the schnitzel cordon bleu here was so delicious that i came two days in a row to order the same exact thing. it's a breaded pork cutlet stuffed with swiss cheese, ham, and a little dijon mustard. perfectly hand breaded to order and drenched with a creamy savory sauce. comes on a bed of spaetzel, which is a butter grilled pasta of some sort. really loved that too. we got a side of red cabbage which is pickled in apple cider vinegar, and stacked that with each bite of the schnitzel. beer here is pretty great too. interior design here makes you feel like you're in old world germany. it's wooden and flooded with artifacts and artwork from this whole theme the town is. we also got a weenie which was good but nah save ur appetite for the schnitzel. you will not regret it if you are a lover of delicious food! read more

In Leavenworth, this is one of the more well-known German restaurants. Since we were here for lunch, there was unfortunately no accordion player like I'd heard about, but the vibe was pretty good from the wood panels and seating. The main thing I had was the schnitzel cordon bleu. I've had schnitzel before in Germany, but never before this did I find the cordon bleu version of it - which includes being stuffed with ham and cheese. Although not traditional, I actually liked this a good bit. The top thing to notice here was how crispy the fried cutlet was. This was fried really well, with an audible sound when running your fork over it, and a real crunch with every bite; that was consistent throughout. What's even more impressive is that it retained this crispiness despite a large portion of the cutlet being doused in a cream sauce. Normally, there's a gradient between sauce and crispy - as you add more, you lose the other. But here, they managed to find the best of both worlds. What's more, this cream sauce was actually delicious - it had a slightly umami, slightly fatty nature at the perfect viscosity. The inside of the cutlet was nice as well. Normally, schnitzels are cut super thin, but this was on the thicker side. This allowed the flavor of the pork to come through a lot more than normal, and it was quite good. It's definitely not the cheapest cut. I will say I didn't really taste the cheese or ham at all throughout - except for a couple cheesy bites near the end. The spatzle noodles were also great. For dessert, we had the apfelstrudel. I wish this had been more put together to hold its shape when cutting rather than the top rolling over like a folding tent, but the taste was solid. Surprisingly, it wasn't very sweet, and it paired well flavor-wise with the whipped cream. A lot of apples were in here. For the price, the cordon bleu schnitzel is quite expensive at $35. I would go with a cheaper schnitzel version as the added elements aren't really worth the cost. It's a good amount of food though. My friends and I were visiting Leavenworth for the weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and came across this spot while looking for a place to have dinner. It's located downstairs where Mozart's Restaurant and the Gingerbread Factory are in front of Front Street Park in Leavenworth. There is street parking and designated parking areas around the area but could be difficult to find during the weekends, Oktoberfest season, and winter. I got their Kassler Kotelett, a pretzel, and a Radler (Helles + Sprite). The Radler was surprisingly delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Sprite in beer, but it added just the right amount of sweetness and made for a really refreshing drink. The Kassler Kotelett was just okay. It wasn't as smoky as I expected, and the meat was a bit dry. Thankfully, the mustard was fantastic and helped with the dryness. I liked it so much that I even packed some up with my leftovers LOL. I wanted to really love this restaurant. It's such a popular place and people really love it. I want to admit that I feel like I had a not so great experience, but I am not going to judge it harshly in any way. I was hungry, but when we arrived there was a party of 44 people that were finishing up and all paying the server with separate checks. Our server was trying to settle all that after 20 minutes we asked another server to help us out. Thankfully, they did because I was getting too hungry to wait much longer. The food came out relatively quickly once we ordered. I ordered the Schweinshaxe, which is a huge pork hock that's been roasted with crispy skin. I have ordered this at other German restaurants and typically love it. I found this one to be really dry and tough. The sides were all very tasty though including the sauerkraut, red cabbage and potatoes. For $52.99, I wish the pork had been better as I left feeling disappointed. I had an amber ale, which I liked. My brother said the soup was boring, but the potato salad was really good. The ambiance here is fun. There was an accordion player who was pretty entertaining. I went to Germany last fall and this place really took me back! From the all wood interior to the paintings and knick knacks on the walls, it was like stepping into another country inside. The wait staff is all dressed up in lederhosen and dirndls as well. They had a nice variety of German foods and I loved the German potato salad which I had been craving since I went to Germany. Came here a couple years ago for the schnitzel and decided to revisit. I love the feel of the inside. Even though you are in Leavenworth and there is a theme throughout the town, this place just feels like you're in another