So no apology for him cussing at me inside my home, or as he left yelling "this guys fucking crazy". No apology for him showing up 20 plus minutes early without warning while I was attempting to prepare the work for him, which is unprofessional in its own right. A disconnect in the difference in work is understandable, but there was more than one piece in my original email. The tone of the employee in my home ensured it didn't matter what he offered, he is not fit for this job. There was also not blue tape throughout the house, there was blue tape in two rooms, on five total pieces of furniture, two of which you already had photos of. Trying to defend yourself in the yelp review without even the decency to apologize for the character of your employee is embarrassing. Especially along with the fact that you're lying about the amount of items in my original email and the amount of markings in my home. Nor did you even acknowledge how the employee treated me in my own home. I'm happy to provide my email and yours as proof here that you were not clear about the pricing nor the amount of work you were doing. read more

Missed Communications - Poor Restoration - Overcharged - Insulted because we are disappointed. Where do I begin? We asked Andrew's Refinishing to come out for an estimate on 10/5. They wrote: We can do an onsite estimate. It will be $100 the day of the estimate. We can look at everything, take the pictures we need and get an official quote back to you. If you decide to move forward with us we will credit the $100 to the project total. I can tell you that the broken ornate chair will be in the range of $125-$150 The chair that has the broken back support will be $100-$125 The tear in the fabric chair can not be repaired. We could try and find fabric that matches but is very unlikely we have an exact match and only replace the damage panel. Pick up and delivery if needed will be $200 round trip. We can still set up an onsite estimate to better lock in these prices and see anything else that may have damage. OK. All well. Called, emailed, called, email for 29 days with no response. We finally called our Credit Card company to refund our $100, Finally on 11/3 we get in touch. Andrew's Refinishing came out, picked up our tea table, one Henredon Arm chair, a piano bench. They returned them 12/15. They charged us $200 for the chair as they were supposed to fix the scratches and wood damage along with the back support. They did not. We sent them pictures and an email explaining we were not happy with the results. A few days later, we received a phone call from Simon Teller. He started the conversation with "Why are you always so angry?" What? Really? The work is crap and we expected for the cost to be fixed. The back support that was fixed is uneven and the stain is missing. They never repaired the multiple scratches and gauges and missing wood that was requested originally. Simon was upset with us, the customer. We did not like what we paid for and he asks us why we are angry. For $827 I expected a heck of a lot more. See the pictures yourself. The conversation only went south from there as he continued to insult me as the customer so I hung up. He then started to text me. He just could not understand why we were disappointed. Instead of saying "OK, we will try to correct the problem." He argues with me to tell me I have no right to complain. How many times does it take for them to do what we hired them for before we can complain? He said at least once. They did once. Look at the results attached. Simon then said I never called, emailed, called, email for 29 days with no response. He said they have 5 people in the office and called me a liar. I have proof. I asked for a refund for the partial shoddy work. I get a snotty message back "See it didn't have to be that difficult." When it comes to customer service, Andrew's Refinishing could use some help. I will never do business with them again. My husband sat right next to me by the phone to hear what this young man was so rude to say. Unbelievable. I can make this simple: if there is anywhere else that you can go to get your furniture refinished, go there. Or, light your furniture on fire and experience less frustration than you will if you work with Simon Telfer, the owner of this establishment. Last year, I left two pieces of deeply sentimental furniture with Simon and his team. A dresser that I wanted completely refinished and made more modern, and an antique piece that I simply wanted to be cleaned and waxed. This month, I finally received word that the pieces were done and ready for pickup. I excitedly asked to see pictures of the work. When I received the pictures, I discovered that the dresser had simply been repainted, but not refinished. I began working with the team to remedy the problem, but as we went further and further through the process, it became clear that the owner, Simon, had not told the team my wishes. The team further indicated that they were concerned my furniture would be damaged if they tried to fix it. With all of this in mind, I asked for my furniture to be returned. I asked Simon to review the original scope of work and let me know what a fair rate would be, given that I had asked for the item to be completely refinished (stripped, sanded, holes repaired, repainted, slides and hardware replaced, and scrolling on bottom and drawers removed), and it had simply been painted. Simon refused. After much argument, he offered to take $300 off of my $1600 bill because "the scrolling wasn't removed." I agreed to pay and asked for my furniture to be returned. Then, despite having issued full payment, Simon told me that he would not reissue my furniture to me unless I signed a paper saying that I accepted the furniture as is, had no right to warranty, or anything else. Basically, I had to sign a form saying that him and his team did a good job. I told him I was not comfortable signing the form, and he told me that I could either sign it, or get a lawyer. After finding out the furniture had been taken into a booth and spraypainted, I called with a specific question. My Dad built this dresser for me when I was a child, and he wrote me a note in the backboard. I asked the team if it had been painted over, and Simon emailed me to say, "I heard you have an issue, and that doesn't change anything." I was told it was painted over, and I was utterly devasted by the action and by Simon's lack of empathy toward something that I had previously indicated was important to me. When the furniture was delivered to my house, I asked about the state of it. The dresser still has nicks and holes all over. (These are not natural wood knots, to be clear--they are the holes that come with owning a dresser throughout childhood). The antique piece was full of dust and still had wax on it that had not been removed. Absolutely the worst guy ever I worked in our life, he is the expert he is supposed to tell us what all works he was gonna do, it's not our job to tell him how to do his job. He held our stuff, he wouldn't release our furniture unless we signed a document saying he did a good job. Who does that? We were hesitant to work anymore with him because he already destroyed our furniture which holds lot of sentimental value for us. STOP LOOKING - YOU HAVE FOUND THE BEST!!! During a household move from CA to TX something in the moving van got spilled onto our beautiful dining table (see photos). Mover's insurance refused damage claim since there was not supposed to be any liquids in the van...so it's our fault!!! We reached out to Andrew's and several competitors. Andrew's was able to quickly diagnose the problem and recommend next steps. Turns out the entire tabletop (and 4 extension leaves) had to be refinished to assure a perfect match. Andrew's estimate was far below other shops and the work was completed on time and on budget. We have since had two additional pieces refinished by Andrew's with similar gratifying results. I had vintage wrought iron patio furniture that was in desperate need of being refinished and the feet all needing to be repaired. The set had been sitting outside for decades (inherited from a family member). The before picture was quickly taken for the online estimate request, so may be hard to compare; but the set was thoroughly rusted and the paint mostly peeled off. Andrew's Refinishing did a PHENOMENAL job restoring this set; it looks brand new! I would highly recommend them for any refinishing/repair work and they will be my first choice when I need additional refinishing work. They do offer pickup and delivery (for an additional cost), which was so worth it. It was in pretty rough condition when they got ahold of it and when they delivered it I couldn't believe how insanely good it looked. No drips, no bubbles and no real imperfections in the paint job. While this review is two parted it is of my own volition... We took two charis to Andrew's. One for repair and one for possible refinishing/reupholstering. The chair needing repair was from an antique dining room set; someone leaned back in it and broke a rear leg. Let me tell you....it looks great! Seamless repair, perfect color/stain match and while, if you look closely, you can tell the manner in which it was repaired you know that it will be sturdy enough to return to full time use. $75 bucks well spent. The chair for reupholstering, well, it's a COOL chair but we paid $10 bucks for it at a garage sale and while I am positive it would look great refinished with a new seat, I can't justify ~$300 to get it re-done. Maybe one day, and when/if that day comes, Andrew's will definetly get my business. read more

