I always feel vulnerable trying a new inn, especially when traveling solo or with a kid... but I'm really glad I gave this place a try. I took a trip with my 9 year old this summer. We decided to do an overnight to visit Yosemite's high country, the ghost town of Bodie and a few other places along the amazing Highway 395. While in our travels, we've been through Bridgeport several times, and usually stop in town to eat or refuel, we've never stayed in town for a night. I booked the hotel online, which was very convenient. The price was right, and I feel like I got exactly what I expected for my purchase. This location has a lovely park like feel, with single story rooms in the shape of an L around it. It is located right off the main street, and close enough to walk to several food locations. Parking for each room is right outside--which is especially nice. The rooms are modest but clean, with comfortable beds and all that you would need to have a good stay. Some of the furniture was starting to show some wear, but it didn't impact the function or comfort of the space. I really appreciated how friendly everyone at the reception desk was, both in recommending places to grab dinner or breakfast, and also in knowledge about the surrounding areas. The motel is under new owners now, so they are trying to make improvements like removing old ceiling fans that you can't turn off because someone broke the chain. So ours was going strong and it was a bit chilly. We had a 2 bed room and my mattress sloped so I felt like I was always struggling to stay in it. A horrible night's sleep. We had no bar soap at the sink and had to ask for it. It's not a fancy spot in a not fancy town, but it was clean. read more

The Silver Maple is definitely the silver lining in Bridgeport. Its old school charm is warm. Its beautifully landscaped grounds inviting. Their rooms are, well, cozy. All 169 square feet of mine. They make good use of this impeccably clean space though. Everything has its place, and everything is in it. As noted on the website, this Inn was built back in the 30s. We as a population must have been on the slighter side in that decade. Coming out of those depression years, our parents, and grandparents had to make do with the minimum. During your stay, you may have to do the same. Space-wise anyway. It was fine for me. Not so small in stature I am. You'll be ok. The landscape is lush. Make good use of it. Unwind on a lounge chair, or picnic on one of their tables. There's ample shade for doing both. But don't use it as one young tourist from Italy did. More on that later. Your hosts are very friendly and can answer any of your local inquiries. They're proud of their slice of heaven, however small it may be. The chiming of the bells on the historic courthouse next door will only enhance your memorable stay. Quick Tip: You may want to consider packing some earplugs, for you never know when they may be needed. Not necessarily for noise at this quiet hamlet, but for the unforseen. During my stay, the town of Bridgeport had a complete electrical black out. It went on into the wee hours of the morning. Naturally, the heat of the day warmed up the rooms to the extent that the windows needed to be kept open. And here's where our friend the Italian tourist comes into play. It seems he and his friends were enjoying what nightlife Bridgeport had to offer, black out not withstanding. They must have imbibed to the extent, where our friend couldn't handle the altitude, mixed with whatever libations that were being passed around. Through that evening he took full advantage of the lush verdant vegetation, to dispose of what was taken in during the previous hours. In other words, he puked his guts out. Seriously loved our stay at the Silver Maple Inn. We've been visiting the Eastern Sierras since 2016, and always stop or stay in Birdgeport. It's been part of our journey. We've always noticed this quaint motel, and finally booked two nights here. We stayed for my birthday, what a treat. Very relaxing town, felt safe the whole time. We sat outside on one of the tables, and played board games, and ate food. There is an owl family that flies around at night, really cool to watch them. The motel has the most beautiful grass area. I noticed while I was in the registration office, they have been featured in the Sunset magazine. Kudos. Bridgeport tips: Make sure you have enough of what you need. Bridgeport closes down early and some places are open only certain days. The rooms have a small fridge inside. There is a microwave and ice machine area, we used that a lot to make hot water for tea. read more

The property was adorable, with a large grassy area for sitting outside amongst the trees. Rooms were clean and nice, however the smell of disinfectant or cleaning solution was SO OVERPOWERING that we could barely breathe. Had to open windows and the door and even after hours of airing out, the smell was POWERFUL. I mentioned this to the front desk, and she admitted she had heard this before. If so, why hadn't it been remedied? It definitely affected our stay there, and for that reason, we won't be back. read more