place. From the walk down the stairs to the entrance, to the decor, there's not a whole lot that was missed here. Our seats were tucked back at the back of the restaurant in a little nook that had only one side to the table. It was optimum for people watching. The servers were slammed constantly, but they did a great job of consistently stopping by and filling our waters with a smile. My wife got what she came here for. The schnitzel and spatzel. Let it be known that after our first venture here we decided that we needed to learn how to make schnitzel and spatzel at home. In that time I'm pretty sure we perfected it. The schnitzel this time around was good, but not what we remembered. The breading consistently fell off the meat which was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, it was still tasty. One of the gravy's that we ordered(we ordered both), came out more like an au jus. Very thin with little flavor. Spatzel hit the mark and accompanied the schnitzel very well. I ordered a sampler a knockwurst, the seasonal sausage(it was smoked, that was the only description I got). I don't remember the name of the other one. Both the nameless sausage and the seasonal smoked ones were good, but not memorable. The knockwurst was the one I remembered the most, but not in a good way. It came out looking like a hot dog on steroids and just did not have good flavor at all. The sampler came with a couple slices of pickles, onion and mustard. The mustard did help, but I feel that a side of sauerkraut should have been apart of the presentation and would have elevated the flavors of the plate very well. We did also order a pretzel that was accompanied by a cup of cheese which we utilized to the fullest. While not as satisfying as our first visit, I feel that we will probably give this spot another go next time and hope for the same results we had the first time we came here. On our 1st evening in town, we had the Andreas Keller Sampler for $40. It was more than plenty for the 2 of us. We added two 14oz beers for $12 each(rounded). Our bill with tax added was almost $64. The sides we selected and the sausages were 1st rate. You won't go wrong IMO ordering anything on their menu, if price is no object. I'm not usually someone who finishes a big plate, but somehow I manage to clean this one every time...including the Käsespätzle with the homemade mushroom sauce (no regrets, ever). My guy usually goes for one of the sausages or wieners, and he's just as happy with his choice. The food comes out fast, which is great--but do yourself a favor and check out the menu ahead of time to better prepare you and your family (especially if you have kids). So after three visite over the years, always excellent food. My wife's favorite is the Cordon Blue Schnitzel, which is stuffed with smoked pork and swiss cheese. A unique entree to say the least. Be careful because that cheese is still moten HOT when you eat. Flavors are great and the dish is more filling that you expect. I like the Beef Goulash, with a side of German potato salad, it's the right size entree. Seasoning is just right, and very tender pieces of beef, my second favorite item I finally tried the seasonal smoked bratwurst plate. This was a little lighter then the beef goulash, so I had room for dessert. This smoked bratwurst had a thick skin, so a knife was deployed to cut it, but the flavors were on point, just a little smoke and great flavor. Now the best of all part, dessert. The black forest cake was incrediable light and brandy infused cherry tasty. Towards the end I ate more of the cake then frosting, but a delicious dessert. So far the only one I have tried. The seating in the "wine barrels" is a bit of a unique experience, and the second night they have live music. He was singing in German a variety of songs on his accordian. Andreas Keller sits right at the start of the main block in downtown Leavenworth and has been a family-run business since 1989. They serve authentic Bavarian classics -- pretzels, schnitzels, schweinshaxe, spätzle, sausages, and of course, German beer. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all given how popular it is. The atmosphere immediately transports you to Bavaria. Servers wear traditional attire, and the walls are adorned with German beer steins, murals, and lush greenery. It feels festive yet cozy. - Schnitzel Cordon Bleu -- perfectly breaded and not overly oily, layered with salty cured ham and melted Swiss cheese; served over spätzle, it was savory, rich, and indulgent - Jägerschnitzel -- topped with a mushroom gravy (Jägersoße) that was my favorite part; deep, rustic umami flavor with tender pork and a light sprinkle of thyme; crispy on the outside, juicy inside The vibes are warm and homey -- a great spot whether you're visiting in summer or winter (I can only imagine how magical it feels during the holidays). Next time I'm definitely trying their Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwälderkirschtorte), which comes from their sister bakery upstairs, The Gingerbread Factory. My only gripe is the pricing -- $34 for the Cordon Bleu and $30 for schnitzel is on the higher side especially compared to the equivalent in Germany. But honestly, the authenticity of the food reminded me so much of my last trip to Germany that I can't be too upset about it. Andreas Keller is located downstairs right by the gingerbread factory. The ambiance was nice and there's two unisex restrooms that were clean. The biggest advice is to pre waitlist on yelp as the