I've finally found a place in the States serving truly excellent German cuisine! Andreas Keller sits right at the start of the main block in downtown Leavenworth and has been a family-run business since 1989. They serve authentic Bavarian classics -- pretzels, schnitzels, schweinshaxe, spätzle, sausages, and of course, German beer. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all given how popular it is. The atmosphere immediately transports you to Bavaria. Servers wear traditional attire, and the walls are adorned with German beer steins, murals, and lush greenery. It feels festive yet cozy. - Schnitzel Cordon Bleu -- perfectly breaded and not overly oily, layered with salty cured ham and melted Swiss cheese; served over spätzle, it was savory, rich, and indulgent - Jägerschnitzel -- topped with a mushroom gravy (Jägersoße) that was my favorite part; deep, rustic umami flavor with tender pork and a light sprinkle of thyme; crispy on the outside, juicy inside The vibes are warm and homey -- a great spot whether you're visiting in summer or winter (I can only imagine how magical it feels during the holidays). Next time I'm definitely trying their Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwälderkirschtorte), which comes from their sister bakery upstairs, The Gingerbread Factory. My only gripe is the pricing -- $34 for the Cordon Bleu and $30 for schnitzel is on the higher side especially compared to the equivalent in Germany. But honestly, the authenticity of the food reminded me so much of my last trip to Germany that I can't be too upset about it. Overall, a bustling yet cozy restaurant filled with families and travelers alike. Absolutely worth a visit if you're craving classic Bavarian comfort food.

Classic German Cuisine Will Leave You Satisfied! Not knowing our exact arrival time in Leavenworth due to a Thanksgiving snowstorm, we skipped making dinner reservations. No worries--I had already checked out Andreas Keller online and saw reviews saying walk-ins were usually doable. Sure enough, we stopped in, gave our name to the host, were handed a pager, and told the wait would be about an hour. Perfect--time to shop! When we returned, we were seated at the last table in the back near the small bar. Even though the restaurant was full, the location was ideal--we could actually hear each other and enjoy a real conversation . Major kudos to our waitress, who mentioned she had driven over an hour in the snowstorm just to work the dinner shift. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely pleasant (I wish I remembered her name). My son ordered the Chicken Oktoberfest--and got the last one! That alone tells you how popular it is. It came with warm red cabbage, potato salad, and grainy mustard and was absolutely worth it. My daughter-in-law ordered the Bavarian Beef Goulash with spaetzle, which unfortunately was a miss--the meat was quite dry, even with the gravy. I went with the Sahne Schnitzel topped with gravy and served over spaetzle, and it was tasty and comforting. Portions here are generous and easily shareable. For drinks, my son enjoyed a craft beer, while my DIL and I each had two Glühweins--served hot with a cinnamon stick. Sweet, warming, and a true German classic. All in all, Andreas Keller is a solid walk-in option with heavy portions, festive drinks and a cozy atmosphere. BTW, Keep a lookout, You can miss the entrance to Andreas Keller, as you need to walk down the stairs.

I picked Andreas Keller as my lunch option as the food options were more diverse but honestly, I would've been happier at Munchen Haus. Andreas Keller is located downstairs right by the gingerbread factory. The ambiance was nice and there's two unisex restrooms that were clean. The biggest advice is to pre waitlist on yelp as the wait can get very long. When checking in with the hostess, she was rude and gave off the feeling that she didn't want to work there. I tried a few items and overall there were okay. I really liked the dessert but it was actually from the gingerbread factory. pretzel with alpine cheese: the pretzel is unsalted and doesn't have much flavor. the add on of alpine cheese (+$6) was necessary and the cheese sauce was very cheesy and flavorful. fried potatoes (side): the potatoes weren't crispy and just okay. It paired well with the alpine cheese though. bavarian beef goulash: the beef was tender and overall light in flavor. it was a good dish and was reminiscent of my time in Europe. Jägerschnitzel swiss style: i would avoid this dish as there was really no flavor at all. it tasted like a bland pork cutlet. Black Forest cake: straight from the gingerbread factory, the cake has 3 levels and has great chocolate cherry flavor throughout. the bottom of the cake also had a thin layer or crisp which was nice.

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! They have the Bavarian vibe down with their warm, cozy atmosphere. My partner and I each had the sausage plate. Lots of different sausages to choose from and both of ours were good. Delicious sauerkraut and German potato salad on the side too! Friendly, fast service rounded out our great lunch.