The room was decent and the location is nice. The air conditioning also worked quite well. My family and I stayed here for 4 days but when we tried to request new towels and return our old ones by going to the front office, we were told we couldn't be given clean towels just because we put Do Not Disturb on our door. Seems a bit sketchy. There were also quite a lot of bugs, but I do understand that is not something that can be controlled quite so easily. Another thing to note is that even though the room itself was decent, the bathroom was extremely small and the shower head can't be tilted down for those who are short. The Inn is conveniently located on 395 and a short walk to several places to eat and a market. I love the fact that the Inn is dog friendly, and there are lots of places on the property, behind and around to walk your dog. The room was clean and did not smell of smoke, dogs or heavy carpet spray, a huge plus! There is a notice in the room that any evidence of smoking will result in a $100 fine!! I am all for keeping places smoke free given I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. I left early both mornings and was unable to try the breakfast. the only drawback is that the walls are fairly thin and you can hear your neighbor, but luckily everyone staying there seemed to go to bed early and were quiet. I would definitely stay at the Inn again and hope to plan a weekend or long weekend to the area again in the near future and could not imagine staying anywhere else. read more

Booked a "King" room, and paid $140 before 12% tax. Room was smaller than the modern equivalents in the big city. But, the room was very comfortable and had modern upgrades. A shower that featured granite sides and accommodated my 6'4" height, DirecTV. great heating, a very comfortable firm bed, and a check in that rivaled few both here and in Europe. The check in was easy and pleasant. If you are adventuring in or near Bridgeport, CA, then stay here or in the old house that is also used for breakfasts (nothing special, but it'll get you through to lunch). Enjoy! read more

It was easy to reserve and the woman at the front desk was very friendly & helpful. The grounds are pleasant. When we walked into the office to check in we were accosted by an awful lemon air freshener. I had to step outside it was so bad. When we walked in our room we were again accosted by the smell of bleach. It burned our eyes and throat terribly and made us sick. I understand needing to keep rooms clean, but this is dangerously close to feeling poisoned. The sheets are rough and the towels rougher. The floors buckled and were very gritty. Do not walk barefoot. The rooms are clean except for the grit on the floors and dead bugs on the floors and toilet. Yuck! The shower is clean, but super small and awkward. The shower head does not move and points to the wall up high as opposed to down so it's very hard to wash your hair. There is a small fridge and coffee maker which is helpful. The AC is very loud, does not work so well and the remote must be super close to the unit to work. The unit is up high and only points towards one side of the room. Luckily we only stayed one night. Lots of simple improvements could be made to make this a better stay. read more

When I got home I found that they had charged my card for the room anyway, the full amount. I called to try and resolve the issue and was treated very poorly . I was refused any sort of refund. When it comes to hotels I am PICKY. My hotels have to be clean. I don't even like discolored caulking in the bathrooms. Upon arrival this criteria was met. I was very happy. I'm a brand name hotel kind of guy. I know I have recourses if things aren't what I want and honestly the chances of my criteria being met are better. I met Roxanne at the front desk and she was as nice and accommodating as could be. She also knows everything there is to know in this town. I like that. There's a nice grass area in the middle of the grounds that is cute, large and well kept. The breakfast is free and very adequate. They have hot cereal, cold cereal, muffins, toast and fruit. The Silver Maple Inn is a charming 1930's style motel located in the center of town next to the historic Mono County Courthouse. The rooms are all arranged in a L shape around a park like setting with grass, shady trees, tables and chairs. The rooms are comfortable and clean and include cable TV and a mini fridge. This place is super clean... nice ceiling fan, TV wood floors ( not ugly carpet). I sat outside under a tree and read my book, the grounds are well kept! Perfect for our needs! Had a minor set back when we arrived, but it was not anything that the manager could have changed - like most businesses it starts with ownership. Silver Maple is very accommodating, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. It's a very small small town and the inn has a very small town appeal to it. Staying at the inn almost reminds me of a walk back through time when motels were the center of the community and you could go in and get any information you needed. There is nothing high tech about the place, it's a simple place that takes you back to a simpler time. Very nice yard for the kids to play in, and the place is very well kept. read more