wait can get very long. When checking in with the hostess, she was rude and gave off the feeling that she didn't want to work there. I tried a few items and overall there were okay. I really liked the dessert but it was actually from the gingerbread factory. pretzel with alpine cheese: the pretzel is unsalted and doesn't have much flavor. the add on of alpine cheese (+$6) was necessary and the cheese sauce was very cheesy and flavorful. fried potatoes (side): the potatoes weren't crispy and just okay. It paired well with the alpine cheese though. bavarian beef goulash: the beef was tender and overall light in flavor. it was a good dish and was reminiscent of my time in Europe. Jägerschnitzel swiss style: i would avoid this dish as there was really no flavor at all. it tasted like a bland pork cutlet. We got to Leavenworth at around 10 but they don't open until 11:30am, the line started forming at around 11:00 and we were lucky enough to be the first batch sat. We originally had a bad rep of schnitzels bc of the first schnitzels had at another restaurant last year... let me tell y'all... the cordon bleu schnitzel here did not disappoint! It was crispy, the Spatz was amazing. And the gravy was great. It was REALLY pricy though for the portion I'd say. I went a a few minutes before this place opened since it always had a long wait whenever we passed by. Overall not extremely worth the hype in my opinion. We got the sahneschnitzel and schweinshaxe. The schnitzel was delicious. The batter is super crispy and the sauce was very flavorful. But it was comparable to Mozart's schnitzel (the sister restaurant upstairs with less of a wait) though i guess it's a tad cheaper at Andreas Keller. The schweinshaxe was tender and delicious as well but just kind of tough to break through the skin. The ambiance is quite cozy and the outfits of the staff here are cute! One problem we had though was that they kept messing up orders. We were around the 5th party of the day to be seated but didn't get our food until more than a half hour later while everyone in the restaurant was already served. Turns out they accidentally served our food to the table behind us, compensated them for the mistake (even though they kept the food), but not us, probably thinking we didn't notice :/. Then when our food came out it came with a pretzel that we didn't order which belonged to a table next to us so we told them immediately. It felt like a whole domino effect of wrong orders. Very disappointed in today's dinner. The sampler platter and the Spätzle were lukewarm and cold respectively, and it's clear that the food is prepared beforehand and just warmed up in a microwave. Serving on cold dishes makes the food cold even faster, and sticking a small Bavarian flag on top doesn't make it a German dinner. The schnitzel was falling apart when cutting into it, the fried potatoes were mushy, and the only thing really warm was the sauerkraut. When we mentioned this to the server he apologized and after talking to the kitchen manager they offered to remake everything, but we would not eat more, so that would be a waste. We would expect food to come out right in the first place, not after "complaining" about it. And the ambiance was way too loud, with big parties shouting over each other and crying and shouting kids. Due to the busy holiday season, there can be long wait times if you put your name down through the Yelp app. I do recommend either calling the day of or go into the restaurant first thing when they open and putting your name down on their waiting list for the time that you would like to come and dine in. Don't trust the wait list time and be prepared to eat outside surrounded by igloo coolers and open garbage cans as part of their new outdoor camp kitchen. We knew it was getting harder to get in here. Traveled all the way up here to eat. Got on the waiting list and it said we'd be seated 60-100 minutes later. 3 HOURS later we were still 20th, meaning it would be another hour at the rate they were seating people. And as a surprise, they were going to seat us outside on a picnic table with food spilled all over the ground. The experience eating downstairs is unique. But they need to be honest about how long it will take once you get in line. They refuse to take reservations. You just have to wait in limbo and their estimated wait times are off BY HOURS. Pork chop was just a tad moist but a little on the drier side. But that comes with getting a thick pork chop. It's easy to dry out when it's that large. Sausages were great, though. Wifey had the classic schnitzel. Can never go wrong with that. Mom had the bowl of crème of kraut soup. Yummy - she totally enjoyed it! Dad had the schnitzel as well. Overall, delicious and tasty. Returned the next day (Aug 24). It was our last night in Leavenworth and wanted to make it count. Plus, it was wife's birthday weekend. We ordered the classic schnitzel-- again. This time I ordered two fried eggs (over easy) on the side. Wifey ordered mushroom sauce on the side. Out of nowhere, our waiter (who by the way was so amazing!) looked at the meal and said "loco moco?" And asked if we were from Hawaii. We said yes! He then said "I love Hawaiian food and love loco moco!" He then said, wow you just made a German version of it! He said that he was going to try it but wasn't sure if he did or not. I asked to substitute fries and they didn't inform me it would be a $3 charge. The waitress didn't come back even once to see if we needed anything. My schnitzel was overdone.