We decided to try this place that has been recommended by many locals/tourists! We got to Leavenworth at around 10 but they don't open until 11:30am, the line started forming at around 11:00 and we were lucky enough to be the first batch sat. We originally had a bad rep of schnitzels bc of the first schnitzels had at another restaurant last year... let me tell y'all... the cordon bleu schnitzel here did not disappoint! It was crispy, the Spatz was amazing. And the gravy was great. It was REALLY pricy though for the portion I'd say. The small pretzel was enough to share between me and my partner and it was pretty good! The service was great, prices were up there, and the overall cozy ambiance was top tier. Def. A go to whenever we visit during the holidays.

sahneschnitzel, schweinshaxe

I went a a few minutes before this place opened since it always had a long wait whenever we passed by. Overall not extremely worth the hype in my opinion. We got the sahneschnitzel and schweinshaxe. The schnitzel was delicious. The batter is super crispy and the sauce was very flavorful. But it was comparable to Mozart's schnitzel (the sister restaurant upstairs with less of a wait) though i guess it's a tad cheaper at Andreas Keller. The schweinshaxe was tender and delicious as well but just kind of tough to break through the skin. The ambiance is quite cozy and the outfits of the staff here are cute! One problem we had though was that they kept messing up orders. We were around the 5th party of the day to be seated but didn't get our food until more than a half hour later while everyone in the restaurant was already served. Turns out they accidentally served our food to the table behind us, compensated them for the mistake (even though they kept the food), but not us, probably thinking we didn't notice :/. Then when our food came out it came with a pretzel that we didn't order which belonged to a table next to us so we told them immediately. It felt like a whole domino effect of wrong orders. Otherwise it was overall pretty good food, just an unlucky experience.

Visited Leavenworth for the first time and was looking forward to trying Andreas Keller. Due to the busy holiday season, there can be long wait times if you put your name down through the Yelp app. I do recommend either calling the day of or go into the restaurant first thing when they open and putting your name down on their waiting list for the time that you would like to come and dine in. They'll ask for your name and phone number. I got a text notification and we were seated promptly. The restaurant was cozy and inviting. Our waiter was super welcoming and answered all of our questions. We ordered the Bavarian Beef Goulash and Breaded Pork Sahneschnitzel. The Bavarian Beef Goulash was tender and the spatzle noodles helped to soak up the rich flavorful sauce. The Breaded Pork Sahneschnitzel was hot, crispy, seasoned well and tender. It paired well with their homemade gravy. Overall this is a great place to enjoy cozy Bavarian food.

I love this cute place. The pretzel was enormous and the schnitzel was so yummy and so was the different sausages we tried but I think I like their knackwurst the best. The portions are large and the vibe in the restaurant is great. The wait is long but it was worth it. The staff was attentive and friendly. Their live music was great and interactive absolutely loved the entertainment.

It was a Tuesday when my husband and I decided to come here. When we arrived, we were notified that there is a 2.5 - 3 hour wait. The restaurant was packed and lively. We decided to put our names down and walk around the promenade to kill time. Exactly 2.5 hours later, we received a text that said our table was ready. We walked back to the restaurant and was quickly seated to our table. Our server came and took drink orders and quickly came back to get your food order. My husband ordered the Class Pork Weiner Schnitzel and I ordered the Chicken Oktoberfest. Everything was very flavor and delicious. We ordered the chocolate cake to-go as well.

Came in here for dinner and opted to sit outside since i had my dog and to enjoy the weather and people watching. They have an outdoor patio directly across fro. The park with was perfect for my kiddo to play while we waited for our food. The service great as they checked on us often. I ordered the Giant Style "Muinch Atyle" Pork hock. It was huge! And the skin was crispy, however, very hard to chew. The meat also was not seasoned and lacked flavor. The red cabbage it came with tasted delicious. We also ordered the schnitzel and it was crispy and delicious. Overall, for the cost of the Pork hock was pricey and needed seasoning. But the restaurant and customer service was great! Highly recommend.

Black Forest cake

We had such a great experience at Andreas Keller--this place nails the cozy Bavarian vibes and delivers on flavor, too. We tried a little bit of everything: - Glühwein was on the sweeter side for my taste, but still a fun seasonal sip. - Pretzel was perfect--definitely eat it while it's warm! - The rotisserie chicken was super flavorful, and the side of potatoes deserves its own shoutout. - We ordered the Jägerschnitzel with grilled chicken instead of the traditional version and it was still delicious--really well done. - And wow, the Black Forest cake. I've had plenty of modified versions over the years, but nothing comes close to this authentic one. Rich, balanced, and not overly sweet. Service was great--friendly and efficient. And the ambience? Loved it. It felt warm, festive, and charmingly old-world. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Leavenworth and want a solid Bavarian meal in a great setting!

schnitzel cordon bleu

The restaurant's interior was very cute and cozy. We had a larger party (9) and they were able to accommodate us at ~12 pm on a sunday and we did not have to wait. I tried the goulash and schnitzel cordon bleu. I expected the beef in the goulash to be more tender and flavorful. There was also no textural contrast. The schnitzel was more flavorful (although very salty) I enjoyed it more than the goulash, but I also don't think it was great. Every bite tasted a bit different because the ingredients on the interior weren't spread out well. I also thought that this was pricey for what we got.