To gladly admit I dreamed of being Tippi Hedren in The Birds... flailing through a small California town, hoping to be rescued by a hero or heroin... means that eventually I'd end up getting myself into a similar situation, or at least wanting to. Bridgeport may not be Bodega Bay... but being on the Eastern foothills of the Sierras with the range fully in view from The Silver Maple, this is either from a Filson catalog or a Dashiell Hammett novel. Driving North on 395 from Vegas I needed a pooch friendly spot to rest for the night. Being that Bridgeport is close to the 108, the 88, the 4 & the 89 junctions... it makes for a well traveled town for sportsmen, hikers or roadtrippers. I came into town on the first day from being closed for the Winter, and kudos to them for being at the ready. For $75 was your standard motel lodging -- just what you'd find in most places. But then... *DirecTV! I mean, what? This isn't the '50s... Granted, the great outdoors are right there... so it's tough not to stare at the Sierras... but if you're main reason to stay at the silver maple is to getaway from nature, well... DirecTV. "It's just this once," right? *And, when the weather is nice... having the yard space next to your room in the courtyard can be a little treat... to sit out there under the mountain shadows with your dog, a beer and a book. Anything you need is walkable from your room: the general stores, the meat shop & the bar. I didn't get chased by birds. I didn't wake up in a black and white world where everyone's name is Joe Public. What I did wake up to was a comfortable, quaint, room, in an adorable setting, with a remarkable view. read more

Good location, you can walk to the bar across from the street. I would not recommend this to a friend or family member. We stayed one night before and after a weeklong backpacking trip. As we had been car camping before, we had non-bear safe things with us. They let us store them at the hotel for the week. I'm hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and always try to find the hotels in town that will give some kind of hiker(or other) discount. This was the first town that didn't really have a "hiker hangout" so I decided to give this place a shot. I picked up a room with double queen beds for only 78 bucks. Not bad at all after all of the negative things I had heard about the normal room rates in Bridgeport. I believe it was the AAA discount, so if you stay here be sure to ask. The girl at the front desk as friendly and helpful, I has asked about when a few places around town closed. The room was clean and well stocked with extra towels, blankets and pillows. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is TV channel selection. Oh and they have no A/C, not really a biggie for me, but I know how some people are. read more

We were in Bridgeport as a jumping off place to visit Bodie State Park at the end of April. I had read about the Silver Maple Inn in Sunset Magazine, and it sounded perfect. It was. We were there right before their spring/summer season started, and we loved how mellow it was. The room was clean, had everything we needed, the rate was reasonable, and all the places to eat in town were definitely within walking distance (it's a SMALL town)! Management was responsive, friendly and helpful. The beds were a little creaky and there was a small issue with hot water, but it was fixed right away. The motel itself reminded me of traveling with my family when I was young, staying in roadside motels with big lawns in front and parking right in front of the room. At night, with the window open for fresh cool air, I loved hearing the trucks occasionally going by on the 395, as it just epitomizes road trip travel to me! It wasn't loud, just in the distance. I enjoyed an afternoon sitting out on the lawn, reading, and admiring the snow-capped mountains in the distance. It was perfect for our needs, and I would definitely recommend this place, and stay here again, if our travels took us this way in the future! read more

To balance out the glowing reviews... Yes it's quaint and all but... - no AC. I stayed in July and while it was in the 70s outside, the room stayed in the 80s. With no flow through breeze, I was sweating and my dog was panting. Income from 3 nights rent per room would pay for a window mounted AC for each room. The place needs one. - the free wifi was so slow as to be unusable. I got 10x faster speed just using the cell network. The other motels in town are slightly more but I'd go with them read more