I cannot opine on their actual repair/refinishing services. As after four weeks, they had to return my dresser unrepaired. However I can comment on their client communication. Which is terrible. I called each week, only to get half answers about how their main repair guy had been out of the office, or 2 times when they told me they had just gotten the needed parts and would be done repairing "tomorrow", etc. etc. The owner seems like a nice guy, but incredibly poor customer service communication by others. Took an Eames lounge chair in for a repair (purchased on craigslist for $100 but the angle was just much too... loungey). Simon was great . While the chair won't ever be restored to original glory, he did what he could to fix the angle. He only charged me $50, which is a great deal considering how little I paid to begin with. We had a 47 year old custom made table and 4 leather chairs refinished and reupholstered, and 2 club chairs reupholstered. Nancy at Andrews did not have the Vintage Leather that we were wanting for the 4 chairs, color being a slate blue. I found the leather at another place, and they were happy to cover them in the Vintage Leather. They did an excellent job! We are so very pleased, and the club chairs look great. This is my second experience with Andrew's refinishing and I couldn't be more pleased. A year ago they reupholstered two mid century chairs. One of which I had attempted to do myself and became disinterested in the project. They turned out incredible. I have since found similar chairs for sale that cost four times what I paid to have them reupholstered. The latest project was a pair of night stands that went with a four poster bed. The bed had preciously been refinished and the night stands needed the same stain. They did an excellent job of matching the stain without having the bed to compare. About 5 months ago, we moved into a new apartment, and the movers accidentally damaged my bedroom armoire, taking a chunk out of the side. It was a beautiful cherry veneer, and I was afraid that they'd have to remove the entire side to make it look nice again. The gentleman who did the repair did an AMAZING job, and he didn't have to redo the entire side! He was very courteous and was in and out in a couple of hours. I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD!! Had the WORST experience with Andrew's Refinishing! I brought in 2 wingback chairs that belonged to my grandfather who recently passed away to be re-upholstered and told them I was moving out of state and needed them to be completed by a certain date a few weeks away and they said it wouldn't be a problem. A day or two before the pickup date I called to see when they would be ready to pick up and was told they had not even started them and acted like I never told them a date. Then I was told they would get someone on it and could still get it done in time and to me before my move date. They didn't complete the job and gave me the chairs all ripped up and torn apart! They refunded my money I had already paid but didn't seem to care about my business or that they just made my move even more stressful. I had to wrap these chairs so the loose staples now exposed didn't damage my other furniture in the moving truck. I wanted the re-upholstery done in the DFW area because the city I moved to has a more expensive cost of living and when I got the chairs done when I got here it cost me $150 more!! DO NOT THINK THESE PEOPLE CARE ABOUT GETTING YOUR PROJECT DONE ON TIME OR ABOUT FIXING THEIR MISTAKES!! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

We purchased a leather sectional from The Leather Center years ago. After 15 years of wear and tear, the seating areas were showing their age. I own a party/prop rental business. I had a Victorian piece that was damaged by a client. One restorer who attempted to repair this piece actually made matters worse. Simon patiently communicated with me by email while I presented pictures of the problem and discussed my SHORT timelines for repair. Based on a mutual agreement, I arrived at Andrews with the piece the next day. Simon met me and immediately realized that BOTH the pictures I had sent him and the promises he had made me were inconsistent with reality.Although Simon felt that he could do nothing other than sub par work to restore my piece, he did consent to try. I picked the piece up two days later (one day EARLIER than promised) and I was ASTONISHED. The piece looked AWESOME! Clearly Simon underestimates his talent. I will probably never take a piece for restoration or upholstery to ANY other business. Why try the rest when you already know THE BEST?