We stopped in for a light dinner which is probably very funny given German food seems to be a bit heavy. We were greeted with some friendly hosts and an accordian player that was playing for what seemed to be a bachelorette party. It was definitely a lively atmosphere which we loved. We started off with beers on draft and a schnitzel salad. The salad was so light and fresh. The dressing was to die for. It seems like ranch but consistency was lighter. We also had a few sausages to finish off a low carb dinner. It was a good finish to an already gluttonous weekend.

The Accordion!

Get your base bratwurst, pick your add ons and choose your condiment. Big bob bratwurst is a must get. Really delicious with good flavors and perfectly cooked. You have the option to do add ons on the bratwurst. We liked the caramelized onions but there's option to add on beechers cheese, cream cheese, or chili. The condiment section is insane. There's 20 sauces and over 10 kinds of mustards to try from. We loved the garlic aioli and smoky garlic/onion mustards! But so hard to pick a favorite out of them. Must add on the apple cider sauerkraut and relish. Great ipa selection as well. Good vibes and plenty of seating inside and outside the restaurant.

Since we had to make the almost 6 hour trek home the next day, we went for an early dinner and were the first party in. Service was kind and quick! Everyone was super friendly. Only thing is with it being just freshly opened for the day, it felt a bit like we were intruding on the staffs prep time - no one made us feel that way there was just a lot of work and chatter going on. I assume with the name Mozart usually there's some form of music (I would assume classical) that maybe just hadn't been turned on yet. But no bother. Food was fantastic. The fondue is not to be missed - the sausage and broccolini were clear standouts with this dish. I got the hunters schnitzel which was great but my husband got the Käsespätzle which is one of the absolute best things I have eaten out in a really long time. Like an oniony cheesy spatzle Mac and cheese. YUM. Should we be back in the area, we would go back again for sure!

Unfortunately, the restaurant was already running about 45 minutes behind and no one communicated this to the long line of guests standing on a steep staircase waiting to be seated. Given that the evening was reservation-only, it was surprising how unprepared they seemed for the exact number of people they knew were coming. The space itself is quaint and charming, and the food was reasonably tasty once it arrived. But the service left a lot to be desired. The hostess was uncommunicative and initially tried to seat us at a shared table in the middle of heavy foot traffic. When we asked about an empty private table that had been sitting open the entire time we were waiting, we were told it was for "VIP" guests. Our server seemed overwhelmed and not very attentive. She had to ask for and repeat our orders multiple times, still brought the wrong dish to one person, and served three meals while the fourth person in our party waited another 10-15 minutes for theirs. When we asked about the delay, it felt like we were inconveniencing them. Overall, it was disappointing. The restaurant has a lot of charm and potential, but the lack of communication, organization, and basic hospitality made for a frustrating experience--especially on a night that was clearly planned around reservations.

We were especially excited to order the Kohl Roulade (stuffed cabbage), since we had tried it at another nearby spot earlier on our trip and absolutely loved it. When we arrived, there was about a 15-minute wait for booths and tables, but we were seated right away at the high tops. We were already starving and had plans to catch the fireworks afterward, so that worked perfectly for us. Shortly after sitting down, we were served warm bread with both regular butter and garlic butter. The garlic butter paired with the warm, soft bread was to die for, honestly one of the highlights of the meal. We placed our order for the Kohl Roulade, and it came out in about 10 minutes. As soon as it arrived, I cut into the roll, made sure to smother it in the marinara sauce, and took my first bite...then my second...and my third. Overall, it was just okay. The meat wasn't quite as flavorful as what we had experienced elsewhere, which was a bit disappointing given how high our expectations were. The plate also came with red cabbage, sauerkraut, and fried potatoes. The red cabbage and potatoes were tasty, but the sauerkraut wasn't really for me though that's more of a personal preference since I'm not a big sauerkraut fan. We really wanted to love this dish, but it just didn't quite live up to what we were hoping for. That said, you can't win them all, right? The service was good and the staff were very friendly, which we appreciated. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd definitely try a different dish next time.
