea and very yummy muffins. The breakfast starts at 7am I think it would be helpful to open the breakfast earlier for us early risers. We enjoyed our stay and will be back with the whole family next time. read more

LOVELY AMBIANCE After having stayed here and read the other reviews, I think the disparity between the high marks vs low marks has to do with which rooms you stay in. The rooms that back up to the creek are charming & quiet and the back slider opens up to a roomy deck, which fronts a lovely lawn area, which finally fronts Walker River. You get a nice view of the surrounding valley and mountains. I would think that the people that gave it low marks must have gotten the smaller, less expensive rooms that are back to back with other rooms and get the noise from the main road, We stayed in the quieter, larger, creekside rooms. At first, I was a little surprised by the room rate of $153 per night, but after staying here and seeing what the rest of the Bridgeport/WillowSprings/Bodie area had to offer for lodging, I felt it was worth it. Why? PROS: -great deck & lawn area for kicking back and relaxing -SUPER clean rooms -cute, woodsy decor in room -friendly front desk -decent continental breakfast -cable TV (Direct TV I think) had plenty of premium channels -free wi-fi that was fast enough for my needs (web browsing, checking email) -awesome water pressure in bathroom CONS: -on the pricey side for being out in the boonies, but worth it compared to the other motels available in the area. There are not a lot of choices, but this one is the best. -bathroom is basic utilitarian only. (I've since heard from the motel owner who mentioned that they are updating the bathrooms.) If I'm ever in this area again, this would be my top choice for lodging. read more

Ahh the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Home of Mono Lake, fabulous trout fishing and Bridgeport. This was my dad's favorite place in the world. So what better place to scatter his ashes than here? This is where the Walker River Lodge comes in. In the mini-ville of Bridgeport, you have very few lodging options. My family wanted a suite that would host 5 adults and 2 small children, with a pool that wouldn't break the bank. The walker river lodge had all these things- plus the added bonus of a full kitchen, a private patio and a charcoal barbecue on the lawn over looking the walker river. You can seriously fish right off the patio! Downsides: uncomfortable beds. I woke up sore every day. So did my brother. Not enough pillows. That might have helped with the uncomfortability- but when we asked they could only spare one and that went to my mom who was on the hide-a-bed. The air conditioning was only in the main living area, not the bedrooms. It was like a little tiny oven in me and Mark's bedroom. And the worst problem: along with the walker river came an abundance of mosquitoes. We barbecued one night and within minutes we were all covered with bites. My poor husband got a huge one right in the center of his nose! I guess I'll admit he IS delicious! In spite of all of the cons, I was actually surprised at how nice this hotel was, considering it's location. Our family of seven was very comfortable here- which is saying a lot for one room! read more

My husband and I stayed in a king lake view room, and found the accommodations to be very pleasant. The bed was comfortable, and even though the bathroom was small, it still worked for us. I especially liked the back deck with the view of the river. Two things to note though. This is a pet friendly property, so if you don't like dogs running around, you won't like the place. Additionally, smoking is not allowed in the rooms (which is good); however people do smoke on their decks and by their front doors. This is problematic as the smoke wafts back in the rooms. Personally I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, and I don't want to smell it while I am enjoying the sunset from my deck. Management should either make all areas of the property non-smoking, or designate a specific area (away from the rooms) as the only smoking area on the property. I just had to close my front window because a young lady was perched outside it getting her nicotine fix. read more
